Man Killed With Fork

A Green Bay, Wis., man is charged with killing his neighbor with a fork, according to police.

Investigators said Gordon Senecal was taking care of Todd Charles’ 15-year-old pit bull over the weekend when an argument broke out between the two men.

The men began fighting at Charles’ home and Senecal was stabbed with a large serving fork, police said.

Senecal was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Charles is expected in court Monday for his first appearance.

Crack Shot

Today’s most ridiculous news item is courtesy of Boston, Mass. where a party at the YMCA degenerated into a shootout. One “victim” had surgery to remove a bullet from his groin and police made an amazing discovery during the surgery ....

Five People Injured as Bullets Fly in Hub
(BOSTON HERALD)

Three teens who claimed to have ``just left’’ a YMCA party were among five people shot in several apparently unconnected rounds of late-night gunplay on city streets. None of the injuries was fatal. The bloodshed spanned less than three hours between late Saturday night and early yesterday morning. At 1 a.m. yesterday at DeGauthier Way and Shabbaz Way, just outside Dudley Square, police found a 16-year-old Dorchester male face down with a gunshot wound to the neck.

Two 18-year-olds he’d been walking with after allegedly attending a bash at the YMCA on Huntington Avenue were also shot by an unknown gunman – one, from Dorchester, in the wrist and the other, from Roxbury, in the head. Police had no reports of trouble at the YMCA. Y officials refused to comment.

A 27-year-old Roxbury man shot multiple times outside 10 Castlegate Road, Dorchester, shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Saturday was also expected to survive. It wasn’t just bullets doctors were extracting: A 22-year-old man shot in the groin during an argument at M&M’s Jazz Club in Grove Hall at 2:12 a.m. yesterday had 17 bags of crack cocaine concealed in his buttocks, said police, who added insult to injury by slapping him with drug charges.

And a bullet, but no victim, was recovered from 17 Bickford St., Jamaica Plain, where police went yesterday at 12:30 a.m. on a report of shots fired. Three people were arrested, including one who tore a side mirror off a cop’s cruiser.

Only In America

This story will not help stop the flow of illegal immigrants into this country one bit. Come to America, buy a lottery ticket, get rich! At least this fellow came in the right way. Congratulations, Moses. Spend it wisely ....

Man Takes Citizenship Oath, Wins Lottery
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP)

A man who immigrated from Kenya to the United States found prosperity beyond his expectations on the day he became a U.S. citizen. Shortly after Moses Bittok, of West Des Moines, took the oath of citizenship on Friday, he discovered he had a $1.89 million winning ticket from the Iowa Lottery’s Hot Lotto game.

“It’s almost like you adopted a country and then they netted you $1.8 million,” Bittok said Monday as he cashed in his ticket. “It doesn’t happen anywhere—I guess only in America.” Bittok said he took the citizenship oath at the federal building in Des Moines Friday then went shopping with his family. They stopped at a gas station to check his lottery ticket from the Sept. 21 drawing.

“For some reason, I’m calm,” he said. His wife, Leonida, screamed. Bittok, 40, an officer at the Iowa Correctional Institute for Women in Mitchellville, said he doesn’t know exactly what he will do with his winnings, but a college fund for the couples 4-year-old daughter, Mindy, is top priority. Bittok chose to receive his winnings in 25 annual payments of about $52,920 after taxes.

He came to the U.S. to attend college in Minnesota, then moved to Iowa to take the job at the women’s prison. He had purchased the winning ticket at a West Des Moines grocery store, where he once worked part time. Hot Lotto tickets are sold in Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, South Dakota and West Virginia.

Fifteen Minutes

I’m sorry but Cindy Sheehan has become a self-parody. A ridiculous joke that started out as an anti-war protest and has degenerated into self-aggrandizement, public relations, propaganda and sophomoric antics. Smiling for the cameras as she was taken away, the lady clearly is having way too much fun with all this publicity. Why is she doing this? What makes her think that turning tail and running out of Iraq will somehow glorify her son’s memory? What does she hope to accomplish with all this? Will any of it bring her son back to life? Will her protests actually remove President Bush from office? The answer to all of this is ... no, none and nothing. She can hope to achieve absolutely nothing from making an ass out of herself except to make clear to the American people what a useless media sock-puppet she has become for the radical Left in this country. She is being used .. plain and simple. Yet she is having the time of her life, as evidenced by the ear-to-ear grin below.

