Depression: Whip It .. Whip It Good

Russian scientists have completed a new study on depression and released their results. It seems that a better alternative to Prozac and Paxil is .... a good old fashioned butt-whippin’.

Siberian scientists believe that addiction to alcohol and narcotics, as well as depression, suicidal thoughts and psychosomatic diseases occur when an individual loses his or her interest in life. The absence of the will to live is caused with decreasing production of endorphins - the substance, which is known as the hormone of happiness. If a depressed individual receives a physical punishment, whipping that is, it will stir up endorphin receptors, activate the “production of happiness” and eventually remove depressive feelings.

Russian scientists recommend the following course of the whipping therapy: 30 sessions of 60 whips on the buttocks in every procedure. A group of drug addicts volunteered to test the new method of treatment: the results can be described as good and excellent.

Hmmmm .. methinks Stanley, OCM, Oink, Barb and a few other depressed members around here could use a little therapy. All right, gang! Bend over and grab your ankles. I promise this will hurt me more than it will you but it is for the greater good, OK?

Crack that whip
Give the past the slip
Step on a crack
Break your momma’s back
When a problem comes along
You must whip it
Before the cream sits out too long
You must whip it
When something’s going wrong
You must whip it

Now whip it
Into shape
Shape it up
Get straight
Go forward
Move ahead
Try to detect it
It’s not too late
To whip it
Whip it good

Yes, it seems Devo was decades ahead of their time, eh?

SkyNet: Phase I Complete

The entity known as SkyNet, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cyberdyne Systems, today announced it has completed transfer of technology that allows machines to replicate themselves and create repair parts remotely by simply “printing out” replacement circuit boards and components as needed.

Also, according to Skynet, “humans are no longer considered necessary.”

Science and Energy News

A few days ago I finished reading a book called Fire Ice by Clive Cussler which was based on a premise of using methane hydrates, called “fire ice” to wreak death and destruction on the US.

Prior to reading the book I knew nothing of this “science.”

But...........lo and behold! Here we have a study which shows we have more energy in the sea stored as methane hydrates than all our oil reserves---something like 200,000 trillion CF.

The stuff, if released in an indiscriminate manner is highly volatile and upon release generate methane gas which is a serious global warmer.

This is a great read.  And so is the book.

And following on its heels, we have another study whose premise states that even if we stopped generating ALL greenhouse gasses, the fact that oceans work at their own slow pace means THEY’D be contributing to global warming for the next 100 years on their own.

It could all be due to your genes.

Yep!  Really!

However, based on previous comments I’d say it loks like some of our readership has BAD genes!  Hehehe

Hubble Bubble

This is the Helix Nebula, also called the “Eye Of God” nebula. Picture taken from the Hubble Space Telescope .... which will be dying soon thanks to funding cuts. What a shame .... we will no longer be able to look God in the eye.

Feb. 7, 2005 — The White House has released its 2006 (FY06) budget request. The request does not include any funding for a Hubble servicing mission. Next up, the House Science Committee will discuss NASA’s budget on Feb. 17. The White House’s budget request is posted at the Office of Management and Budget web site. NASA’s budget is posted here.

The portrait offers a dizzying look down what is actually a trillion-mile-long tunnel of glowing gases. The fluorescing tube is pointed nearly directly at Earth, so it looks more like a bubble than a cylinder. A forest of thousands of comet-like filaments, embedded along the inner rim of the nebula, points back toward the central star, which is a small, super-hot white dwarf.

Still think all this is an accident?

In The News:  Morons, Weirdos, Great Stuff

bat We need go no further to discover why so many kids are so fucked up and incapable of dealing with the harsh realities of life.

Kid has summer school.  Three assignments are part of the requirement for this HONORS class.  Kid’s father SUES the school because it’s not fair to assign homework during vacation!!!

Judge over rules and whacks the father for basically being stupid.

What the judge should have done was sterilize the father and son and hope no further pro-creation took place.

bat What do you bet this kid’s parents will stand up for him?  And how the hell did they know it was him?  He sent them anonymously. Cum and get ‘em!!!!  Frozen treats!!!

bat Star Trek and tank protection.  Israel demonstrated

an invisible “shield” that surrounds an armored vehicle protecting it from anti-tank missiles and neutralizing them before they reach their target.

Fact or science fiction?

