IT’S RAP AND ROLL TIME FOR THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND … Yawn. Moonbats think this will save em.

Several days ago I was gonna post something in the nature of one of life’s annoyances. Nothing too serious really but bothersome. It was so minor I have forgotten now what it was.
But along came Drew and blew my little nothing out of the water with the story of his travails over the major move he and his wife were faced with.  So I didn’t share whatever the now non momentous event was.

Yesterday we had a flat tire.  Woo-hoo. big event.
Meanwhile we learn that Drew is busy with a hundred window house to take care of. So okay ... never mind about the flat tire. But I would have liked to learn a bit more about Mrs. Rich Lady and her fab. bottom. Ah well.  Drew’s secret. Phots Drew, Photos!

Anyway, how’s this for disaster ?
The Church of England in its infinate wisdom is making plans to hold services in RAP, in an effort to attract that group back to the fold.  Say what? That group was NEVER in to begin with.

This may be an interesting experiment for sure.  The rocket scientists in the church will in time issue a statement informing all and sundry how successful their little effort had been yadda, yadda.
They’ll issue that statement because they won’t have the balls to openly say they had it wrong from the start and that many have dropped out of attending services where Rap is the hymnal medium. That’s just me talking and yes, I could have it all wrong.  Don’t think so, but could.
Stay Tuned on this one.

MEANWHILE .....

Listen up, rappin’ crew, come on in and take a pew… church tries to appeal to the young
By Steve Doughty
Last updated at 7:46 AM on 15th September 2009

In the beginning, the elders gathered and set up a mighty cry: How are we to get young people into church? And, lo, they decreed: Let there be rap.
In a move which risks ridicule, the Church of England has turned to street culture in the hope of attracting new blood.
A radio advert will appeal to the lapsed faithful to ‘stop, turn around, walk back’ to church on Sunday.
The spoken message, voiced by a series of actors, is described by the Church as ‘a rap-style poem’.
The ad is the latest in a 15-year campaign by the C of E to use advertising to boost church attendances and attract the attention of those, in particular the young, who have no interest in Christianity.
Past efforts have met with mixed success. One mid-1990s slogan that declared Christmas to be a ‘bad hair day’ won universal mockery.
The C of E’s usual Sunday attendance figures dropped below the one million figure at the turn of the millennium and have fallen at the most recent count to 871,000.
The new advert, produced by a Christian agency based in Bradford, aims to assure its young target audience that they do not need to dress up to go to church.
In defiance of the idea of Sunday best, the 40-second routine, which is not set to a drum beat, suggests that congregations where people make an effort to look smart could lack sincerity.
The grammar also does little credit to the C of E’s efforts in the thousands of secondary and primary schools it helps run.

RAPPIN’ CREW?

My wild off the wall guess is that the C of E is desperate and this lasted bit of moonbat thinking will only accomplish what their detractors have been saying out loud for a long time.  Which is ... they haven’t got a clue and are pointless.

Police allowed to take Hallowe’en and summer solstice off work. This doesn’t surprise you, does it ?

Welcome to modern England where political correctness is so pure, so invasive, so dictatorial, SO FULL OF SHIT, that every little group everywhere no matter what has .... RIGHTS!  Where everybody is recognized as something and has a claim on the system.

I guess it would be a bad place if nobody had any rights at all.  But come on.  Some things are really just made up stuff on the spur and you know they are.
Simply say you belong to some group or other and you automatically have the right to make claims on behalf of said made up cartoon with the force of law behind you.  Except for known unpopular things like, being anti diversity, anti multi culture etc. Oh yeah, and now btw parents may “lose the right to boycot school sex lessons.” Now I’m not a parent and so can’t really take a side as one and speak like one.  But even so it seems to me that parents should be able to decide at what age their children should be formally taught that subject.  And I do realize that for some parents there would never be a time.  How did the world make it this far btw?  Well I’m gonna avoid that subject because it isn’t where I started.

I caught this rather bizarre article and ....... and ....  ??  Here. See if it seems reasonable and logical to you. In todays world, I guess it’s simply par for the course.

So then, how about law abiding Neo Nazis who are breaking no laws, not encouraging violence or abusing police, what if a group of them want to celebrate publicly, April 20th.  What then?  AND ... they want April 20 as a day off.  What then?
Don’t accuse me of being silly on that because frankly this world is soooooo far gone now that I can actually see a civil rights lawyer arguing the case for them.

Right. Now I’ve said that I really should be honest and expose all cause to do less would be mis-leading on my part.
Truth about me is ....  I’m a dinosaur.  I was brought up in a very different time, have a hard time with change and in fact don’t much like change except where computers are concerned.  I have a hard time understanding new fangled religions and things like ebonics and kwanza and view this in the same light.  I might be very mistaken and wrong to do so.  But, well. Sorry.  It all seems like fakery to me.  ??
Which wouldn’t be at all fair to those who quite honestly believe what they say they do. How can I judge?  I guess I do because it human nature.

OK ... I hear thunder. LOUD!  I usually unplug when that happens. Will wait another minute or two.
Cheers

Pagan police officers in Britain have been given the right to take eight days off work a year to celebrate “religious holidays” including Hallowe’en and the summer solstice.

By Nick Allen
Published: 12:30PM BST 16 Jul 2009

It follows the setting up of a Pagan Police Association to represent officers who worship nature and believe in many gods.

Pc Andy Pardy, a leading Pagan officer from Hertfordshire Police, met with Home Office officials this week to push for more recognition for pagan officers.

