Drew’s food choices? Oh please. Ask anyone married to an Italian what the five food groups are:
Tomatoes
Garlic
Basil
Olive Oil
Pasta
And you know what? They’re pretty much right. Not that there’s anything wrong with some Thai, Indian, Greek, German, or Ethiopian cuisine once in a while to mix things up.
If I leave pork at a synagogue, is it a hate-crime?
BTW, bacon makes everything taste great if it sits on a Ritz. Right Andy?
As for Drew’s food choices…
You left out bacon
Pork
Sausage
Ham
Prosciutto
Did I mention bacon?
Bacon makes everything taste better even if it isn’t on a Ritz. AND ... this’ll surprise ya.
Bacon here is tastier then the bacon back home. And there’s different kinds. Sometime though I think a lot depends on where you are in the USA with regard to some pork products. Like the country style ham in Va. is way better then what they try and pass off in Ca.
But then that’s just my taste buds talking.
btw Chris .... It’s mostly the very conservative or orthodox part of the Jewish community who don’t eat pork. The rest do. The valid reasons for the original ban hardly exist anymore, but for reasons I never understood, there are some who just prefer the dark ages.
A diet without bacon in it? No sir. Not for me.
Hey peiper, I know about different bacon. My bacon is tastier than yours!
For almost twenty years we’ve only purchased bacon, pork chops, etc, from Jean. My bacon was squealing just last week.
Jean started her business because her daughter did a 4H project. Jean now has a family business raising pigs, and doing pork. With a side of free-range hens now...eggs or the chicken.
We met Jean at the farmer’s market held on the park near our home way back when.
And don’t get me started on Bert. She runs a buffalo ranch. I don’t buy from her often now, she only accepts ‘quarters. I used to buy ‘eighths’, can’t fit much more into my small chest freezer.

That’s interesting. Didn’t know that. The reason for the ban, from the LDS point of view, was God didn’t really want to teach about microbes and trichinosis. That was up to us to learn.
