Appropriate Timing?

 

1. So let me get this straight: what i take away from this is the Feds made sure Ted Stevens got painted as a crook during an election cycle, so he could get convicted and turned out at the ballot box...and THEN set aside the conviction once Бара́к Хусе́йн Оба́ма is elected and in office.

   Got it. Great job, Feds. NOT.

2. I think Macker is on to something. 

   Consider this investigation was started during the Bush Administration; therefore, this mess can be plausibly “Blamed on Bush” (tm).  This of course ignores the fact that most of the middle and even high level people in all departments of the Federal Government are hired and maintain their job under Civil Service, are not appointed by the President (or his direct representative) and frankly are largely Democrats.

   There are a couple birds killed with one stone here: 
   1.  Senator Stevens is knocked out of the election and therefore the Senate, allowing a Democrat to be elected.
   2.  The Justice Department - under President Bush - can be made to look like a pack of incompetent and crooked baffoons.
   3.  The Justice Department - under President Obama - can be made to look like the good guys.
   4.  A general distrust in instilled in the public regarding the court system - which seems to be an ongoing project.
   5.  President Bush is ultimately responsible.

   Does that make sense, or am I turning into a conspiracy hack?

3. Archie, I wish I could disagree with you.  J. Edgar Hoover was famous for maintaining files on political figures and using them as he liked.  It’s nothing new.  You keep hoping that some branch of the government will show real integrity but it doesn’t seem to happen.