The neighbourhood beat manager, who has been an officer for the past seven years, is a heathen which means he worships Norse gods, including the hammer-wielding Thor, the one-eyed Odin and Freyr, the god of fertility.

Pc Pardy told Police Review magazine: “Paganism is not the new age, tree hugging fad that some people think it is. It is not the clandestine, horrible, evil thing that people think it is. A lot of people think it is about dancing naked around a fire but the rituals are not like that.

“It involves chanting, music, meditation, reading passages and for pagans the practices are seen to have the same power as prayer does for Christians. Most pagans practice some kind of conservation work as well to give something back to the planet.”

Hertfordshire Police allows Pc Pardy the eight pagan holidays off each year, including Hallowe’en, which signifies the Pagan new year, and the summer solstice in June.

The days are deducted from his annual leave but because of his religion the days off are set in stone.

Superintendent Simon Hawkins, of Hertfordshire Police, said: “While balancing operational needs, the force’s religion and beliefs policy gives all staff the choice of re-allocating the traditional Christian bank-holiday festivals to suit their personal faith.

“This has been very well received from a number of faith groups, including Muslim and Jewish.”

A spokesman for the Home Office confirmed the meeting with Pc Pardy.

He added: “The Government wants a police service that reflects the diverse communities it serves.

“It is down to individual forces to make reasonable adjustments to accommodate the religion or beliefs of individual officers, as far as operational requirements permit.”

There were 30,500 pagans in England and Wales in 2001, according to the Office of National Statistics.

Last year the Home Office introduced the pagan oath for use in the courts.

It is not known how many Pagan police officers and staff there are in the UK.

Another officer, Pc Andy Hill of Staffordshire Police, is a practising Wiccan, a pagan witch. He has founded Pagan Police Group UK, a website for pagan police officers and their families.

He said: “Wiccan has always been a bit of a taboo religion, there are lots of misconceptions around it. This is nothing to do with black magic or devil worshipping. It is working with nature for good.”

Oh just bloody great. Now we hear from a couple of religious Jews who claim violated rights.

This really does piss me off major big time. Bothers me on a couple of levels.

Just what Jews need today. Or any other freekin day.  Not bad enough we have so damn many libtard movements headed by Jews.  Not bad enough that so many of these damnable human and civil rights lawyers are ... wanna guess?  No. Now we need to hear from a nut job loony tune butt ugly Jew who wants to sue because ... aw hell.  Here.  Read this crap for yourself and tell me if this isn’t a case of some stupid assed, big mouthed self seeking, trouble maker.

Thing of is as well, I just know with absolute certainty that this just fuels more anti-semitic feelings or at the least, causes some who aren’t to stop and think.
They’ll be thinking oh well. What can you expect? They’re Jews. That’s what those folks do.  I’ve heard that all my life so I know it to be true.

Their claim is soooooo phony.  If their faith is so strong to begin with, and I seriously doubt that, they should know that even in orthodox Jewry their god forgives things which a religious Jew has no control over.  I can’t even assign a moonbat to this because generally speaking there’s a bit of humor even in Moonbat stupid things. But not here, not now. Not this article.  This ugly bitch is bad news and an embarrassment not just to Jews who’d never follow this path. She’s an embarrassment to the human race as well.  And being ugly makes it worse.
Damn it I HATE people like this!  I’m not too articulate when I’m this frustrated> RCOB!

Jewish couple sue neighbours for ‘imprisoning’ them with automatic hallway light

By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 12:37 PM on 16th June 2009

A Jewish couple are suing their neighbours in a block of flats, saying an automatic security light is keeping them prisoner in their home because it forces them to break their Sabbath rules.

Dr Dena Coleman and husband Gordon claim they cannot leave their holiday flat on the Sabbath because when they do they automatically trigger the light in the communal hallway - contravening a religious ban on turning on electrical items from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday because it constitutes ‘creating fire’.

They say their human rights are being breached and are now suing the flats’ management company - their neighbours - for failing to accommodate their religion.

The other 35 owners of the seaside flats are liable to pay court costs if the claim is successful.

Dr Coleman, a 56-year-old headteacher at a Jewish orthodox school in London, has been visiting the £200,000 holiday flat in Bournemouth, Dorset, with her husband for six years.

The management company fitted the motion-sensing lights six months ago in a bid to save energy and money.

The Colemans have offered to pay for an override switch to disable the light sensors during the Sabbath.

But the Embassy Court Management Company - which represents all residents and whose three directors also live in the block - said this would set an ‘unacceptable precedent’.

In a letter sent to occupants of all of the other 35 apartments in the block, the Colemans said: ‘Faced with a situation where we could never again have full use of our flat, we were left with no alternative but to seek legal advice.

‘We consulted solicitors and a caseworker at the Equality and Human Rights Commission and were advised that we had a strong claim.’

The couple said they would drop the case if an override switch was installed and the management company paid their legal costs and compensation.

The argument has sparked controversy between the other residents.

One resident, who did not want to be named, said: ‘It has caused quite a stir here, there have been a lot of arguments.

‘There has been a meeting about it and many of the residents aren’t happy.

‘There’s a feeling that things shouldn’t be changed just to suit people in one flat when everyone else is happy with it.

‘I don’t think the rest of us would think twice about the lights but they’re going to great lengths to get it changed so they must feel very strongly about it.’

The couple say they only moved into the flat in spring 2003 on the understanding that movement sensors would never be installed in communal areas.

They have now issued a county court writ against the management company, saying they have discriminated against them on the grounds of religion.

