Cindy Screeches Again

Rob Port asks a very salient question: Can we question her patriotism yet?

CARACAS (AFP) - Anti-war protester Cindy Sheehan, mother of a US soldier killed in Iraq, joined more than 10,000 anti-globalization activists in Caracas, where she hailed Venezuela’s leftist President Hugo Chavez.

“I admire him for his resolve against my government and its meddling,” said Sheehan, who gained notoriety when she camped outside US President George W. Bush’s ranch last year to protest the Iraq war. She said she hoped to meet Chavez later in the week. [Emp mine -Ed.]

Denouncing your own government is one thing, but standing up in a hostile country and saying this is a horse of a different color. She talks about our “totalitarian” regime, but how long could she stand in Caracas and denounce Hugo Chavez without being “detained”?

Florida School Shooting Update

Surprise! Now we hear from the boy’s family ... and attorney. The father claims he tried to warn police and even went to the school to try to resolve the issue. The lawyer is doing most of the talking though. This bodes ill. My magic Ouija board tells me there will be a wrongful death lawsuit for millions in damage and a deputy will be fired. My gut tells me this boy’s father bears most of the responsibility for not having talked to his son and helping him through an adolescent crisis. Yet he will probably get a huge settlement from the county. Keep an eye on this one and let me know if I’m right ...

The parents of a 15-year-old boy accused of terrorizing classmates with a pistol warned authorities the weapon likely was fake before police shot him in a middle school bathroom, a family attorney said Saturday. Christopher Penley, of Winter Springs, was accused of pulling a pellet gun in a classroom Friday and pointing it at other students. When he later raised the weapon at a deputy, a SWAT team member shot him, authorities said. Penley was clinically brain dead Saturday, said family attorney Mark Nation. “His organs are in the process of being harvested,” Nation said.

Officers who had responded to the 1,100-student school in suburban Orlando believed the gun was a Beretta 9mm, and didn’t learn until after the shooting that it was a pellet gun. The boy’s parents, Ralph and Donna Penley, were in contact with authorities during the incident and told them they believed Penley did not have a real gun, Nation said. Ralph Penley went to the school to attempt to talk his son out of the situation. “When he got to the school, they would not let him in and he was later told Christopher had been shot,” Nation said.

Sheriff’s officials Saturday did not return several calls from The Associated Press seeking comment on the lawyer’s allegations. Friends and investigators say Penley was bullied and emotionally distraught, and went to school that day expecting to die. Patrick Lafferty, a 15-year-old neighbor who has known Penley about six years, said he wasn’t surprised by what happened. He said Penley was a loner who “told me he wanted to kill himself dozens of times.”

“He would put his headphones on and walk up and down the street and he would work out a lot,” preferring to keep to himself, Lafferty said. Kelly Swofford, a family spokeswoman and neighbor of the boy’s parents, said the boy had run away from home several times. Her 11-year-old son, Jeffery Swofford, said Penley had said he had something planned. “He said `I hope I die today because I don’t really like my life,’” Jeffery Swofford said.

Maurice Cotey, 13, told WKMG-TV in Orlando that he struggled with Penley over the gun after everyone else left the classroom. “He got me towards the closet door, he turned me around, and ... started to point the gun at me, so I started to grab for it. And he pulled it away and then I grabbed for it one more time, .... twisted it and I pointed it at him.”

Cotey said after he put the gun to Penley’s legs, the gunman kicked him into the closet, where the two scuffled further, before Penley ran out of the classroom. The school went into lockdown. From there, Seminole County Sheriff Don Eslinger said, Penley traversed the Milwee Middle School campus before ending up in a bathroom. By then, more than 40 officers, including SWAT and negotiators, were on scene. He refused to drop the firearm, Eslinger said, and was shot after pointing it at a SWAT deputy.

Jeffery Swofford said Penley had been in a disagreement with someone, allegedly over a girl. There was going to be a fight Friday, he said. “I heard a rumor that he had a BB gun, but I didn’t think he really had one,” he added.

Man Who Killed Over ‘A’ On Hat Sentenced To Die
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKMG-TV)

A man convicted of killing a retired Pensacola police officer has been sentenced to death. Circuit Judge John Kuder sentenced Ryan Thomas Green to death on Wednesday. In October, a jury convicted Green of first-degree murder for the slaying of James Hallman, attempted murder for shooting a second man and robbery with a firearm. The jury also recommended 10-2 that Green be put to death for fatally shooting Hallman on Feb. 23, 2003.

