  1. Interesting, though I have to disagree. At the basic level it’s only farming and mining. Can’t manufacture without one or the other.

But you left out imagination. What can we do with the stuff we farm or mine?

Farming, for instace, resulted in people breeding higher yield crops, spices (some of which help preserve the food during winter or transportation to market.), and herbal remedies that ultimately led to all the wonder drugs we have today.

Similar for mining, it’s imagination that turned mining into cars, computers, or even indoor plumbing, etc.

On second thought, maybe you used manufacturing as a synonym for imagination? Yeah, if I look at it that way it works.

  2. Innovation - it is one of the foundations of America.

    Ronald Reagan - great response:
“You grew up in a different world,” the student said. “Today we
have television, jet planes, space travel, nuclear energy,
    computers. ...”

Taking advantage of a pause in the student’s litany, Reagan
said, “You’re right. We didn’t have those things when we were
    young. We invented them.”

What people on the ‘evil’ rich & redistribution of wealth side ignore - is that everything purchased - from the poorest of poor to the ‘evil’ rich - is jobs from growing/mining/producing the raw materials, jobs to transport those raw materials to a factory, factory jobs to produce the product, jobs to transport those products to the point of sale, jobs to sell the products, not to mention all the jobs for the vehicle production, roads, signage, and buildings for all the steps in this continual, daily process - and the TAXES at every single point in this process. Isn’t that enough ‘re-distribution’ and/or what/when is enough?

  3. I’ll add one bit, which is also my one bit of “social justice”:

    Buy American.

  4. Find me where I can buy American bananas?

  5. Excellent points Wardmama.  The work of innovation and what powers it, is the next basic concept to add.

I’ve been playing with the idea of economic and social systems in ecological terms.  Nothing happens in a vacuum, everything has some effect on the whole, but what are the basic drivers?

That’s what I like about Bill Whittle, he lays out the basic concepts with clarity.  You can debate the rest from there.

  6. Dr. Jeff - it’s kind of simple (or am I being simplistic) - get rid of the money.

My Dad & his father, brother and to a degree Uncle - bartered with those patients who they knew had the ability to pay something. My Dad wrote off, those he knew would never be able to pay - and his Dad went almost yearly to Appalachia to do surgery for free.

It was in 1965 - that all of that changed - the government stepped in - and told my Dad - cash or insurance only. It was the beginning of the end for him.

My Dad truly wanted to simply provide medical care for people - no matter their financial situation. It is why people flew into Cincinnati from all over the country to get their ‘yearly’ with Doctor Bill. It was why he was the Doctor for the local FBI office and most of the hotels - and government killed it off. And he knew people - to even be able to get a private meeting with Princess Grace. He should have been curried as a ‘go-to’ person - but my Dad had a soul, and always tried to do the Right thing according to his belief in God. That put him on the outs with most of the ‘movers and shakers’.

We could, should and may have to barter amongst ourselves. There are rising up Christian alternatives to the ACA (Medi-Share and Christian Healthcare Ministries for example) and so on. There are legal ways to avoid the insanity going on within our government right now.

Forget terrorism, or disease or even the criminal illegal invasion - what happens when this economy collapses? I really feel it is WHEN, not IF anymore.

[Purpose for this, please read on]
I saw a poster this AM - about how the liberals have ‘changed’ the words. It was pro-life:
Instead of babies, we say fetus
Instead of killing, we say abortion
Instead of dissect, we say research
Instead of Extermination Chambers - we say Abortion Clinics.

Notice how Medical care is now consistently referred to as healthcare.

America has been lead to the brink of extinction - based upon lies, manipulation and corruption - it is time to fight back. But we have to do it based on Freedom, Individual Rights and getting rid of this out-of-control, corrupt government system. 56 Men lead the charge 232+ years ago.

Words, it’s just words. It is time to speak the Truth.
