They’d better or else Mecca gets it.
I love fatwas. I put a fatwa on the bus driver who was a bit surly this morning. I put a fatwa on Barbara Boxer for her attempt to help greedy executives defeat honest accounting.
I can’t help wonder, though, if this is a publicity ploy for Osama. As I’ve pointed out before here and here, he’s increasingly crying out for attention.
Maybe now people see the advantage of having a ‘Head Guy’ of a religion. Like the Pope, say for example. Yea I know—disadvantages.
BUT the man has no secular power, no army, no cops—a Swiss Guard to watch over the building.
The main advantage is that someone can say for definite that this IS or IS NOT correct doctrine. If you don’t like it, leave—but don’t call yourself a Catholic.
There is no such man in Islam—not even in individual sects. So, some nutjob can find some Mullah somewhere, to endorse his plan.
And there are, in fact, millions of frustrated ‘secular’ Moslems who hate this terrorist shit.
Perhaps you have read of a visit to Iraq back in 2002 by the self proclaimed demagogue, if not....it’s on the CNN .com site , heading Farrakhan visits Baghdad - July 6 , 2002
some exerpts…
“We’re very grateful to Allah that he blessed us with a safe flight to Baghdad,” Farrakhan said. “Our purpose here is to see the people of Iraq—hopefully the leadership—and to see what we can do to possibly stop a war.”
Asked if he was bringing a message to Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein from U.S. President George W. Bush, he said, “No. I bring a message from the people that I represent, and I hope it will be a message from the government.”
His comments at the Baghdad airport Friday were tempered compared to those he made in mid-June before leaving the United States.
During that news conference, Farrakhan lambasted the United States for what he charged is a plan to overthrow and possibly kill Hussein. Calling the U.S. Congress a “lynch mob,” and President Bush the “leader of a lynch mob,” Farrakhan claimed that reports Hussein had developed weapons of mass destruction and gassed his own people are unsubstantiated.”
Hence, no Fatwah will *ever* come from Farrakhan and the *Nation of Islam*.
Just my humble opinion
Some Interesting reading…
after perusing this site..I am not sure *why* they have no called for a Fatwa against bin Laden....
American Muslim Perspective in Spain
If anyone comes across the Fatwa (actual text) issued by Spains Islamic Commission...post the link.. pretty please? thanks!
Before we cream ouselves here about our fatwa wielding brethren, let’s note that there is always a cheap shot taken at the US whenever a group of these bastards makes some gesture of good will, denouncing terrorism. Don’t overlook this one: “...thank the Spanish people and the government for their attitude towards Muslims since last March 11, in particular for not taking ‘disproportionate’ measures similar to those which the Sept 11 attacks sparked in the US.” They can all eat sand and drink oil.
Fatwa shmatwa, I’m not impressed. I don’t trust any of ‘em, never will. Especially when Spain elected a socialist who pulled Spanish troops from Iraq as a result of the March 11 attack...I sure as hell don’t care what their muslims have to say one way or another.
I’m not very impressed either. If this results in some Pakistani tribal warlord planting a 45 slug in Osama’s head, then YeeHaw, I’ll be impressed, but not until then.