Whether they realize it or not, Sheehan and her “friends” in the crowd in DC are part of an overall manipulation of the American media by two groups of people: (1) the radical Left in this country who hate George Bush with a vitriolic passion, and (2) the radical Islamofascists who would kill us and who stand to profit handsomely in their ongoing Jihad against Western civilization by facing a divided enemy, namely us. The enemy within and the enemy without. Both are dependent on publicity from the media and both are bent on destroying thousands of years of civilization. Ms. Sheehan and her friends give aid and comfort to Osama bin Laden and his murderous thugs. I’m sure they appreciate the help and will spare Ms. Sheehan when they make their next attack on us. Then again, I could be wrong ....

imageimageSheehan Arrested During Anti-War Protest
WASHINGTON (AP)

Cindy Sheehan, the California woman who became a leader of the anti- war movement following her son’s death in Iraq, was arrested Monday along with dozens of others protesting outside the White House. Sheehan, carrying a photo of her son in his Army uniform, was among hundreds of protesters who marched around the White House and then down the two-block pedestrian walkway on Pennsylvania Avenue. When they reached the front of the White House, dozens sat down _ knowing they would be arrested _ and began singing and chanting “Stop the war now!”

Police warned them three times that they were breaking the law by failing to move along, then began making arrests. One man climbed over the White House fence and was quickly subdued by Secret Service agents. Sheehan, 48, was the first taken into custody. She smiled as she was carried to the curb, then stood up and walked to a police vehicle while protesters chanted, “The whole world is watching.” About 50 people were arrested in the first hour, with dozens of others waiting to be taken away. All cooperated with police.

Sgt. Scott Fear, spokesman for the U.S. Park Police, said they would be charged with demonstrating without a permit, which is a misdemeanor. Park Police Sgt. L.J. McNally said Sheehan and the others would be taken to a processing center where they would be fingerprinted and photographed, then given a ticket and released. The process would take several hours, he said. Sheehan’s 24-year-old son, Casey, was killed in an ambush in Sadr City, Iraq, last year. She attracted worldwide attention last month with her 26-day vigil outside President Bush’s Texas ranch.

The demonstration is part of a broader anti-war effort on Capitol Hill organized by United for Peace and Justice, an umbrella group. Representatives from anti-war groups were meeting Monday with members of Congress to urge them to work to end the war and bring home the troops. White House press secretary Scott McClellan said Bush is “very much aware” of the protesters and “recognizes that there are differences of opinion” on Iraq. “It’s the right of the American people to peacefully express their views. And that’s what you’re seeing here in Washington, D.C.,” McClellan said. “They’re well-intentioned, but the president strongly believes that withdrawing ... would make us less safe and make the world more dangerous.”

Agent 86 has left the building

ABC News

Don Adams of ‘Get Smart’ Dies at 82

LOS ANGELES Sep 26, 2005 — Don Adams, the wry-voiced comedian who starred as the fumbling secret agent Maxwell Smart in the 1960s television spoof of James Bond movies, “Get Smart,” has died. He was 82.

Adams died of a lung infection late Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, his friend and former agent Bruce Tufeld said Monday, adding the actor broke his hip a year ago and had been in ill health since.

As the inept Agent 86 of the super-secret federal agency Control, Adams captured TV viewers with his antics in combatting the evil agents of Kaos. When his explanations failed to convince the villains or his boss, he tried another tack: “Would you believe … ?” It became a national catchphrase.

Real Atmosphere Of Fear

Dan Rather recently gave a speech to broadcasters wherein he described a ”climate of fear” in newsrooms across the country. The Blathering Boob said reporters are being pressured by politicians and the news is suffering ....

Dan Rather Complains of ‘Climate of Fear’
(NEWSMAX)

Former CBS anchor Dan Rather said there is a “climate of fear” in newsrooms that is worse than he’s ever seen in his four-decade career. Rather declared that in the years since the then-White House correspondent tangled with President Nixon during the Watergate affair, politicians “of every persuasion” have gotten better at applying pressure on the corporations that own the broadcast networks.

Addressing the Fordham University School of Law on Monday, he called the current atmosphere a “new journalism order.” He said this pressure – along with “dumbed-down, tarted-up” news coverage, 24-hour cable news competition and the chase for ratings – “creates a bigger atmosphere of fear in newsrooms.”

Actor (and global political expert) Tim Robbins also says there is a climate of fear in the media and a ”chill wind is blowing” from the White House to suppress dissent. With his boundless political wisdom, Robbins explains that the US is becoming a fascist state ....

‘A Chill Wind is Blowing in This Nation...’
(COMMON DREAMS)

In the 19 months since 9-11, we have seen our democracy compromised by fear and hatred. Basic inalienable rights, due process, the sanctity of the home have been quickly compromised in a climate of fear. A unified American public has grown bitterly divided, and a world population that had profound sympathy and support for us has grown contemptuous and distrustful, viewing us as we once viewed the Soviet Union, as a rogue state.

