Linux Is Good

This is going to take longer than I thought. The main WinXP system is still down, awaiting the CPU cooler fan, which was back-ordered. I figured while I was waiting I would go ahead and upgrade the CPU. I just ordered a 3.4 Giggle-Hurtz Pentium 4. I probably won't be back up on the normal computer until the end of next week.

In the meantime, I've been looking at blogging tools for Linux. I've switched over to the Red Hat Linux Enterprise Server box here, which is my normal file server, mail server and database server for the home network.

With Sun's StarOffice, Evolution E-Mail, Mozilla and a wealth of other really cool apps on Linux I'll be OK, if not better off. I've just installed MozBlog to enable me to keep blogging in the meanwhile. The only problem I have is not being able to get to all my documents on the WinXP box's hard drives. They'll keep for now.

And the next person who says I shoulda got a Mac will get hit with a water-ballon attack by my faithful Ninja Bat bomb squadron.

From the “I couldn’t have said it better” pile

I hope Neal Boortz doesn't get pissed off at me but I had to lift this in its entirety from his site as it will not be threre tomorrow at the Neal's Nuze Page current address.

So if you go today you will see it. If not it will be archived. Therefore I filched it. .

Read this and tell me (once again) if there is bias in the way the media presents the news to us?

CHRISTOPHER "TRENT" DODD

This isn't exactly making the ABC, CNN, NBC, or CBS newscasts, so let me share something with you that happened on the floor of the U.S. Senate about five days ago. West Virginia Democrat Robert Byrd, "The Lion of the Senate", cast his 17,000th vote. Senators just love honoring each other whenever an excuse arises, and this vote was no exception. Senators rose to sing the praises of Robert Byrd.

When it came time for Connecticut Senator Christopher Dodd to speak he pulled out all the stops. To hear Dodd tell it, Robert Byrd was Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln wrapped up in one U.S. Senator.

Byrd is a "man for all seasons." He said that Byrd would have been right during the formation of this country, and that he would have been "right during the great conflict of civil war in this nation." Dodd went on to say that he couldn't think of a time in the history of this nation when Robert Byrd wouldn't have been right for the country.

OK, let's review. Byrd was a member of the Ku Klux Klan. Following World War II Robert Byrd wrote of his hopes for a rebirth of the Klan in his home state of West Virginia. In 1964 Byrd participated with fellow Democrats in an effort to filibuster the Civil Rights Act. Three years ago Byrd used the "N" word repeatedly in a Fox News interview. A former KKK member filibustering the Civil Rights Act. Was this a time when Robert Byrd was "right" for America?

Do you remember a year or so ago when another U.S. Senator was delivering similar praise for another Senate war horse? In case your attention span is running rather short right now, we're talking about Senator Trent Lott and his speech at a birthday celebration for Strom Thurmond. Lott said that if America had followed Strom Thurmond years ago we wouldn't be in this mess we're in right now. Dodd said that Byrd, a KKK member, would have been "right" during the civil war, a war viewed by most as a war to free the slaves.

Now just how long did it take after Lott's comments about Thurmond for all hell to break loose. Two days, thanks for asking. How long has it been now since Christopher Dodd's remarks about Strom Thurmond? Five days. Has there been any outrage expressed over Dodd's remarks? None. So why not? Why isn't Senator Chris Dodd taking heat for saying that a former KKK member would have been a dandy leader around the time of the Civil War?

Oh come on now. You know the answer, don't you? Don't play dumb with me. Trent Lott is a conservative Republican, and he's from the South. Chris Dodd is a liberal Democrat, a good pal of Ted Kennedy, and he's from the North. He's from the center of the Washington - New York - Boston liberal stronghold.

It's all very simple. If the Democrats call for a war of words and images against Trent Lott the liberal media is more than happy to oblige. If the Republicans call for a similar reaction against Chris Dodd for his remarks, the media will react with silence.

And we're told there is no liberal bias in the mainstream media. Sure.