The claim also accuses the company of breaching their rights under the Equality Act 2006 and Human Rights Act 1998.

In a statement the company said: ‘The directors believe that almost all lessees at Embassy Court support the actions taken by the management company to reduce communal lighting electricity costs, and to reduce repair and maintenance costs by preventing heat damage to light fittings and prolonging their life.

‘The directors further believe that almost all lessees support the installation of movement sensor controls in the hallways and have no personal problems with their installations.

‘Unfortunately correspondence between directors and lessees concerned failed to resolve the dispute.

‘Clearly the lessees [the Colemans] felt so strongly that their rights may have been infringed by the management company that they decided to take legal action. That is their prerogative.

‘A key allegation in this claim is that the movement sensors installed in the hallway discriminate against the claimants, who are orthodox Jews, on the grounds of their religion and belief.

‘The lessees also allege in the claim that when they purchased their flat in the spring of 2003 it was on the basis of assurances from selling agents that that movement sensors would not be installed at Embassy Court.

‘Although other lessees are innocent parties in this legal dispute, in accordance with the lease, the Management Company’s expenses reasonably incurred in these legal proceedings with be recoverable from all lessees in the service charge, to the extent that these expenses are not paid by the other parties to the proceedings.’

The case is due to be heard at Bournemouth County Couty later this year.

Dr Coleman is the headteacher at Yavneh College in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, the author of several books on education.

National Day of Prayer, eh? Funny, it’s not marked on any of my calendars. And I didn’t hear a word about it on the news. Or did I? Something about Oheathen not attending some Catholic Breakfast? You don’t think TPTB could be trying to bury such a day, do you?

Charity worker suspended for Christian beliefs on homosexuality.

Story is a week old by now but it sort of dovetails on a subject Drew brought up yesterday.
Seems like there’s only ONE opinion sought or paid heed to, and that’s the left and the homosexuals.  I am aware that not all of them are left. Apparently there are a number who regard themselves as conservative republicans. ???  I don’t quite understand that connection.
Anyway ... people either lose beauty pageants or jobs without the required one way opinion.

Charity worker suspended for Christian beliefs on homosexuality

by:
Ruth Gledhill

A charity worker has been suspended after telling a colleague about his Christian beliefs against homosexuality, even though he says he is not homophobic and was merely responding to questions from a colleague about his beliefs.

David Booker, 44, who works at a Christian hostel in Southampton, a charity, was asked about his faith by a colleague, Fiona Vardy during a late shift last month.

He told her he was opposed to same-sex marriages and to homosexual clergy but denied being homophobic and said that he had homosexual friends.

The next evening, Mr Booker was suspended from his £19,000-a-year post as a hostel support worker with Society of St James, where he has been employed for the last four years. The hostel told him the action was taken for “events that happened last night”.

A few days later he was told he had “seriously breached” the charity’s code of conduct “by promoting your religious views which contained discriminatory comments regarding a person’s sexual orientation”. The action had been taken “to safeguard both residents and staff”, he was advised.

Mr Booker, an evangelical from Southampton, who is being advised by the Christian Legal Centre, now faces an enquiry and a disciplinary hearing.

It comes just weeks after a Christian nurse suspended for offering to pray for the recovery of a patient was reinstated. North Somerset NHS Trust suspended nurse Caroline Petrie for failing to show a commitment to equality and diversity after she offered to pray for the recovery of an elderly patient. The patient did not complain.

Andrea Minichiello Williams, barrister and director of the Christian Legal Centre, said: “This case shows that in today’s politically correct, increasingly secularised society, even consenting reasonable discussion on religion between two employees is being twisted by employers to discriminate and silence the Christian voice and freedom of expression.”

THE TIMES

Do any of you reading this get the feeling as I did, that the guy was set up?  I’m thinking that the person who engaged him in this conversation and already knew his views, knew what answer she’d get and so then shopped him. Just a theory.

UN: Speak No Ill Of Islam .

UN: Speak No Ill Of Islam … Or Else

Canada Free Press 03 April 2009
By Bob Parks

These are truly amazing times we live in. We have our own government seizing businesses and dictating how much people should get paid, if the government doesn’t fire them. We have our own government giving the word “spending” a catastrophic new meaning. We have our own government acting like fascist thugs, squelching opposition on the floor of the House and Senate, and now we have the United Nations dictating what free speech will be from now on.

In a crushing blow to the freedom of speech worldwide, the United Nations Human Rights Council last Thursday approved a resolution calling upon member states to provide legal “protection against acts of hatred, discrimination, intimidation and coercion resulting from defamation of religions and incitement to religious hatred in general.”

In other words….

While the resolution speaks of religion in general, the proposal came from Pakistan and had the backing of the powerful 57-government Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the UN’s largest voting bloc – so it was clear that Islam was the only religion the drafters of the resolution had in mind. This is underscored by the fact that Muslim states have worked energetically to make “Islamophobia” the focus of Durban II — the UN’s upcoming second World Conference on Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance. A draft declaration declares that “defamation of Islam” should be a criminal offense, even when it takes place under the “pretext” of “freedom of expression, counter terrorism or national security.”

In other words, if the OIC and the drafters of the Durban declaration get their way, any honest examination of how jihadists use Islamic texts and teachings to make recruits will be illegal. So not only does this herald the death of free speech, but it also leaves us mute and defenseless before the advancing global jihad.

The ramifications here in America are unclear, but if I were to write something that was critical of murderous thugs who may have just blown up a market, killing dozens of people (and were Muslims), would I be contacted by the United Nations and charged with a crime?