This past weekend, Susan and I and the three kids went to Florida for a family reunion of sorts. Amidst the alcohol and the dancing, sugar-rushing children, there was, of course, talk of the war. And the most frightening thing about the weekend was the amount of times we were thanked for speaking out against the war because that individual speaking thought it unsafe to do so in their own community, in their own life. Keep talking, they said; I haven’t been able to open my mouth.

A relative tells me that a history teacher tells his 11-year-old son, my nephew, that Susan Sarandon is endangering the troops by her opposition to the war. Another teacher in a different school asks our niece if we are coming to the school play. They’re not welcome here, said the molder of young minds.

For the record, I want to make it clear to these two brain-damaged specimens what a fascist, government-controlled “climate of fear” really is. It is the majority of the Muslim nations in the Middle East where disagreeing with the powers that be will get you instantly killed. It is North Korea where disagreement with “Dear Leader” will get you years in a miserable concentration camp, worked to death and left to starve. It is Communist China where the government would never allow Blathering Dan even a second in their broadcast booths nor would Professor Robbins be allowed to dissent in the tone he takes above. Both would be summarily shot. That is a real “climate of fear” ....

China Sets New Rules On Internet News
BEIJING (Reuters)

China set new regulations on Internet news content on Sunday, widening a campaign of controls it has imposed on other Web sites, such as discussion groups. “The state bans the spreading of any news with content that is against national security and public interest,” the official Xinhua news agency said in announcing the new rules, which took effect immediately.

The news agency did not detail the rules, but said Internet news sites must “be directed toward serving the people and socialism and insist on correct guidance of public opinion for maintaining national and public interests.” Established news media needed permission to run a news Web site, it said. New operators had to register themselves with government information offices.

China has a dedicated band of cyber police who patrol the Internet with the aim of regulating content. Postings that criticize the government or address sensitive topics are quickly removed. Registration was a feature of rules imposed earlier this year aimed at not-for-profit Internet activities, such as personal Web sites and blogs.

Since March, university on-line discussion groups have been restricted to students, removing a once popular outlet for Chinese keen to publicize their views on sensitive issues. Student users and site managers must register using their real names. The biggest Chinese Web portals include those operated by Sina Corp. (http://www.sina.com.cn) and Sohu.com Inc. (sohu.com). Both carry news. Access to many foreign news Web sites is routinely blocked.

Now that is a “chill wind” and a “climate of fear”. What we have in the United States is an open society that allows any ignorant pissant to babble his/her head off anytime, anywhere. Like Blather and Robbins are doing. It’s too bad we don’t have a STFU Amendment in the Constitution to protect us from these idiots.

Dumbass Of The Day (So Far)

What’s the quickest way to get your ass shot off in our current terrorist infected world? Why that’s easy ... just whip out a pistol and fire off a few shots outside a football stadium right before the game. It doesn’t matter if you’re working with the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco and are trying to get the attention of a few drunk tailgaters. Some cop will undoubtedly pop a cap in your ass ... just for being stupid.

Officer Killed At Football Game in Fla.
ORLANDO, Fla. (WASHINGTON POST)

A university police officer working with the state to curb underage drinking was shot to death by an Orlando police officer outside the Citrus Bowl Saturday as fans were arriving for a football game, authorities said. Mario Jenkins, a canine officer working with agents of the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, was killed, said police Sgt. Troy Williamson of the University of Central Florida. Williamson said Jenkins was wearing street clothes. He did not discuss the circumstances of the shooting.

“You’ve got about 50 police officers and beverage agents who are in complete shock,” Williamson said. Witnesses told the Orlando Sentinel that the incident started when an undercover officer tried to break up a tailgate party. When he encountered resistance, they said, he fired three shots into the air. An Orlando police officer saw the man with the gun and shot him several times, the newspaper said.

Authorities believe a third person was involved, said Barbara Jones, spokeswoman for the Orlando Police Department. Jones did not say whether the person was injured. The shooting occurred before a game between the University of Central Florida and Marshall University, which UCF won. “It’s pretty freaky. You don’t think you would see this at a UCF game,” said junior Nicole Jorgensen, 22.

The Pussification Continues

It has been noted by Kim Du Toit in his venerable essay “The Pussification Of The American Male” that the male population in this country is going to the dogs. Kim has recently taken his blog off-line and gone on hiatus for a time or else I would give you a link to that editorial that strikes at the heart of several things that are wrong in our modern world. We’ve got homosexuals in the military thanks to the liberals and if the ACLU had anything to do with it we’d have them in the Boy Scouts. The American male is being driven undercover, made to look foolish in nearly every advertisement you see and if that don’t beat all, we have recently been given a new word to add to our vocabulary, thanks again to the liberal Left. That word is “metrosexual”.

