Good for the Swiss! Even the Nazis never invaded Switzerland. They had enough troubles in the Balkans.

Mind you if you mention this to most jocks you will get them foaming at the mouth about North Sea oil. They usually follow this up by an attack on the evils of Thatcherism.As for the armed populace it is something which I think has major importance. When I was still in school back in the 70’s you could still buy shotguns and air rifles from mail order catalogues, much like Sears in the US. However slowly but surely pressure from antis made this become almost a taboo. Now you can’t even buy an air rifle by mail order, you have to buy it in person. A couple of years back I met up with someone I knew in my schooldays who had moved from the UK to Canada. I should add a very liberal part of Canada. She was horrified at the idea that I owned guns. In the UK in most of the urban areas it is just the same. The public have been conditioned over decades to think people who own guns are suspect. However the way I look at it is this. If the people of Libya had all owned AK47’s would a clown like Libya ever have come to power? In Britain sadly we are subjects because the government doesn’t trust the citizen to own a gun. This makes the “citizen” afraid of the government because only the police and army have guns. This is arse about face. Goverment should be scared of the public. That way they might actually do what the public want for a change instead of imposing their crap on them.
