a case of one doctor who clearly did not know best

Don’t know what to say.  Or how. Oh yes I do.  If he were an enemy of the public, like for example,

A White doctor ....... ?

This caught my eye recently ... it must catch yours as well.

No surprise though.  In the bizarre world we live in today, this might be accepted as par for the course.

Seems to me he should never be allowed near a patient again. Ever. The fact that he was not fired, makes me wonder if there is more to this story.

The hosp. trust will consider?  Consider his “ongoing employment and training.”

Take a look.

Foreign doctor attacked female patient who disagreed with diagnosis: GP given six month conditional discharge

Dr Abiodun Bale grabbed patient as she tried to leave

They argued over treatment for a facial condition

He denied assault but was found guilty after two-day trial

By Liz Hull

A foreign doctor attacked a female patient in his surgery when she disagreed with his diagnosis.

Dr Abiodun Bale, 42, grabbed Sheena Cunningham as she tried to leave his consultation room in tears after they argued over treatment for a facial condition.

The doctor from Nigeria denied assault when he appeared in court but was found guilty after a two-day trial.

He was given a six-month conditional discharge but will face a disciplinary hearing at work and could lose his job.

Bale, who qualified as a doctor at the University of Lagos in 1995, worked as a gynaecologist in his home country before coming to Britain and registering with the General Medical Council in 2006.

He was given a licence to practise here in November 2009 and was on a placement, for speciality GP training, at Hyndburn Medical Practice in Accrington, Lancashire, when the assault happened on March 26.

Eddie Harrison, prosecuting, said Bale had asked Mrs Cunningham to come in to the practice after a telephone consultation about a problem with her face, during which she had become distressed.

When she arrived, the doctor told Mrs Cunningham she might need to call for an ambulance if her condition deteriorated later when the surgery was closed.

Mr Harrison told Burnley Magistrates’ Court: ‘She didn’t want to do this and at this point he raised his voice.’

Mrs Cunningham was frightened, got up to leave and said she wanted a second opinion, the court was told. ‘[Bale] became agitated and, as she stepped out, he grabbed her hand to prevent her closing the door,’ Mr Harrison said.

‘He then grabbed her by the forearm with both hands and tried to drag her back into the room. She screamed and shouted at him to get off her arm. This attracted the attention of another doctor and two cleaners. The other doctor told Bale to go back into his office and then escorted Mrs Cunningham out of the surgery.’

The court was told that a week earlier the GP, who lives in Manchester, ‘flipped’ at another patient, shouting at her: ‘For God’s sake, I have other people to see besides you.’ ‘She got up to leave and he tried to grab her hand. She felt frightened and vulnerable,’ said Mr Harrison.

Bale claimed the incident with Mrs Cunningham was a misunderstanding, saying: ‘I’m a doctor, not a thug.’

But Mr Harrison said: ‘There was no mistake or misunderstanding. She was crying so loudly that two ladies outside heard her crying.’

After the allegations, the GMC placed conditions on how Bale worked, including allowing him to carry out consultations only if another qualified medical practitioner was present.

The Pennine Acute Hospitals Trust, which employs Bale, said he would face disciplinary proceedings.

‘The trust will now consider the consequences for his ongoing employment and training,’ a spokesman said.

OMG, Look What They’ve Done

Signing up all the gays for Obamacare is a really big deal. They’re getting priority it seems, because, gosh, so many LGBTs and lesbians don’t have insurance. (not that they’ve been turned down for it? can’t say.)

Among those most in need of access to health insurance are LGBT Americans.  Research has shown that lesbians and transgender people have lower rates of insurance, while many gay men have had difficulty getting insured due to pre-existing HIV infection or just the perceived risk of HIV.  Others have been denied coverage under their same-sex partners’ employer plans.

Yeah yeah yeah. yadda yadda and so on. the poor things, turned down as “partners” under someone else’s insurance, because, gosh, the employers aren’t actually required by law to extend insurance coverage to a relationship that isn’t even legal in many parts of the country. So, bad bad. Make sure that whole Rainbow Community goes right to the head of the sign-up line. Poor dears, they’ve been so mistreated for so long.

