Dumb and dumber just got stupider.

Starting next month begins the first stage of a ban on powerful vacs.
Another stupid lefty idea to save the planet.

Brussels bureaucrats are banning the best vacuum cleaners on sale in Britain, it was revealed today.
New EU rules have slashed the power of vacuum cleaners in a bid to save energy. It means that from next month new vacuums with motors above 1,600 watts will be outlawed.

However, some of the top rated cleaners will fall foul of the new rules because their power rating is above 2,000 watts.
Consumer watchdog group Which? has warned consumers to “act quickly” if they want to buy a more powerful model.

The European Commission claims its new rules, which are intended to help tackle climate change by cutting Europe’s energy usage, will mean consumers “get better vacuum cleaners than ever before”.
However, Which? said of seven “best buy” ratings awarded by its vacuum cleaner reviewers since January 2013, five of them have motors of more than 1,600 watts.
It said: “If you’re in the market for a powerful vacuum, you should act quickly, before all of the models currently available sell out.
“A Best Buy 2,200w vac costs around £27 a year to run in electricity - only around £8 more than the best-scoring 1,600w we’ve tested.”

One vacuum cleaner facing a ban is the Miele s8330 model, which has a 2,200 watt motor and advertises its “best buy” credentials on its manufacturer’s website.
The EU has already banned power hungry plasma TVs and traditional light bulbs, which prompted a rush by consumers stocking up on them before they became obsolete.

Consumers have moaned that energy-efficient replacements bulbs were more expensive and took too long to warm up.
The average power of a vacuum cleaner on sale in Europe is 1,800 watts. This will have to be halved within the next three years, as the limit of 1,600 watts will be reduced to just 900 watts from September 2017.

But Brussels has denied that its latest rules on vacuums, which come into force on September 1, will affect consumers’ ability to clean their homes properly.

European Commission spokesman Marlene Holzner said: “As a result of the new EU ecodesign and labelling regulations, consumers will also get better vacuum cleaners. In the past there was no legislation on vacuum cleaners and companies could sell poorly performing vacuum cleaners.

“Now, vacuum cleaners that use a lot of energy, that pick up dust poorly, emit too much dust at the exhaust of the vacuum cleaner, are noisy or break down prematurely will not be allowed on the market anymore.

“This means a better cleaning experience and less time and money spent on vacuum cleaning.”

the right to protest somehow turns out to be the right to deny you shopping unhindered

This isn’t the only business to be picketed by these meatheads.  And they are everywhere. Like insects.

Another supermarket targeted and closed for four hours over fear of crowd demanding “justice for palestine” by idiots who don’t seem to realize that most if not all the products come from places other than Israel. Poland for example.
Another source is Egypt for typical Jewish item called Matzoh. Crowd of fools would not be interested in the facts anyway as their agenda for the most part I think, is a desire to belong to a movement of almost any sort, where they can wave placards and shout slogans and look really cool. To themselves. That doesn’t hold true for all of them course.  The rest are also idiots and most likely have a score with not simply Israel, but Jews anywhere.  However, afraid of being arrested by the police who are ruled as all here are, by a slavish devotion to political correctness, they can vent against Israel as a blind in place of …. JEW!

Birmingham MP Shabana Mahmood hauled in by Labour bosses after this video of Sainsbury’s Gaza protest

A Birmingham Labour MP who took part in a pro-Gaza demonstration which forced a city centre supermarket to close has been hauled in for talks with the party leadership.

she posted a video to her YouTube account, filmed as the demonstration took place, boasting that the store had been forced to shut and lose business because it sold goods from Israeli settlements.

She said in the film: “We’re calling on Sainsbury’s and all other stores that trade settlement goods that they stop doing so.”

Labour has now issued a statement saying that Ms Mahmood, a Shadow Treasury Minister, does not support a boycott. Instead, she supports “proper labelling of goods”, the party said.

In the film, Ms Mahmood appears to be calling for a boycott of goods produced in Israeli settlements in the West Bank, an area of land effectively under Israeli control but which should be part of an independent Palestinian state, according to United Nations resolutions. She does not call for a boycott of goods made in Israel itself.

Speaking at the Birmingham protest, Ms Mahmood said: “A peaceful protest outside of a Sainsbury’s store in central Birmingham.

“It’s half past three and the store has actually just shut as a result of the peaceful protest, that’s about four and a half hours worth of business that Sainsbury’s is losing for supporting goods from the Israeli settlements which are illegal under international law.

“So we’re calling on Sainsbury’s and all other stores that trade settlement goods that they stop doing so, that they do not support people who have broken international law.

“There’s been a huge response today just here in central Birmingham, incredible to see, and the passion here of all of the people campaigning is incredible to see.”

In another film on her YouTube account, taken outside the BBC headquarters in London on August 9, she calls for “a two state solution”, which would mean Israel and Palestine both existing as independent states in line with United Nations resolutions.

A Labour Party spokesperson said: “Ed Miliband has been clear that Labour does not support boycotts of Israel and we resolutely oppose the isolation of Israel.