The hypocrisy of the Holly-weirdos

I just found this piece about how Hollywood is weaving more and more comments/opinions in its prime time shows against President Bush.

Now, how many squeals of anguish would we hear if Hollywood was run by conservatives and we were to have tried this during the Clinton administration? The collective howls would deafen you.

But here they are, fruits, nuts, and flakes all of them, constantly lambasting the president. You've got to wonder where the line must be drawn between artistic expression and outright political speech considered to be an endorsement or paid political advertising. When shows start doing live political commentary disguised as fiction, what effect will that have on the constituency? Where's McCain Feingold when you need them?

And, of course, the Holly-weirdoes see nothing at all wrong with any of this. One was even quoted as saying "his show was trying to spark debate and entertain while presenting both sides."

Where was this moonbat ass-bite when Clinton was sticking cigars into Lewinsky? Did they try that little move in Sex and the City? Where was he when Clinton was found guilty of perjury? Did they do several episodes on Law and Order? Where was he when Clinton was disbarred? See anything on West Wing about that?

And you STILL think there is no bias in the media?

Snack food for your brain

Where to begin to highlight the bullshit that passes for news?

Number 1: Well, well, here we have Ted Kennedy, the porky jowl-faced Senator from Taxachusetts, going on a tirade against President Bush, calling him a liar. He goes on to say, "truth is the first casualty of policy."

Funny, but truth was not on Kennedy's mind after he drove Mary Jo off that bridge so many years ago.

Number 2: (appropriately named as the individual concerned IS a piece of shit) centers on Hans Blix (piece of shit) actually came out and said Iraq would be better off with Saddam still in power!

Is there something seriously wrong with me or is it everyone else who's screwed up? How can ANYONE make such a comment? If you believe what he says then you sanction Saddam's massacring of hundreds of thousands of his own people all the while permitting and funding terrorism around the world. THAT'S supposed to be better? A true fuck-wit and if you believe what he says, you are, too!

Number 3: and hot on the heels of number 2 (but just as foul and smelly) we have this little jewel from President Clinton. He actually writes an op-ed piece in the Washington Post lamenting his administration's inaction in the massacre of over 800,000 Rwandans. They KNEW what was going on but did nothing. The international community did nothing. The United Nations (SPIT!! SPIT!!) did nothing. People were corralled into refugee camps and slaughtered. (For an East African perspective, read this.) But we had to rush into the Kosovo mess to "rescue" Muslims (what, wow gratitude we got for that!) and read my post yesterday about how those that murdered Muslims get punished by the UN.
Clinton actually said this: "We need to improve our intelligence-gathering capabilities, increase the speed with which international intervention can be undertaken and muster the global political will required to respond to the threat of genocide wherever it may occur."

Great things to spout Mr. Cum-Stained Dress, Convicted Perjurer Disbarred For Your Actions ex-President. So why is it almost all of you've been engaged in since you left office has been to thwart President Bush? It was YOUR administration that did nothing about bin Laden. It was YOUR administration that suffered intelligence failures. It was YOUR final policy paper on national security (all 45,000 words--what's that, about 220 double spaced pages?) that never ONCE mentioned al Qaeda and rarely mentioned bin Laden as a terror force that needed to be dealt with. I guess Richard Clarke's purported NUMEROUS WARNINGS meant nothing to you or your administration.

Or can it be you are still pursuing some sort of legacy and in the process are cutting the legs out from under your own party by going directly against what Kerry proposes: only take action if the UN agrees. With that logic (very Blix-like) Rwandans would still be killing one another and Saddam's torture and rape rooms would be operating 24-7.

In either case, we'll take your back-handed support but still call you a piece of shit conniver and liar. You'd sell your own mother out for your legacy wouldn't you? Probably sell your own daughter into prostitution if it would help.