But to get the word out, to get those certain special folks to sign up ... to get all the sexual deviants to register AS SEXUAL DEVIANTS with the central government [ can anyone else hear 1937 screaming “nein nein nein!!!” except me?? ] ... the O-regime has made a bunch of extra special ads.

Some of them just for the Christmas season.

So here you go. Watch below the fold. And don’t forget to sign up for Obamacare, you widdle sweetlins you! kiss kiss.

h/t to Mrs. Compton

Gorgeous But Wrong

Be A Good Prole: Shut Up And Pay

HHS pro-bamacare video says “Forget about the price tag”

from the White House blog:

Back in August 2013, Young Invincibles, in partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services, launched the Healthy Young America Video Contest, an effort to mobilize young people to help educate and inform one another about the Affordable Care Act. Participants submitted their videos, the public weighed in, and a finalist was selected in each of three categories: “You Are Not Invincible,” original song performance, and animation.

Erin McDonald was announced as the overall Grand Prize winner with her video “Forget about the Price Tag” in a Google+ Hangout featuring Kal Penn and White House Health Care policy expert Christen Linke Young on December 2.

from The Daily Caller:

Without a hint of irony, McDonald sings her chorus: “Ain’t about the, uh, cha-ching cha-ching. Ain’t about the, yeah, bla-bling bla-bling. Affordable Care Act. Don’t worry ’bout the price tag.”

McDonald, of course, is referring to the reasons young people should buy health insurance without worrying “’bout the price tag.”

So just open your wallets and let the government and the health insurance companies take whatever they want. It’s more fair that way. Don’t worry about the price tag, just start paying in. And paying. And paying.

Pretty girl with a nice voice. Pity her message is such an ugly pile of dog shit.

camels in mid east with a new desease …. coming to a country near you?

Well now here’s something else these folks will contribute to the world, and maybe introduce to the west as more of them immigrate.

QATAR

There has been three cases found of something called, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) in a herd of camels.

Two people have come down and are ill after contact with infected animals.

MERS is a Sars related virus and has a fatality rate of near 40% since found only last year.

Oh joy. Something else to look forward to from that part of the world.

Now watch.  They’ll blame guess who?

Oh yeah, in other news briefs of a tiny bit of possible interest.

Guess who has now replaced the USA as the Great Satan?  Oh dear guys. We got knocked off our perch. The world is watching.

The sad French are declared the new Great Satan in Iran replacing America, I have read and heard once on radio.

I think we need to talk to someone in authority in Iran about that.

Or maybe not.

More to Teh Point

No sooner did I post that bit on Obama last night than my wife let me know how far behind the moment I was.

Yes, that was what was said yesterday. But in less than 24 hours ...

... the Republican majority House drew up a bill giving him that 1 year delay that seemed to be what he wanted. And then passed it. Fastest legislation ever!!

The House approved Republican legislation on Friday giving health insurers the option of extending plans through 2014 that would otherwise be canceled for not complying with Affordable Care Act standards.

The bill, approved 261-157, would also allow new customers to enroll in those plans. Thirty-nine Democrats crossed party lines and joined a nearly unanimous GOP caucus in voting for the measure proposed by Rep. Fred Upton, R-Michigan.

So lookie there: the GOP cooperating with El Residente on his signature  fumble  opus, trying to give him what he wanted when push has come to shove and the American people are taking a hurting.

But no.

It has little to no chance of clearing the Democratic-controlled Senate, however.

Say what? Isn’t this what their Lord and Master wanted? Um, no. What HE wanted was the law to be ignored by his say so. HE didn’t want a little Time Out rider added on to it. HE wanted to fix to go in based only his holy word and the televised waving of his magic wand.

The Senate Democrats however, WANT THE MONEY. All this was explained last night to me while I was trying to get us up to bowling league on time, so I was a bit more focused on not hitting the deer and keeping the car on the road. So I’m not 100% here but ...  maybe they’re just being contrary as usual, and will only support a bill that they author?

