  1. DUDE!!!!  You need to come back.  NOW!  Next thing you now we’ll be hearing that you forgot what baseball is.  HA HA HA HA!!!!  I think the Brits put something in their tea to help Americans forget about life in the states.

  2. Oh darn! You mean?  Say it ain’t so.
    Cornerback?

So now I’m losing my memory?
Followed the game from the 50s to 60s and I forgot that? No kidding. I don’t remember ever hearing the word.

Now then .... this baseball thing you mentioned. Do they have a quarterback?

  3. No.  There is no quarterback in baseball.  Jesus Christ!  You’re losing it, man!

Baseball has those line judges and little kids on the sidelines that pick up loose balls on the field when they’re hit by those people holding sticks with the fishing line in them.

At least get your sports right!  grin

  6. Cornerback is legit. They’ve been around as long as I can remember, and I started playing football (real football, not soccer) back in the 1960s.

Next you’ll be saying you don’t remember drinking beer that’s below room temperature…

  7. When I were a sprout, the position was mostly called corner linebacker. The 6-3 defense had two corner linebackers and a middle linebacker, with two defensive halfbacks, while the 5-4 had two corner linebackers and two inside linebackers.
The corner linebackers are now called corner backs, we don’t usually see the center playing back, and the defensive halfbacks are now called safeties.
In fairness, those were the days of the T formation, with a quarterback, two halfbacks and a fullback. But I gotta say that the formations, and the plays, were easier for me to understand than some of the stuff that goes on these days.
Almost makes me feel like a curmudgeon, it does.
