Crowds gather to watch the barbaric murder of Jordanian pilot on giant screens

The little shit pictured here, looks old enough to understand that he is viewing an atrocity. But it doesn’t matter.

That confirms what many of you already know.
These are sub standard life forms that should be eliminated by any means.

Drew had suggestions yesterday that says it all.  He offered the solution I’ve been banging on about for a couple of years. But, it ain’t gonna happen.

Mores the pity.
Take a look.

BREAKING NEWS: Burned alive in a cage: ISIS release video claiming to show horrifying murder of captured Jordanian pilot

By John Hall for MailOnline

Militants fighting for the Islamic State terror group in Syria and Iraq have released a video they claim shows Jordanian pilot Maaz al-Kassasbeh being burnt alive while locked in a cage.

The footage, which is titled ‘Healing the Believers Chests’ appears to show the captured airman wearing an orange jumpsuit as a trail of petrol leading up to the cage is seen being set alight.

Flames are seen quickly spreading to the cage where they completely engulf the helpless pilot in images that are far too distressing to publish.

stop calling the poor boys terrorists, and never use insulting words when describing them.

Just when you think you have an understanding of what some words mean,
the rules change.
Apparently there are words and terms , “terrorist” being just one, that are thought to be loaded (no pun) and create problems.  Sooo, one branch of the BBC if not all of it, are to stop describing the folks who are happy to blow their own selves to kingdom come, along with any innocent bystanders, as “terrorists”.
Well heck, I suppose AQ is no longer a terror group then.
The scum who gave us 9/11 shouldn’t be referred to as terrorists either as I understand things.

Speaking of things that change. Plans are afoot here, if the woman who heads the Crown Prosecution Service has her way, to make men accused of rape in cases where the possible victim was 3 sheets to the wind at the time of said sexual encounter, must prove that they had the consent of said woman prior to the act.
In other words, you are guilty until proved innocent.

Which is unrelated to the following.

BBC Arabic Head: Charlie Hebdo Attackers Should Not Be Called ‘Terrorists’

By Brendan Bordelon

The head of the British Broadcasting Corporation’s Arabic news channel said the Islamic terrorists who killed 12 people in an attack on the Paris office of Charlie Hebdo should not be labeled “terrorists,” calling the term too “loaded.”

Tarik Kalafa is the head of BBC Arabic, a 2008 spin-off of the internationally ubiqiutous British news service that serves nearly 11 million homes across the Middle East. On Sunday, Kalafa spoke with The Independent about his network’s coverage of the Kouachi brothers, two Islamic terrorists who wreaked havoc across Paris before dying in a shootout with police on January 9.

“We try to avoid describing anyone as a terrorist or an act as being terrorist,” he said. “What we try to do is to say that ‘two men killed 12 people in an attack on the office of a satirical magazine.’ That’s enough, we know what that means and what it is.”

“Terrorism is such a loaded word,” Kalafa continued. ”The U.N. has been struggling for more than a decade to define the word, and they can’t. It is very difficult to. We know what political violence is, we know what murder, bombings and shootings are and we describe them. That’s much more revealing, we believe, than using a word like terrorist which people will see as value-laden.”

It’s the latest iteration of a media organization struggling to define those behind the worldwide surge in Islamic terrorist activities.

On Tuesday, National Review Online obtained an internal email showing the head of output at Al Jazeera English warning journalists against using the terms “terrorists,” “extremists,” “militants” or “jihadists” when describing the actions taken by radical Islamist groups. “Avoid characterizing people,” the Al Jazeera executive admonished.

NATIONAL REVIEW

The American born Mayor of London has come under fire for using incorrect and bad language when referring to the bomb throwers and suicide types. The folks who are called jihadists.

What the mayor said.

Home-grown fanatics who join ISIS are ‘losers’ who watch porn because they can’t find girlfriends, blasts Boris Johnson

· London Mayor said terrorists ‘badly adjusted in their relations with women’
· Mr Johnson said: ‘They typically will look at porn. They are literally losers
· Attack comes after psychological profiling by Britain’s spy agencies
· Around 600 jihadis have left Britain to join ISIS fighters in Iraq and Syria
· Ministers have warned ISIS now poses ‘the greatest single threat’ to Britain

By Tom McTague, Deputy Political Editor for MailOnline

Home-grown fanatics who go to fight with ISIS are ‘wankers’ who watch porn because they can’t find girlfriends, Boris Johnson has claimed.

