The normal functions of government

  1. I stand by a comment I made elsewhere.

All legitimate functions of government involve enforcement of laws and regulations, taxation which cannot legally be refused, or both. Therefore all legitimate functions of any government spring from defining under what circumstances it is right and proper for one citizen (like a policeman, a soldier, a homeowner defending himself, etc.) to point a weapon at another citizen and say some variation on, “do what I say or I’ll kill you.”

The fact that such a source of power is being used to pay artists so their work doesn’t have to be good enough to sell, or pay people to instruct lawbreakers in how to put the screws to their employers and the taxpayers more effectively, is insulting on such a deep level I can’t even express it properly.

  2. Unfortunately, it seems that the Obama regime is practicing the normal functions of givernment, but instead of within their own ranks, they practice on the citizens.

  3. I agree with you Grumpy, but I think you missed the point of my humorous post.

In Nyissa, the government bureaucrats were too busy spying, intriguing, and murdering each other for advancement that they had no time to oppress the ‘little people’. (’little people’, not ‘citizens’. Nyissa is a monarchy.)

Now, if we could just get the Obamacrats to spy, intrigue, and murder each other maybe they wouldn’t have time to screw the rest of us.