“Labour remains committed to a comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution, international law and a secure Israel alongside a secure and viable state of Palestine.

“Having spoken to her, Shabana has made clear that she does not support calls for a boycott of Israel but supports the proper labelling of goods from the region as per the DEFRA guidelines.”

I guess she now receives a get out of jail card.

Peaceful protest. Sure.  As long as no customers even try to get into the store.  Judging by the photos at the link, they have a protest right, but you don’t have a right to shop unhindered by vermin laying in isles blocking your path.

lefty blockhead professor claims garden show is secret racist rant or, idiot gets his 15min fame

In the past I’ve complained a lot about the politically correct left always banging on about race issues even where none existed.  And if not, they would create one.
I’ve complained about pc meatheads who are offended on behalf of some other person or persons, even where the suspected offended party turns out not to be so.
Things just get dumber and dumber until we become so numb to things, we ignore it all.  And at one time or another, most of us ask if it can get any worse and any dumber.  Well … boy oh boy did I find a corker today in a morning paper.

Here the scary part before I share the article.

I was not surprised and you won’t be either.  And that is unfortunate.

Brief background.
Radio program been on for many, many years. It’s a program devoted to gardens and the millions of ordinary folk who love, nurture and tend them. The Brits are big on gardens and flowers.  It’s a national passion. So this radio program broadcasts as, Gardeners’ Question Time.
Now what the heck could possibly be racist about a garden show?

Ah well … seek and you can find whatever your twisted brain and black heart want to find.  You can even make things up, and if you’re a bearded stupid looking dweeb college professor, you can get people to pay attention.  Even if many will think you are a nutter.

Just another example of what our world has come to. And only someone from the left could dream this one up.

Gardeners’ Question Time? It’s so racist: Sociologist rails at references to ‘non-native’ plants

With its amiable discussions on greenfly and compost, it may seem as innocuous as a radio show could be.
So regular listeners to Gardeners’ Question Time will be surprised to find it caught up in a race row.
For an academic claims that Radio 4’s long-running programme is spreading covert racist stereotypes disguised as horticultural advice.

Dr Ben Pitcher, a senior lecturer in sociology at the University of Westminster, says the panel show is ‘saturated’ with racial language.
From debates about native and non-native plant species to advice about the purity of different soil types, the programme’s resident green-fingered experts are secretly feeding nationalist and fascist fantasies, he claims.

Speaking on another Radio 4 programme, Thinking Allowed, he said: ‘Gardeners’ Question Time is not the most controversial show on Radio 4, and yet it is layered with, saturated with, racial meanings. The context here is the rise of nationalism. The rise of racist and fascist parties across Europe. Nationalism is about shoring up a fantasy of national integrity. My question is, what feeds nationalism? What makes nationalism powerful?’
Dr Pitcher said there is a ‘crisis in white identity in multicultural Britain’ caused by the fact that ‘white culture’ is historically associated with racism and far-Right views.

White people are therefore forced to find other ways of talking about white identity – such as through gardening – so they do not appear to be racist.
Speaking on the same programme, Lola Young, a crossbench peer and former professor of cultural studies, agreed with Dr Pitcher’s argument. She added: ‘I remember back in the late 80s-early 90s when rhododendrons were seen as this huge problem, and people were talking about going out rhododendron-bashing.
It is not the first time Gardeners’ Question Time has been embroiled in a race row.

In 2008, listeners complained after a plant known as a ‘black man’s willy’ was mentioned. The BBC was accused of ‘pandering to political correctness’ after it apologised.

Last night horticulturalist Stefan Buczacki, who was on the programme for 13 years, said Dr Pitcher’s claims were ‘utterly absurd’.
‘Many things have been said about Gardeners’ Question Time, but you can’t say it is racist,’ he said. ‘His comments show a complete lack of understanding of the natural world.

‘Gardeners understand the fluidity of species over space and time.
‘They come and go, and adapt to different environments. That is what we mean by native and non-native species. It has nothing whatsoever to do with nationalism or racism.
‘There is enough real racism in the world without looking for it in places it doesn’t exist.’

WAYS THE PROGRAMME COULD BE PERCEIVED AS RACIST

NATIVE VERSUS NON-NATIVE SPECIES: The show’s experts often warn gardeners of the dangers of introducing foreign species of plant to a garden, and the importance of weed control. But is this actually a racist code?

SOIL: According to Dr Pitcher, nationalists often use the metaphor of soil to discuss ethnic purity. Are the Gardeners’ Question Time discussions about compost and soil types as innocent as they seem?

RHODOCHITON VOLUBILIS: A 2008 episode outraged some viewers when a caller asked for advice on how to care for the perennial climber, commonly known as ‘black man’s willy’.

SPADE: To most gardeners, it is no more than a simple garden implement. But in America, the word has long been a derogatory term for African Americans, equivalent to n*****.

BLACKFLY: Listeners often call in asking how to rid their broad beans of the pesky black bean aphid, commonly known as blackfly. But is there a secret racist subtext?

Pol.correctness rules the day again. And the muffin brains send another person to diversity training.

