  1. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Did anyone hear the Global Warming debunker scientist on Glenn Beck Radio this A.M.?

A crude synopsis in case you missed it:  Ice bore samples indicate increases in temperature have PRECEDED increases in CO2.  NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.  Humans are not responsible for Global Warning. Repeat: Humans are not responsible for Global Warming.

  2. GLOW-BALL WARMING , I see.....

The weather-weenies really struck out last year, with their dire predictions of doom and gloom, and 473 category seven or higher hurricanes. Bah, Humbug, just more doomer and gloomer liberal rubbish!!!!

  3. Well, at least they did fess up to the real factors that affect whether a given hurricane season is more or less active, that being whether we are in the El Nino/La Nina cycle in the Pacific.  That has real bearing on upper air wind conditions, which in turn really DOES determine what happens in a given tropical cyclone season.

If the upper air currents are light, you’ll get a bunch of storms, and they’ll tend to be more intense than usual.  If the upper air currents are heavy with significant shear, the tops of the storms get sheared off before they can really form, or existing storms get sheared and are kept weaker than they would be or are completely shut down, never having a chance to intensify.

That they were wrong about the current El Nino conditions is inexcusable—that’s what those long range forecasters are in business to do:  forecast things like where we are in the cycle.  I can buy the African dust as a mitigating factor, but that does not explain away the storms that tried to form but were sheared before they could gain structure.  The dust just meant that the Cape Verde tropical waves weren’t as much of a factor this year as usual.  That doesn’t mean that is the ONLY way such cyclones form, there are plenty of other triggers for them as well, it was the shear that shut those down.  It also doesn’t mean that ALL of the Cape Verde waves were shut down by the dust, because they weren’t.  The steering currents (again, affected by the El Nino conditions) turned the resulting storms north long before they became threats to land.

“Glowball Warming as a factor?” Nah, there’s plenty of residual heat in the tropical seas each and every year to spawn a whole bunch of tropical cyclones.  Some hypothetical (and I claim completely bogus) warming of the atmosphere doesn’t really have all that much to do with it, it is much more dependent on water temps than air temps anyway.  What really matters is what is happening in the upper atmosphere.

  4. Ah listen to these lunatics real close (same with the junk science of medicine of late) there is always a maybe, possible, perhaps, could be, might (et al) stuck convienently in there somewhere.

These people are a disgrace to every scientist who actually is improving, proving, creating, inventing, discovering and just plain honestly working in the field - past, present and future.

Another liberal - words (i.e. truth, facts) don’t matter that is screwing up the World and humanity until we finally stand up and say - Enough, back to the asylum for you all. Starting with their head moonbat - Al Gore.

  5. Freeze? What freeze? WTF are you talking about?

It was 50 degrees and sunny up here in Seattle.

Freeze? Give me a break. LOL

  6. Skipper, I’m out here in St. Charles, and I too am royally sick of this COLD! It was 10.2 friggin’ degrees this morning, according to my hi-tech, bluetooth, digital yabbadabbadoo outside thermometer! But tomorrow will be great - 47 degrees predicted.

If you want to read ALL the debunking of GW idiocy, download Senator Inhofe’s stuff he just presented to the senate committee. It’s damning, and rips the MSM a gaping new squeakhole.

I’m link-challenged (and scared of your wrath) so you can find the link over at (ahem) Drudge.

  7. here is the speech, a direct link

Good, sound, sane debate - something Al Gore and his ilk know nothing about.

  8. Anon: It isn’t so much a narrow observation as it is a small glimpse from my location. The weather system of the world is much too complex to be completely understood or even monitored by any one person, much less me. That is my whole point.

Yes, it has been a rough season in the Pacific this year as you well know and next year it could very well reverse. We just can’t understand all the complex interactions that go into our climate machine. We understand just enough to be able to predict tomorrow’s weather with 50% accuracy. Beyond that, we’re just guessing. The whole issue of global warming is an extension of that guesswork with even less accuracy.

I do find it interesting that you make this into an accusation of egocentricity yet you make a point of letting everyone know you wish to remain secretive about your identity. That indicates to me an immature attitude which I can hardly take seriously.
