Health Care Protest Turns Violent

An anomaly or a beginning? An actual event or a setup? I wonder.

Health Care Town Halls Turn Violent

Town hall meetings called to discuss proposed health care legislation turned violent Thursday, with a meeting in Tampa, Fla., descending into shouting and one in St. Louis ending in arrests.

Close to 1,500 people came to the Tampa suburb of Ybor City to speak with Democratic State Rep. Betty Reed and U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, an event that exploded into a near riot.

According to local media reports, the larger-than-expected crowd gathered outside the Hillsborough County Children’s Board building, where several hundred people, most of whom opposed a government health care plan, began to loudly chant and scuffle with organizers posted at doorways after the auditorium filled to capacity.

A freelance videographer was roughed up in an altercation, which damaged his camera equipment and glasses, and at least one man was treated for minor injuries after a scuffle left his shirt partially torn from his body.

“That’s the most violent anyone has been towards me,” Mark Bishop told WTSP-TV. “It was surprising, to say the least.”

Gosh, why would anyone want to rough up the media guy? Doesn’t everyone know that the media is our friend and ally?

In Mehlville, Mo., St. Louis police arrested six people, some on assault charges, outside another forum that was billed as a meeting on aging but was attended by activists on both sides of the health care debate.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the police showed up toward the end of the forum held by Democratic Rep. Russ Carnahan. One conservative activist, interviewed at a local emergency room where he was being treated for injuries, said he was attacked by some of the individuals who were arrested as he passed out “Don’t tread on me” flags.

A forum with Democratic Rep. John Dingell in Romulus, Mich., also got rowdy as foes and supporters of health care reform argued with each other and one man, with his son in a wheelchair, shouted at the congressman. A similar scene reportedly unfolded as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited a homeless clinic in Denver.

In Tampa, video shot outside the auditorium showed several people holding signs and posters, banging on doors and windows, while others argued face-to-face and were seen screaming at one another in the parking lot as police looked on.

Inside, Democratic lawmakers had a difficult time delivering their opening remarks, as they were met with shouts of “You work for us!’’ “Tyranny! tyranny! tyranny!’’ and “Read the bill!” the Tampa Tribune reported.

This is only the beginning. The whole country is mad as hell and we’re not going to take it any more. Obama and his far left cronies have pushed their crazy agenda too hard and too fast, and the people are beyond fed up. Whether you call his actions and beliefs Fascism, Communism, or Socialism doesn’t matter. People are waking up to it, FINALLY. Government takeovers. Cap & Trade. Health Care “reform”. Spread the wealth. Insane levels of debt. Worthless currency. Open borders. A government full of corrupt thieves who vote themselves above the laws. Higher taxes, higher spending, bailouts, Acorn, special interests. It’s too much. And it’s gone way too far. And it’s long past time.

Be angry people. Scream and shout. Don’t trust the media AT ALL. But let’s do it peacefully, even though you’ll be branded as a swastika wearing, well dressed hooligan for doing so. WTF, we’re all on that proto-terrorist watch list already.

Oh, by the way: I am old enough to remember the campus protests during the Sixties. Many of those turned violent, but only after the television cameras arrived. Learn from the past, yes?

A Family Heirloom is created

Louis Haros is a Vietnam veteran. His son, Paul, has been serving in Iraq. Father Louis vowed to fly the flag until…

“I made a promise to him that it won’t come down until he’s home,” Haros told FOXNews.com on Tuesday. “Well, it’s still there. I feel if I bring it down and something happens to him … I don’t know.”

Well, admittedly, the flag is looking pretty tattered now, and under normal circumstances, I’d have consigned her for ceremonial burning. See for yourself:

image

Yep, a candidate for proper disposal, yes?

NO!

Mr. Haros has created, whether he knows it or not, a family heirloom.

I was looking to find an email address for Mr. Haros. I failed, but I did find a a blog and posted the following as ‘Anonymous’:

I would have to say that I’m in total support of Mr. Haros.

