Even trimming a third of a million off these numbers for secondary state purposes - Kentucky, Iowa, and a couple others use NICS as part of their CCW permit process - the numbers are still out of this world. For the 4th year in a row.
Greatest. Gun. Salesman. Evah. Yes he is, mmm mmm mmm.
And while some folks are getting in a twist because the federal government put down purchase orders for a billion rounds or so (which may take years to fulfill), the situation with the citizens dwarfs that with ease:
- Start-up ammo maker HPR had to partner with an experienced wholesaler to cope with their expanding business.
- European ammo giant Norma builds entire US warehouse facility to deal with expanded US trade and markets new Norma USA ammo line.
- US firearms maker Ruger had to stop taking orders for new guns this Spring, as they had more than A MILLION orders in the queue.
- Firearms imports are up almost 150%.
- Firearms exports are up almost 50%.
- Sales are up in 2012 like never before. Maybe because it’s an election year, and we saw what happened last time?
You do realize that gun makers are big Obama fans now ,Right? RIGHT?

Let me add some estimates of my own. Those numbers also indicate a minimum of 8,000,000 firearms in the hands of private U.S. Citizens added this year alone and a minimum total of 100,000,000 added since 1998.
I figure that makes U.S. Citizens the largest army in the world.
Since I do believe in a well regulated militia, I hope they’re all spending lots of good range time. Actually come to think of it, every shooting range I’ve gone to in the last few years has been crowded.
I wonder what the DHS thinks of all that?
