News Item: 146,000 new jobs added in November, nearly twice as many as the 85,000 predictded! Woo hoo!!!
News Item: Unemployment down to only 7.7%! Woo hoo!!!
Hidden Reality: nearly half of the new jobs are part time seasonal employment (ie selling Christmas Trees in the evening) and the labor force suffered MORE THAN HALF A MILLION drop-offs as folks rolled off benefits, bringing the number of unemployed to over 8.8 million.
The truth shall set you free shall make you freeze: real unemployment is 14.4%, but you have to dig for that statistic.
PS - as always, expect the November jobs numbers to be adjusted downwards in a month or two, when they are no longer newsworthy. This happens nearly every month to the data from a couple months back. Some call it a rounding error. I call it bullshit.
UPDATE: via COTR: the hidden fact that 73% of these new jobs are with the government. Crivens.
Put this up on my FB from another source, but I’m putting this one on my blog.
Don’t forget the unposted link to HotAir.
Don’t fight the dark side Luke, Give in to your feelings. And for Gods sake get a government job you idiot.
There was a poster on FB that IF calculated as in the 1930s - unemployment today would be 23% - I can vouch for that. 3 capable adults (and one not willing to be capable) - all unemployed. A couple of daughter’s school loans went into collections - nice touch, from a law office. Sent off letters already - no job, no money, no life, = no payments. Threatened (of course court action). Went to the web - yes, he is KNOWN for his sleazy collection practices (have they all gone to the gutter?!?). But I did find out, that IF they go into court and fail - the loans are completely dismissed forever. We shall see. We’ve played this game before - I know what to do and how do it.
Sad thing is - this time, I no longer feel secure that we can pull out of this, as I’ve always felt before. One is that my hubby at least had a job, so I knew we had money coming in and we were secure. That isn’t the case now. And if I can’t even get an entry level job - not sure how we are going to get out of this. Although we did talk about slamming everything into a storage shed and moving across the river into a mobile home. That could work financially. And maybe over there we could get a job (not quite feasible right now, as we’d pay taxes in both KY & OH - can’t afford that crap).
And listening to the crap coming out of DC - the crapweasel GOP is just as at fault as the democRATS.