Would the United States, blowing off our First Amendment, attempt to enforce this new rule?

Very interesting times indeed.

Revealed: The horrific moment the Taliban flog girl, 17, in chilling ‘punishment’ regime.

What FILTHY MISERABLE SCUM!
And this is exactly what these sub-humans want for us in the west people.
KNOW YOUR ENEMY !

There are a couple more pix but grainy.

This is the chilling moment a 17-year-old Pakistani girl is punished in a horrific flogging by Taliban militants for being seen with a man who is not her husband.

The girl, who received 37 lashes at the hands of her brother and Taliban forces, has sent shockwaves throughout the once stable Swat Valley region.

The mobile phone footage shows the girl pinned down by two men while a third whips her as she begs for mercy.

‘Please stop it,’ the girl begs as the men, one of whom is believed to be her brother, continue their sickening act.

image

But some claim the commander ordered the flogging to get revenge after the girl refused to accept a marriage proposal.

Pashtun documentary maker Samar Minallah, who lived in Swat for two years in the late 1990s, handed the footage to the media.

The footage has sparked alarm across Pakistan and the west, which fears the Taliban is seeking to extend its influence across the region.

The girl in the video, named as Chaand, was punished in Matta in the Swat Valley.

She did not receive a trial and was punished according to the suspicious of one neighbour.

Ms Minallah said the incident had taken place within the last 10 days, following the signing of a peace deal between the provincial government and militants which saw them gain control of the valley’s judicial system.

She said the video is being circulated because the Taliban wanted people to see it.

‘They want to give the message that this is taking place after the peace deal because this is something they ideologically believe in,’ she said.

Journalists and human rights workers have confirmed the video was recent, but could not say exactly when it was taken.

Human rights officials also claim that the Taliban have committed many atrocities since the peace deal was signed with officials settling disputes ‘according to their whims.’

Mingora, the largest city in Swat district, has been under a mixture of traditional and Islamic law since the peace deal was signed on February 15.

Although the Taliban do not control the courts, they continue to carry out punishments in some regional areas.

The punishment is not the first to be dished out since the peace deal was signed with some sources claiming women have been whipped for harmless activities such as shopping.

Great, just great.  Another bunch of lunatic religious fanatics want to tell ppl how to live.

Sure, I can understand folks in another land who worry about undo foreign influence. I understand a feeling of maybe being swamped by foreign customs, not all of which are to be admired.  Things is, these particular people haven’t before been a big problem and are also not the majority.
But I guess the muslims have been good teachers cause now this Hindu sect wants to be heard and OBEYED!
And they won’t play with kid gloves or rules that we’d recognize as civil.  They have their own rules which can be simply stated as, their way and no other.

Isn’t it interesting that although there is some support from a women’s group, mostly these lunatic religious idiots are men and the people they most NEED to control are ?

Who else?

Women of course.

Because it’s easier to bully women then it is men for one thing.

These Hindu Taliban say, “Westerners in their countries lead a valueless life.” “ It’s for their betterment to desist.”

They say westerners are a threat to their culture. Ummm. What culture would that be by chance?  Not the one that has temples dedicated to rats and where fresh milk and grain is brought there to feed the vermin.  That culture?  The culture of the caste system which sadly still exists there?
And even in more liberal circles, the male domination of the other half of the population?

I’ve no doubt that it can be more then a little upsetting if you’re a native and have to endure a bunch of stumbling drunks from another country on your doorstep.  Don’t we bitch mightily here over the numbers of foreign criminals?  But these guys are a whole other ballgame and DO NOT have the support of the majority of the population.  They aren’t talking about criminals and they aren’t complaining merely about the drunks in public. Not at all.  They don’t believe women should be seen to begin with. THEY DON’T APPROVE of a women having a drink in a club or a bar period. And so THEY will dictate her options.  But in the name of their cult and with the religious fervor of the fanatic, I fear we’re gonna hear more from these people in the future.  Maybe not on the scale that we do from the ROP.  But I’d say foreigners and most especially the female variety who want to do some sightseeing and end the day with a cold drink or whatever, maybe needs to be on her guard if she really just has to go visit India.

Oh and be certain that should you be sitting in a public place you are married to the person you’re sitting with because these loony tunes don’t approve of mixed sitting either.

Hindu militants target British women drinking in Goa bars
A Hindu nationalist group has warned it plans to target British women drinking alcohol in the beach bars of Goa, India’s popular tropical tourist resort.

By Dean Nelson in New Delhi.

The Sri Ram Sena group’s threat comes after a string of attacks couples courting in public and young women drinking in pubs.

It claims the gang-rape and murder of British teenager Scarlett Keeling in the tourist paradise last year was an example of ‘Western culture’ causing tragedy and harming India.

The group has been denounced as a ‘Hindu Taliban’ for its violent protests against what it sees as the creeping westernisation of tradition Indian values and culture.

It launched a number of assaults on couples celebrating Valentines Day, and is believed to have been behind the kidnapping of a politician’s daughter following claims that she had dated a Muslim boy.

Last month the group provoked nationwide condemnation when its supporters forced their way into a pub in Mangalore, Karnataka, and attacked middle-class girls having an after-work drink with male colleagues.

One Indian minister denounced the group and called on the country’s women to go to the pub as a protest against the attack on their freedom.

The attacks won many admirers in India, however, from Hindu traditionalists, including some women’s rights campaigners, who believe women are at risk in pubs. One member of India’s National Commission for Women said girls dancing almost “nude” in the pub were to blame for the attacks.