Even so, while I’ve heard of DT, read about ppl being made to attend those useless things, I had no idea there was one for each and every group. Apparently there’s one for the odd guys, one for travellers, and now it appears there’s even one for darkies too. I guess the pc muffin heads have designed one for every group and eventuality that can be imagined. And best of all, from their muddled pov, it only take one offended person to trigger an alert and send someone off to the diversity and sensitivity gulag for retraining.

So Uncle Joe wins after all.

Councillor, 70, who called herself the ‘nigger in the woodpile’ is sent on equality and diversity course

A 70-year-old councillor who called herself ‘the nigger in woodpile’ has been sent on an equality and diversity course.

Convent-educated Elizabeth Peters used the offensive term while speaking to a member of the public after a Stroud District Council meeting.

The grandmother, who runs a bed and breakfast in Brimscombe, Gloucestershire, and organises the village fete, apologised but said the phrase was commonly used when she was young.

She said: ‘I’m 70 and grew up with this kind of thing. It was just something which slipped out. It was not directed at anyone except myself.

‘There were no foreigners around. I have already apologised to the two people who were upset.

‘I have also gone through with what the council wanted me to do – go on an equality and diversity course.

‘It will cost me £150 plus transport to London or Birmingham. It’s a really costly mistake.’

The phrase, used as a metaphor to describe a hidden fact or problem, originally referred to fugitive slaves who hid in piles of firewood in the American Deep South in the mid-19th century.

Last night Tory councillor Mrs Peters told the Mail: ‘I’m a Christian and believe you should love everyone whoever they are, regardless of their colour or creed, so I think for me to go on this course is a bit silly.

‘I’ve already done equality training with the council, but it was mainly on gays and travellers.’

She said she used the offensive phrase after a council licensing meeting last month, adding: ‘There were three of us on the panel. Two thought one thing and I thought something else. I was not being racist. I used the phrase to describe myself as the odd one out.

I’ve taken parts out of the article by Richard Littlejohn, but recommend all of it.

There isn’t anything I can add or want to add. He seems to say it all, and far better than I am able.

There have been demonstrations in London against Israel and Jews in general while in France, there have reports of Jew hunting thugs out for fun, which unfortunately for their victims, they have found. Cars set alight in Paris etc. Like burning cars and beating up people and burning their property will frighten Israel.

So anyway .....

Some people seem to think that because Israel has pretty effective air defences, it should absorb the pain and not retaliate.
Israel shelters behind sophisticated technology. Hamas hides behind women and children, in schools, hospitals and mosques.

Yet, as far as its useful idiots in Britain and Europe are concerned, Israel is the only one guilty of ‘war crimes’, no matter how many precautions it takes to avoid innocent deaths.

Hamas has no regard for human life, on either side. Every death is a propaganda victory, amplified by gullible sympathisers in the Western media.
But there is rarely any condemnation of this cynical campaign of terror, or of its oil-rich sponsors who want to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.
The Stop The War crowd are myopically selective in their indignation.
They’ll overlook all manner of atrocities in the Muslim world and in the former Soviet bloc, but become incandescent with fury when Israel exercises its inalienable right to self-defence.
Underlying all this is a nasty streak of anti-semitism, the unholy alliance between the self-styled ‘liberal’ Left and stone-age Muslim headbangers.

indiscriminate anti-Jewish sentiment is rising in Britain.
Security has been stepped up at Jewish schools and synagogues.
A shop in Manchester, for instance, is targeted by pro-Hamas demonstrators every day because it sells some goods made in Israel.

Again, though, this is knee-jerk stuff. There’s no consistency.
Protesters call for a boycott of Israel, but they’re not prepared to throw away their mobile phones, laptops and satellite set-top boxes which would be useless without Israeli technology.
They’re like the ‘anti-globalisation’ crowd, kitted out in Nike trainers, sipping skinny lattes from Starbucks and organising riots on iPhones. The absurd contradictions are lost on them.
Most of this is mindless posturing, unthinking exhibitionism, part of the modern curse of everyone living in their own movie. They all want to be in on the act, complete with fetching intifada scarf as fashion accessory.
I keep wondering if we could ever win a conventional war these days.

You can just imagine the ‘We Are All Hamas Now’ crowd in 1944, marching on Downing Street.
Even as the doodlebugs were raining down on London, they’d be screaming that the D-Day invasion was ‘a disproportionate use of force’, wringing their hands over civilian casualties in Berlin and demanding that Churchill was prosecuted for war crimes.

Yet among the gormless rent-a-mob, there are dangerous people who wish not just Israel but all of us serious harm.
They’re the same hardliners who cheered as the planes hit the Twin Towers, who justified the London Transport bombings and want to impose Sharia law in Britain.

Israel is in the frontline of global jihad, but we’re on the list, too.
It’s all very well to lament that Israel is losing the battle for world opinion.
But Israel is fighting a real war, not a propaganda war, one that it can’t afford to lose.
And what if a rocket fired at Ben Gurion airport had hit a British Airways plane, killing all the passengers on board?
Does anyone seriously believe that Hamas would have genuinely regretted the innocent loss of civilian life, despite the widespread support it receives in Britain?

