American cargo ship captain, Richard Phillips, has attempted to escaped from Somali pirates.

 

1. Damnation. What the FUCK is wrong with the US Navy??

   They are right next to the stupid lifeboat. (well they ought to be) With all sorts of observation equipment. The bloody instant the captain jumped in the water they should have turned the lifeboat into swiss cheese. Sunk the boat from excess lead.

   Now other pirate craft are on their way to support the lifeboat? And the Navy is going to let that happen??

   NO WAY. The very fact that these ships are en route PROVES they are pirates. SINK THEM ALL.
   Use your zillion dollar computerized wonder toys to figure out where those boats came from and burn those villages to the ground, right now.

   I need a new set of swear words. The usual list just isn’t good enough any more.

2. Ok, on rereading the article, it finally sunk in that the pirates are coming in their hijacked ships.

   [cue Montgomery Burns voice] EXCELLENT! [/cue]

   This gives the US Navy a chance to rescue not just the Captain of the Alabama, but the crews of several other ships, all at the same time. They might take some loses, and some of the captives may be killed, but action is more important. Even if those other ships get sunk, that’s a risk that has to be taken.

   Meanwhile, the FWENCH staged their own rescue mission. It was not without loses, but they got the ship back and captured the surviving pirates.

   Do NOT let this opportunity slip away NAVY.

4. Drew,
   I’m ok using other words instead of the ‘N’ word. But it isn’t really as much American as ppl think. Although it may have been originally. 
   Brits were using that word even when they didn’t mean it in a pejorative way.

   For example. In the 30’s a famous Brit swing band did a number and the words in the vocal part were as follows.
   The sun has got his hat on, hip-hip-hip hoo-ray
   The sun has got his hat on and he’s coming out to play.

   He’s been tanning niggers, out in Timbuktu,
   Now he’s coming here, to do the same to you. 

   But yeah.  I did mean it in its most hateful sense. I think most ppl would use that word to describe the pirates regardless of their background. One doesn’t think of that in the emotional response to an action taken by a group.  Which of course might be hurtful to those who work hard and have no criminal instincts. If I refer to the pirates as niggers for example, it shouldn’t be taken to mean that I regard ALL negros in that light. Only the specific ones referred to.