The London Mayor said British terrorists become radicalised are often ‘badly adjusted in their relations with women’ and turn to extremism to stop them feeling like losers.

He said: ‘If you look at all the psychological profiling about bombers, they typically will look at porn. They are literally wankers.’

Mr Johnson’s remarks were blasted by some Muslim groups. But the London Mayor said his claim was ‘not remotely controversial’.
He said it was time for Muslim leaders to speak up much more forcefully against Islamist terror.

The prospective Tory MP said: ‘They are not explaining how it can be that this one religion seems to be leading people astray in so many cases.

‘They are not being persuasive in the right way with these people. I am not yet hearing it in the way we need to hear it.’

He said the ISIS fanatics tearing across the Middle East were ‘barbaric’ and ‘deserve to be treated as such’.

I’m Not A Soccer Fan Either, But This Is Too Far

ISIS Kills 13 Boys For Watching Soccer On TV

ISIS militants have executed 13 teenage boys for watching the Asian Cup football match between Iraq and Jordan last week.

The young football fans had been caught watching the game on television in the Iraqi city of Mosul, which is controlled by the Islamic State.

The teenagers were rounded up and publicly executed by a firing squad using machine guns, anti-ISIS activist group Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently reports.

“The bodies remained lying in the open and their parents were unable to withdraw them for fear of murder by terrorist organisation,’ the group writes on their website.

Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently is a small activist collective which secretly documents the shocking violence and oppression ISIS has brought to their home city.

They said the 13 teenagers were rounded up by ISIS militants in the Al-Yarmouk district of Mosul, and executed in public.

The boys’ ‘crime’ - breaking religious laws by watching football - was read out on a loudspeaker before their executions.

...

The news of the horrifying execution of the teenagers comes just days after ISIS released a video showing two men being thrown off the top of a tower block in Mosul.

Charges found against the accused were announced by a masked Islamic State fighter, using a small handheld radio.

Reading from a list, he declares the men are guilty of engaging in homosexual activities and should be punished by death, in accordance with Islamic State’s radical interpretation of Sharia law.

The Iraq-Jordan Asian Cup game, which took place in Brisbane, Australia last Monday, saw midfielder Yaser Kasim, who plays for Swindon Town in the third tier of English football, give Iraq a 1-0 win.

It’s not like they were rooting for the Joooooooos. This was the homies - homies match, yet they still got killed for it? WTF?

And while I think soccer is pretty gay, it’s not really GAY gay, so how could watching it be Gay gay, or even gayer? This is pretty effed up, but this is ISIS after all. And they are as effed up as effing eff. Plus goats with chastity belts, for reals.

islam wins another round

The Daily Mail, or as LyndonB would put it, The Daily Fail, which is supposed to be a reasonably conservative paper, continually panders to left wing expressions and word usage.

The term “far right” for many people, conjures up extremism and Nazis and unlawful acts.  It also conjures up race hate attitudes. I’d be willing to bet there are any number of people at the center and even some on the left, who are very quiet about what they really think on issues of race.

So I guess we are to believe that all these people are far right.  Are they all Nazis then?
They don’t even remind me of the KKK.

I’d say they are rightly disturbed and even angry as they see the future.

Unfortunately, it looks like tonight, the islamist bastards win another round.

Far-right ‘anti-Islamisation’ rally in Dresden is cancelled after police confirm a ‘concrete threat’ to kill a leading member of Pegida

Far-right Pegida rally in Germany cancelled after threat to kill leader

Police ban ‘Anti-Islam’ protest in Dresden after ‘concrete threat to kill’

Organisers say the ‘execution’ threat came from ‘ISIS terrorists’

Attackers planned to mingle among protesters before striking, police said

Pegida protests have grown rapidly with 25,000 at last week’s rally

By Ollie Gillman for MailOnline

A far-right ‘anti-Islamisation’ rally in Germany has been cancelled after a ‘concrete threat’ to kill one of the protest group’s leaders was made.

Pegida - or ‘patriotic Europeans against the Islamisation of the west’ - have held weekly rallies, with more than 25,000 people at last week’s demonstration.

But police have banned today’s gathering in Dresden because of the murder threat against a founder of the group, which the protesters say came from ‘ISIS terrorists’.

image

The target of the threat is believed to be Lutz Bachmann, the 41-year-old butcher’s son who founded Pegida in November, the Guardian reported.

