  1. If it is true that the Chicomms and Cuba are drilling off our coasts (as I suspect it is!), why should we not be allowed a piece of our own pie?

Furthermore, I don’t remember any of the usual suspiciously well-rehearsed caterwauling from the greenie-weenies (or Watermelon Men, as I prefer to call them) about Chicomm and Cuban offshore drilling.

As for inshore drilling, somebody needs to hammer home the fact (with a pile driver, if necessary) that oil is, and will indefinitely remain, the fuel and lifeblood of Western civilization.  It is no less important to us now than it was in World War II, when it was Strategic Commodity Number One.

A nation not self-sufficient in its own strategic commodities (or capital commodities, if you want to call them that) hangs by a thread over the abyss.  That thread is the goodwill of anyone it must depend on for those commodities.  Hell’s bells, hasn’t that lesson been drilled into our heads over the last 50 years clearly enough?  Even the most pig-headed bureaucrat in Washington has to know what gas prices have become!

Energy resources are THE single most important strategic commodity.  We simply cannot afford NOT to be self-sufficient in energy resources, regardless of their kind.  God’s holy name, look at the mess we got into over the last 50 years by pretending that we COULD afford it!

Sweep aside the riffraff of regulations and redtape!  If anyone wets his pants over some notion that his pet cockroaches or maggots might be negatively impacted by a new power plant or oil field, let them keep their company (and ONLY their company) for awhile, and see how fast he comes cringing back for his cellphone, his Volvo, his Blockbuster and his Espresso!  And then let him fall on his haggard face and give thanks to the values of Western civ that made them all possible--and the oil that fueled the engines of their production!

The surest cure for any leftist is his own prescription.

  3. Thanks, Drew, I try, but I’m out of practice, since I’ve been on sabbatical so long.

Still warming up!  Hang in there.
