News In and Around Iraq

This is the kind of stuff you read about in history books (not the ones in school, mind you.  REAL history books.)

A grenade is lobbed into a room. A Marine throws himself on top of that grenade to save the lives of his buddies.

Zarqawi must really be pissed off right about now.

Our soldiers have captured HUGE amounts of munitions in Fallujah.  In houses, in graveyards, in Mosques.  Tons and tons of rifles, ammo, mortars, bombs, RPGs, etc.  They’ve found “cookbooks” for how to make nerve agents.  They’ve found files on people who have been tortured and executed.

I’d say our boys are doing a great job!

Plop-Plop-Fizz-Fizz

Oh, what a relief it is .... if you remember what ad that jingle is from, you’re way too damned old (like me). If you’re not that old, I have only two words for you: “Speedy Alka-Seltzer”. How soon they forget. Right now I feel positively decadent. I had a 24-pound turkey in the oven all last night, fully stuffed with cornbread dressing and plenty of giblets, an additional six pounds of cornbread dressing with giblet gravy, plus five pounds of corn-on-the-cob, a massive stockpile of dinner rolls, a gallon of fresh cranberrys (whole berry, homemade), a large bowl of candied yams and three gallons of ice cold sweet tea. There’s also a gallon of Rocky Road ice cream and a fresh homemade apple pie. Did I mention that I like to cook?

My sons had to cancel their travel plans to come visit so I unexpectedly wound up with all this to myself. Me, 500,000 calories and two football games. Decadent, I tells ya. Positively decadent. I started eating at 9:00 this morning. Here is the cycle: (1) Stuff face until point of ‘splosion, (2) sleep fpr an hour or two, (3) watch football, (4) repeat until bathroom scales die a horrible death.

And I haven’t even touched the ice cream and apple pie yet .... I’m gonna keep eating until I look like Michael Moore then I’m gonna kidnap him and substitute myself for him in Hollywood .. the assholes out there won’t know what hit ‘em. Bwah-hah-ha-ha-ha-ha ....

Anyhow, the blog software has now been upgraded to Expression Engine 1.2. The new Gallery feature has been added and I have tested the functionality with pics from my visit to Indianapolis Motor Speedway last year. We need to convince our Benevolent Dictator to share his terabytes of pictures from his worldly travels. Help me pressure him to come clean. Leave your encouragement in the comments. We’re also accepting picture gallerys from members too so if you have pictures you want to share with all of us, send them to me. We would especially like to receive pics from any of our troops overseas .. wherever they may be. I just hope they are not eating like me today or else our enemies will have big fat targets to shoot at. Stay lean and mean, troops! I’ll save some of the “vittles” for when you come home. Until then, stay safe and pop a cap in a raghead’s ass fer me!

Update I: I just added a new photo gallery from pictures Vilmar sent me on CD of President Bush’s campaign visit in October to Vilmar’s home town in Florida. Way cool stuff.

Update II: Several people asked me to take our pictures of dead terrorists and collect them into a Gallery. I have done so. If you have any more pictures of dead or captured ragheads, forward them to me for inclusion.

Not Forgotten

As you pull your stuffed butt away from the dinner table tomorrow, content in the knowledge that you and your family are safe in the strongest country in the world, remember those who made it so. They are still on the front lines, scratching sand fleas out of their gear, fighting off fucktard assholes who would do all of us harm if they could .... and if these brave men and women weren’t there to protect us. They are performing a difficult and often thankless, underpaid task. They deserve at least a prayer from you and me tomorrow. A prayer of thanks for what they are doing in our behalf.

Remember them in your prayers tomorrow or I’ll slap each and every one of you upside your heads with a monster-size Cluebat. Got that? Good. Carry on!