Bachmann has overseen the protests as their numbers have grown from a few hundred to tens of thousands in just months.

According to a post on Pegida’s Facebook page, a ‘concrete murder threat’ was received.

‘[The] execution was ordered by the IS terrorists,’ it said.

image

Police have not made it clear who made the threat but said it came from a tweet, in Arabic, which described the far-right group as an ‘enemy of Islam’.

Dresden police chief Dieter Kroll said plotters planned to mingle among protesters before unleashing their attack, with no information on how it would be carried out, leading officials to cancel the demonstration.

Pegida instead called on its supporters to hang German flags out of their windows.

German politicians, including Chancellor Angela Merkel, last week joined a Muslim rally against Pegida at the Brandenburg Gate in central Berlin.

of course it is islam

An especially articulate editorial from Politico Magazine.

I can’t think of anything to add that would enhance it any.

I think it’s only fair to warn you though .... this is NOT a right wing site.  There may be other articles here that are in direct contradiction to many things we at bmews believe.

Of Course It Is Islam

Politico Magazine

By Rich Lowry

It is settled: The Paris terror attacks had almost nothing to do with Islam. If there is any doubt about this, consider that on the one hand, you have the chilling new tape of the Charlie Hebdo attackers declaring, “We have avenged the Prophet Muhammad,” and on the other, you have the tortured reassurances of White House spokesman Josh Earnest.
Which are you going to believe?
The Obama administration’s mind-bogglingly determined refusal to say that we are at war with “radical Islam,” together with the left’s evasions about Islamic terrorism, means that there has been a haze of euphemism and cowardice around what should be a galvanizing event in the West’s fight against terror.
In the immediate aftermath of the attack, Howard Dean opined on “Morning Joe” that the Muslims who had killed the staff of Charlie Hebdo aren’t Muslims. Not usually known as a leading Orientalist, the former Vermont governor shared his interpretation of one of the world’s leading Islamic terror groups, “I think ISIS is a cult. Not an Islamic cult. I think it’s a cult.”
Dean didn’t specify what kind of cult ISIS is, if not Islamic. Or what otherwise accounts for its strange obsession with taking over territory in Syria and Iraq to establish a caliphate and to impose a harsh version of Islamic law.  continue reading

Passport Seizures To Keep UK Jihadis Out

David Cameron is to fast-track plans to confiscate passports and stop those who have joined terror groups returning to the UK.

By Jason Farrell, Senior Political Correspondent

Britons suspected of plotting to leave the UK to join IS could have their passports confiscated under new laws, David Cameron has said.

Returning British jihadists could also be barred from returning to the UK for at least two years.

The new measures to combat terrorism will be introduced to Parliament by the end of this month, the Prime Minister announced.

(sure thing dufus. Give them a couple more years to train and pick up newer skills. )

In a speech to the Australian Parliament in Canberra, David Cameron said: “We have to deal with the threat of foreign fighters planning attacks against our people.”

The PM said the root cause of terrorism is not poverty or foreign policy, but “the extremist narrative” of hate preachers.

(that’s a fair statement as far as it goes. but he didn’t mention how peaceful islam is)

He said: “We must confront this extremism in all its forms. We must ban extremist preachers from our countries. We must root out extremism from our schools, universities and prisons.”

Under the new powers, police and border officers could temporarily confiscate a passport if they have “reasonable suspicion” that an individual is travelling abroad to engage in terrorism-related activity.

Those passports could be seized for up to 30 days with a magistrate’s review after 14 days - and they could be taken multiple times.

The individual would also be placed on a “no-fly” list for the duration of the order.

Fer gosh sake they can’t even deport hardened criminals and look how long it took to deport the hook handed one eyed preacher of death to the USA.  10 years, was it?  I can’t remember but you can look it up. Was very long time.

Those who persisted in trying to get back might then be escorted by UK authorities and could either face prosecution in the UK or be put on Terrorism Investigation and Prevention Measures (TPIMs)

David Cameron told the Australian Parliament: “Your Prime Minister has given a strong international lead on this, helping to galvanise the UN Security Council with a powerful address.

(not one word about firing squads or long jail time.  Oh dear, how frightening. Put on the list above.  Yeah. That’ll put the frighteners on them for certain.)

He added: “We must work with the overwhelming majority of Muslims who abhor the twisted narrative that has seduced some of our people.

We must continue to celebrate Islam as a great world religion of peace.”

Well, about time he got to that.  We knew eventually he would. Didn’t we?