Of course not. We are all infidels now.

Tackling ‘accentism’ - discriminaton against people with regional accents - is as important as the fight against racism, ageism and sexism, it has been claimed.

Prejudice against certain accents is the ‘last taboo’, according to Manchester University linguist Dr Alex Baratta, who says people are made to feel ‘fake’ when they have to ‘posh up’ while talking.

Dr Baratta is calling on employers to promise that job applicants’ accents will not be used against them in the same way as gender, sexual orientation, religion, age and race are ignored.

He said: ‘We should acknowledge that any form of workplace discrimination, to include accentism, should not be tolerated in a society which seeks to be more inclusive.

‘This is why “accentism” should be taken seriously as a problem which affects many of us.

‘Clearly, most people modify their accent not because they lack pride in it, quite the opposite in fact.

‘It’s actually because they fear the negative perceptions others might have of them if they don’t.’

Oh sure fuckin’ thing prof.
People just love connecting with call centers where the English right here here in the UK itself, is so damn thick that even other Brits hardly understand a word said.

Try communicating with some Irish and almost any Scottish call cntr.  Lots-a-luck.

There seems to be a drive on, and it’s been here for some time, to do away with the Queen’s English.
In an effort to be diverse and all inclusive, I have heard accents on the BBC I barely recognize as English. And there doesn’t appear to be any sort of voice coaching and if there is, it’s failing.  Tell someone to slow down cos you don’t understand, and they are offended.

So anyway ... I guess now there will be a brand new ‘ism’ you can be arrested and sued over.

Shooting At Nightclub After BET Awards

There was a shooting at a Hollywood nightclub—filled with famous rappers—hours after the BET Awards.

The incident occurred at around 2:30 AM PT Monday at Supper Club. Someone fired a shot outside the club. One eyewitness tells TMZ the shooter was aiming at the Game’s car ... although that does not appear to be the case. Another witness says the shot was fired in the air.

We’re told no one was hit.

A number of rappers were inside the club following the BET awards, including Game, Meek Mill, T-Pain, and Busta Rhymes.

NOLA: 9 injured in Bourbon Street Shooting

A Bourbon Street shooting early Sunday morning left nine people injured - two critically - in the latest incident of New Orleans gun violence penetrating even the city’s most iconic thoroughfare.

New Orleans police Superintendent Ronal Serpas said “two cowardly young men” were responsible for the carnage, which sent bystanders diving into bustling bars and nightclubs for cover, and others crawling into open storefronts as they bled.

Police confirmed some of the victims were tourists, wounded in the 700 block of Bourbon Street when two men got into a gunfight around 2:45 a.m. No arrests have been made.

At an afternoon news conference, the city’s police chief pledged, “We’re going to catch these two little ... uh, young men. And we’re going to hold them accountable and bring them to justice.”

Meanwhile, these 9 people shot in New Orleans ... ahem, pale in comparison ... to the 4 dead in 23 shootings this weekend in New York City or the 1 dead, 35+ shot in Chicago Weekend Shooting Spree.

People, people, people: control yourselves. Suppress your flashbulb violent reactions. Talk things out. Communicate. And if you have to, use your fists. Don’t reach for the guns. Grow up and be responsible.  Oh wait. Who am I talking to? Right. Never mind. Just make sure you keep that she-it in da hood, so the rest of us can ignore it. Less trouble for you, no trouble for us.

rural school critised because, all the pupils were of ‘white British heritage’.

I haven’t been as active here as I’d like to be.
Minor but persistent probs and all that.  There are times I don’t even want to be near a puter, just too damn tired and today is one such day.
However … from time to time I see something in the paper that is just so damn annoying, so bloody stupid, and so libtard politically correct, no matter what I feel like beside pissed off, I boot anyway and share the anger and the frustration.

Some years ago I shared a story with the same idea and bmews regulars have seen this more than once.  So this bit is for those surfing through, and those new to bmews who haven’t had the experience of the story. Yet.

I can’t recall the year it happened and have long ago lost the site, but know it was in the Daily Mail.  At the time, Labour was in occupation of number 10, and the left was busying itself with the final solution of the ruination of their own country. This one.

A national park faced closing and a number of park wardens were about to be made redundant.

Some bright light had decided that, “ there were too many white, middle aged, middle class ppl using the park.” As if minorities were being refused. But it’s the mindset of those lefty loons that get to me every time. 
So with that in mind ….. here’s why I’m here today.

If you happen to live in a rural environment and have kids, the chances are that almost anywhere in the more civilized western world, the majority if not all, will be white folks.  And there are those who see that as undesirable.  They won’t be happy until there just aren’t any white folks left anywhere.  The order of the new day will be forced integration and marriage to breed out the white gene.  A bit ott I suppose but some things just bother the hell outta me.  Like this story.

So the 68-pupil Church of England school is asking parents to pay for their children to make a two-day trip to a school with a wide mix of ethnic backgrounds.
The visit – described by one parent as patronising and bizarre – has been sold to parents as a way of boosting Payhembury’s Ofsted grade from good to the top rating of outstanding.