Since then Sri Ram Sena leaders have been expanding their presence throughout India and now plan to target Goa’s notorious tourist resorts to raise their profile further.

It’s leader Pramod Muthalik said the former Portuguese enclave is the centre of an immoral culture which was now spreading throughout India, that his group will approach the government and the bar owners to persuade them to close down but will launch direct action if they refuse.

“We will agitate and create awareness against pub culture in Goa since this culture is spreading to other parts of the country,” he said.

His deputy Prasad Attavara, last night told The Daily Telegraph the group will discourage western tourists from visiting the resort’s pubs and urge them to focus of India’s ‘spirituality’ instead.

“The pubs are corrupting our culture. Everyday girls are exploited by wayward boys who have adopted western culture,” he said.

“They are spreading immorality in society, unmarried couples sit together in these shady pubs, which is a cause of concern for us.

“Westerners in their countries lead a valueless life, we want them to lead a spiritual life in India. We will try not to hurt tourism but if necessary steps will be taken.”

Closing down the pubs and clubs would stop the growing number of Westerners killed in drink-related incidents, he said.

“There have been so many incidents, particularly with females like that teenage girl Scarlett who was raped and killed last year. There are numerous incidents where tourists from the West were drunk and were killed, raped and robbed. It’s for their betterment to desist from pubs.”

Libraries put Bible on top shelf in a sop to Muslims. (HOW MIGHT THIS PLAY IN PEORIA?)

Nobody is surprised of course.  With these people, there’s never enough.
I suppose a church spire now could be next.

Who but those people (and I use the term “people” very loosely) who else would think of this?

And btw, speaking of quangos mentioned in the article here.  This country is run in large measure by these unelected bodies.  That’s the impression I get anyway.
I sure hope our system is different back home.  Before I came here, I hardly ever heard the word.  Maybe once and it was forgotten as they didn’t seem at the time to be playing a huge role in American life.  Or they were and I was just unaware of it.  But on this side of the lake, I hear that word a lot.

If so much here either causes offense or has the possibility of causing offense, why oh why can’t the muzzies just pack it all up and go live in a muzzie country and enjoy all the benefits there?  Except for the female of the species.  Benefits do not apply.  And please, on your way out would you mind taking ALL gypsies (travelers) with ya?  Thanks.

Librarians are being told to move the Bible to the top shelf to avoid giving offense to followers of Islam.

Muslims have complained of finding the Koran on lower shelves, saying it should be put above commonplace things.

So officials have responded with guidance, backed by ministers, that all holy books should be treated equally and go on the top shelf together.

The Bible has been moved to the top shelf in libraries following requests that the Koran be put above ordinary books

This means that Christian works, which also have immense historical and literary value, will be kept out of the reach and sight of many readers.

The guidance was published by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council, a quango answering to Culture Secretary Andy Burnham.

It said Muslims in Leicester had moved copies of the Koran to the top shelves of libraries, in keeping with the belief that the Koran is the all-important word of God.

The report said the city’s librarians consulted the Federation of Muslim Organisations and were advised that all religious texts should be kept on the top shelf.

‘This meant that no offence is caused, as the scriptures of all the major faiths are given respect in this way, but none is higher than any other,’ the guidance added.

Critics said such a move implied religious works should be treated as objects of veneration rather than as books to be read. Robert Whelan of the Civitas think-tank said:

The shelving guidance came from a quango answering to Andy Burnham

‘Libraries and museums are not places of worship. They should not be run in accordance with particular religious beliefs.

‘This is violating the principles of librarianship and it is part of an insidious trend.’

He said the principle that books should be available to everyone was established in Europe in the Middle Ages.

‘One of the central planks of the Protestant Reformation was that everybody should have access to the Bible,’ he added.

Simon Calvert of the Christian Institute said: ‘It is disappointing if the policy of libraries is dictated by the practices of one group.

‘It is particularly disappointing if this is done to put the scriptures beyond reach.

‘I hope there will be a rethink. I understand that Muslims revere their own text, but in public libraries there should not be a policy of putting religious texts out of reach.’

Inayat Bunglawala, of the Engage think tank, which encourages Muslims to play a greater role in public life, said: ‘If Muslims wish to see the Koran placed on a higher shelf, and library rules say it should be there, then that is a welcome and considerate gesture.

‘But one size does not fit all. If Christians do not want to see the Bible treated in the same way, I do not see why it has to be dealt with the same.’

Canon Chris Sugden, of the Anglican Mainstream movement, said: ‘This does appear to be a reversion to medieval times, when the Bible could be read only by priests in Latin and was not to be defiled by ordinary people reading it.

‘The principle to be challenged is that there is a certain way in which one must treat all holy books.

‘The Bible is readily available, and it would not be difficult to have more than one copy, with some on display within the reach of children.’

The guidelines warned against another decision made in Leicester, in which Islamic material had been bought from local suppliers.

Libraries then found they had put into stock Islamic books that were condoning violence against non- Muslims, the report said.

The new guidelines make it clear that pornography can be offered by libraries.

They said that some have stocked the Black Lace series of erotic stories aimed at women, and that others bought and lent Madonna’s Sex.

Librarians faced a ‘difficult balance’ but should try to ‘reflect changing fashion and opinion’, the guidance said.

Culture Minister Barbara Follett said: ‘We have to give staff the tools to enable them to make decisions about what materials they can and should stock while, at the same time, promoting learning, education and cultural inspiration for all.’