Green, 22, was also sentenced Wednesday to two consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole for the attempted murder and robbery with a firearm of housepainter Christopher Phipps. The death sentence will be appealed automatically. Green apologized Wednesday to Hallman’s and Phipps’ families. “From the bottom of my heart, I am truly sorry,” he said.

He testified during his trial last year that he fatally shot Hallman because he believed the University of Alabama “A” on the victim’s ball cap signified he was the Antichrist. He also testified that he had set out to take his own life but that a talking bull, religious signs, colors and symbols influenced him to shoot Hallman and Phipps. Phipps, who remains confined to a wheelchair, was shot at his home where Green stole his car and a gun. Green then shot a bull in a pasture before killing Hallman.

Green’s trial was delayed more than a year after he was declared mentally incompetent. He later was found competent for trial after undergoing treatment. He also had received treatment at a mental health facility before the shootings. Green’s relatives said Wednesday that sentencing a mentally ill person to death was “cruel and inhumane.”

“The family did everything we could to get him help and protect him from himself. Ryan has felt a lot of remorse and guilt over this, and we truly believe that he was not in his right mind,” said Green’s mother, Cynthia. “I am very sorry that this has happened. But our family has been ripped apart as well.” Hallman’s son applauded the death sentence. “I will feel closure when I watch his last breath, just like he forced us to watch my father’s last breath,” said James Hallman III.

And The Beat Goes On

The kettle continues to boil over down under. Australian youth are fighting it out in Sydney. Whites against Muslims. Riots, stabbings, smashing shops ... it is only going to get worse, as one shopkeeper in Sydney says below.

I wonder ... how much of it is caused by actual racism and how much is caused by the Muslims’ penchant for remaining separate and apart from the societys they move into? How do you integrate a group of people who refuse to integrate and who hole up in enclaves and listen to Imams talk of destroying the country they moved to?

I’m afraid this is going to spread to other areas. As we saw recently in France, entire countries are already facing the problem of Muslim integration ... with very little success ... and no viable solution in sight - other than to just ship ‘em all back to their home countries in the Middle East ...

Racial Violence Continues
in Australia

SYDNEY, Australia (AP)

Young people riding in vehicles smashed cars and store windows in suburban Sydney late Monday, a day after thousands of drunken white youths attacked people they believed were of Arab descent at a beach in the same area in one of Australia’s worst outbursts of racial violence.

Sunday’s attack—apparently prompted by reports that Lebanese youths had assaulted two lifeguards—sparked retaliation by young men of Arab descent in several Sydney suburbs, fighting with police and smashing 40 cars with sticks and bats, police said. Thirty-one people were injured and 16 were arrested in hours of violence.

The rampage on Monday broke out in Cronulla, the same coastal suburb where the violence began, and in neighboring Carringbah, said Paul Bugden, spokesman for New South Wales police. Calm was restored by early Tuesday. Bugden said six people were arrested and one person apparently was hit by a rock in Monday’s violence. He did not have descriptions of those involved in the rampage, but he said it “obviously stems from the last 24-48 hours.”

Australian Associated Press, citing a resident who declined to be named, said men riding in up to 50 cars and wielding baseball bats converged on Cronulla, smashing cars. Ambulances were called to help at least one injured man seen lying on the side of the road. Steven Dawson said a bottle thrown through his apartment window in the suburb of Brighton-Le-Sands showered his 5-month-old son Caleb with glass, but did not hurt the child.

Horst Dreizner said a car had rammed into his denture store and he feared the violence would escalate. “Personally, I think it is only the beginning,” he said in a telephone interview. Elsewhere, about 300 people of Arab descent demonstrated against Sunday’s attack outside one of Sydney’s largest mosques, amid tight security.

The riots began Sunday after rumors circulated that youths of Lebanese descent were responsible for an attack last weekend on two lifeguards at Cronulla Beach. Police said the assault was not believed to be racially motivated. Police, meanwhile, formed a strike force to track down the instigators of the attack, some of whom were believed to be from white supremacist groups. Police said they were also seeking an Arab man who allegedly stabbed a white man in the back.