Have you guys noticed that almost every time a politician knocks the terrorists, they end with the reminder that islam is ...
say it all together now .....

lots more see/read at skynews

actually, there is much of some interest.

police in anti terrorist raid … belgium tonight

Even usually quiet, little Belgium.

BREAKING NEWS: Anti-terror raid in Belgian town centre ‘leaves two dead after 10-minute gun battle with Islamic State cell sent back to carry out attacks on Europe’

Official says that the police anti-terror raid is ‘jihadist-related’
Men targeted were under surveillance having returned from Syria last week
Islamic State video yesterday called for lone-wolf attacks in Europe
Comes after investigators said they were probing local arms dealer
He is believed to have sold weapons to deli killer Amedy Coulibaly

By Peter Allen and Damien Gayle for MailOnline and Reuters

Two people were killed by police during a ‘jihadi-related’ anti-terror raid tonight in the Belgian town of Verviers.

Shots and explosions were heard, including machine gun fire, as officers moved against an alleged cell in the eastern town, which is some 70 miles from Brussels.

It follows three days of violence in nearby France, which left 20 people dead, including three Islamic State and Al Qaeda linked terrorists.

Officials said the targets were a jihadist cell who had recently returned from Syria and had been ordered to carry out attacks in Europe by Islamic State superiors

Hooded commandos were seen in Verviers, near Liege, shortly before 6pm, and according to Belgian prosecutors they were trying to arrest Islamic extremists newly returned from fighting in Syria.

‘An operation is under way,’ a source in the mayor’s office told AFP without giving further details. Another official separately told the agency the incident was ‘jihadist-related’.

Beyond the dead – who number two or three – a ‘number of people were also arrested,’ said the local judicial source. Belgium, which has long been home to a large Muslim population, is believed to have the highest proportion of citizens who have left to fight in the Middle East, after Britain

Automatic weapons and a rocket launcher used in the Charlie Hebdo and Kosher supermarket attacks in Paris were purchased from Belgian gangs, police said earlier this week.

The Scorpion machine gun and the Tokarev handgun used by Amedy Coulibaly during his attack on the kosher supermarket which resulted in the deaths of four Jewish Parisians came from Brussels and Charleroi.

And the Kalashnikovs and rocket launchers used by the Kouachi brothers to attack the offices of the Charlie Hebdo magazine, killing 12, were purchased by Coulibaly near the Gare du Midi in Brussels for less than £4000.

There was no immediate confirmation of any link between the Coulibaly investigation and Thursday’s raid.

One man, Neetin Farasula, from the airport city of Charleroi in French-speaking southern Belgium, is in detention on suspicion of a possible link to the weapons used in the Paris attacks.

lots to read, source.

a rally against terror. Hey, anything that’ll scare the hell outta those sobs is jake with me.

I may need some guidance on this. Really.

I’ve been thinking that all this gathering and marching stuff is delusional. I read statements from ppl (politicians and just plain folks) who say they’re going to show the terrorists everywhere .... what exactly?  The vermin won’t be impressed and are no doubt laughing up the old sleeve. What I see is another Lady Di mass outpouring of grief, but not just that alone. I think ppl in today’s pc world think they need to show (or appear to show) grief. And they clutter the streets with flowers with messages to the departed. It all seems so dumb to me. Why the flowers and notes and not just flowers either. Ppl go out and buy stuff besides flowers. Like stuffed toy animals. Ain’t that cute. Why not instead simply donate the money spent on all those flowers, to charity, in the names of the deceased?  Or donate to your church quietly. Oh, can’t do it that way. Must make it public. Look at me, see my tears. I’m sad.

A couple of weeks ago, in Kenya, islamic terrorists hijacked a bus at gunpoint and shot dead 28 people who were not muslims. Folks were told to recite verses from the koran. Those who couldn’t, were shot.

I guess where you’re shot and in whose company determines how large the grieving crowd will be and how many pointless flowers will be left.

Meanwhile ... see my last post ... in the name of civil rights there’s a good chance a bill will be blocked with regard to allowing trained terrorists back into the UK.

Not to worry however.

If something happens here, we’ll have a big rally against terror.  You bet.

First a march and then a rally.

That’ll scare em.

Mickey Rooney to Judy Garland.
Hey, I know.  Lets put on a show.

how not to protect your country

Caught a headline in paper but couldn’t find the darn link anywhere.

Found in the Sunday Mail in an article by Simon Walters.