DIFFICULT POSTING AFTER THAT GREAT NOSE ART DREW POSTED. HATE TO BE DOWNER BUT…

A WARNING TO ENGLAND TO BE TAKEN VERY SERIOUSLY

I had no intention of posting anything this early today as I truly am busier then a duck in a flood and I’m not trying to be funny.
But there are times when something crops up that I consider so damn important I just have to drop whatever I’m doing and boot the puter and post.

I know there are Brits who visit this site almost everyday.  We don’t hear in comments as many of you as I see out there.
That’s okay I suppose, at least you’re reading us.

I think I can be fairly certain that at least one of you lurking Brits may not hold the same right wing conservative views we Yanks and some posting Brits do.  And that’s perfectly okay as well. What I have to share with you few unsuspecting Brits will be of unwelcome concern to both the left and right wing of of the political spectrum.

I am NOT joking and I am NOT mad although I can understand why some may think otherwise with regard to the last given some of my rants on things like capitol punishment and the lack of justice in the criminal justice system.

ENGLAND, YOU ARE ABOUT TO BE INVADED BY A GROUP AS DANGEROUS AND UNWANTED AS MUSLIM EXTREMISTS.

They really are EXPERT at using the system AGAINST you, and they WILL! Because they can.

If you don’t deport these people or better yet, KILL EVERY ONE OF THEM YOU CAN FIND, you are in for a world of trouble. Like all bullies, they can be made to back down somewhat.  Which does not lessen their danger. I just can not stress the danger enough.

It isn’t the Russian or islam or the Nazis you’re about to be invaded by.
It’s a group of AMERICANS, sad to say.  And believe me, there is NO reasoning with this group. But you’ll find out in due course the truth of what I say here.

One other thing you Brits need to know about this family.  THEY ARE ALMOST ALL LAWYERS!  Oh yes. They know the law and how to twist it and will do so.  And if they do ever get any kind of foothold in your country, you can be certain they know your laws as well.  In fact, better then you do.
Because that’s what they’re all about.  That’s what these scum bags do.

At some military funerals in America, this group has been driven off by the presence of a group called the Patriot Guard Riders.
I previously mentioned The Hells Angels but since have been corrected.
PGR started as a shield between the WBC loonies and the families of the honored dead. The PGR mission is to honor those who gave their lives for us.

My thanks to Wardmamma and Single Stack for the updated and correct information. And I do stand corrected.

Sadly however, my guess is that Brits will try and “reason” with these dirt bags.  It will NOT work England.  You’d have had a much better chance talking with Hitler and Stalin.

DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE A FOOTHOLD.  IF YOU DO, YOU WILL REGRET IT!

Westboro Baptist Church announces first anti-homosexuality picket in Britain
The fundamentalist US church notorious for picketing the funerals of dead soldiers plans to carry out its first protest in Britain this week, it has emerged.

Last Updated: 6:43PM GMT 16 Feb 2009

Followers of the virulently anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church have threatened to picket a sixth form college in Basingstoke, Hampshire during a staging of The Laramie Project, a play about an American youth murdered because of his sexuality.

The church from Topeka, Kansas is mainly composed of relatives of the founder, pastor Fred Phelps, who style themselves “the most hated family in America”.

Their core belief – that God will punish the West for its acceptance of homosexuality – has seen them protest at dozens of servicemen’s funerals brandishing garish placards stating “God hates the USA” and “Thank God for dead soldiers”.

Details of the church’s first picket in Britain was posted on their website with the slogan “God Hates England; Your Queen Is A W----”.

“Some of the best Bible preaching in the history of the world came out of that dark dismal land, but now it is full of all abominations,” the notice read.

“God will shortly destroy the UK and the world, but not until they have got the plain, clear message so that they will be without excuse.”

The target of Friday evening’s demonstration will be the Central Studio arts venue at Queen Mary’s College, where local gay group Freedom Youth is staging a small production of the The Laramie Project this week.

The play, which has roused the ire of Westboro followers in the past, tells the story of Matthew Shepard, a gay teenager tortured and murdered in small town America in 1998.

Shirley Phelps-Roper, a church spokeswoman, confirmed the plan but declined to say whether members would be flying over from the US or if the picket would be carried out by followers in Britain. The church has no scheduled pickets on the days immediately before or after the Basingstoke demonstration.

“It is the first actual picket. We have been preaching by so many means to the UK for years. The arm of the Lord our God is not shortened by oceans and things, all of which he created, and all of which he knew about when he considered these last hours of the very last days of all,” Mrs Phelps-Roper said.

In a lengthy justification of the protest, she cited the recent case of 13-year-old Alfie Patten, who claims to have fathered a child with his 15-year-old girlfriend, as evidence of UK’s moral decline.

“And then you can add to this pleasant little happy UK family moment that another 13-year-old boy has arisen to dispute paternity! Oh yea baby – you UK rebels truly have it groin [sic] on. You are like the doomed American rebels – just a big shameful mess,” she said.

Central Studio confirmed that it was aware of the planned protest and said it was making preparations with the school. A Freedom Youth leader said he believed the chance of the church carrying through on its picket threat was very low, given the distance its followers would have to travel.

Maria Miller, Conservative MP for Basingstoke, said that she had contacted the Home Secretary to see what action the Government may be considering in relation to possible attempts by the Phelps family to enter the country.

She condemned the church’s “highly inflammatory language and behaviour” and said the young people who had worked on the play would not be intimidated by threats.

“The most important thing is that a production that is trying to promote tolerance goes ahead and that’s what I’m focusing on achieving,” she said.

“There’s no evidence that they will be coming along and I don’t believe they have a base in the UK.”

