1. A bit of sour grapes on the reporter’s part, I think:

   “In the end, Trump fans took the lead. By 6:45 p.m., all 500 Trumps had disappeared and 239 Clintons remained.”

   There were 500 of each. “In the end” my a-hole. Trump out-bobbled her TWO to ONE. How about “There never was any doubt” or “It wasn’t any kind of contest” or even “there hasn’t been a stampede like this since that thunderstorm over the Chicago stock yards back in ‘74”.
