  1. I’d say something about the stupidity of being there in the first place - but if I enumerated all the stupid accidents/incidents involved in all my horse owning/riding years - well, it happens. Brave, brave woman. I’m glad that people were able to come to the rescue and save them both.

  2. She added: ‘I’ve been riding here for 20 years and never had a drama. I’ve never seen any signs and didn’t realise it was so boggy.

Well, I guess she knows now. But I wouldn’t charge her with being stupid based on her years there with never a problem till now. And no warning signs posted.

  3. Nice to see some good news for a change. (Not a knock on BMEWS, just a comment on the news in general.)

  4. Hey, I just got finished posting a Good News story! Good News: We’re Not All Going To Get Killed By An Apocalyptic Asteroid Next Year!

  5. CenTex ....

Wish there were lots more but.
It’s not that there isn’t good stuff out there somewhere. It’s the nature of things.
Crime has always been vicious I suppose, but it just seems more like these days, that bad folks can not even be shamed into better behavior.  When I was growing up, I wasn’t a boy scout. On the other hand, I really think I could have been worse except for the fact that I was cautioned my behavior reflected my family. I was also brainwashed to believe with certainty what they told me. Which was, if I did the sort of wrong that involved the police, I was never to worry much about what the cops would do to me as the family would come down on me much harder. People once felt embarrassed about things but today what once embarrassed us is seen as a triumph of some distorted kind.
Speaking of bad news, you wouldn’t want to see the things I pass on. People go to jail for serious crimes, get out and kill on the same day. And then there’s the aclu. Oh god lets not let me go there.

I wrote a note to Drew on a subject he posted in which I said that if there really is something like an “end days” then it couldn’t come soon enough.

I have grown very grumpy in my end years.

  6. Damn it! Got half-way through the story and something got in my eye. Caused it to water up so much I had problems reading the rest of the story. Hate it when that happens…
