   Interesting the areas they are patrolling. Brixton has had a large influx of “afro-caribeans” same with Haringey not so much Tottenham though it was the scene of riots in the 80’s along with Haringey. Where this took place http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Blakelock

   It is a sign of the times I’m afraid. Taking away legitimately held handguns was a dream long held by the bed wetting liberals and socialist control freaks. But open borders mean that illegal guns are easy enough to obtain. At the moment it seems predominantly a problem amongst one particular ethnic group but I doubt it will stay that way.
   
   As we see in most cites where gangs try and control their turf the shooting will spread. The black gangs at the moment seem to be the most trigger happy, but it will spread and you will have wars between Somali gangs, Bangladeshi, Pakistani etc. etc. As it is 100,000 white people leave London every year. The last time I was there it was like some turd world hell hole. The only white people were East Europeans and Albanians.

2. Well, you are correct on the M4 reference, and the officer behind this guy is carrying a H&K G36C… At least the H&K is right.

3. B3 - both of which are battle rifles of a sort. Much more potent than the standard 9mm euro-pellet. Both weapons use the 5.56 NATO cartridge. They’re real assault rifles.

   The M4 could easily be a HK416. Pretty much identical, especially with all the gizmos attached.

   Guess the cops there are going “house hunting”.

   Now, all that gun discussion above is based on a picture in the newspaper. For all we know it was staged. Lyndon’s link shows actual cops, carrying actual MP5s. One commenter there says the guns are all locked into semi-auto mode. Guess we’ll see.

   The MP5 is a superb little urban weapon. I like the MP5/10 a bit better, with a tad more barrel length and a folding stock. But that’s perhaps too much gun for cops.

4. HK makes a version of the MP5 for this kind of law enforcement application. It fires “bursts” of 2 rounds. Automated double-tap. The ones I’ve seen (at Boston Logan airport) are also suppressed. If the bobbies are being issued MP5s, my guess is it’s this version.

6. Drew - Wasnt commenting on the rifle not being an acceptable tool for the task, just that is wasnt an MP5. But, it isnt a HK416. The HK416 has an integrated free floating barrel system that has the forgrip attached to the upper with no delta ring. This picture is of a M4 or some variant of the system. But, it is not an HK416.

   Ah ... this is the quote to pay attention to.
   In extreme they might use the weapon BUT there will be restrictions. And paperwork. And second guessing after an event.
   I saw this story and ignored it not thinking there’d be a lot of interest. Boy was I wrong.
   Thing is, I saw it and thought, ho-hum. They aren’t really serious. It’s all show.
   Well, maybe not. We’ll see.

   The quote that there aren’t that many guns here is only true among the unarmed and law abiding population.  The bad guys are well stocked.

   Here’s what RULES in this country at the moment. And Lyndon, step in here if I have it wrong.

   The socialists wanted to set up a voter base to ensure they would remain in control indefinitely. It also suits the EU socialist scoundrels as it means Britain is f****d and becomes increasingly dependant on the control freaks in Brussels. 3 million immigrants in the past ten or eleven years in a population of 57 million is gerrymandering on an epic scale. It wouldn’t be so bad if they were 3 million graduates, but is is largely made up of the dregs and dross of Asia the Middle East and Africa plus all the trash that other Euro countries don’t want. Trouble is it has backfired on them and has led to a rise in political parties with rather more radical views on immigration. It is downhill all the way now. Armed police will be the norm in most British cities soon mark my words.