Ben Summerskill, chief executive of Stonewall, the gay right group, described the church’s plan as “distressing”.

“The Laramie Project is a very serious play about a young man who was beaten to death just because he was gay. To regard that as a cause for celebration will make a lot of people both gay and straight feel very uncomfortable,” he said.

“I suspect that they won’t be welcomed by the people of Basingstoke.”

He added: “They have caused enormous distress by protesting outside the funerals of service personnel in the US and I hope they have no intention of trying anything similar in Britain.”

But he warned that any attempt to ban Westboro church members from travelling to Britain would just give them the oxygen of publicity similar to the attention garnered by the right-wing Dutch MP Geert Wilders last week.

(NO, IT IS NOT THE SAME THING AT ALL.  WILDERS AT LEAST HAS TRUTH ON HIS SIDE. AND HE HASN’T CALLED FOR THE KIND OF ACTION THESE PEOPLE ADVOCATE.  IT IS NOT THE SAME AT ALL.  SEE? THEY’RE NOT EVEN HERE YET AND ALREADY SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THEIR DANGER WANTS TO APPEASE THEM BY ALLOWING THEIR PROTEST ON THESE SHORES. BIG,BIG MISTAKE!)

Members of Anonymous, the nebulous online community that has previously organised protests against the Church of Scientology, are alreading planning counter-demonstrations outside the college on Friday, posts on internet message boards indicate.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Police said the force was aware of the planned picket.

Nurse suspended for offering to pray for elderly patient’s recovery .

I’m left wondering if there’s any more to this story then the headline.

If she took it upon herself to say a prayer without asking the patient, then I’d say she might have been out of line.

Many years ago when I was still a smoker and was recovering in a Nashville hospital from bladder surgery (removal of a tumor), I filled out a hospital card that had been passed around asking folks who wanted to stop smoking if they would like help in doing so. Well, I thought it wouldn’t hurt to get some help if it were offered and especially as it was the hosp. I was thinking in terms of some kind of treatment or maybe a pill that might put an end to a habit of some 36 years.
It wasn’t really that I wanted to quit as much as I thought I should, and so I filled out the card saying yes, I would like to quit smoking and yes I would appreciate help. Thinking it would be medical.

The very next day this polite and well dressed fellow showed up.  We exchanged a few pleasantries and had a very brief conversation with no religion being mentioned beforehand.  Next thing I know he has his eye shut tight and he’s talking to Jesus asking for his help in getting me to stop smoking.

Now people ... that really was unexpected, unwanted and unappreciated.  That isn’t exactly the help I had in mind.

PICTURE THIS:
There I am with a catheter and a tube and a bag attached to one personal part of me, one hand with a couple of drip whatever going in me, I am feeling anything but perky and this guy is on another side of me loudly praying.

I threw him out of my room.  Verbally of course.

I have nothing personal against prayer, but where my personal choice or space or whatever term you want to apply is hijacked, it stops being prayer and becomes an intrusion.  And it would have been polite to at least ask me if I wanted that rather then simply take it for granted.

A nurse has been suspended from her job for offering to pray for an elderly patient’s recovery from illness.

Caroline Petrie, a committed Christian, has been accused by her employers of failing to demonstrate a “personal and professional commitment to equality and diversity”.

She faces disciplinary action and could lose her job over the incident.

Mrs Petrie, a married mother of two, says she has been left shocked and upset by the action taken against her.

She insists she has never forced her own religious beliefs on anyone but politely inquired if the elderly patient wanted her to pray for her – either in the woman’s presence or after the nurse had left the patient’s home.

“I simply couldn’t believe that I have been suspended over this. I knew I hadn’t done anything wrong. All I am trying to do is help my patients, many of whom want me to pray for them,” she said.

Mrs Petrie, 45, is a community nurse employed by North Somerset Primary Care Trust to carry out home visits to sick and elderly patients.

The incident which led to her suspension took place at the home of a woman patient in Winscombe, North Somerset.

“It was around lunchtime and I had spent about 20 to 25 minutes with her. I had applied dressings to her legs and shortly before I left I said to her: ‘Would you like me to pray for you?’.

“She said ‘No, thank you.’ And I said: ‘OK.’ I only offered to pray for her because I was concerned about her welfare and wanted her to get better.”

However, after the incident on December 15, she was contacted by the trust and asked to explain her actions.

The woman patient, who is believed to be in her late 70s, is understood to have complained to the trust.

Mrs Petrie will not disclose the woman’s name or reveal the precise nature of her ailment because it would breach patient confidentiality.

Mrs Petrie, who lives in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, said she was initially confronted the next day by a nursing sister who said the patient had been taken aback by her question about prayer.

“I said: ‘I am sorry. Did I offend or upset her?’ The sister said: ‘No, no. She was just a bit taken back. You must be aware of your professional code of conduct. I would be careful.’

“But the next day my coordinator left a message on my home phone and I realised this had been taken further.”

Mrs Petrie said that she often offers to pray for her patients and that many take her up on it.

She either prays with them or after she has left their home. The nurse has been a committed Christian since she was ten – after her mother died of breast cancer.

Initially, she was Church of England but she switched to the Baptist faith nine years ago. “My faith is very important to me,” she said.

Mrs Petrie had previously been reprimanded for an incident in Clevedon last October when she offered to give a small, home-made prayer card to an elderly, male patient, who had happily accepted it.

On this occasion, the patient’s carer, who was with him, raised concerns over the incident.