Beware The Ides Of March

Things are about to get real strange over in raghead-land. The mad mullahs in Iran have never stopped their attempts to destroy Israel by funding Hezbollah, Hamas and other suicide bomber groups. They have been quietly building nuclear plants all over the countryside and refusing to cooperate with the IAEA on inspections. They have been stalling negototiations with Europe and the UN and recently “elected” a President who is a complete whacko.

These fascist madmen are intent on acquiring nukes and there is no doubt what they will do with them. Israel finds itself staring down the barrel of a large atomic gun and the Jews don’t like it one bit. I can’t say as I blame them really. This is all about to get radically out of hand in March when the IAEA presents its next report to the UN. Israel is already getting prepared to protect itself once again. Who knows what will come of this? All I know is there will be a lot of dead people and several cities in Iran will not be habitable by humans for a long time ...

Israel Readies Forces For Strike On Nuclear Iran
TEL AVIV (LONDON TIMES)

Israel’s armed forces have been ordered by Ariel Sharon, the prime minister, to be ready by the end of March for possible strikes on secret uranium enrichment sites in Iran, military sources have revealed. The order came after Israeli intelligence warned the government that Iran was operating enrichment facilities, believed to be small and concealed in civilian locations.

Iran’s stand-off with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) over nuclear inspections and aggressive rhetoric from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, who said last week that Israel should be moved to Europe, are causing mounting concern. The crisis is set to come to a head in early March, when Mohamed El-Baradei, the head of the IAEA, will present his next report on Iran. El-Baradei, who received the Nobel peace prize yesterday, warned that the world was “losing patience” with Iran.

A senior White House source said the threat of a nuclear Iran was moving to the top of the international agenda and the issue now was: “What next?” That question would have to be answered in the next few months, he said. Defence sources in Israel believe the end of March to be the “point of no return” after which Iran will have the technical expertise to enrich uranium in sufficient quantities to build a nuclear warhead in two to four years.

“Israel — and not only Israel — cannot accept a nuclear Iran,” Sharon warned recently. “We have the ability to deal with this and we’re making all the necessary preparations to be ready for such a situation.” The order to prepare for a possible attack went through the Israeli defence ministry to the chief of staff. Sources inside special forces command confirmed that “G” readiness — the highest stage — for an operation was announced last week.

Gholamreza Aghazadeah, head of the Atomic Organisation of Iran, warned yesterday that his country would produce nuclear fuel. “There is no doubt that we have to carry out uranium enrichment,” he said. He promised it would not be done during forthcoming talks with European negotiators. But although Iran insists it wants only nuclear energy, Israeli intelligence has concluded it is deceiving the world and has no intention of giving up what it believes is its right to develop nuclear weapons.

A “massive” Israeli intelligence operation has been underway since Iran was designated the “top priority for 2005”, according to security sources. Cross-border operations and signal intelligence from a base established by the Israelis in northern Iraq are said to have identified a number of Iranian uranium enrichment sites unknown to the the IAEA.

Australians Mob Arabs

It looks like the kettle is starting to boil over much sooner than anyone expected. It is already happening in Australia and may spread even further before this is over with. I’m talking about a backlash against Arab-looking people. Yes, it is racial profiling and it is very wrong. Or is it? Here we are in the 21st century with Muslims running around all over the world setting fire to entire countries, blowing up buildings and people, hijacking airliners and killing Westerners at every opportunity.

Are all Muslims or Arab-looking people to blame? No, of course not but to many around the world it is starting to look like a clash of civilizations and tempers are flaring everywhere. I hate to say it but this may just be a precursor of things to come. It may get much worse unless cooler heads prevail ... on both sides. Unless the Arab countries in the Middle East and Southeast Asia start to really crack down on their radicals and the Imams start preaching against violence it will only get worse. Much worse, I’m afraid ...

Beach Erupts Into Violence

CRONULLA BEACH, NSW Australia (AAP)

Angry crowds have singled out and bashed people of Middle Eastern appearance at Sydney’s Cronulla beach as racial tension erupted into violence. And an ambulance called to the scene to treat five people injured in today’s violence has been attacked by a mob who shattered its windows. Meanwhile, police have been pelted with beer bottles, and their patrol cars stomped on, as the outnumbered officers struggled to maintain control.