I go further. Mr. Haros has just created a family heirloom. Think of that. When his son does come home, I’d wish that Mr. Haros did NOT dispose of the flag. Instead, it should be folded as best it can, and presented to his son in honor of services rendered.

You know, there is a practice where the Government hoists flags to fly for ten seconds or so over the Capitol building or the White House, and then Congressmen or Senators will send said flag out to constituents. Meaningless flags, when you get right down to it.

The Haros flag has meaning. It flew for however long, the provenance is known, and should be considered a family heirloom, passed down with the stories of why it was flown, and the feats of Mr. Haros’ son attached.

That’s what I wish for this flag. Mr. Haros, I salute you.

What do you think? Would you treasure such a flag? Is it more meaningful than some generic flag that flew over the White House for ten seconds?

Really, it’s just such small things that create such great family treasures and stories.

BTW, Drew, need a Family category.

Oh yes, I almost forgot. Original FOX story is here.

UPDATE from Red State:

For fear of being ‘ambushed’ by Republican “lynch-mobs,” Democratic Congressman Brian Baird (WA-3) said he refuses to hold in-person town hall meetings over the summer’s month-long Congressional recess.

Citing the G.O.P.’s “Brown Shirt tactics” as the impetus for his decision, Baird told the Columbian he will instead host a telephone town hall, thereby lessening the ability for “extremists”—which ostensibly is anyone expressing legitimate dissent—to “shout and make YouTube videos.”

Baird’s aggressive, albeit obtuse, rhetoric is the newest installment in the Republican and Democratic parties’ debate as to the nature of the protesters – organic reactions versus highly-orchestrated mobs of extremists.

While Baird’s patently offensive Nazi SA comparison is indeed more aggressive than the DNC’s portrayal of protesters as mentally unstable conspiracy theorists bent on proving Obama’s Kenyan birth, the sentiment is not wholly unlike the opinions expressed by Lanny Davis and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Speaker Pelosi categorically rejected the notion that conservatives could oppose the President’s domestic agenda on legitimate grounds and maintained that critics of Obama’s health care overhaul were brandishing “swastikas and symbols like that” at town hall meetings.

Echoing Pelosi’s ridiculous opinion, Davis said in a posting on Politico’s Arena the Republican “shout-downs” were a classic example of “fascist tactics” and were a detriment to civil debate.

A greater detriment to civil debate, as it turns out, is the decision to not engage in one, like the case of Congressman Baird.

Community organizing is only acceptable as a singular means to effect liberal change. Critics of Obama’s “Great Society,” however, are pitch-fork toting, NASCAR loving, civil debate hating, Nazis.

In the absence of a public town hall, Baird’s pitch-fork toting, NASCAR loving, civil debate hating, Nazi constituents can reach the Congressman’s D.C. office by phone at (202) 225-3536.

The famous John Paul Jones quotation comes to mind “I have not yet begun to fight!”

The left is going bugshit because the smallest amount of their own tactics have been used against them. Well, boo freakin’ hoo, too friggin’ bad. It’s about time. Formal Republican leadership is non-existent. RINOS and cheese eating surrender monkeys fill the elected ranks. They won’t fight. They don’t know how. So it’s up to the citizens. And we’ve had 8 solid years of daily, hourly schooling to learn exactly how it’s done. IT IS TIME.  Get the images out, get the word out. Don’t bother with logical discussions, go straight to emotional appeal and ad hominem attacks. Use simple catch phrases constantly, until they become the norm: We are fighting Obam-unism.

Saturday Link Following

America has been split into two hostile ideological camps. One is the anti-communist or anti-statist camp, which looks to traditional moral values, the Constitution, a strong family unit and the free market. The other camp is socialist or “progressive” in its outlook, globalist and environmentalist in its policies.”

