Waffle House

Esoteric * Diatribe is starting a Google-bomb campaign. We have been invited to join in. Not being the kind of people who shirk their duty and waffle on the issues, we feel an obligation to participate. We don't want to see the White House become the Waffle House. Henceforth, all references to John Kerry on this website will be presented as Waffles and include the hyperlink.

Limey Attack!

What's up with the Brits these days? First Frank J gets attacked by a foaming-at-the-mouth Limey who obviously stayed out in the noon day sun too long (reference: Mad Dogs And Englishmen). Frank J is about as barking mad as any human can get (in a good way) so the Limey got smeared.

Now, we are under attack here by none other than Charles Darwin. I suspect that is not his real name. I am pretty sure it is Englebert Humperdink writing under his nom de plume. Anyway, old Chuck got a burr up his British butt when we announced the 9/11 Contest, deeming it to be in bad taste. Rather like the 600 years of absolute slavery and cold-blooded genocide that the Brits practiced against the Irish, don'tcha know.

Well, Chucky has a real problem nowadays with anyone criticizing Spain for some reason. In a few recent posts I have taken the Spanish people to task for electing a Socialist government and pulling their troops out of Iraq. Now the Honorable Mr. Darwin has his panties all in a wad over my remarks.

Take a peek at the exchange of pleasantries between myself and Mr. Darwin. Then come back and tell me if I should engage in a battle of wits with The Limey. Admittedly, a battle of wits with him would be rather one-sided since I am a full wit and he is only a half-wit.

If you want to know why I am so ticked off at the Spanish people, it's not because they are spineless cowards. Read this and maybe you'll understand why I'm angry with Spain.

Our Limey is just a minor nuisance at the moment. That could change, however.

Update: The Brit In A Snit Is A Twit. Sam-I-Am! (read the comments for more)

Fat Soldiers

We're gonna have some really fat soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan tomorrow. We just sent the order for 136 slices of pizza (including Pepsi) at $2.95 per slice through GIPizza.com. Our winner in the Memories Of 9/11 contest, Gale, decided to combine her $200 prize with our $200 contribution to the troops.

Total bill: $401.20.

How do we feel after sending this gift to the troops? .... PRICELESS.

And you all should too. We want to thank all the people who entered essays, all those who read them and voted on them and everyone who contributed to this effort. We will have to come up with another idea real soon to give us an excuse to send something to the troops.

Then again, maybe this war will be over soon and we can buy our troops a beer or two down at the local pub. I kinda like that idea. Cheers!

Here is the confirmation from GIPIZZA. If you want to help boost morale in our troops and let them know they are not forgotten, I cannot think of a better way than to send them a small gift like this from home. I know what it is like, having served in the military far from home and loved ones. It is an intensely lonely feeling at times. Add the stress of combat and you have a human being in dire need of a little comfort from home and a reminder that they are appreciated.

Thank you very much for sending Pizza and Pepsi to our wonderful soldiers, fighting terrorism in the Middle East and the Gulf. It is so nice for them to know that there are people like you who are standing behind them.

Once again, on behalf of the soldiers, thank you for your support.

Regards,

Daniel

P.S. Please note that your credit card statement will show a charge for this by MARKSMAN. Thank you.

The KOS Files

For those of you who missed it, here is the timeline:

1- Markos Zuniga, on his blog site (The Daily KOS) recently made some extremely disgusting remarks about the contractors who were murdered and mutilated in Fallujah. Daily KOS is one of the Left's leading blog sites and touted by Progressives and Democrats as their leading blog. Zuniga made the statement that the contractors "were merceneraries" and "got what they deserved" and that he "felt no regret at their death". Believe it or not, Zuniga is an American blogger with strong support from the Democratic Party. Correction: make that past tense. Read on.

2- The blogosphere (including the good guys at this blog) reacted to the remarks with almost universal condemnation of Zuniga and his remarks.

3- Traffic to Daily KOS was so high at one point that Daily KOS moved into the top spot, ahead of Instapundit.

4- Zuniga lashed out at Instapundit, claiming Instapundit had mounted a conspiracy against him, to which Instapundit responded "Indeed?"

