Jeex. I’ve been hearing the “slow down, you’re making the rest of us look bad” crap in every job I’ve ever done, from my first official job as a union member bag boy to my career in IT to anything and everything I’ve ever done where more than 3 people work together. Seems to me like I’m the only person who works with a will. Never did understand that: you work hard, the job gets done, and the days just fly by. You give value for the money, and eventually you get a raise or a promotion. Sit on your ass and time just stops, and it takes 5 lifetimes just to get to lunchtime. Every day.
Come to think of it, I got a similar kind of message as a kid in school. It was my fault that the other kids who got C’s looked bad because I got A’s. Guess they figured there was a curve, even in 3rd grade. It’s not like I studied or anything. It was all just so darned easy. And slow.
Funny how satisfying your “now” career is compared to back in the day eh Drew!
I have only had 2 employee jobs in my 54 years and both were a bore.I never have made alot working for myself but its never been money per say with me. Money and time are tools you use to make a life. Its been a fun wild ride so far and it aint over.