MPs blast plan to block extremists’ return to UK

Plans to bar terror suspects from entering the UK will be condemned in a parliamentary report tomorrow – despite fears that jihadis could be planning a Paris style attack on the streets of Britain.

Blocked by whom?

The usual useful idiots.

Members of the joint committee on Human Rights are expected to oppose moves to stop UK nationals returning to the country after fighting in Syria and Iraq on the grounds of “civil liberties”.

As Lyndon has pointed out, and Wardmom too.

Political correctness is gonna get us all killed.

racists, homophobes and all-purpose bigots.

image and more read here

A white and French (?) woman, one among very many European nationals who are not all racially related to the usual vermin.
There are jihad volunteers from almost every European country fighting for aq. and isis.  As well, there are many native born muslims fighting as terrorists also.
A very few have joined up to fight the jihadists, but not in enough numbers to matter a lot and certainly not enough to make a major news story.

So then, authorities know and the media has reported on these folks. More than once. It isn’t news anymore.

But …

UKIP leader Nigel Farage has come under attack for an interview last week, in which he spoke poorly of Britain’s experiment with politically correct multi culture AND,
he described the sort of vermin (my word not his) as a 5th column.
Which of course I have banged on about for years.  Not that it took any brains to work it out.  Just eyes and ears.  It was like, E + E = 5th column.
Not only did libtards jump on his case, but so too did a few conservative (lite) people including that weak fish prime minister “Call me Dave” Cameron.

The msm , which is usually a step or two behind most of the public , really dumped on him with headlines like:

Farage’s exploitation of the Charlie Hebdo murders is a new low

The Ukip leader’s attack on multiculturalism is a demonstration of his malign intent.

Referring to UKIP members as follows;

With its assortment of racists, homophobes and all-purpose bigots, Ukip may have raised the shock threshold in British politics, but Nigel Farage’s response to the Charlie Hebdo murders is still breathtaking in its cynicism.

left wing bs source

Lets see what Farage said. You decide. Did he say the right thing at the wrong time?  keep in mind as you read this, he was being interviewed and responded to questions.

Should he have waited?  Answered in a different way so as to insure nobody would take offense or misunderstand?

I think bmews readers know the answer.

“What should have been done is we should have had a controlled immigration policy and made sure we did full checks on everybody who ever came to this country from anywhere – and that applies to everyone else. We in Britain, and I’ve seen some evidence of this in other countries too, have a really rather gross policy of multiculturalism. By that, what I mean is that we’ve encouraged people from other cultures to remain within those cultures and not integrate fully within our communities …
I don’t think anyone can pretend there is a quick fix to this. We have, I’m afraid, and mercifully it’s small, but we do have a fifth column within our countries.”

More Terrorism In France

Hebdo Suspects Surrounded?

Second Attack Kills Two At Kosher Grocery Store, Hostages Taken

Last update today: Not without a cost. Several of the grocery store hostages killed (there were more than expected), at least one police officer wounded. Not clear whether hostage deaths were “friendly fire” or not.

It was initially hoped that all hostages in the shop had been saved - but it is now clear that a number died.

Others have been critically wounded, including a police officer.

Reports in the French media suggested that at least some of the hostages were killed before the raid.
...
female accomplice Hayat Boumeddiene whereabouts still unknown?

UPDATE: ALL 4 TERRORISTS SHOT DEAD. All hostages freed.

the latest suspects

Two intense standoffs with gunmen were underway in and around Paris early Friday afternoon—one involving the two brothers wanted in the Charlie Hebdo massacre and the other a hostage situation at a kosher grocery store near eastern Paris’ Porte de Vincennes.

It was not immediately known if the two situations were related, but both underscored France’s nightmare and anti-terrorism fight.

The hostage situation spurred police anti-terror units and the French internal security directorate, known as the DGSI, to race to the scene in eastern Paris, the city’s prosecutor’s office said. Hostages were taken after a shooting there or nearby.

CNN affiliate France 2 aired live video of police tactical teams getting into position at the scene of the standoff.

Meanwhile, law enforcement officers had also surrounded a building about 40 kilometers (25 miles) northeast in the town Dammartin-en-Goele.

Authorities have expressed a high degree of certainty that they have surrounded the Kouachi brothers—the suspects in Wednesday’s killing of 12 people at the offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo—in Dammartin-en-Goele, which is northeast of Paris and a few miles from Charles de Gaulle Airport.

