  1. decedent AND decadent.

Hey, remember when Prince Harry dressed up as a Nazi for some Halloween bash, and it was front page news, shock and horrified, the world over for a week?  How much worse would it have been had he dressed up as Auschwitz itself with a sign “free showers, no waiting” around his neck?

Sure, everyone who doesn’t go the sex-bomb route wants a scary costume for the holiday. Or both! And it was inventive of these two to think this up, especially given the easy “twin towers” pun played on Ms. North Towers’ gigantic bosom. But the scary part of a good costume is fantasy based, not reality based. You don’t go as JFK after being shot, or as Sarah Ferguson’s mother after the accident. That’s crass. And while it would be just as tacky to go as “everyone who drowned on the Titanic” (and get another big boobs pun in their as well), now that it’s 100 years later NOBODY you will meet every knew anyone who even knew anyone who was on that ship ... so the cruelty factor is diminished. Not absent, just lessened. It’s still tacky though. Best to play with death in the abstract; monsters and victims from Hollywood. Not REAL PEOPLE, especially real people whom others around you may have actually known.

I’m sort of willing to be a mite forgiving of these girls. They were barely in school when 9/11 happened, nor was it in their country. Now add in an entire lifetime’s worth of PC Muzzie Love in the UK. Of course these two are soft on the GWOT. And if you follow the link and look closely at the pictures, you’ll see that they love a good Lionel Ritchie pun, even if it comes at an un-PC expense. So they may have a wild sense of humor, perhaps beyond other people’s.

  2. Re Harry dressed up. Well, yeah but not really authentic as some of the press made out.
It wasn’t really any kind of recognizable uniform except for the armband.

I’m not too forgiving these girls though. 9/11 too large for them not to be very aware and it still gets play here on the anniversary.  9/11 had an impact and I guess I’m still somewhat touchy about that. Maybe I’ve lost my sense of humor along with my yoot.
