  1. Ya sure have a special knack for cheering us up, Allan. Remind me to force a slight grin. Sad, sad, sad.

  2. I have a friend who worked for a contractor maintaining computer systems at a neaby Air Force base.

His supervisor was writing fake P.O.’s and splitting the proceeds with some shady suppliers as well as ordering parts and equipment that he took home for his own use.

My friend told the company what was going on. It was not in the company’s interest to put a stop to it though because they got a percentage of what the Air Force spent on their contract. Therefore the more this guy stole the more the contracting company made.

My friend got disgusted and left. I have always thought that setting up a contract that way was just stupid. I don’t expect that the contract with this software maker will be any better. We’ll be paying for the stuff that doesn’t work as well as the replacement software that may or may not work any better.

  3. And let’s not forget the $500,000,000 the VA spent on computer upgrades at the VA hosptial in Tampa.

    It does not work.

    Had to be totally scrapped.

And no one could have figured it out $495,000,000 ago?

In my last few years in the AF I got to see some of this stuff going on and kept asking why it was the AF would have contracts written that were never satisified without having their values exceeded.  I was told it was bad contract writing.  So I then asked why it was the AF did not have a bevy of contract lawyers at its beck and call to make sure all was on the up and up figuring it’d be cheaper to pay some lawyer lots of money in order to save millions in the long run.  Hey, the contractors always dragged THEIR lawyers to our meetings.  We should have been able to do the same.

    I got no answer.

  4. Good lord!  Why is our own government so hesitant to enforce it’s own laws?  We don’t need more laws, we just need the ones we HAVE to be enforced.  You can’t tell me that fraudulent bidding on a government project isn’t against the law!

    Stupid sons o’ bitches!

These dumbasses are reaming us a new one every single day and none of them could give a shit!
