  1. Just great eh? check out the age of Gunnislake bridge and horsebridge on the devon-cornwall border they still carry modern traffic, still good after 600 years!

  3. I’m ashamed to say my grandfather bought a farm with a barn not dissimilar to those shown. The barn was probably built in the Tudor times. It had not been maintained and back then (1950’) conservation wasn’t as popular as it is now so he pulled it down. There is another barn where I used to work that is of a similar construction. You can still see where the medieval craftsmen carved marks in the various sections so they could see how to reassemble them once in place. The beams are riddled with woodworm but are still sound. The thatched roof though has long since been replaced with corrugated iron!