Not that it matters. Obama has sworn to veto the 1 year extension bill brought forth by the House, even if Harry Reid would even call the bill and the DNC majority Senate passed it. So a fix to make O’s illegal fix a bit legal is dead in the water. And the Dems seem to have 2 quite similar fixes of their own in the works, one of which pretty much seems to obviate Obamacare entirely?

The White House has already threatened to veto the legislation, and there’s certainly no guarantee that Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid would call it to the floor.

But Democrats are separately pursuing two additional pieces of legislation on the Senate side that—if they can convince Reid to consider them—could prove problematic for the president.

Both those bills go further than even the House bill.

One, from Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colo., would allow the old policies to be extended for another two years.

The other, from Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., would effectively allow an indefinite extension of those plans by grandfathering in all plans as late as Dec. 31, 2013.

Landrieu’s plan would make Obama’s promise REAL. “ If you like it you can keep it”, old policy, old amounts of coverage, old (one hopes) cost. And if the Dems hate that one too? Well, it just shows you their true intentions, doesn’t it?

Thank you Obama. Not only have you made a total fool of yourself and your world spanning hubris, you’ve put your political pal’s nuts in the wringer in the Legislature. Thrown them all under the bus. Because that’s what the Magic Negro does.

For a similar look at Obama’s latest ukase (decree from the Tsar, aka a holy decree from Caesar) see Jeff Anderson’s column at the Weekly Standard

… Apparently, the federal lawmaking authority has now moved to the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue.  ...

... By “the old law,” the White House official clearly didn’t mean the law at the time of Obamacare’s passage, because pre-Obamacare law didn’t tell insurers that they would have “to no longer offer” 2013 plans in 2014.  Rather, that’s what Obamacare requires—or, more exactly, what “old” (written, congressionally passed) Obamacare requires.  New Obamacare—which wasn’t passed by Congress but was simply decreed from the White House—now temporarily revokes that mandate (albeit only as it pertains to those who were already enrolled in such plans).

... This latest development offers a stark reminder, however, that Obamacare isn’t only an historic assault on Americans’ liberty, but also on the very notion of government of, by, and for the people.

Well yeah. That’s what the VRWC blogosphere was screaming about years ago. So loud that finally even the GOP heard us. And you (on the Left) weren’t listening.  You still aren’t. You’re only concerned that the Great Plan isn’t working. You still can’t see the tyranny within it.

Do we have standing now?

It’s my understanding that a person has to actually suffer damages before they have standing to sue the Government. Any lawyers out there?

If you’ve lost your employer-provided health insurance, you’ve suffered damages under ObamaCare.

If you’ve been down-graded from full-time to part-time because of ObamaCare, you’ve suffered damages.

If you’ve been denied employment because of ObamaCare, you’ve suffered damages.

Most of the country has standing to sue. Again, I’m not a lawyer, but I think there are several class-action lawsuits possible here.

Abiola Olukemi Apara ….. WTF?  is that a name or a new disease?

Good grief .... is this another sign of National Health or a one off thing?

Abiola Olukemi Apara ?????  Huh? What kinda name is that or is it a disease we need to know about. Sheesh. Gone are the times foreigners with impossible names had the courtesy to Anglicize their names as our grandparents did. And nobody forced them to do it, they just had more brains and consideration for their host country and wanted to fit in.  No such animal as automatic rights.

Sorry but nobody with a name like that should should be hired prior to changing it to Jones or Smith.
I wonder what her English is like.

Take a look.

Nurse ‘treated NHS colleague like a servant by forcing him to mow her lawn and take her to IKEA’

Abiola Apara allegedly made colleague do her chores and drive her around
Accused of refusing to speak to one worker for more than 4 months
Will appear before Nursing and Midwifery Council

By Anna Edwards

A nurse at an under-fire hospital has been accused of using an NHS staff member like her own personal servant - forcing them to drive her to IKEA and fix her leaking tap.

Abiola Olukemi Apara is accused of forcing a colleague at Basildon Hospital in Essex to mow her lawn, drive her to IKEA for a shopping trip, take her car for an MoT and even install a washing machine at her home.

The clinical support worker was also allegedly asked to install new lights, fix a leaking tap and put sealant around a bath at Apara’s home during a period between September 2004 and January 2007.

