An Impressive Lecture

 

1. Actually Michael Yon is back in the US - and he has written a book - Moment of Truth in Iraq (now available (maybe only) at Amazon). . .

   There have been many fine books and of course, Outside the Wire which has been around for a while. And there is a list of books - In the Company of Soldiers, The Heart of a Soldier, The Long Road Home, No True Glory, Lone Survivor, etc.

   Seriously I think that when history tells the story and the numbers are tallied - Books such as Lone Survivor and Outside the Wire will have done better and lasted through the test of time more than Redacted and Peace Mom.

   And hopefully that will mean the success of the GWOT and OIF.

   Don’t worry about OEF, the Marines have arrived in Afghanistan and it will be cleaned up shortly.

2. Yes. I’ve been following Yon’s Dispatches since the beginning, and I ordered a copy of his book as soon as I could scrape up the cash. Maybe I should do a review when it gets here.

   Insty has been following the sales of it too ... it’s up to #8 at Amazon ... and actually sold out for this week.