Witnesses saw officers using capsicum spray in a bid to quell those perpetrating the violence. NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Goodwin said police were forcing their way through the crowd, trying to prevent further attacks. He said a number of people had been assaulted but could not say exactly how many. However, an ambulance spokesman said at least five people had been injured.

It was those people the ambulance was trying to reach when it was attacked. “An ambulance attempting to transport five injured people from the scene was set upon by a large group of people who smashed its windows,” an ambulance spokesman said. Mr Goodwin said today’s violence was disgusting. “What has been occurring on some fronts is that people of Middle Eastern backgrounds that have been seen in the Cronulla area – a swarm of the crowd has approached these people with vile abuse, in the most un-Australian way,” Mr Goodwin said.

“We have a number of reports of persons that have been assaulted.” He said the bulk of the crowd had behaved but pockets of violence had broken out. “… we have sections of the crowd that have swollen towards young Arabic males and females, who have been using this beach.” Three people have been arrested so far, with more arrests expected.

Earlier today, police rushed to Cronulla train station where a mob ran there from the foreshore after receiving a text message saying a group of Lebanese people were trying to leave. Mr Goodwin said the text message was wrong, but sparked a scuffle at the station between the crowd and police.

Taxed Twice, Sued Forever

This almost reads like an episode from The Twilight Zone. The family in the story below obviously live in the wrong place. I’m thinking it may be time for them to move their house two feet west ... or south ... or east ... or ... oh, forget it - there are taxmen on all sides, it seems. Better just to blow the house up, collect the insurance and move to another state. Problem solved.

Schools Suing For $35K Tuition
Forest Hills pursues family whose house was on border
CINCINNATI

James and Linda Huegel sent their two children to the Forest Hills School District, and now the school board is suing the couple for $35,485 in back tuition from 1993 to 1999. The district says the couple lived in the 8000 block of Forest Pine Drive, which was in the West Clermont School District at the time, according to the suit filed in Clermont County Common Pleas Court. The residence was transferred to the Forest Hills district in 2000.

Forest Hills sued the couple in October 2000, but Clermont County Common Pleas Court ruled it did not have jurisdiction until the Ohio Department of Education ruled. The district turned to the Court of Appeals, which agreed with the trial court’s decision. The Ohio Supreme Court refused the case.

The Department of Education ruled in June that the Huegels were not Forest Hills residents before the 1999-2000 school year and that their attendance was unauthorized. On Aug. 19, the Forest Hills School Board demanded full payment of tuition, but the Huegels haven’t paid, the lawsuit said.

Ohio law says that school districts must provide free public education to students living within their geographic borders, but districts are allowed to set tuition amounts for out-of-district residents who want to enroll.

Part of the Forest Pine residence is located in Clermont County, and part of it is in Hamilton County, said Bronston McCord, attorney for Forest Hills. The Huegels’ developer told them that their house is in Forest Hills, which was incorrect, McCord said. Every other house on the street is in Forest Hills. McCord said it’s unlikely that the Huegels didn’t know they were in the wrong school district, because they received two tax bills - one from Hamilton County and a larger one from Clermont County. Both list the school district.

Whether the Huegels knew that they were sending their kids to the wrong district, Forest Hills still has to pursue the matter, McCord said. “The bottom line is that Forest Hills is required by law to collect tuition for the unauthorized attendance.” While building their Forest Pine Drive home in 1993, they discovered the property sat in two school districts, James Huegel said. Because of that, the Huegels sought an Ohio Department of Education opinion in 1993.

“The Ohio Department of Education told us we could attend either school district, because we were paying taxes in both,” Huegel said. But in June 1999, the Huegels received a letter from Forest Hills, saying their children could not attend school there. “They (Forest Hills) have some responsibility in this also to know what property is in their district or what property they believe is in their district,” Huegel said. “It’s not like we gave them a phony address.”

Attention: Goat Lovers!

“They’re all strongly endorsed by the state’s three major powerful homosexual lobbying groups. … They’re all Democrats. They’re all vocal supporters of homosexual ‘marriage’ and whatever else the homosexual lobby bids them to do. And now all four have introduced Senate bill 938. Even the left-wing Weekly Dig can’t believe that the Massachusetts Legislature is poised to go this far.”