( So in order to be an “outstanding school”, some kind of phoney arrangement must be made in which the parents all have to pay cash. If the idea is so damn good, the gas bags at Ofsted should foot the entire bill. )

The school they are visiting, Smallberry Green in Isleworth, West London – where three-quarters of the 410 pupils are from ethnic minorities – achieved the same good Ofsted rating.
Explaining the motivation for the trip, Payhembury headteacher Penny Hammett told parents in a letter: ‘The purpose of this trip is to build up a relationship with a school in a very different community to ours.

‘This will enable our children to gain a better understanding of multicultural Britain, which was identified in our last Ofsted as being an area for development.
‘Through our topics, visitors and discussions, we have been developing multicultural awareness in both Britain and throughout the world, but this visit will help us to experience in real life a school where there is a wide mix of children with different ethnic backgrounds and almost 50 per cent of the children do not have English as their first language.’

The letter also explains that four teachers will accompany the children on the two-day trip, which will involve pupils sleeping in the Isleworth school and using its catering facilities, for an estimated cost of £35.

While in London, the Devon children will engage in outdoor activities and record a CD.
Pupils from the school have written to their new pen-pals in London, some of whom will take part in a return visit to the school, near Honiton.
Mrs Hammett’s letter invites parents to a meeting to discuss the trip. But yesterday one mother said: ‘I’m astounded by this idea. Just because the children go to a small school in the country does not mean they aren’t aware of people with different coloured skin to them.
‘It’s very patronising – and for the school they are visiting too.’

‘We are being asked to shell out £35 to try and boost their next Ofsted inspection. I think it’s a very cynical approach.’
However, another parent supported the initiative, saying: ‘I think it’s a nice idea.

(Uh huh.  Be interesting to see if their offspring one day comes home with an ape on arm and says meet my boyfriend. Wonder if the idea will be seen in the same light.)

‘We don’t live in an ethnically diverse area, so it’s good for the kids to meet children from other kinds of background.’
In Isleworth, student Usna Hakimi, 19, who was picking up her two sisters up from Smallberry Green, said: ‘They’ve just told me about the sleepover and they’re quite excited to meet other children from a different part of England. It’s good for them to learn about other cultures.’

Smallberry Green head Caroline Hodges said the trip was organised with Payhembury because it places emphasis on outdoor learning.
‘The children will not be doing any cultural activities when they are here,’ she said.

The Rev Cate Edmonds, chairman of the governors at Payhembury, said: ‘We are fairly mono-cultural as an area in Devon and we don’t want children growing up thinking the whole world is full of trees and cows. This gives them an experience of urban living.’
Mrs Hammett said the trip, in which 29 pupils are taking part, was about providing an enriching experience for the children at both schools.
‘Devon is very quaint but our children don’t get to see the big wide world,’ she said.

At Ofsted’s last visit in 2010, inspectors praised Payhembury as a ‘happy place’ but pointed out all the pupils were of ‘white British heritage’.

Their report recommended ‘improving links with communities in contrasting parts of the UK and abroad’.

Last night Ofsted said at that time inspectors were required to report on the contribution made by the school to community cohesion, a requirement removed in 2011.

Oh dear … So those poor white kids have no iPhones, no computers, no tablets, no TV and have never been to the nearest town with a movie theater.  How deprived they all must be.

another knife in the back of England and the military by idiot civilian judges

For some time now I have been certain that western countries, and especially the one I am in right now, weren’t really much interested in saving their culture and country.
Of course what I meant to say was that the rulers weren’t much interested. The recent elections across the EU show that unsurprisingly, a good many ppl do care, the ones who haven’t been given votes on things that alter their countries.  It’s all over the news and I suspect it will continue for some days.  After the recent elections in EU,
there has been a serious drift to the right.  Only now are the cowards in office suddenly making all kinds of promises, in efforts to save political lives and earnings.

Now then, when I say the west just will not go the extra mile to protect itself, here’s a fine example of that.

British soldiers may not hold their enemies in Afghanistan as prisoners for longer than 96 hours because to do so would breach their human rights, a judge ruled yesterday.

It means that Taliban chieftains captured by British troops must be freed to fight again within four days.
The judgment – which followed claims brought by four Taliban commanders now held in Afghan jails – alarmed military chiefs and politicians.
They believe soldiers should not be asked to fight and die on the battlefield according to the letter of human rights law.

The 117-page High Court ruling by Mr Justice Leggatt means that the European Convention on Human Rights, and the UK’s Human Rights Act, which made the convention part of British law, apply wherever British troops are fighting.

The judge said that by detaining Taliban leader Serdar Mohammed for 106 days beyond the legal 96-hour limit, Britain had breached his right to liberty.

Taxpayers will now have to pay compensation running into tens of thousands to Mohammed and three other captives involved in the case.

The ruling also opens the way for many other Afghan detainees to sue for compensation, with British law firms likely to be queuing up to help them.

Pretty damn sorry innit?

