they are still hot on the story. Americans and guns. Like it’s their business

I made the same damn mistake today I never seem able to avoid.  Went to a site that had article on all those gun mad Americans and how almost a thousand people have already died since Newton. What I then did was something I always sucker myself into.  I want to see what comments ppl are making.
This is only a partial page I was able to scan, this is how it’s presented to the public here.
And the comments?  Yeah well, gets the old dander up, all these experts on the USA and gun ownership, and one fellow even saying how free he was to walk the streets here, as opposed to the USA.  Yeah, he’s free to walk okay.  But how safely?  They seem to avoid that a lot.  Bah.

Here. Take a look.

Here’s something mild.

The US has 5% of the world’s total population.
the US has 25% of the world’s total prison population. 1 in 4 people in prison are imprisoned in the land of the free. Strange that.
It’s just the way the privatised prison systems & the monetary incentives police get for making arrests & seizing property (The documentry the House I Live In, gives some perspective on it)
well a militia would be “well-armed” with battlefield nukes, wouldn’t it? The words mean nothing at all.
I’m confused who this militia protecting Americans from exactly - the forces of oppression who would order the US Army to oppress them? Some unorganised, some overweight civilians armed with guns are going to take down the highly trained, better armed US Army? Aren’t the US Army just a bunch of good Americans who would refuse the order to oppress their fellow citizens anyway?
& if what you’re saying is true then the current US law has sneaked around what it says in the Consitition… so using the constitution as a defence for owning guns is redundant… it’s just about contemporary law.
There were no bio weapons or nukes when the constitution was written… there were no repeating, magzine or even breech loading guns either.

Every time they want to find fault, they bring up same old thing. Prison population and 3rd world America. Schmucks!  Like the prison population is made up of only the innocent and oppressed.

I gotta stop reading comments by know nothing foreigners.

Speaking of crime and violence. Some poor guy was visiting America and was coaching football there. (Brit ball we can assume).  Dangerous, gun mad America.  So the poor fellow returns to these shore and is walking home when some wanker jumps him, and stabs him to death. Police think it may have been a bungled mugging, and no suspect in custody btw.

Some poor old lady, age 86, stabbed to death in her home by a burglar, and then set on fire.  At least we think she was already dead.  No suspects as yet.

The argument they make here a LOT is, more ppl can recover from a knife wound then gunshot. And also, guns can kill more ppl faster than a knife attack.
So based on that they think Americans should give up our guns.  I say our as an American, but I don’t have one here and am unlikely to ever be licensed for one.

OK, we have our problems back home but .... I don’t feel all that safe here I’ll tell you. Not at all.

  2. Rich, Believe me I have thought about that. And it looks like you’ve been doing some reading on the subject as I haven’t posted those stories in detail. Scary stuff.