The Kouachi brothers have released a statement saying they want to die as martyrs. Ordinarily I’d say fine, let them. But I think that’s too good an end. Capture them, and let France set the clocks of justice back to 1247 or so. Time to get some “mid-evil” vengeance.

Two people were reportedly dead in a second Islamist hostage situation in Paris, 25 miles south of a printing plant where police had the suspects Wednesday’s massacre at a Paris satirical magazine holed up, authorities said.

The hostage take[rs] in the second case, at a kosher grocery store in eastern Paris, were identified by police as Amedy Coulibaly and Hayat Boumeddiene, a couple suspected in the murder Thursday of Paris Police Officer Clarissa Jean-Philippe as she attended to a routine traffic accident in the city. Authorities believe the case is related to Wednesday’s attack, which 12 people, including two cops, dead at the publication Charlie Hebdo, which has angered Muslim radicals by publishing images of Prophet Muhammed.
...
Meanwhile, two people were reportedly dead in connection with a separate hostage situation in a kosher grocery on the east side of Paris, where a gunman armed with AK-47s was believed to be holding as many as five hostages, including women and children.
...
French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said that 88,000 security forces have mobilized to find the brothers after the attack on the Charlie Hebdo offices on Wednesday.

On Thursday, U.S. government sources confirmed that Said Kouachi had traveled to Yemen in 2011 and had direct contact with an Al Qaeda training camp. The other brother, Cherif, had been convicted in France of terrorism charges in 2008 for trying to join up with fighters battling in Iraq. The sources also confirmed that both brothers were on a U.S. no-fly list.

Fox News was told the investigators have made it a priority to determine whether he had contact with Al Qaeda in Yemen’s leadership, including a bomb maker and a former Guantanamo Bay detainee.
...
Nine people, members of the brothers’ entourage, have been detained for questioning in several regions.
...
A third suspect, 18-year-old Mourad Hamyd, surrendered at a police station Wednesday evening after hearing his name linked to the attacks. His relationship to the Kouachi brothers was unclear.

Was Hamyd the driver? I don’t know. Details emerging over time, as usual.

Even in Australia?

Is there anything I need to add to this?

UPDATE: Listening to radio report (after I posted this).

The scum apparently well known to police. He was on bail for murder (of wife) and had a looooooong record of sex attacks.  40 since ‘07.
And oh yeah.

He was an Iranian refugee been in Australia for awhile. His record goes back to 2007.
Radio saying he was shot dead, possible hostage dead as well and a number carried out on stretchers.

I guess he was never deported or tossed in prison because nobody wanted to be seen as islamophobic or raaaaaacist.

So he was out and free to commit acts of violence against the public.

Wardmom has it exactly right in a comment on my post yesterday.

Gunfire And Blasts As Sydney Cafe Stormed

Sky News

Police have stormed a Sydney cafe where hostages have been held for the past 17 hours, running into the building amid a barrage of heavy gunfire.

At least half a dozen heavily-armed police threw flash grenades through an entrance to the building, then advanced into the cafe with their guns raised.

A series of loud explosions were heard at the scene before glass shattered onto the pavement from a nearby window.

Moments earlier at least five more panicked hostages escaped from the Lindt cafe in the city’s central business district.

Seven people were also taken from the Martin Place cafe on stretchers. Five of those hostages are being treated at the scene.

An elderly lady was helped from the cafe by specialist police officers. One woman was seen with blood spattered on her foot.

There was a series of loud explosions and flashes as officers rushed through the building’s entrance.

A man dressed in bomb-disposal kit also stood poised to enter the premises.

image

Police have confirmed that the siege has now ended.

The gunman has been named as Sheikh Man Haron Monis , who is notorious in Australia for sending abusive letters to family members of soldiers killed in Afghanistan.

The siege began at 10am local time when Monis - who was previously known to both Sydney police and media - entered the cafe in Martin Place carrying a pump-action shotgun.

Hostages were seen holding a black flag with white Arabic text similar to those displayed by the Islamic State group.

Footage showed Monis apparently using one hostage as a human shield.

Interesting tactic!

More than 80 wounded U.S. combat veterans and their families have filed suit against several of the world’s largest banks, which they accuse of facilitating financial transfers on behalf of Iran that directly led to the killing and wounding of U.S. troops in Iraq, according to court documents obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

U.S. Veterans Sue Big Banks for Facilitating Iranian Terrorism

If they can prove it, go for it!

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