A Cambridge University graduate has defended her sex predator husband who told his victim he was raping her because ‘he didn’t get sex from his wife’.
Adriana Ford-Thompson, a York University research and teaching fellow, described her 37-year-old husband Mark Thompson - branded a danger to women by the judge - as ‘gentle, kind and sensitive’.

The environmentalist said the jury had ‘taken my husband away from me’ by finding him guilty, before he was given life in jail for the kidnap and rape of a student and sex attacks on three other women.

Mrs Ford-Thompson, who worked in Tanzania with her future husband in 2006 on a research project into sustainable forestry, sat through every day of his trial and vowed to stand by him despite hearing harrowing details of the ordeal suffered by a 21-year-old student at the university she works at.
The woman was walking home from her job in a club at 3.50am when he snatched her from the street and bundled her into his white van before raping her three times as he drove around the city.

Teesside Crown Court heard that at one point, martial arts expert Thompson - who is the son of a church pastor - told the undergraduate: ‘I don’t get sex from my wife, so I go to get it elsewhere.’

But despite the shocking details of self-confessed drug taker and adulterer Thompson’s crimes, Mrs Ford-Thompson mouthed ‘I love you’ and ‘stay strong’ to him. after a jury convicted him of nine sex offences including kidnap, rape and attempted rape, she said: ‘He is a sensitive, kind, soft, gentle man.’

He told the terrified young woman: ‘You have two options - you can give me what I want and you tell nobody what has happened, or tonight is the night you die.’

When an MP was asked to nominate a guest ale from his constituency to be served at a House of Commons bar, he was only too happy to help out.
But Jake Berry’s chosen tipple from an award-winning brewery in Ramsbottom, Lancashire, has fallen foul of the Commons PC brigade – because its label features black-faced Morris dancers.

The beer from the Irwell Works Brewery was intended to celebrate the Britannia Coconut Dancers from nearby Bacup, who have been performing since 1857 with blacked faces to celebrate the area’s mining heritage.

But officials said the image may cause offence, so the beer will be served in the Strangers Bar sporting the Bacup crest instead.
Parliamentary chiefs threw out the pale ale which had been specially crafted by a multi award-winning Rossendale brewery, saying the imagery ‘may have caused offence.’

MPs and local politicians slammed the decision, saying it ‘favours political correctness over common sense’.
The Coconutters have hit out, saying their traditional black make-up and colourful turbans, red and white kilts and clogs, are a celebration of Lancashire’s mining heritage.

It comes days after Will Straw, son of Blackburn MP Jack, was embroiled in a Twitter storm after posting a picture of himself with the morris dancing troupe.
Joe Healey, Coconutters secretary, called the decision ‘a real sad shame’.

He said: ‘I don’t understand the furore. Some people make caustic comments without understanding the tradition.

‘After recent comments made about us, I felt compelled to go back through our history, and there is no racial element whatsoever. There is no mention of race or ethnicity.
‘Researchers from Sheffield University have done the same, and come to the same conclusion.’

Irwell Works Brewery in Ramsbottom dropped the image of the Coconutters from the beer pump and replaced it with the Bacup crest, which will accompany the ale in the Strangers Bar.

Mr Berry said: ‘We thought of several names, but as the boundary dance was saved earlier this year, I thought it would be a fitting tribute to name the beer after the Britannia Coconutters, to celebrate their huge contribution to traditional dancing and their charity work across Rossendale.

The House of Commons authorities did not feel that this would comply with the strict rules they have regarding the naming of guest beers and requested us to choose one of our alternative suggestions.

‘I’m disappointed in the House of Commons Authorities decision. People who live in London obviously have no understanding about our Lancashire traditions.’
Sara D’arcy, managing director of Irwell Works Brewery, said: ‘After Jake suggested we do a beer featuring the Coconutters, I made it up and we sent it down with him.

‘He came back to us and said they thought the picture of them could offend people, so we changed it to the Bacup crest.’
A spokesman for the House of Commons said: ‘The ale offered was not acceptable as the imagery proposed to be used in connection with sales may have caused offence.’

Pump it back up the line

Portland OR: Punk takes a pee in the reservoir. City throws out 38 MILLION gallons of water.

The city of Portland, Ore., has been forced to dump millions of gallons of drinking water. Why? Because someone urinated into a water reservoir.

Surprising still, this isn’t the first time this has happened.

The latest incident took place about 1 a.m. Wednesday. Cameras captured three teens near the Mount Tabor Reservoir No. 5. One of them approached the iron fence and apparently got close enough to relieve himself directly into the reservoir.

The three teens were apprehended, and the 50-million-gallon reservoir was taken offline for testing.

Thanks to the teens, the Portland Water Bureau will have to dump 38 million gallons of drinking water, said administrator David Shaff.

“Our customers have an expectation that their water is not deliberately contaminated,” he said.

All three teens received citations for trespassing; one was cited for public urination.

Shaff told the Oregonian newspaper that the teen knew exactly what he was doing.

“It’s stupid,” Shaff told the newspaper. “You can see the sign that says: ‘This is your drinking water. Don’t spit, throw, toss anything in it.’ He’s four feet away from that sign.”