5- Zuniga pulled the post and tried to issue an apology but it came out sounding almost as bad as the original distasteful post. The Politburo Diktat did a royal fisking on the apology.

6- Advertisers on Daily KOS started dropping their ads (which included several Democratic candidates and environmentalist groups).

7- And now, LGF reports that John "F'ing" Kerry's official web site has de-linked Daily KOS.

8- The Kerry Campaign's official announcement is here. Along with reactions by some really pissed off Democratic supporters who are accusing Kerry of [sic] "sensorship".

9- The Daily KOS blog site is currently down and off the air. No message. No explanation. Nothing. Zuniga has wiped out all traces of his blog site, including in Google's caches. He is not replying to any e-mails.

The Loony Left is continuing to self-destruct. We'll keep you updated.

Update (12:45 EDT): KOS is back up and on-line. He says they were having server difficulties. Go say hello.

Memories Of 9/11

As all of you are aware by now, the "Memories Of 9/11 Contest" was a great success. By that I mean you all were wonderful in helping us dig back into that painful day and pause to reflect on what happened and how we felt. It still hurts, doesn't it? I know, from a personal standpoint, it still hurts me greatly. I am still, three years later, trying to come to grips with the scope of the tragedy and the sudden loss of over three thousand fellow citizens. These were innocent men and women who had done nothing to deserve the brutal deaths they received. And they all left behind thousands of family members whose sorrow is unending.

I have read all of the submitted essays countlesss times and every time I read them a tear comes into my eye. Not for the loss of life, although that is a large part of it, but more importantly for the change in attitude I see in this country and around the world since then. Our so-called allies and friends overseas, who grieved with us on that day, eventually turned against us in the interests of their own political agendas and, in some cases, out of pure commercial greed. In addition, Americans who were standing solidly together on that day are now spitting and fighting with one another over petty issues. Finger pointing has re-entered our national psyche and angry political divisiveness is threatening to split our country apart again. That is why I am sad.

Vilmar and I have tabulated the votes in the contest and we have a winning essay (actually they were all winners in my book). The winner of the essay contest will be announced tomorrow morning and I am building a special tribute page with all of the wonderful essays. We thank all of you who submitted essays. America thanks you.

Stand tall and stand proud, America. For one brief shining moment we were all on the same team. Let us not wait until more innocent lives are lost before we regain that unity. I leave you tonight with my own pitiful attempt at poetry. God bless you all and God Bless America.

Lights

A long time ago
in a country far away
A city of lights sprang up
turning nightime into day.

Freedom was the beacon
to guide them on their way.
The lights glowed in the darkness
until that fateful day.

What happened to these
who pushed back the night?
Are they gone forever,
has wrong defeated right?

Only time will tell
if they have lost the sight.
Of Freedom's glorious goals
and Liberty's precious light.

The Rain In Spain

It appears that caving in to the terrorists' demands doesn't work. More bombs in Spain have killed 4 and wounded 11 Spanish policemen, even after Spain elected a new government which announced it would withdraw troops from Iraq and stop supporting the war against terror.

Do you still think appeasement will work?

Jihad Against Moonbat Advertisers

In a recent post here, we made note of The Daily KOS's reaction to the brutal murders in Fallujah. That Leftist blog was actually gloating over the deaths and the liberal commenters were even worse.

Well, it apears the blogosphere has reacted. Everyone, including Instapundit, Emperor Misha, Little Green Footballs and several other noteable blog sites expressed outrage over the Left's behavior. KOS quickly removed the post and posted a (sort of) apology) that was almost as bad as the original post.

Now, one blog site, Fried Man, has launched a campaign against KOS and his advertisers, which include several Democratic candidates and environmental groups. If you think KOS crossed the line (and we do), go sign up and send your thoughts to KOS and his advertisers.

Bad taste and insanity should never be rewarded. Even if it comes from one of the leading Democratic blog sites. Especially if it comes from one of the leading Democratic blog sites.

