BBC Radio does this Friday night Westminster thing with a roundup of debates and speeches (edited of course for time) of Parliament.
While it certainly isn’t close to what you have here, none the less, listening to some of the bleating and croc. tears over the poor victims in Gaza due to Israel over reaction, is close enough to anger me. Screw world opinion. We and Israel should just go about the rightful business of flattening our joint enemies and improve the world’s gene pool.
The people wringing their collective hands and shaking heads and booing us now, would thank us when it was over. Especially since their hands won’t get dirty and they’ll suffer no boo-boos.
Drew you struck on the best idea yet - as has been shown (despite The One’s (tm) stubborn clinging to FDR’s New Deal winning the fight over the Depression) it was WWII that really pulled the country together and ‘stimulated’ the economy. So let’s clean up the radical islamic terrorists, mexican/other drug gangs and of course all the petty dictators keeping their people in despair, poverty and tyranny. WWIII. Guaranteed to stiimulate the economy, raise the standard of living (again), and of course rid the World of all of those making it dangerous, intolerant and a hostage to fear.
7-11/Citgo made noises last year that they were going to sever all contracts with Chavez.
....but they never have come out and said they really have stopped buying oil from that nutjob.
I for one will still continue to boycott 7-11/Citgo until they loudly proclaim “CHAVEZ-FREE PRODUCTS”....
Interesting isnt it. We get a Prez who wants FDR like thinking to fix our economy. Then we get a dictator elect who allows jews to be harrassed by his people with little objection. So who says you cant go home again. Its springtime on earth all over again via the 1930s.Did we just enter the twilight zone here or what???
I’m sorry, but to focus on Chavez is to ignore most of the problem. The fact is that, without the allies he has made and the ties to powers greater then he, he would just be another Trujillo, another “Papa Doc”, another “Baby Doc”, or another Batista.
No, he has powerful allies. Allies capable of presenting a powerful strategic threat not seen since the Soviet evacuation from Cuba.
His allies are the Castros in Cuba, the government of Ecuador, and Morales in Bolivia. He also has ties to the Iranians, Russians, and Chinese as we all are aware.
However, as much as I would like to see Drew’s idea implemented, the fact remains that factors ranging from likely retaliation, our own lack of will, and their power rule that out.
The “best” hope outside of hoping that internal dissenters tear the regimes apart from the inside is to pray that a major war starts between this Latin American Comintern and our Colombian allies.
Then, we simply give a blank check to our Columbian allies and hope they can carry the day.
Anything else brings to much risk of Chinese or Russian intervention, which I do not think we are strong enough to oppose yet.
Oh yes, and has anybody heard of the fact that Obama has just appointed several people advocating that we sell Taiwan down the river?
Who knew that Hu Jintao had decided to cultivate a half-mustace recently?
All I can say is that I hope that we can weather this storm intact and with enough allies to withstand the waves to follow.
