ahh ok.. even the 1’s with the radar dome on the top? obviously wikipedia has some errors but it only mentioned the e-3’s being used as AWACS.. and AFAIK the AWACS are the only 1’s with the distinctive radar Dome on them?
Anon is right. Those are USN E-2’s, the turboprop engines and the four vertical stabs on the tail are dead giveaways.
To the right of the E-2’s are some C-2 “Greyhound” COD (Carrier On-board Delivery) craft, and above them are P-3 (or EP-3, perhaps) Orion patrol craft. Don’t know what the craft below are, perhaps A-6 or A-7’s.
ok here’s a locator map http://www.amarcexperience.com/AMARCTour.asp
Lots of neat stuff there too. like a picture gallery with some of the markings from the WWII era Planes.. and notes from Veterans who served on the planes
I cant seem to get the pictures to show up in firefox though.. so you might have to use opera or IE. also some of the nose art is actually Desert Storm nose art..
Infinity—I’m using FF 2.0.0.6 and everything seems to be working OK. What version are you using?
Scrolling around in the pictures—there’s already nearly a dozen B-1’s there? Didn’t think that retirement program was quite underway just yet…
2.0.0.6 here too.. everything on the amarcexperience pages shows up ok except for the pictures in the picture gallery, they just stay as the image placeholder thingy instead for some reason.. all other pages and everything works ok..pictures on other parts of the site work ok and pictures at other sites.. not sure what is causing it
Infinity—perhaps check “Tools/Options/Content” and make sure you’ve got “Load Images Automatically” selected, and there aren’t any exceptions listed. I’m kinda lost after that, I’m not much of a FF guru...sorry…
didn’t see any of the skunk works in the photo. anybody know what the USAF does with its retired SR71’s and U2’s?
There’s a waiting list for SR-71s and U2’s as well as the earlier versions for parks, bases, AmVets halls, etc. Then there a quite a few mothballed for strategic use.
Hard to get rid of planes like that…