On Christmas Day 2005, Apara is even alleged to have instructed the same colleague to call in sick for his afternoon shift at the hospital so he could drive her to London and back.

The guy must be a wimp or an illegal or both.
I can’t imagine one of us, that is a white or black Brit or American, would put up with that treatment.  Assuming it’s all true.
Just defies logic someone would allow it.

And btw ...

This hosp. is under the gun due to:
Read on.

A handful of other charges include inappropriately ignoring colleagues for a number of weeks and shouting at staff.

In one instance, believed to have occurred around July 2005, Apara is accused of ignoring a ward sister for five weeks and only communicating with her through notes left in the staff room.

On another occasion in late 2005, Apara is accused of shouting words to the effect of ‘you office now’ at a ward hostess then ignoring her for more than four months after the incident.

In another instance in March 2004 she is accused of ‘inappropriately asking a staff nurse, to provide a reference for her daughter, whom she had never met and did not know.

She is also accused of shouting at the same staff member in front of a patient she was washing

The misconduct charges are set to be heard when Apara appears in front of a Nursing and Midwifery Council panel in London next month.

Apara has since left Basildon Hospital.

The hospital has made national headlines after being slammed by inspectors for persistently high death rates and has since been paired with London’s Royal Free Hospital in a bid to improve standards.

Give us your tired and poor and incompetent. Oh wait, that’s us (USA) these sad days.  But still not so bad as here. Not yet anyway but then I’ve been away so long, how would I know?
I do know this and not saying that the ppl I personally spoke to (tried to that is) were bad folks. They tried to be helpful but every so often I had a hard time making out what they were trying to say. Wasn’t so bad that in the end I was lost.  I did finally understand. But it made me miss home and the desert all the more.

Good grief .... have to see to a leaky roof. Oh great. Got numbers and called and get no phone back. Hard to find someone who isn;t a traveller repair which means ur screwed. Sorry, off topic.

A ‘Must Read’ article…

I seriously urge everybody to just say ‘NO!’ to ObamaCare. Don’t participate. Don’t sign up. Don’t pay any fines or fees. Don’t even file tax returns if they ask about your health insurance.

Here’s that ‘must read’ article.

Did This Happen????

House Defunds ObamaCare

The House voted Friday to keep the government open through mid-December but only if Congress strips funding from ObamaCare.

The vote was 230 to 189, and largely expected.

Current funding for the government is set to expire at the end of the month, and lawmakers must approve the stopgap bill in order to keep Washington open.

The GOP measure would fund the government through Dec. 15, at current funding levels.

“Today, the constitutional conservatives in the House are keeping their word to our constituents and our nation to stand true to our principles, to protect them from the most unpopular law ever passed in the history of the country- ObamaCare- that intrudes on their privacy and our most sacred right as Americans to be left alone,” Rep. John Culberson, R-Texas, said on the House floor.

Or Is It Just More Posturing BS??

The vote sets the stage for a showdown next week in the Democratic-led Senate. Realistically, the chance of the measure surviving a Senate vote is slim to none. One Senate Democrat has already announced the bill dead on arrival and called Friday’s vote a “waste of time.”

“Republicans are simply postponing for a few days the inevitable choice they must face: pass a clean bill to fund the government, or force a shutdown,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said in a statement following the vote. “I have said it before but it seems to bear repeating: the Senate will not pass any bill that defunds or delays Obamacare.”

The Senate is in recess until Tuesday.

At a noon rally on Capitol Hill, House Speaker John Boehner said the House vote speaks to the popularity of the Affordable Care Act – known as ObamaCare.

“You’ve got businesses all over the country who are not hiring because of the impact of this law,” he said. “You’ve got other businesses who are reducing the hours for their employees because of this law. And so, our message to the United States Senate is real simple: the American people don’t want to the government shut down and they don’t want ObamaCare.”

So what does this really mean? Obamacare isn’t actually dead. It isn’t repealed. It’s just defunded. For now? Until Tuesday? Or until next year? Or what?

WTF? WTFF?

Gee, I wonder …

Experts find link between deadly MERS virus and camels

Scientists have found an intriguing clue that suggests camels might somehow be involved in infecting people in the Middle East with the mysterious MERS virus.

