  1. Comrades,

Yeah… God forbid those kids should learn anything not approved by the tinfoil hat wearing Teacher’s Union. God forbid they should actually learn some LIFE SKILLS that don’t involve abortion, free condoms, or diversity/sensitivity training. And PLEASE, GOD FORBIB that these kids should show initiative, or work towards a goal that hasn’t been part of some skillset developed by a left-wing education consulting think-tank.

    Pardon me while I wretch… that’s better.

I live in the People’s Republic of Maine, so I guess I ought to get some friends together for a little road trip this weekend.

    Respects to all,

    Gwedd

  2. Well there’s 4-H which was more common in middle America, Future Business Leaders of America and there was another one which escapes me.

So sad that unless it is sanctioned, regimented and funded by the leftist gov weenies - it’s attacked and torn apart.

The army ran a program like that for teens called Summer Hire - for those of us in the offices, it was a pain but it kept the kids out of trouble, let them spend a few weeks seeing what a job was like and earn some money doing it. Too bad, here in the stateside posts, it was a joke (you basically had an hour, five minutes after the summer program ended to sign up for the next year for about 3 slots).

And we have to wonder why are kids are becoming lazy, ignorant, self-indulgent petty criminals?

  3. (soapbox mode on)

Why the kids are becoming lazy, ignorant, self-indulgent petty criminals?

Because the dhimmicrat crazy liberal pig moonbats are making every concerted effort to make sure that the kids do, indeed become lazy, ignorant, self-indulgent petty criminals. This is the future potential left-wing liberal voting block, and the donks have to make sure of their own victory, at any cost. Add this to allowing illegal aliens to vote (thank you finger motor-voter states).

    (soapbox mode off)

I’m in the frozen tundras of NH, I’ve been to the Common Man previously, and after reading this, I will make certain to go again, and to help suppoet this freedom fighter.
This is the kind of crap one expects to find in the Demokratik Socialist Peoples’ Republik of Messy-chusetts, but not in the “Live free or die” state of NH.

  4. Was it Junior Achievement, OCM?

Must have been real work moving those amphorae, eh? wink

  5. Was it Distributive Education-DE?  We had kids that worked for us who weren’t planning on going on to college, and in their jr and sr. years would get off early so they could work, and were actually tested on what they had learned on the job.

    Sound familiar?

  6. Junior Achievement is the one I couldn’t think of earlier.

Back in the old days it was called apprenticeship or journeymen (never one to be PC if I can help it) then it became OJT - now it is apparently against the ‘law.’

  7. Yeah, personal achievement has become politically incorrect. One must now be trained to look to the state for everything, personal responsibity and resourcefulness be damned. At least that’s the way the socialists in our midst want it. They ignore the fact that the achievers are the ones paying for the socialist nanny state teat.

  8. I can’t believe the judge didn’t make an exception in this guy’s case. NH must be overrun with socialist union zealots.

    shut eye

  9. There was no judge, Jester. He was fined by a bureaurocracy; the Department of Labor. Some petty bureaucrat did it.
