Too cool for school dude Congrats.
That was great,I just loved it.That t-shirt with ketchup boy on it still has me laughing.
It was a truly heartwarming day (not to mention a HOT day...87 degrees. After GWB came out of that bus who cared...all the effects of the beating sun seemed to have gone away..at least for a little while. How many times in any person’s lifetime can you be in the presence of the President of the US...let alone shake his hand? It was awesome. I too shook his hand as I was up the line from Vilmar closer to the stage. All I could do is smile..I could not get any words out though. There was not enough time with the Secret Service swarming though. It was a memory of a lifetime...what can I say..
Celebrity doesn’t impress me but very nice. I was at a rally for “41” in 1988. I was there at the invite of an-unforunately late-local politician. I started out at the back of the field-house but because I was only 5.2 and soooo cute, folks kept waving me in front of them so I could see better. In the end I got to meet G.H.W. and Mrs. Bush-who told me that anyone with my (our) name was obviously a very outstanding woman, AH-NULD, andand some college Republican guys-those I WAS impressed by. It was my first election so it was kinda cool.
Btw-I like the “cowboy” shirt. In honor of MY BIRTHDAY TOMMORROW, I’ve baked some “cowboy"(chocolate-chip oatmeal) cookies to share with my vocal Jazz class.
I’m going to tell them that I brought cowboy cookies because some of the people I admire most are “cowboys”. The groups directors is a conservative Republican-I know she’ll catch on. Let’s see if anyone else does
Well Vilmar, it sounds like you had too much fun yesterday. Did you get any sleep at all last night? Congratulations on your political/religous experience.
Go Bush!!!!!
Go Astros!!!!!
Totally awesome. My girlfriend and I tried to go to the rally but got there too late. We got there a little after 11, took about 20 minutes to park, but ended up being about a block and a half away from the rally itself since they cordon off the streets just prior to the President showing up and allow nobody to the rally site at that time. Apparently, we should have gotten there several hours ahead of time but it just couldn’t happen on our schedule.
Bush is a ROCK STAR. Landslide a’comin’.
Great Pics!! That must have been something and I bet the enthusiams was incredible. The MSM doesn’t understand why people Love Bush, and they probably never will. But the pics from that rally shows it on the faces of the people. Way to go Vilmar!!
Mr Minority
awesome!
The Sobering part of “The Beast” picture is who is is standing in front of it and what is sitting on the table at arms reach. Someone has to keep an eye on the “ball”
Since I live in Ohio I am waiting for the opportunity to see the President, I have already seen the VP in July.
Congratulations, Vilmar!! Under highly different circumstances (the heat and humidity were prrobably similar), I got to meet President G.H.W. Bush when he came to visit our camp in Baledogle, Somalia in January of ‘93...right before he turned over the keys to the White House to Slick Willie. I know being in the presence of the current President at this time was much more inspiring. Way to go, man!!!
I completely agree with your comments about on-the-fence voters not voting. I never thought of it the way you put it (they can’t be trusted), but it makes sense.
Considering what is at stake, it is absolutely mystifying that someone could be “undecided.” Their heads are in the sand because there’s no room in the usual place due to the insertion of the fence pole.
I hope they all have true epiphanies instead of simply gauging wind direction. Until then, they are indeed untrustworthy.
Vilmar, you done us proud.
Waahooooooo!! great write up!
Sounds like a blast! Glad you got to participate.
I am urging all fence sitters and Kerry supporters to avoid long lines and vote on Wed. Nov. 3rd.
I’d be jealous, except that I know I’d have stood there like the emotional estrogen lacking female that I am; I’d be bawling, tears streaming in pride, and my make-up all down my face, and a silly grin on it!
As one commenter wrote, you did us proud! We’re going to be doing a weekend walk here in our 82% Republican county. That should be uplifting.
Nice Job Vilmar from your relatives in CT. GO RED SOXS!!!!!!!!!!
Way to go Vilmar!!!!!! Great pictures!!!!!!!
What an awesome experience!!!!!!!
BTW- Cards win in overtime with Jimmy Baby’s homerun!!!!!!!! Now if the Red Sox win tonight & the Cards win Thursday it will be a Cards- Red Sox World Series- too cool for words!!!!!!!!
Well, I hate to disappoint my sister and Dottie but the Yankees will pull this one out. Good Lord, I can not even imagine the bullshit associated with a Houston/Boston (Bush/Kerry) World Series! YIKES!!!! The country would never be the same again.
You LUCKY bastard, I would give my left hand to shake the hand of 2nd greatest president of the last 100 years.
Yes, Reagan is still number 1.
Anyway, GREAT article, thanks for sharing…
And yes, my hero’s have ALWAYS been Cowboys.
Man, that picture of Bush, and then my picture of Reagan, man, now that is what I call A great cowboy hero wall!!
Read with a smile throughout. Goosebumps even at some points. Great job V.
Thank you for YOUR service.
It’s the bottom of the 4th and the Yankees are down by SEVEN!!! *pumps fit* GO RED SOX!!!
BARB
Seeing the President was a big thrill helping someone who I admire and who has shown me that getting involved and speaking up see the President was and Honor. Vilmar has shown me how to make a difference. I am proud to call him my friend. As someone who use to sit the fence Vilmar showed me the way and I have never looked back. Alan S.
BTW the undecided can take this test.