Alison Withers, Mrs Petrie’s boss at the time, wrote to her at the end of November saying: “As a nurse you are required to uphold the reputation of your profession.

“Your NMC [Nursing Midwifery Council] code states that ‘you must demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to equality and diversity’ and ‘you must not use your professional status to promote causes that are not related to health’.”

In the letter, Mrs Petrie, who qualified as a nurse in 1985, was asked to attend an equality and diversity course and warned: “If there is any further similar incident it may be treated as potential misconduct and the formal disciplinary procedure could be instigated.”

Mrs Petrie said: “I stopped handing out prayer cards after that but I found it more and more difficult [not to offer them]. My concern is for the person as a whole, not just their health.

“I was told not to force my faith on anyone but I could respond if patients themselves brought up the subject [of religion].”

It is the second incident – the offer to pray for a patient – that led to the disciplinary action. She was suspended from her part-time job, without pay, on December 17.

She faced an internal disciplinary meeting last Wednesday and expects to learn the outcome this week.

At last week’s hour-long meeting, Mrs Petrie says she was told the patient had said she was not offended by the prayer offer but the woman argued that someone else might have been.

The nurse had her representative from the Royal College of Nursing present Mrs Petrie’s husband, Stewart, 48, works as a BT engineer and they have two sons, aged 14 and ten.

The couple attend Milton Baptist Church every Sunday and Mrs Petrie said: “Stuart and I have decided to put God first in our lives.”

Mrs Petrie, who has worked for the trust since February last year, has already taken legal advice from the Christian Legal Centre, which seeks to promote religious freedom and, particularly, to protect Christians and Christianity.

The centre, in turn, has instructed Paul Diamond, the leading religious rights barrister. Andrea Williams, the founder and director of the centre, said: “We are backing this case all the way.”

A spokesman for North Somerset Primary Care Trust said: “Caroline Petrie has been suspended pending an investigation into the matter.

“She is a bank nurse and she has been told we will not be using her in this capacity until the outcome of our investigation is known.

“We always take any concerns raised by our patients most seriously and conscientiously investigate any matter of this nature brought to our attention.

“We are always keen to be respectful of our patients’ views and sensitivity as well as those of our staff.”

After 130 years of fundraising, Salvation Army rattling tins might offend or frighten, wanna guess?

They just don’t want to name any one religion in particular but come on, who do you suppose these dunderheads have in mind.  You get ten guesses.

Tell ya what though.  It isn’t anyone from any religion, not even the muslims, who make these kinds of silly rules or worries about offense. It’s stupid white folks EVERY TIME!  Or almost every time.

Personally, I always thought all that damn rattling was a lot of unwanted noise. But otherwise, it never would have occurred to me that it might be “intimidating” or somehow offensive.  This latest action really is stupid.

What religion is there in this country that that might be offended or intimidated by a charity tin making some noise?  Answer, > 0.

After 130 years of fundraising, Salvation Army told to stop rattling collecting tins because it might ‘offend other religions’

By Paul Harris
Last updated at 12:07 PM on 15th December 2008

For 130 years they have been part of Christmas, filling the air in towns across the land with music and carols.

But one thing is missing from the repertoire of Salvation Army bands this year - the percussion of rattling tins.

Members have been forbidden to shake their charity tins - even if it’s done in time to the music - in case it harasses or intimidates people. One said she had been told it might also offend other religions.

Tin man: Salvation Army collectors have been told not to rattle their tins as it could be construed as religious harassment.

Guidelines for branches organising public collections say tinholders should simply keep the tin still.

It means that when the brass bands start up they can rock and roll all they want - but if they shake and rattle, it could put them in conflict with the law.

Councils and police can enforce the no-rattle rule and have powers to prosecute or ban offenders. The restriction was branded ‘bonkers’ yesterday both by donors and long-serving Salvation Army volunteers.

* Prison bans chapel crucifix to avoid offending Muslims

One collector told the Daily Mail: ‘I’ve been doing this for more than 40 years and I fail to see how rattling a tin could cause offence. If I was shaking a tambourine I could do it all day - if I shake my tin, I could end up in court.’

The ‘Silent Night’ rattle ban manifested itself at the weekend in Uxbridge, West London, when musicians from two local branches performed outside a shopping mall.

(They were outside because traders complained last year they were too loud to play inside).

Tony Keywood, shopping with his wife Sheila, was among a crowd enjoying the carols and stepped forward to make a donation.

‘I jokingly told them off for not shaking their tins,’ said Mr Keywood, 78, a retired telecoms executive. ‘They said they weren’t allowed to do that in case it caused offence to other religions. They said they’d been told rattling a tin was considered to be intimidating.

‘I don’t know who makes up these rules but I suspect it will have something to do with human rights. I do feel Britain has lost its way on things like this.’

Laws on public collections are long-established, but until the recent proliferation of so-called ‘charity muggers’ were not widely utilised.

Fundraisers have to be licensed, usually by the local authority, police or landowner. Councils and police can decide whom to license and how the rules are enforced.

The Salvation Army relies heavily on public generosity and believes street collections help to foster good relations.

Guidance now, however, is that members should not shake their tins. A Salvation Army source said: ‘We don’t have a formal policy of “You Shall Not Rattle” but we always act within the law.

‘Some authorities specifically ask us not to shake our tins. It is seen as harassment, or making people feel uncomfortable. I don’t think it’s to do with other religions. But it can make people feel we’re putting them under pressure to give.’

A spokesman added: ‘We want people to donate from the best of motives, so we advise collectors to avoid rattling their tins or asking people directly for money when stood on the high street.’
