Death penalty for this bastard.
Won’t get it - Larry Mahoney was driving the wrong way (after a day of drinking) on Southbound 1-71 and struck a church bus - which caught on fire - killing 23 children and 4 adults - he got 16 years and only served 10 and 11 months - and yes, he had a previous drunk driving arrest.
There won’t be the death penalty because ‘everybody does it’ and of course the corollary that everyone on the jury and the justice system are saying under their breath - ‘there by the grace of God go I.’
No one gives a damn and the only reason that this is getting any time at all was because he was a young sports star - you know a ‘hero’. But you tell me how this is any different than picking up a gun and pointing it at a crowd - a car in the hands of the intoxicated or stoned is just as deadly a weapon.

Guest .. Thank you. I went looking and couldn’t find it but you did. I kinda thought that photo looked odd in the face of three dead. And the hit and run thing threw me off too.
Yeah this news cycle is a double header for the foaming at the mouth liberals - a ‘hero’ killed by a drunk driver and a kid with a gun at UT - expect to hear the usual babble about how evil and dangerous it is to allow people to do these things.
Without regard to the court system who previously let this drunk driver go - with his license - (did the same for Mahoney - he could have actually gotten his license back while in prison - what a punishment - what a comfort). I know that there is a thought process going on - everybody drinks. Well first that is not true - no matter how much you want to believe it. But having been in the bottom of a bottle at one time - there is a difference between ‘having a drink’ and this type of ‘drinking’. And I know it because I lived it - and the same is true about gun owners like my hubby & I and someone who uses the gun to kill. I pray every day I won’t ever, ever have to use it (sort of like I do with my fire extinguisher and my car and homeowners insurance) but I still have it - if I need it.
Can drunks like this be rehabilitated - sure - I don’t drink anymore - don’t crave it - because I am no longer in that dark place that wanted to kill pain any way I could. But these guys proved that they are a danger to themselves and others - and need to be removed from society.
Mahoney survived, did his prison time and went back to his son & daughter - Gallo will probably do the same. None of the 69 people involved in these two accidents - will ever be the same people and 31 of them and their families will never, ever get that chance.
So I guess for our criminal justice system - how many people does it take before you are considered a murderer and a danger to society? But hell we kill innocent children for being an inconvenience - I don’t see a big change anytime soon.
Humans - to the ‘system’ are fungible. And that attitude frightens me more than any other belief going.