In the blogoshpere anyone can say what they want but you have to be prepared to take the consequences if you cross the line.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: It's no coincidence that the First Amendment, guaranteeing freedom of speech was quickly followed by the Second Amendment, guaranteeing you and me the right to shoot the loud-mouthed SOB who exercised his First Amendment rights in a bad manner.

Outsourcing Gets Weird

C|Net is reporting that since companies in the US started outsourcing technology jobs to India, pay rates in that country have increased by double digits, driving up salaries by as much as 14 percent. Indian technology workers are still being paid significantly less than American technology workers but in terms of average salaries in India it is creating a wage bubble similar to that seen in the US technology industry in the 1990's.

The irony of the situation is that now technology companies in India are beginning to outsource jobs to China where wages are cheaper. Global outsourcing will eventually level the playing field everywhere .... except for the Middle East, which persists in living the the Dark Ages.

Presents for Fallujahns!

Hmmm, I thought I was radical but I now have to give that position to Tammy Bruce

She's one pissed off lady who thinks our General Kimmitt is a wimp unfit for command for having hesitated to go into Fallujah and raze it to the ground. She equates what is going on there to the repressive regimes which had strangleholds on Germany and Japan. She points out that only after we annihilated their cities were we able to achieve an end to the war.

As I often say, these people understand only one thing: brutal violence. Any attempts to make "nice" with them is considered a sign of weakness.

So what are we waiting for? Hey!! Everybody in Fallujah! Uncle Sam has presents for you!! What are they, you ask?

"Daisy cutters" for everyone!!!

The hip-hop prez wannabe

I'm sure by now many of you have either read or heard this little piece of oh-so-important reporting: John F***ing Kerry likes hip hop.

I don't know about you but as far as I am concerned hip hop has got to be the lamest excuse for music on the planet. It's supposed to be descriptive of the life and struggles of those living in the 'hood. PUH-LEAZE! That crap and shove it.

Well, Old Shit-For-brains Kerry may SAY he likes hip hop but here's a question for some intrepid reporter to ask him: "Senator sKerry, you say you like hip-hop. Can you tell us how many LPs or CDs you have by hip hop artists? Can you also give us the names of three hip hop bands and their latest hits? Maybe hum a few bars of your favorite songs?"

Yeah, right! Don't hold your breath waiting or that to happen.

Yet in classic flip-flop waffling fashion, when commenting on lyrics dealing with killing cops he says he's bothered by it. So here he goes, in a classic case of flip-flopping right along, saying that he thinks those cop killing feelings sung about by hip hop artists are inappropriate occasionally. Occasionally?

And this is the asshole so many Americans want to be the next president?

Can a leopard change its spots?

Apparently not when it comes to John F***ing Kerry.

But before we get into that, I must first confess to suffering from some form of adult ADD. At least that's the best diagnosis of an existing and named disorder with which I can associate my behaviors. You see, whereas I am capable of completing all self assigned (or otherwise) projects, I execute tem in a haphazard manner, flitting from one to another, never really spending a great deal of time on any. My mind works in much the same way which results in an inability to write long missives like my friend, Allan. Going in a thousand directions at a million miles an hour all I can do is gather little snippets here and there, never quite able to place my finger on the pulse of what I want to say.

Then I read articles like this one from David Limbaugh (yes, Rush's brother) and I go, "damn! that's right! That exactly what I was thinking about."

So, on to the article. Mr. Limbaugh equates Lurch's protest actions during Vietnam and his accusations against fellow soldiers as those of a person providing aid and comfort to the enemy much like if we'd had had this sort of bullshit during WW II, there is no telling how much propaganda value the Krauts and Nips would have derived from it. Somehow the people back then had more character. And if they did not, there were those around who teach it to them with a 2x4.

So what do we have today? The same kind of sKerry we had in 1971. He's never denounced his actions. He's never proclaimed his accusations to be false. He never turned in his buddies for plotting to kill senators. So how is he different today? And if elected president, we can only assume the actions of 33 years ago will repeat themselves except this time this asshiole will be in charge of our military, telling them to kiss UN and French ass.

Limbaugh ends with a great quote, too:
the John Kerry of today is the John Kerry of 1971, who has no more business steering this ship of state than Jane Fonda.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