What is a “metrosexual”? I don’t have a clue. All I know is that I’m probably not one based on what I’ve read. According to the liberal media that probably also means I’m an unreconstructed neanderthal (note to the “cavemen” in the GEICO commercials: I feel your pain). I consider myself to be a rational, intelligent, hard-working male of the species. I love women and am willing to put up with a certain amount of grief from the “fairer sex” in the interests of harmony. I have no “feminine” side though and I have no need to try and get in contact with my sensitive “inner man”. That is all patent bullshit, as far as I’m concerned.

Does all that make me a “sexist pig” (with apologies to Oink)? I don’t think so. All it makes me is a man who believes that blurring of the gender roles is contributing to the downfall of civilization. I believe every man has to make up his mind what he will make of himself, in the context of being a man, not of being part man and part woman or any combination thereof. I know who I am and what I am and that’s all I need to know about myself. I take comfort in the fact that John Wayne and Humphrey Bogart would probably agree with me.

The men described in this story below obviously have other ideas. That’s because they’re not real men. They are “metrosexuals” and seem to be proud of that fact. I wouldn’t give a plugged nickel for any one of them in a street fight though ....

Metrosexual Matrimony
When modern men prepare to wed, many wax, tan and help plan. Here come the “groomzillas”.
(TIME)

By the time Pasquale Pignatelli visited luxury clothier Hickey Freeman for the final fitting of an $1,800 custom-made worsted-wool suit, he had devoted as much time perfecting his wedding outfit as his fiancé had spent selecting her bridal gown. Pignatelli, 29, a cargo salesman, also carefully chose his groomsmen’s and ushers’ outfits and bought white-gold bracelets to accessorize them. He arranged for them to get eyebrow waxings and manicures on the day before his Sept. 18 wedding. “It’s not about what’s superficial,” says Pignatelli of his fastidiousness. “It’s about making this artistic.”

The “bridezillas” who pay assiduous attention to nuptial details haven’t disappeared. But increasingly they’re joined at the altar by “groomzillas,” who care just as much about the particulars of the big day. Whereas a decade ago many men limited their input to the choice of DJ for the reception, growing numbers are now getting involved with everything from seating plans and table decorations to wedding-cake design and keepsakes for guests. Brian Lawrence, 35, of Livingston, N.J., says he’s handling much of the planning for his Oct. 23 wedding. Having picked the site himself, he chose chocolate-dipped biscotti over infused olive oil for the favors. Lawrence wants to share the event, not just attend it. “It’s my wedding just as much as it’s hers,” he says.

The fact that couples are marrying later means that more brides are in established careers that leave less time for wedding planning. Not only are many women too busy to manage all the details themselves, but as cultural expectations about gender roles have shifted, ubiquitous TV images of chivalrous would-be grooms--on shows like The Bachelor, A Wedding Story and Perfect Proposal--have helped redefine the groom’s tasks. According to NPD Research, a New York--based marketing firm, 80% of men are now active co-partners in the wedding-planning process. “I’ve had grooms call me five or six times a day about small details months before their weddings,” says Los Angeles wedding planner Julie Pryor. “I’m finding that grooms are hiring me more often too.”

As men get more involved with their weddings, businesses are wooing them and in the process reinventing some male rituals. Engagement consultants are helping design elaborate proposals. Travel agencies and resorts are offering multiday bachelor-party blowouts. And spas are creating groom packages that include nail treatments, hairstyling and even tanning sessions.

Very Bad News Indeed

Women bypass sex in favour of ‘instant pregnancies’

Wealthy career women in their 30s and early 40s, some of whom have given up regular sex altogether, are turning to “medicalised conception” - despite being fertile and long before they have exhausted the possibility of a natural conception.

Michael Dooley, a gynaecologist, obstetrician and fertility expert, said that in the past five years he has seen a 20 per cent increase in the number of patients seeking “inappropriate or premature” IVF treatment.

“Many of these couples are simply not having sex or not having enough sex,” he said. “Conception has become medicalised. It’s too clinical. There has been a trend away from having sex and loving relationships towards medicalised conception.”

Inapproprate is right!  What in the world are we coming to when there is no time for sex, but you still want to have kids?  Sheesh.  Don’t they know kids take a little time too????

Why?

The Skipper’s post below about Israel’s latest retaliation against Palestine elicited a number of responses and it got me thinking. There have always been groups of people hated or denigrated. When I think of this country’s history, certainly Blacks and Irish come to mind as groups that were hated. But Israel has been hated forever. From the king of Babylon through Hitler and even today, Israel has been the object of scorn. Why? You can see economic or political reasons (or excuses) for hating this group or that group for a season, but Anti-Semitism has been with us for 3,000-4,000 years. Why? What causes a small group of people to be so generally hated? What have they done as a nation that is so generally vile that they are universally denigrated? I’m not talking about events in the last year, but the last couple of thousand years. I have an idea, but want to hear yours first.