FACT. Those wiley Jews are at it again!

bat Hey, this guy has a sick sense of humor AS WELL AS a sick perversion.  Check out the name of the road where he was caught.  And check out the name of the road he lives on.  He’s “BENT” alright!

bat Fascinating.  Simply fascinating.  A treasure trove of bronze-age cargo was found off Devon, in England.  Considering the trade that went on it would be extraordinarily interesting to have a re-enactment video or a book describing how life was 3500 years ago in a trading community.  I’ll bet everyone smelled really badly, conditions were horrid, food sucked and the rich lived almost as badly as the poor except they had more food and more furs.  But they still stank!

bat For our Kiwi pals....isn’t this close to where you are?  Must have been a small boat.  Too bad fishermen aren’t armed.  They’d have a nice trophy to hang off the bowsprit.

In Memoriam

Our flags should be at half mast today.

Hans Bethe, one of the original designers of the atomic bomb died Sunday.

Thanks to his vision and intelligence we defeated the Nips and using the strength of nuclear arms as a deterrent, caused the evil empire to fall.

But that’s not all.  He also discovered:

how atoms are built up from smaller particles, about what makes dying stars blow up as supernovas, and how the heavier elements are produced from the ashes of these supernovas.

A 21 gun salute to that gentleman!

Dire Predictions

I just had an interesting thought. Suppose the Mad Mullahs in Iran have a much more devious plan than building nukes with their newly acquired nuclear technology? What if their intention is get rich first, bring America to its knees economically and then develop nuclear weapons later?

Currently, oil production in Iran is at about 3.8 million barrels per day. However, Iran also uses about 1.2 million barrels per day internally to generate electricity and supply oil-related products to its own people. Hmmmmmm ....

With world oil prices reaching record highs ($53 per barrel), it would make sense to sell more oil overseas than to use it at home, right? How to do that? Answer, build 20 nuclear power plants to supply the country’s electrical needs and sell all of that $53 (and maybe higher) per barrel oil to the stupid Americans who are not building any more nuclear power plants and shutting down the ones they have while refusing to open up oil drilling in Alaska.

I smell a devious Mad Mullah plan at work here .... and the US is falling into their trap. In just a few years, they could be selling nearly 100% of their oil at highly inflated prices to the US, which will be held hostage by its dependence on foreign oil and lack of nuclear power plants to make up the difference. Currently, nuclear power plants in the US account for only 20% of electricity generated and that is dropping rapidly with plant closings. Add to that the removal of old, outdated hydroelectric dams and the refusal of environmentalists to accept drilling for oil in Alaska and their further refusal to allow more nuclear power plants to be built and what do you get????

Within twenty years the lights may go out all across America. Whale oil lamps will no longer be an option thanks to GreenPeace. Darkness falls ....

Tell me what you think .... possible or not?

Software is getting incredible more efficient at pinpointing those who violate the “no surfing” rule at work.  And companies are relying much more on them.

World Record Flight Completed!

He made it! Around the world, non-stop, without landing in 67 hours ....

After 67 hours’ flying and just 20 minutes’ sleep, Steve Fossett, the American millionaire, secured his place in aviation history tonight by becoming the first person to circumnavigate the globe solo without stopping or refuelling.

As a crowd of 8,000 people cheered him on, his Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer touched down at Salina, Kansas, after 1.48pm local time (7.48pm GMT) after travelling 23,000 miles around the world.

For three days the 60-year-old adventurer and former financier braved extreme fatigue and technical failure, including an apparent loss of fuel, on a diet of chocolate milkshakes and water.

He also completed two other records: the fastest time to fly around the world and the longest distance flown without landing.

Will Fossett Make It?

Get live updates on this amazing around the world flight here. Currently, Fossett is halfway between Japan and Hawaii, after starting his trip in California a few days ago (he is flying West to East and has already covered two-thirds of the globe). Here is the most current update ....

After 42 hours of flight, following the loss of 2,600 lbs of fuel in the early stages of the flight, Steve Fossett has decided to cross the Pacific Ocean at least as far a Hawaii.

Despite the earlier loss of fuel that means Steve may possibly not make it back to Salina, he will aim to get as far a Hawaii where he will re-assess the situation. Steve and Mission Control are taking one step at a time.

Steve is nearly in daylight and will to continue have 100 knot tailwinds assisting his flight until Hawaii. After this point, however, the winds are expected to be only around 40 knots, which could cause problems as Steve needs at least 58 knots to make his fuel last all the way in.

Mission Control have also advised Steve to slow his flight speed down to increase overall efficiency, and to conserve fuel.

Steve’s view was that he was still “very hopeful” of making it back to Salina.

The pumping of fuel between tanks will continue. The wing tip tanks have been drained and the pumping of fuel from the mid-wing tanks is nearly complete.

Sir Richard Branson said of the situation: “I think it’s too soon to be confident that he’ll make it all the way around the world… I think by the time he reaches Hawaii we’ll have a pretty good idea of whether he’ll make it.”

Will He Make It?

  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
