  1. I used to imagine mass killings frequently.

    I was a member of the wargamers’ club in high school. We imagined we were in command of, depending on the war, Nazi armies, Napoleonic armies, Roman armies, Arab or Israeli armies, etc.

    Yes, we imagined we were Washington, Grant, Patton, Lee, Rommel, Napoleon, Alexander, Marius, Crassus, Arthur, Pompey, Caesar, etc.

    What we didn’t do was imagine killing our fellow students. What would be the point? No territory conquered, no treasure seized, no power gained. Not even any wenches to ravish.

    What’s the point?