But ... how about some facts please?

0) [because Fact Zero isn’t really germaine to the story] 38 million gallons is a lake 1000 feet long, 200 feet wide, and 25 feet deep. It’s a nice big pond, or one helluva swimming pool. But it’s pretty tiny as actual lakes go.

1) The water in this holding pond is downstream from the treatment plant. Once it was pumped out of the local reservoir, it got chlorinated, fluoridated, filtered, and whatever other processing was necessary. Then the water was sent to this holding area, so that the extra chlorine or whatever could evaporate.

2) Portland is in violation of federal standards by having an exposed evaporation pond. Hey, the “pure” water in here is now exposed to airborne dust, dirt, bird crap, bugs, acid rain, leaves, otters, and whatever else can fall out of the sky or crawl under the fence. Bad bad, naughty Portland. Yes, it’s nearly their own fault this happened, what with putting a public jogging path around the pond. Guys, guys, in our post 9-11 world, there’s just no way you let the general public that close to everyone’s water. Close enough to have a pee is close enough to throw in some poison. Oh Hell no.

3) Yeah, the jerk took a whiz in the pond. Dilute a pint of urine with 50 million gallons of water ... which is 200 million quarts, which is 400 million pints. So the terrible pollution rate is 1 part per 400,000,001. Or 0.00000000249, or 0.0000000249%, or 2 1/2 parts per billion. Infinitesimal, but ewww, it’s pee-pee.

I don’t know where the evaporation pond is relative to the treatment facility. Probably not terribly far away; you’d want the same crew at the water plant overseeing everything. So, I’d suggest two things:
1) pump the water back into the treatment plant and clean it up again, or hook up a temporary filter on the output pipe until this batch of water has been sent out in the pipes. That should make everyone less squeamish.
2) Along with a ticket for public urination, these 3 owe the city or the water company the cost of fixing this.

But don’t ... ahem ... piss away a small lake full of nearly perfect water. Especially when you’ve got drought conditions in several places on the Left Coast, or near enough to it. Be green, but don’t be stupid.

I know this is not America, but still, the rules should still apply.  A person in another part of the world wants a better life, and seeks out a new home.  The contract should be that in exchange for allowing others to join in and become a citizen, that that person adopt his new home and abide by its rules, its culture, its laws, and its norms.  They accept the history of his or her new home, and pitch in to become one with that new home, and contribute to make that new home a better place, so it will continue to prosper.  (Very much as outlined by Teddy Roosevelt’s speech)

But instead, the newcomer gets ALL of the benefits he or she sought out, but wants to give NOTHING in return.  They do not want to participate in the way that is acceptable by that host’s standards.  They want all the rules changed to suit them, they want the culture that offends them halted, and they want any history that offends them wiped away.  These new people want all the benefits, but want to give nothing in return.  As if somehow, their mere presence in the new country is all they owe.  BS!!!.  I say, no country no longer allow ANYONE to benefit or come to their country unless that person agrees to abide by certain standards and rules, and become a full participating member and ultimately, a citizen if possible.  Otherwise, what the hell is in it for the host country, beside of course, expense, and hassle?  And make that person agree to do these things, and if they fail, they go back.  No court rulings...nothing.  It’s all in the contract.  Like a full payment due on demand clause if a person fails to pay their mortgage.  That person is scooped up, and shipped back to whatever dunghill they came from.  If they liked the rules there so much, instead of trying to change their new home, they should simply stay put. 
Do this a few times, and I bet the caliber of immigrant and those seeking benefits from other countries will improve greatly.
We need to nip this crap in the bud now, or will be destroyed by this nonsense.

Above was posted in comments here at bmews.  At the time I read it, I had just seen the story I am posting below and thought, how fitting.
In another post, Sdkar made ref. to America, which could easily apply to the UK if anyone was serious about saving this country.  All of what he wrote makes sense to many of us, but the many of us are not the ones making the decisions and enforcing political correctness.
In the case here, there have been arrests.  Will the vermin who did this be deported?  Not if he has wife and family here because you see, one of his many human rights, is the right to a family life.  Is that English law? Don’t think so but not sure. I am sure however, that it is a ruling handed down by the ECOHR, which is, The European Court of Human Rights.  I don’t believe the men involved in this story are at all human. But hey ... that’s me.

The kind of life forms that believe in this sort of thing, truly believe they are doing good, and just would never be able to understand anyone who believed otherwise. They live in another time and place and yet .... it’s the west that MUST be ‘understanding’ and compassionate.  We are not allowed to voice disgust out loud to these people, except in polite and civil ways and then it’s in the press.  But if you come face to face with one of these dark age brainless twits and tell em what you think, you’re islamophobic and a racist and a number of other things that aren’t compliments. And ... you could also end up in court if you should “hurt their feelings”.

The first charges in British history over female genital mutilation have been brought against two men - one of whom is a doctor.
Dr Dhanoun Dharmasena from the Whittington Hospital in north London, and Hasan Mohamed, who is not a medic, will face charges under the Female Genital Mutilation Act.
It is claimed the doctor carried out the procedure on a woman who had given birth in November 2012, and that Mohamed encouraged and helped him, prosecutors said.