So, to recap, let's put what Clinton said and what Blix said in perspective. Clinton has, in typical Clintonian fashion, come out in support of President Bush's policies. Maybe we won't find WMDs but the elimination of a sadistic and brutal murderer is the right thing to do. But if you listen to Blubbering Blix and applying his logic as it regards this administration's actions, you'd come to the conclusion that the Rwandan massacres were OK and justified no intervention by anyone.

So I ask again....is it just me or do these assclown moonbats know what the hell they are talking about? Or is it as I suspect, a dog-eat-dog situation and these shitbirds are positioning themselves for when the chickens come home to roost?

The Agony & The Ecstacy

The time has come to say goodbye. Or rather, au revoir. The latter translates as "until we meet again". I will be off the air and off the radar screen for several days. It will be up to Vilmar to carry the water, probably until Sunday - at which time I hope to make an appearance back here, leaner and meaner than ever.

I will be out having surgery done.

Not me. My confuser. The big guy finally bit the dust. My main conputer, that is. It's a Windows XP Pro monster box and the motherboard has been flaking for several weeks now. First, the sloppy drive went out and yesterday the onboard LAN adapter went KER-CHUNK (that's a technical term meaning it refuses to talk to the internet).

I am writing this on my laptop, sitting in the living room watching Fox News. Yesterday, I ordered a new motherboard and had it shipped next-day air. It arrived while I was at work today and I just picked it up. I will probably put BEAST (as I call him) in surgery later tonight. I need to copy everything off the boot disk to one of the other six drives in the system (800 GB total). I've decided to wipe the boot disk and start clean. I recommend doing that every few years anyway. It helps clean out the HDD (hard-drive-dandruff) that collects.

I'm replacing a two-year-old Gigabyte (Taiwan) motherboad. The new motherboard is the Intel D875PBZ (USA - yes, actually manufactured here - it says so on the board).

I have nearly 100 GB of STUFF (another technical term meaning stupid e-mails for viagra and letters to my blasted attorney as well as my ENTIRE LIFE in documentation). That will take a while.

I also have a really cool CPU heat sink and fan to install (from AeroCool, with gold plating and two fans - only 2004 were made). Then begins the tedious task of re-installing all of my software. I'm looking at the CD rack on top of my desk and I can easily count 80 CD's and DVD's - and that's just the start. Everything from Microsoft Office 2003 to Norton SystemWorks 2004 to Encyclopedia Britannica 2004 to Quicken Deluxe 2004 to .............. arrrgh.

Anyway, I'll see all you guys and gals "on the other side" provided the patient survives my brain surgery on him. Wish me luck.

Vilmar, you have the conn. Hold her steady, warp nine. And blast the bejeesus out of any Moonbat's you see.

Nurse, you may go ahead and start applying the anesthesia ..................... 100-99-98-97-96 ....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ....

You gotta read this!!!

You have to read this. Allan and I both are proponents of lard, pigs, bacon, etc. in the fight against Islamic terrorists. Hey, it's their religion that states ANY contact with a pig will bar them from the gates of heavens and their 72 virgin goats.

I am proud to say the Israeli government is finally listening to us. And here you thought we were a couple of geeky bloggers with nothing better to do in our lives.

Well, you can add: "INTERNATIONAL SECURITY CONSULTANTS" to that list of skills we possess.

This is a hoot. Really. And it is true. Read it.

Now!

P.S. Sorry, but "contact with a pig bars you from heaven?" No wonder these people are so fucked up.

The effectiveness of the United nations

You want to see just how effective the United Nations and its war crimes tribunal is just read this.

"The sentence should reflect all of the cruelty embodied in Darko Mrdja's participation in the killing and the shooting"

So what does Mrjda get as a sentence for killing over 200 Muslim men?

Go on. Guess.

Give up?

17 years! That's about a month for each murder. For fuck's sake, people get almost that much for abusing pets in this country!!! And this son of a bitch MURDERED over 200 people.

Remember, this is the organization touted by John F***ing Kerry as one tat we need to consult and get approval from before we take any action on anything, anywhere!!!!

Intelligence failures?