Since the virus was first identified last September, there have been 94 illnesses, including 46 deaths, from MERS, or Middle East respiratory syndrome, mostly in Saudi Arabia. Aside from several clusters where the virus has likely spread between people, experts have largely been stumped as to how patients got infected.

In a preliminary study published on Friday, European scientists found traces of antibodies against the MERS virus in dromedary, or one-humped, camels, but not the virus itself. Finding antibodies means the camels were at one point infected with MERS or a similar virus before fighting off the infection.

The antibodies were found in all 50 camel blood samples from Oman, compared to 15 of 105 samples from Spanish camels. Animals from Spain, the Netherlands and Chile were tested for comparison to those from Oman. No MERS antibodies were found in tests done in cows, sheep or goats.

In other news, there’s another job opening for a ladder salesman in Oman.

In a study into what kind of animal “reservoir” may be fueling the outbreak in humans, scientists said they had found strong evidence it is widespread among dromedary camels in the Middle East.

...

“There are different types of contact of humans with these animals that could lead to transmission of a virus.”

Experts not involved in the study hailed its findings as a major step towards solving the mystery of, and ultimately controlling, the MERS virus.

Disco Saves Lives

Save Your Breath

Continuous Compression CPR Works Better

Ok, once every half a dozen blue moons I do a PSA. I’m not under any court order or anything, but I saw a similar post this morning at Rodger’s and figured I’d pass it along. Only better.

The “new” version of CPR, called Continuous Compression CPR, does away with that old school “count ‘em and breath ‘em” that so many of us were taught. No more mouth to mouth contact with strangers, trying to put air in their lungs. No more worries about head positioning or lolling tongues. No, these days it’s just pump pump pump. OK, it’s “Call 911, then pump pump pump”. And the meter for it just happens to be a disco beat. ONE and TWO and THREE and FOUR.

Here’s the quote from the American Heart Association

“We have recommended this approach for bystanders since 1993, after we found in our experimental laboratory that survival was better with Chest-Compression-Only CPR compared to doing nothing until the simulated arrival of paramedics. It is gratifying to see the AHA make this important endorsement as we think it will help save thousands of lives.”

After Sarver Heart Center researcher Karl Kern, in collaboration with resuscitation researchers in the United Kingdom, discovered that the “two quick breaths” standard CPR called for between chest compressions took an average of 16 seconds to complete, laboratory experiments at the Sarver Heart Center revealed that survival was better with Chest-Compression-Only CPR.

In the meantime, several observational studies in humans reported Chest-Compression-Only or Continuous-Chest-Compression CPR produced the same survival as standard CPR. In a previous publication, Ewy noted, “It is interesting that Continuous-Chest-Compression CPR, a technique that has not been advocated or taught and is most often performed by individuals not trained in CPR, results in a survival rate similar to that of our guidelines-advocated approach, on which millions of hours and millions of dollars have been spent in education and advocacy.”

In 2007, the Resuscitation Research Group reported that neurological normal survival was better with Chest-Compression-Only CPR even when compared to the updated guidelines calling for 30 chest compressions between 2 breaths.

“Compression-Only CPR is much simpler to perform than traditional CPR and therefore bystanders are more likely to do it,” Ewy said. “Most importantly, the new recommendations remove the largest obstacle, the requirement for mouth-to-mouth ventilation, commonly called ‘rescue breathing,’ that has kept many bystanders from taking appropriate action.”

And here’s the video, with comedian/doctor Ken Jeong. We saw this at a local firehouse fundraiser dinner a couple months back. They introduced it, but it almost seems like a spoof. It isn’t. This one was made with a group of B List celebrities, so please ... can somebody ID the Rescue Girl on the right? Holy shi* ... she probably causes as many heart attacks as she cures. Wow. Reminds me of Carmen Electra before all the plastic surgery. Yum.

There ya go. Disco can saves lives. And yes, you can get the T-shirt.

Health Care Costs

Well, it’s official. Not that there was any real doubt. Good the blood tests back today ... ta da ... I have Lyme Disease.