CENTCOM BULLETIN PHILADELPHIA – Thanksgiving dinner won’t be coming out of a plastic pouch for Soldiers serving in theater. Close to 90,000 pounds of whole and boneless turkeys will be served to Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Defense Supply Center Philadelphia, an inventory control point of the Defense Logistics Agency, is making sure the Soldiers get $3.8 million worth of traditional holiday meals. The Thanksgiving trimmings sent to theater also include 121,019 pounds of ham; 70,231 pounds of beef; and 42,630 pounds of shrimp – not to mention 75,914 pounds of stuffing; 9,480 cans of cranberry sauce; 9,426 cans of mashed potatoes; 10,470 cans of sweet potatoes and 2,606 cases of corn on the cob. For dessert, 63,082 whole pies.

The MSM Stoops to Another Low

Looks like the MSM (mainstream media) is preparing itself for another orgasm blitz about Marines who killed a wounded Iraqi.

If allowed to run its course, we will be faced with 24/7 coverage equating this to Abu Ghraib.

Personally, I could give a flying fuck about that wounded piece of shit terrorist.  First off, the son of a bitch desecrated a mosque by using it as a shelter and shooting at our guys from inside it.  Second, these fuckwads would wave white flags of surrender and as our soldiers approached they’d lower the flag and start shooting.  Third, there have been instances of these dirtballs booby trapping themselves.  Fourth, they are nothing but a bunch of camel fucking, dirty, smelly sheethead terrorists.

You can make a difference:  do not watch any of the MSM news channels for ANY news (local, national, international.) Soon they will feel it in their advertising revenue.

Tribute

He’s a recent High School graduate; he was probably an average student, pursued some form of sport activities, drives a ten year old jalopy, and has a steady girlfriend that either broke up with him when he left, or swears to be waiting when he returns from half a world away. He listens to rock and roll or hip-hop or rap or jazz or swing and 155mm howitzer. He is 10 or 15 pounds lighter now than when he was at home because he is working or fighting from before dawn to well after dusk.

He has trouble spelling, thus letter writing is a pain for him, but he can field strip a rifle in 30 seconds and reassemble it in less time in the dark. He can recite to you the nomenclature of a machine gun or grenade launcher and use either one effectively if he must. He digs foxholes and latrines and can apply first aid like a professional. He can march until he is told to stop or stop until he is told to march.

He obeys orders instantly and without hesitation, but he is not without spirit or individual dignity. He is self-sufficient. He has two sets of fatigues: he washes one and wears the other. He keeps his canteens full and his feet dry. He sometimes forgets to brush his teeth, but never to clean his rifle. He can cook his own meals, mend his own clothes, and fix his own hurts. If you’re thirsty, he’ll share his water with you; if you are hungry, his food. He’ll even split his ammunition with you in the midst of battle when you run low.

He has learned to use his hands like weapons and weapons like they were his hands. He can save your life - or take it, because that is his job. He will often do twice the work of a civilian, draw half the pay and still find ironic humor in it all. He has seen more suffering and death then he should have in his short lifetime.

He has stood atop mountains of dead bodies, and helped to create them. He has wept in public and in private, for friends who have fallen in combat and is unashamed. He feels every note of the National Anthem vibrate through his body while at rigid attention, while tempering the burning desire to ‘square-away’ those around him who haven’t bothered to stand, remove their hat, or even stop talking. In an odd twist, day in and day out, far from home, he defends their right to be disrespectful.

Just as did his Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, he is paying the price for our freedom. Beardless or not, he is not a boy. He is the American Fighting Man that has kept this country free for over 200 years.

He has asked nothing in return, except our friendship and understanding. Remember him, always, for he has earned our respect and admiration with his blood.

And now we even have woman over there in danger, doing their part in this tradition of going to War when our nation calls us to do so. As you go to bed tonight, remember this shot.. A short lull, a little shade and a picture of loved ones in their helmets.......

“Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need.
Amen.”

