Neat - I found this huge Department of State paper issued to my Great grandfather in 1903 granting him and his family ‘safe passage’ - wondered exactly where they went to need something like this. Via ancestry.com I discovered that it was the ‘passport’ of the day. He and the family did some sort of medical missionary work (he was the son of a Methodist minister) in South America - gone for a year.
The historical papers of the past are so interesting.
And like your picture - my maternal grandparents had their wedding invitation engraved on the back support of a frame for their wedding picture. I’d never seen that before.