A story in Boston’s Weekly Dig describes the legislation, entitled “An Act Relative to Archaic Crimes.” “The bill would strike down several sections of the current penal code criminalizing adultery, fornication and the advertisement of abortion,” the reported stated. “It also repeals what appears to be a sodomy statute forbidding ‘abominable and detestable crime against nature, either with mankind or with a beast.’

The bill was taken up during a public hearing Nov. 1 in the Legislature’s Joint Committee on the Judiciary. Reportedly, no one from the public testified against the measure.

Most Ridiculous News Item (of all time)

Hunting season just opened up in most states this week and there will be a lot of hunters out there in the woods, stalking deer, elk and other assorted critters. In the interests of public safety, I urge all hunters to make sure you wear highly visible day-glo orange vests to make sure other hunters can see you and (hopefully) aim elsewhere. However, if you’re in Louisiana it just might be a good idea to stay home until it’s all over. Trust me on that one ...

Blind Students Get A Shot At Deer Hunting
RUSTON, La. (ESPN)

Six people from the Louisiana Center for the Blind in Ruston got an opportunity this past weekend to do something they never thought they’d be able to do — go deer hunting. Toting shotguns, the blind hunters were part of the “Shot in the Dark” hunt in Caldwell Parish organized by the National Wild Turkey Federation. The hunt on Saturday and Sunday was the first time the Wheelin’ Sportsmen, an outreach effort by the federation, has been held.

“This hunt was set up to help folks with disabilities get out and have an outdoor experience,” said Greg Brown, Wheelin’ Sportsmen regional coordinator. The six hunters got their first chance Friday to practice shooting at the Ouachita Parish Public Shooting Range just east of Monroe. Each is teamed with a guide who sits behind him or her.

As a hunter holds the gun, a guide looks over the hunter’s shoulder down the barrel and tells the hunter where to adjust the aim and when to pull the trigger. Each hunter was also briefed on safety procedures. Jumar Johnson, 29, smiled proudly after taking his first shots at a paper target. He carried around his target, which showed a bullseye hit in the center.

“I didn’t think anybody would trust me out in the woods,” Johnson said. “This will be my first time to hunt, and I’m looking forward to taking home the biggest deer out there.” With the cooperation of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the hunt was held on an island near the Columbia Locks and Dam. Lead Park Ranger Tony Porter said the island features about 350 acres of good hunting land.

Iranian Leader: Israel Will Be Destroyed
TEHERAN (AP)

Iran’s hard-line president called for Israel to be “wiped off the map” and said a new wave of Palestinian attacks will destroy the Jewish state, state-run media reported Wednesday. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also denounced attempts to recognize Israel or normalize relations with it.

“There is no doubt that the new wave (of attacks) in Palestine will wipe off this stigma (Israel) from the face of the Islamic world,” Ahmadinejad told students Wednesday during a Tehran conference called “The World without Zionism.”

“Anybody who recognizes Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation’s fury, any (Islamic leader) who recognizes the Zionist regime means he is acknowledging the surrender and defeat of the Islamic world,” Ahmadinejad said.

Ahmadinejad also repeated the words of the founder of Iran’s Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who called for the destruction of Israel. “As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map,” said Ahmadinejad, who came to power in August.

Ahmadinejad referred to Israel’s recent withdrawal from the Gaza Strip as a “trick,” saying Gaza is part of the Palestinian territories and the withdrawal was meant to make Islamic states acknowledge Israel.

Cindy Sheehan, the military mother who made her son’s death in Iraq a rallying point for the anti-war movement, plans to tie herself to the White House fence to protest the milestone of 2,000 U.S. military deaths in Iraq. “I’m going to go to Washington, D.C. and I’m going to give a speech at the White House, and after I do, I’m going to tie myself to the fence and refuse to leave until they agree to bring our troops home,” Sheehan said in a telephone interview last week as the milestone approached.

“And I’ll probably get arrested, and when I get out, I’ll go back and do the same thing,” she said. The death toll among U.S. military forces since the March 2003 invasion stood at 1,996 on Sunday. The milestone’s approach prompted plans for hundreds of other demonstrations across the United States, but for Sheehan, each military death in the Iraqi war has been a tragedy.