Front Line Report From Fallujah

FALLUJAH, Iraq, Nov. 10, 2004 — Multinational and Iraqi officials here stated Nov. 10 that forces had fought their way through half of the city, including the Jolan District, suspected of being the epicenter of insurgent activity in the city. The combined Iraqi and multinational force operation had encountered light resistance along the way into the heart of the city, running into small pockets of fighters as they made their way through the restive town. Forces of Operation Al Fajr, Arabic for “dawn,” have retaken key civic buildings, including Fallujah’s mayoral office, which was taken over by multinational and Iraqi forces at about 4 a.m. today. Several mosques, key bridges and other military and civic buildings have also been retaken. Insurgent reinforced strongholds in and around the city have been destroyed, including insurgent defensive positions on the outskirts of the city. Reports from combat units indicate that several weapons and explosives caches have been found, as well as car bombs and improvised explosive devices, also known as IEDs. Yesterday, Iraq’s Prime Minister Ayad Allawi announced that Maj. Gen. Abdul Qader Mohammed Jassim, the Iraqi ground forces commander in Fallujah, was appointed as the interim military governor of the Western Anbar province until a civilian can take control of the area once order is restored. The province includes Fallujah. The appointment comes as multinational and Iraqi forces continue their operation “on schedule and as planned,” officials here stated. Reports from field commanders confirmed that in the third day of operations multinational and Iraqi forces had suffered 11multinational and two Iraqi casualties since fighting began to retake the city. Officials here reported that nine Iraqi soldiers and Ministry of Interior personnel had been wounded in the past 24 hours. “Foreign fighters are the real terrorists here,” Qader said as he received a battle update.

Multinational and Iraqi military officials summarized the Iraqi military’s activity in the past 24 hours of the operation:

The 1st Battalion, 1st Brigade of the Iraqi Intervention Force attacked the city as an independent battalion, maneuvering under its own control, but in coordination with the multinational effort. The 1st Battalion is now in control of its own sector in the city.

The 2nd Battalion, 1st Brigade of the IIF attacked and seized the Hydra Mosque along with U.S. Marines of Regimental Combat Team 7.

The IIF’s 4th Battalion, 1st Brigade, is attacking targets along with U.S. Marine forces from the 1st RCT .

The 5th Battalion, 3rd Brigade of the Iraqi Army seized Al Tawfiq Mosque with U.S. Marines from the 7th RCT.

The 6th Battalion, 3rd Brigade of the Iraqi Army is manning vehicle check points along roads in the heart of the city alongside of the U.S. Army’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

The Iraqi Police Service’s Emergency Response Unit is also at the Hydra Mosque with IIF forces.

“We have no information of anyone [civilians] being hurt and we have no reports of anyone trying to get out of the city,.” a U.S. Marine Corps official said.

Veterans Day

Today is a day for every one of us to celebrate the service of all of our veterans. While many fought during time of war and many served during peace, all swore to do whatever their country asked of them to maintain peace and prevent war.

Regardless of where they served or what branch they were in, each did his/her very best so you and I can continue to enjoy the liberties and rights we hold so dear to our hearts.

So far, more than 1,100 American military members have died and thousands injured in the war on terrorism. We cannot bring back those who lost their lives in battle, but what we can do is honor them by demonstrating appreciation in everything we do to ensure veterans receive every entitlement and benefit they so richly deserve. By doing so, we pay tribute to their contributions in creating a future world free from fear despite the personal cost to them.

Thank you veterans. Our nation gratefully thanks you for your self-sacrifice.

Sears Supports Deployed Troops, Families

WASHINGTON, Nov. 9, 2004—Sears, Roebuck and Co. is proving to be a friend of military families—from making up lost pay for its employees called to active duty in the National Guard and reserve, to donating $2 million to the National Military Family Association for military family programs.

The Chicago-based retailer announced in September that it is extending its military pay differential and benefits coverage to five years. This is the second extension this year. In January, Sears extended its military pay differential to three years, from 30 months.

The announcement, which affects about 200 full-time Sears employees, also means they can continue participating in the company’s life insurance, medical and dental programs, if they choose.

By law, companies are required to provide deployed employees access to 18 months of continued medical coverage at the employees’ expense. But Sears’ policy, which provides these benefits up to five years, goes far beyond the law’s requirements.
