A Paltry Trillion

  1. The problem here though is that the media ie the BBC portray this as cuts. The reality is that spending is still going up, just not as much as it would under the socialists. Spending on defence is being sacrificed so that dole scrounging half-wits and Somali asylum seekers can be kept in the style they are accustomed too. The Royal Navy is going to be allowed to build two new aircraft carriers, but they won’t have any aircraft to fly from them as the F35 is delayed and the Harriers have been scrapped. However they will be able to fly the Fwench Rafaels. EU navy anyone?

And while Britain’s national debt is a paltry trillion, the United States owes $13.6 trillion.

That may well be true but Britain’s GDP is puny in comparison with the US. In real terms both countries are in the shitter.

  2. And let me add ... as if I need to. The US has a much, much larger tax base. But never mind that.
Here in the UK where I exist, and as Lyndon I’m sure already knows, Foreign Aid spending by the govt. is being increased by about 40%.  And that isn’t all.

The Mail reports that an estimated 100,000 civil servants will be entitled to take early retirement as young as 50 and still get pensions up to 2/3ds final salary.
The pols do look after their own.