“To me, every single member since Number One has been tragic and needless and unnecessary,” she said. “My son was somewhere around 615, and I’ve been working so hard for peace since my son was killed and now almost 1,400 more soldiers have been killed since Casey died.” Army Specialist Casey Sheehan was killed in Iraq on April 4, 2004. Beyond Sheehan’s plans, a candlelight vigil is planned at the White House to mourn the 2,000-death milestone. Hundreds of other demonstrations are scheduled for the day after the milestone number is reached.

“I hope that this milestone marks the point when the American people realize the U.S. military is not going to stop the violence in Iraq, and they instead start demanding a political solution to this problem,” Sean O’Neill, a U.S. Marine who served in Iraq, said in a statement.

The American Friends Service Committee was helping coordinate activists to protest the Iraq war. “On the day after the 2,000th reported U.S. military death in Iraq, people will gather in communities across the U.S. to say that the countries pro-peace majority wants Congress to stop the deaths by stopping the dollars that are funding the war,” a coalition of anti-war groups said online at http://www.afsc.org.

And I don’t know how I feel about it because I’m basically against the death penalty, but they are going to be executed it looks like.” Franken later suggested that President Bush is at risk of receiving the same punishment, since Karl Rove likely told him what he did, but he added a caveat: “I think, by the way, that we should never ever, ever, ever execute a sitting President.”

There are times when I cruise the web and suddenly encounter something in the news that literally makes me think that humanity is on its last legs and extinction is just minutes away. Hell, the dinosaurs disappeared for being less stupid than this. Is this specimen the best that the human race can produce after millions of years? Please tell me it ain’t so! Between this kook and Michael Jackson, I have decided that today’s “entertainers” need a really solid #12 ClueBat up side of their painted, empty heads. What’s really scarey is that booger’ed up people like dumbass below wouldn’t be “famous” if large groups of similarly booger’ed up people weren’t buying his records. Singer Boy George Arrested on Drug Charge
NEW YORK (AP)

Boy George was arraigned on drug charges early Saturday, nearly 24 hours after calling 911 to report what he said was a burglary in his Manhattan apartment, authorities said. The British singer, whose real name is George O’Dowd, claimed his home had been burglarized around 3 a.m. Friday, said Detective Kevin Czartoryski, a police spokesman.

Officers arrived at O’Dowd’s Manhattan apartment and discovered a small amount of cocaine next to a computer, police said. Police were continuing to investigate. The singer was released Saturday without bail after being charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, allegedly more than an eighth of an ounce of cocaine, said Barbara Thompson, a spokeswoman for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

Calls to the office of O’Dowd’s lawyer went unanswered early Saturday. It is not the first time Boy George has had problems with drugs. In 1986, the singer was convicted for heroin possession in England. Two of his friends overdosed in the incident and O’Dowd was forced into a rehabilitation program. The conviction led to the disintegration of his group, Culture Club, one year later.

Boy George, famous for his androgynous persona, and Culture Club had hits including “Karma Chameleon” and “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me.”

Novelty pig calendars and toys have been banned by bosses at Dudley Council in case Muslim staff are offended.

Workers in the council’s benefits department have been told to remove or cover up all pig products including toys, porcelain, calendars and even a tissue box featuring Winnie the Pooh and Piglet.

It comes after a Muslim worker said they were offended by pig-shaped stress relievers delivered to the authority.

Muslims are forbidden from eating pork in the Koran and staff were asked to remove the items.

The partner of one of the members of staff in the Ednam Road department, who did not want to be named, said: “It’s caused a bit of an atmosphere in the office. The staff did comply but it’s just crazy - things like ornaments that have been on desks for years have had to be removed.”

Head of finance at the council Mike Williams, who is responsible for the department, said the member of staff said they were offended by the products in the run up to the Islamic festival of Ramadan.

He said a decision will be taken after the festival ends about whether the items are allowed back.

Asked what reason the member of staff gave in making the request for their removal, he said it “did not matter why it was considered offensive”.

He acknowledged that some members of the department had seen it as “political correctness gone barmy”.

Councillor Mahbubur Rahman, a practicing Muslim, said he agreed with the action taken.

“If it is a request made by an individual and other officers can reason a comprimise it is a good thing, it is a tolerance and acceptance of their beliefs and understanding,” he said.

“But if it were a blanket ban I don’t know how it would benefit the whole issue of working together.”
