I love you bowling storie, b u t..................unless you are bowling for chits and giggles, I wonder what a guy like you is doing bowling in such a league?
you undoubtedly have the ability and desire to compete.
I used to play golf with 3 guys who I had absolutely no trouble beating. fact was, I spent more time looking for their balls than I did mine.
finally was up front with them and told them I was going to start playing in “pot” games and that they should find a 4th to replace me.
the mens association at the course where I played had, at least 135 or more members.
not all of whom played a once. cost $10.00 each time, to get into the game....might be 30-40 guys maybe more each time. I won lots more than I put in.
I started bowling, after my divorce, with a 121 average.
guy I worked with was a high 180 avg, who had bowled for many years
we would slip across the street and bowl 3 games at lunch.
I bet him a $1 a game...lost a lot, but at the end he was paying me.
in 8 years of bowling, I had at least 10 first place trophies.
I was bowling 3 nights a week and one of them,a mixed league was my chits and giggles time. and we still managed a 1st
my bowling buddy had never played golf. he had a hole in one
I had never bowled...I had a 300
keep’em over the 3rd arrow...........
I wish that I had the bowling skill to match my desire to compete. Oh, I’m a ferocious competitor, but I can’t ever seem to get over the 180s average. Which means my spares game is pretty damn good, especially when my 10 pin throw is working, but I can’t string strikes to save my life.
Sucks being a Duffer bowler Huh.
On the other hand, Look at this weird lovely folding shotgun from a man named Burgess, circa 1895:
