bishop to E7
Rich - “Marry, now that WOULD be a Knight to remember!”
No, I think a good move might be
1 ..., Qe4
Pawn g5.
Let me take that opening back. White is 1 move away from a clean Mate at this point (Qg7++). Black can block it with ..., Rc7 but that will cost him the Bishop, Qxf5. Pressure teh Queen with Rf7 after that? Have to protect the King and the Black Queen can’t do much about that.
Been too long since you posted one of these. This one was not so hard.
1. ... Qxg3+
2. Kxg3 g7xf6
3. b2xf6 c2xa2
The rest is just cleanup.
So how often do you guys actually play along with these things? Chess gives me a migraine.
I saw the pawn taking the Queen, save for the pin.
Then came the realization that taking the White Rook with the Black Queen solves the pin issue, and picks up a Rook to boot.
And a dozen or so moves later White is left with a single bishop, while Black has a Bishop and a Rook and can thus guard pawns in for promotion, enabling a win.
Yeah, I guess that works. I was hoping for a more dramatic ending.
I probably should have mentioned that the ‘pin’ was the motif in this problem. In this case, breaking the pin. Sorry Samoore.