Today prosecutors said they had also looked at four other cases - one of which was new and three that were reconsidered after decisions to take no further action - and found there was insufficient evidence to bring charges.
One of the old cases involved a man calling an FGM helpline, intended for victims, to ask for the procedure to be carried out on his two daughters.
The new case involved two parents accused of taking their daughter abroad to have FGM.
The CPS would not give details of the other two cases.
The pair who have been charged will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on April 15.
Those found guilty under the Act can face a maximum of 14 years in jail.
It is notoriously difficult to bring charges under FGM laws because victims are afraid to give evidence.
‘It is a very difficult injury to talk about,’ she said. ‘It is an abuse of their body and it is not a part of the body that people want to talk about in public.’

CUTTING’ IS A CULTURAL TRADITION

The tradition originated in ethnic groups spread throughout 28 African countries, including Egypt, Ethiopia, Somalia and Sudan, and spread across the world as groups emigrated.
The circumcision or ‘cutting’ is carried out for cultural reasons, often because it shows a girl’s virginity on her wedding night.
FGM is defined as any partial or full removal of a woman’s outer sexual organs. It can also involve sewing up the vagina.
In cultures where the tradition is common, ‘uncut’ girls can be thought more likely to be promiscuous, unhygienic, and prone to diseases such as HIV/Aids.
The procedure is traditionally carried out by an older woman with no medical training and without any anaesthetic or antiseptics, risking infection.
Their basic tools include knives, scissors, scalpels, pieces of glass or razor blades. Iodine or a mixture of herbs is placed on the wound to tighten the vagina and stop the bleeding.
Prosecutors in today’s case have not specified what type of procedure is alleged to have been carried out.
It is thought as many as 66,000 women in the UK have suffered FGM with 24,000 girls under 11 also at risk.

Just another example of the pandering to groups, of accommodating, of backing down.

In this case, all it took was just one foreign born young student by the name of Mamusu.  Here’s a person who hasn’t a clue.
Racist?  The movie is racist and so cancel the original planned theme for the ball.

GWTW was never my favorite movie but hell, I recognise how well it was done, and never thought of Negroes, the correct term in use back then, in a negative light based on the movie.  I had other problems.  I hated seeing the depiction of Atlanta being burned by those (censored).

It was a movie of romance, which for me all those many years ago was a bit of a bore.
But I don’t recall slavery being romanticised, and slavery wasn’t the main focus of the movie. But try and explain that to the politically correct ppl with names like Mamusu and Yasmin Lawal.  And btw, that movie produced the first Oscar given to a black actress. It was a reflection of the times.  Anyway, if students don’t approve of the theme, why not simply avoid it?  Oh no. Can’t do that. Better to censor those who wouldn’t be ‘offended’ and easier too. 

I had lots to say but .... best I don’t.  Had I a cooler head ...  yeah well, thing is I don’t. 

Cambridge University college forced to drop ‘racist’ May Ball theme

A Cambridge University college has abandoned plans to hold a Gone with the Wind-inspired ball after complaints that the film is racist.

Officials at St Edmund’s College have admitted that the organising committee was forced to change the theme after concerns were raised about the Oscar-winning film.
Starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh, the 1939 film is famous for the romance between Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara but it has also been widely criticised for its depiction of black people.

There is a high percentage of foreign students at the 19th-century college, with around two-thirds of the students coming from 60 countries.
Mamusu Kallon, who was born in Sierra Leone and is a student at St Edmund’s, said she was dismayed by the choice of theme for the ball.

“It is a film that glamorises the romantic dreams of a slave owner and a KKK member while rendering the horrors of slavery invisible,” she said.
“The black characters fulfil every derogatory racist stereotype of the ‘slave’ and black people continue to be subject to the modern-day versions of these stereotypes. Surely Cambridge University should not be perpetuating this?”

Last month, students at the college, which counts the Duke of Edinburgh as an honorary fellow, agreed to change the theme of the May Ball. A college spokesman said: “The committee initially selected the theme of Gone with the Wind, but then changed it to ‘Journey through the Seasons’ after concern was expressed by some of our students.

“The college felt that it would have only been necessary for it to intervene formally if the matter had not been resolved satisfactorily. The college supports the change of theme and is proud of its record of friendliness and cordiality.”

The row comes only a week after members of Cambridge’s Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) committee launched a campaign asking students to speak out about instances of discrimination. Yasmin Lawal, the president of the BME committee, stressed that the aim of the campaign was to raise awareness of the issues facing ethnic-minority students in Cambridge.

Ms Kallon, a third-year human, social and political science student, said that there were issues to be addressed.

“I think there is a serious gap between policy and practice, and a refusal to understand that racism is not just the N-word or explicit in nature.”

After the name change, organisers of the ball, for which tickets cost as much as £129, promised partygoers that they would “experience all four seasons in one memorable night”.
“Our college grounds will evoke fruitful autumn gardens, long midwinter nights, the early hours of spring and the fierce passion of midsummer,” they said.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot.