A little late (but better so than never) I offer this brilliant piece by Daniel Henninger of the Wall St. Journal.

He astutely points out the difficulties in getting our intelligence communities to take any sort of action (better still, to convince anyone ELSE to take action) based on what they've uncovered or suspect simply because they are bureaucracies layered into the fabric of our government. The CIA (or NSA or FBI) may have had credible evidence to suspect something was going on but considering the hoops they'd have to jump through, we should not be amazed our government did not act. Each agency has its M.O. and evaluates their findings within the framework of their organization (which does not necessarily meld well with other organizations) so that also complicates matters.

I could not have made these points any better:
In a world in which the know-how to produce missile delivery systems and nuclear and biological weapons will soon be commoditized, you should want your bureaucratic warriors to be on a war-like footing. Assuming that they always are is foolish. Like the Supreme Court, bureaucracies follow the election returns. Their attention can revert to the norm.

This is not an argument against dissent and disagreement. It is an argument that George Bush's declaration of war on terror, including Iraq, is more right than it is wrong. The more we step down from that war, the closer we and our bureaucracies will return to the vulnerabilities that led to September 11.

And come to think of it even if Clinton or Bush had known there were plans to attack us with airplanes, exactly what could they have done? Not much, really, because if you think about it, as soon as we took anyone into custody the Muslim community and the ACLU would be screaming bloody murder for starters. That does not even address the fact we did not have dates much less names. All we had was circumstantial evidence. Look at all the cries of indignation surrounding the Sami al Arian case here in Florida. Imagine if we'd taking several Arabs into custody. Saudi Arabia would be threatening oil embargos!!

Until we were attacked, we did not have a national policy of "PRE-EMPTION" Any action we took would have seriously hampered our ability to do anything on the international scene. Even attempting to change our defensive policies to one of preemption would have earned us scorn given that there was no "evidence" of attack. However, after 9-11 we turned things around and declared we will now take preemptive action if we believe we have credible evidence and whereas the world will still be pissed off, they won't stay so given the recent attacks on Spain. I believe other nations are seeing the light of the wisdom in preemptive action.

Lest we also forget, public opinion, inflamed by media interference and the pursuit of a "story" even if they have to make it up along the way, would have hamstrung any administration's ability to do something, anything.

A classic case of "damned if you do and damned if you don't."

Muslims are chickens**t cowards!!!!!

To show just what kind of men the Muslim terrorists are, check this out. We find out Muqtada al-Sadr, the guy responsible for inciting most of the violence against the Americans in Fallujah, is HIDING in a mosque.

What a chickenshit, pansy-assed, lily-livered, spineless girly-boy fuck! These are MEN? I've known little girls with more courage of their convictions than this waste of protoplasm.

Only cowards act like this.

But then again, it goes to show the mentality of the vermin we are dealing with. They use the Koran to defend their right to lie to infidels as much as necessary (all the while claiming to be sincere and telling the truth while agreeing to do certain things they absolutely have no intention of ever doing) and when we let our guard down they kill us.

Hiding in a mosque is like using women and children as shields. Only cowards and other despicable life forms fit only for complete and total annihilation do this sort of thing.

Of course, we can't take out tat mosque but that is exactly what we should do. Take the battle to these scumbags. Let them know there is NO place to hide. If they use holy places to hide from their heinous actions, we will raze those holy places. Any that does not like it, we kill. Period. End of story.

And the sooner we do this the better.

The sounds of siilence

Notice there is no outcry demanding Muslim organizations denounce the brutal murders and violent mutilations of the Americans in Fallujah? What about CAIR, the largest Islamic civil liberties group? You'd at least think THEY'D say something to encourage others to denounce these heinous actions? Well, it's easy to figure out why they are so silent. Read read Joel Mowbry's piece in FrontPage.com about "America's largest Islamic civil liberties group." As a teaser and to show how unbiased they are, try this on or size:

CAIR couldn’t bring itself to call the founder of one of the bloodiest terrorist organizations on earth even a “militant,” let alone a “terrorist.” To them, a man with the blood of over 400 people on his hands was a handicapped “religious leader.” CAIR couldn’t bring itself to call the founder of one of the bloodiest terrorist organizations on earth even a “militant,” let alone a “terrorist.” To them, a man with the blood of over 400 people on his hands was a handicapped “religious leader.”

