  1. I am still feeding the outside kitties - continue off and on to see each one - we bring the kitty chow in at noon to discourage the Wild bunch from coming here to knosh. Who knew that kit n kaboodle was racoon food?

Inside kitties are doing ok. After a massive dental bill - of course, it is always the way - get the card that it is time for the kitties annual. I wish I had the time and energy to find a low cost alternative - but I do realize the need to have a vet for emergencies and those final moments.

    Oh bother.

I have kind of gotten use to work (certainly not proofreading and grammar check) but it is a pay check. Now if all hell did not break loose around here weekly and someone - anyone else would step up to the plate and take a bit of the around-the-house-work off my back. I could get a meaningful paycheck.

    Hey, I can dream.

  2. We’ve got two kitties.
Daphne is the ‘little old lady’ of the house. 8 1/2 yrs old, just now kinda starting to tolerate Jinx.
Jinx just turned a year old. We got her from the local animal shelter last year after we had lost Daphne’s feline friend Apollo to sudden illness.
I didn’t grow up with cats (my parents aren’t too fond of cats. Unless it’s my brother’s current cat. Pretty sure she was a dog in a past life) but these two are pretty awesome.

  3. I think almost all cats are horrible except your own. They’re great. I’ve had 3 others in years past and they were outstanding as well.

  4. I think I was/am a cat - I crave routine, I get annoyed at loud noises and most people and man a nap sounds great to me - most of the day. We co-exist to various degrees with the psychotic kitty and the itty bitty kitty. They are smart enough to know that they don’t want to live outdoors at all, ever. But, except for dinner time - prefer to deal with us humans one on one. Non-cat people actually love our cats - because at the first hint of stranger-danger they both run to the basement to hide. Not at all like a couple of the more snarky cats I’ve had who would literally plant themselves on the most cat hater in the room. Of course these two run from the vacuum, the door bell, thunder, lightening and most loud noises. Cowardly little lions both.

I grew up with everything - my parents were depression era people whose own parents did not believe in a child playing at all. Animals were seen as functional only. I have a great picture of my toddler mom and her toddler little brother (13 months apart) on their pony in New York City with their aunt. So my Mom - while protesting to high heaven would give every stray a fighting chance - the itty bitty kitty is a feral that she fed his mom and had them fixed (via Alley Cats)- we took him at 6 months under the understanding that she would move into assisted living - which she never did. But horses, ponies, donkeys, sheep, geese, goats, snakes, parakeets, canaries, fish, dogs, cats and even a fighting cock (a rescue of my Dad’s doing)- not to mention Bambi after my Dad shot it’s mother. But we also grew up with the ‘don’t name the lambs it makes it hard to eat the lamb chops’ rule and as I said - Dad may have killed Bambi’s Mom and we had to hand raise it until release - but we ate venison and had deer heads, antlers and a black bear skin in the house.

We were simply raised to be realistic about animals - it is fine to treat them like pets - but everyone has a job to do. And sometimes that is to provide food for us. Venison, lamb and fish were the biggies when I was growing up in our house - but since I’ve eaten so much more - loved living in CA just for all the fresh seafood (love scallops and crab). But have added bison and camel (I love it - the store only sells ground now). Even got to liking beef liver in Germany - they know how to cook it right. Thanks to the goofy Duck Dynasty guys I tried Duck and love it. As per 90% of what I like - no one else in the house agrees.

Doing a dvd CIA baking course - last one was cream puff - profiteroles, eclairs and churros. Well his pastry cream & chocolate ganache for the eclairs was more than twice what was needed - so Sunday I did crepes to use more of it up.

Must pretend to do some work and wandering away from kitty stories.