Caught it from a tick bite right outside my door on my own back porch, before I had a chance to spray. Sodding little bastige scunner got me good. Crivens.

Well, no surprise; I had all the symptoms, including the dead tick to show people. Alas, nobody wanted to see my dead bug. But I had the unexplained rash, I had the 5” diameter red welt that felt like I was hit with a red hot sledgehammer, I had the severe headache/flu-like symptoms and I was so exhausted I slept for a week. That was 10 days or so ago. I’m on a good strong antibiotic, and I’ve got another 11 days of pills to take. I should be fine. ”Welcome to Hunterdon County.” says the nurse. Gee, thanks.

But while I was there, since I rarely ever go to a doctor, I signed myself up for a physical. Oy. And got some tests for some other things. So, no cancer. No prostate issues. No hepatitis. No thyroid problems. Heart is fine. Elevated cholesterol and I need to lose the beer gut ASAP. And all those years of smoking didn’t do me a bit of good; I’m borderline COPD and that will probably never improve. Much.

So I picked up a whole bag full of prescriptions, and the bill was extreme. Horry Clap, I think I bought a car once for less than the total. But I’ve got a whole collection of nifty inhaler thingies. Hoo. Ray.

This sucks. And now I go on the low chol/low fat/low calorie diet, with added exercise. Until I lose 75lb or so. Good bye pizza, good bye beer, good bye french fries. Oh, this really does suck.

Go to see the eye doctor Friday. Got to find a dentist too. And there’s still that colonoscopy to take, when I find out about what kind of assistance I can get. It can wait, though not forever.

Crap. Getting  old  middle-aged sucks.

Panic Attack!

I’m over it now. I think. Having a major case of chicken-itis.

Just sort of freaked out about going to the GI tomorrow. I sooo don’t want to have a colonoscopy. But if I have to, then I have to. Time to Man Up and   take it in the a  take one for the team. Shit. Or lack of, actually. Crivens. I’m not sure which part is worse, the “cleansing” ahead of things or the how-can-this-not-be-utterly-humiliating expensive procedure itself.

Tomorrow is merely a consultation. Maybe the doctor will tell me I don’t really need this. Yeah, sure.

Gee, some “comic relief”.  Reads like I wrote it myself.  rolleyes

“Houston, we have ignition!”

UPdate

I kept my appointment and had a nice chat with the doctor. I think she was about 17. They’re all so young suddenly! Anyway, this place, an annex to the local hospital, does them in-house and they’re all done under minimal general anesthesia. 20 minutes for the procedure and then up to about an hour waking up and relaxing in the recovery room. They do not use the above Golytely stuff, but a gentler, slower acting cleanser.

It ain’t cheap at all, $2-3000 without insurance, but low income people like myself may qualify for a plan run by the hospital. I could get a near-total discount and only have to pay $100 co-pay. So I’ve got paperwork to fill out, and if I get the nod I can get this nearly for free, plus enormous discounts for all other services at that hospital and the various doctors attached to the annex. It looks like my current income level would put me in the full assistance category, but they have a stepped discount that can help out even if your household/legal income is up to triple the federal poverty line.

A bit of internet research shows that several discount programs exist all over the place. Colonoscopy Assist is striving to become nationwide; so far they are in 32 states and will do the procedure for $950. This is very good. Unfortunately the only place in NJ that currently is part of their network is in Jersey City, and I’d think I might prefer having cancer to going there.

New Jersey also has a FREE program for lower income people, called NJCEED - New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection, and you can qualify even if your income is up to 250% of the federal poverty level ... that’s just under $59,000 for a family of 4. They are not the only state that has a program like this; it is open both to the uninsured and underinsured.

Truly, half my panic about this procedure was the cost. With my less than stellar income, there is simply no way I could manage to drop 3 Large on a “recommended” bit of screening. Learning that several assistance programs are out there that I ought to be able to qualify for is really nice.

So if you are in my boat ... the good ship No Money ... do some internet research and ask questions. Don’t forgo what could be a lifesaving examination just to save money; help is probably out there, a little or a lot. It costs you nothing to find out.

OK, that’s my PSA for today.

Oh joy ... we’re having our daily downpour.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