I wonder why that is? Hmmmm?!?!?!

Anyone still believe that tripe about Islam being a religion of peace? If so, please email me as I have some oceanfront property in Phoenix, Arizona I want to sell you. Meanwhile we should seriously consider dumping about 1,000,000 pigs in Fallujah wired with internal plastique and from a safe distance we hit the remote. Then sit back and watch the fun and festivities!!!

Daylight Saving Mess

If you think you have problems with Daylight Saving Time and all this "spring forward, fall back" nonsense", consider this: in the state I live in there are three time zones .... kinda. Several western counties are on Central time and spring forward an hour and several eastern counties are on Eastern time and spring forward an hour. The majority of the state is on Eastern time and doesn't spring forward. Got all that? What it means is that where I live we are on Eastern Standard Time all year round while everybody around us springs and falls all over themselves, so we flip-flop between being in sync with the eastern counties during the winter and being in sync with the western counties during summer. Bottom line: my TV schedule is all messed up - last week, the local news came on at 6:00 and now it comes on at 5:00 because although we're on Eastern Standard Time, we're actually on Central Daylight Saving Time. Or something.

I'm going back to bed. I have an extra hour to sleep. ZZzzzzzzzzzzzz ......

Update: yes, this is Indiana. What a mess!

The hip-hop flip-flopper

Leave it to Mark Steyn to hit the nail on the head while excoriating sKerry for his position on hip-hop.

Not only do we get treated to some good word play, we also get reminded about how the leftists in this country are constantly yelling, BUSH LIED!" yet no one seems to question Mr. Kerry for supporting the Kyoto Treaty yet voting against it. Isn't THAT lying?

But let's move on.

As I blogged several days ago, how come Kerry's never been asked to list a favorite hip-hop artist or name any of their songs. Better yet, anyone really think Teresa would allow that shit in their house? I can see it now (and this is an ugly picture): Kerry pops a hip-hop CD in his New Age Victrola and romps around the living room lurching (no pun intended) to the beat, his head bobbing out of time to the music and nearly toppling him over as he fights to control its top-heavy instability, his feet stomping arrhythmically all the while snapping his fingers to some Vietnam vet, brain flashback of an Arlo Guthrie song from his "four month war" days, and his botoxed lips puckering like a fish out of water as he mouths lyrics.

Damn, that's a depressing vision!

Mark then goes on to compare answers to similar questions posed to George Bush and Margaret Thatcher, two people secure in who they are and not needing to pretend to be hip or cool or "with it."

The piece de resistance (hey, Lurch says he's French so I can't help it) comes at the end:

After coming out for hip-hop, he managed to blame the Bush administration's ''behavior'' for making terrorists become terrorists. I guess that terrorism's just a ''reflection of the street,'' too. Doubtless there's ''a lot of anger, a lot of social energy in it.'' The MTV crowd loved the line, and no doubt Jacques Chirac and the Arab League will as well. Welcome to John Kerry's hip-hop foreign policy: Ask the multilateral gang what's hip, and hop to it.

Thank You, America

I have heard from almost all of the fine people who entered essays in the Memories Of 9/11 Essay Contest. They have all been amazed at the pictures I picked to go with their essays. It was easy. I read each one over and over again and tried to see what they saw. I know what I saw and how I felt but I wanted to put myself in their shoes. These are all some of the finest people in the world. We Americans have nothing to be ashamed of. This country is just as great today as it was in 1776. We have differing opinions about many things but we all agree on one thing: we are better than anything that would seek to destroy us. We are America.

Read their stories here.

Good night, America. I love you all. God bless.
