Another Half Solution

  1. Drew as ever common sense. I have been arguing the exact same thing for a while. We should dust off those Hercules crop sprayers and douse their fields with roundup. Let them plant wheat. The drugs trade is keeping the tally whackers in power. Cut off their income and they will sink. It isn’t rocket science. You would think the people in charge don’t want us to win.

  2. It would be cheaper to simply offer to buy the poppy crops. Just offer 10% more than the tallywhackers. We already pay Turkey to grow poppies for pharmaceutical opium.

  3. Find a way for the farmers to increase their profit per acre on the same ground by doing something else. That’s the only actually long-term solution, because it’s the only one that’s self enforcing. Too many drug producing plants are basically ditch weeds that will grow practically anywhere. To do less will involve an eternal “War on Drugs"(tm) that, if enough money is spent and it’s prosecuted thoroughly enough FOREVER, can badly cripple, but still can’t entirely kill, the drug trade. Mother Nature herself is working for the opposition. All you can hope for is to reduce it to a cottage industry, like most marijuana in the US. How much of your money and freedom are you willing to spend to be *almost* successful?
