A reminder for Senator Harry Reid (D-Mormon-Nevada)

  1. Thanks for posting this. President Benson was a great man, and great leader by any standard. Reid, by contrast, is a scumbag and a disgrace to the Church. I am currently attending Reid’s alma mater, Utah State University, which I am practically ashamed to admit. I am also LDS, but fortunately not even Reid can make me ashamed to admit that. Too bad we don’t have more men like Benson in the world today, we’d be covered from all these angles. Anyway, thanks again for the post.

  2. I wholeheartedly agree that Reid should be excommunicated. I’m blown away that he hasn’t been disciplined for allowing the abortion funding. Perhaps a few letters to his Stake President are in order. The list of things he has said or done against church doctrine or policy would be long, I suspect. But if Orin Hatch or Mitt Romney couldn’t get it done, I’m not sure what chance there is.

  3. We lost a good man a few days ago who was a star on and off the playing field. He was a grad of Utah State. So for every Harry Reid, remember there are more Merlin Olsens to be proud about.

  4. Reid is a gaddy aton robber.  According to mormon scripture the most evil,
detestable, heartless, scum that ever walked the earth.  As a non active mormon
living in Salt Lake City, I can testify that money and power trump morality.
Reid is doing what he’s doing with the church’s blessing.

I doubt that last sentence is true.

But short of excommunication, what can the church do? I think somebody has to bring charges in church court for excommunication to be considered. Could I do that? Could you? I really don’t know the rules about charging someone who is not a member of your own ward/branch/stake.

OTOH, I’m aware that somebody did something to get some BYU professor excommunicated and fired several years ago.

Remember when Mitt Romney had to ‘apologize’ for being Mormon? Why isn’t Reid subjected to the same scrutiny? Well, because Reid is a leftist, liberal, ‘progressive’. We know what that means. Progressives are people who make bad things happen faster.

  6. OCM

I didn’t post this for the religious content. I’m just showing that Senator Reid is going against the teachings and policies of his own church.

No surprise, I guess. Pelosi, Kerry, Kennedy, etc all go against Catholic teachings on abortion.

I’m also pointing out that Harry Reid is not somebody that any LDS should support.

If you claim to be Mormon, vote thusly. Ditto for Catholics.

But if you vote against your own proclaimed religion/beliefs, don’t expect me to trust you.

  7. Hmmm, don’t look now OCM, but it appears that your picture defies your words. They’ve obviously met, probably having sex now… I note that Religion is on top…

  8. To Christopher’s point, I hadn’t intended to make this a discussion about the religious aspect of Reid’s behavior, just to reaffirm what he had said about Reid not being a representative of his own church’s teachings. But mostly I just wanted to say thanks for posting some words from a great American, Ezra Benson, who was a great leader and patriot by any standard, religious or otherwise.

And I shouldn’t have said I am “practically ashamed” to be attending USU. It is a great school that has turned out plenty more good than it has ever turned out bad. I’m grateful to be learning there; Reid is just one little black mark on an otherwise good institution.

Sorry if I got us off-topic, but thanks again and for all the follow up comments.

You didn’t get us into a religious discussion. If there’s any fault, it’s mine.

I posted this knowing it could go there. But I thought the risk of a religious flame-war was out-weighed by the comments ex-Secretary Benson made. The public should know that Reid is a lying stack of Obama. Reid votes against his own church teachings.

    I’ll quote my previous comment:

But if you vote against your own proclaimed religion/beliefs, don’t expect me to trust you.

  10. Ok, first of all, I really liked that speech of Ezra Taft Benson.  However, the source of the video is MindCrimesInc which is a YouTube Channel.  So I go there to see what else they have published and I am completely taken aback by all the anti-semetic and 9/11 conspiracy postings!  I am not a Mormon nor LDS but I seriously doubt any would not also find much of the content to be questionable at best and offensive at worst.  As best I can figure, Mind Crimes Inc. is an Anarchy group.  It is important to check one’s sources…

In our anger and haste to stop the political socialist charge we must be very careful who we befriend and stand beside in the fight.  There are Anarchists, White Supremacists, etc. who would gladly stand in our fight against the Democrat Socialist takeover.  The enemy of my enemy being our friend may be beneficial for the short term but that friend will likely be your own enemy as well.

It’s kinda like we stir up a tea party protest and while we are shouting for freedom, there is some nut job Nazi standing beside us who is really there because Obama is black!  I don’t care what color Obama is, I care about his world view being that of an extreme socialist/communist.

Likewise, this has already happened at several Tea Party rallies, the Black Caucus was harassed on their way into the Capital building on Saturday by a few racists in the crowd!  Now I may not agree with all the Black Caucus members, especially Sharpton.  But I don’t disagree with them because of their race.  I disagree with them for playing the race card every chance they get.  MLK is spinning in his grave!  It’s reverse racism!  White on Black is no different then Black on White racism.  To be judged by one’s character rather then the color of one’s skin is the MLK message.  Well I have serious issues with most of the Black Caucus members character.  Heck, I have issues with the morals and character of most politicians, members of the media, pop culture icons, sports heros, etc.