There is no reconciling the two futures these camps represent. One or the other will win in the end. The war up to now has been waged in the political and social arena. The time is fast approaching when this political and social “war” will spill over into armed conflict-- real civil war. If it does, it will happen mostly because everyone thinks it impossible. For sixty years, the liberals have used our respect for the law against us. Each time they moved the line of law to further their agenda, breaking off a bit of the Constitution, we, as law-abiding citizens have backed up grumbling but complying. And why should they stop pushing us back from our God-given liberties? We’ve never pushed back to stop them. We have been TOO law-abiding.

Remember one thing: Adolf Hitler was elected, and the Nazis passed laws justifying every horrible act they later committed. In such a country, law-breaking is not a crime but a virtue.

Police allowed to take Hallowe’en and summer solstice off work. This doesn’t surprise you, does it ?

Welcome to modern England where political correctness is so pure, so invasive, so dictatorial, SO FULL OF SHIT, that every little group everywhere no matter what has .... RIGHTS!  Where everybody is recognized as something and has a claim on the system.

I guess it would be a bad place if nobody had any rights at all.  But come on.  Some things are really just made up stuff on the spur and you know they are.
Simply say you belong to some group or other and you automatically have the right to make claims on behalf of said made up cartoon with the force of law behind you.  Except for known unpopular things like, being anti diversity, anti multi culture etc. Oh yeah, and now btw parents may “lose the right to boycot school sex lessons.” Now I’m not a parent and so can’t really take a side as one and speak like one.  But even so it seems to me that parents should be able to decide at what age their children should be formally taught that subject.  And I do realize that for some parents there would never be a time.  How did the world make it this far btw?  Well I’m gonna avoid that subject because it isn’t where I started.

I caught this rather bizarre article and ....... and ....  ??  Here. See if it seems reasonable and logical to you. In todays world, I guess it’s simply par for the course.

So then, how about law abiding Neo Nazis who are breaking no laws, not encouraging violence or abusing police, what if a group of them want to celebrate publicly, April 20th.  What then?  AND ... they want April 20 as a day off.  What then?
Don’t accuse me of being silly on that because frankly this world is soooooo far gone now that I can actually see a civil rights lawyer arguing the case for them.

Right. Now I’ve said that I really should be honest and expose all cause to do less would be mis-leading on my part.
Truth about me is ....  I’m a dinosaur.  I was brought up in a very different time, have a hard time with change and in fact don’t much like change except where computers are concerned.  I have a hard time understanding new fangled religions and things like ebonics and kwanza and view this in the same light.  I might be very mistaken and wrong to do so.  But, well. Sorry.  It all seems like fakery to me.  ??
Which wouldn’t be at all fair to those who quite honestly believe what they say they do. How can I judge?  I guess I do because it human nature.

OK ... I hear thunder. LOUD!  I usually unplug when that happens. Will wait another minute or two.
Cheers

Pagan police officers in Britain have been given the right to take eight days off work a year to celebrate “religious holidays” including Hallowe’en and the summer solstice.

By Nick Allen
Published: 12:30PM BST 16 Jul 2009

It follows the setting up of a Pagan Police Association to represent officers who worship nature and believe in many gods.

Pc Andy Pardy, a leading Pagan officer from Hertfordshire Police, met with Home Office officials this week to push for more recognition for pagan officers.

The neighbourhood beat manager, who has been an officer for the past seven years, is a heathen which means he worships Norse gods, including the hammer-wielding Thor, the one-eyed Odin and Freyr, the god of fertility.

Pc Pardy told Police Review magazine: “Paganism is not the new age, tree hugging fad that some people think it is. It is not the clandestine, horrible, evil thing that people think it is. A lot of people think it is about dancing naked around a fire but the rituals are not like that.

“It involves chanting, music, meditation, reading passages and for pagans the practices are seen to have the same power as prayer does for Christians. Most pagans practice some kind of conservation work as well to give something back to the planet.”

Hertfordshire Police allows Pc Pardy the eight pagan holidays off each year, including Hallowe’en, which signifies the Pagan new year, and the summer solstice in June.

The days are deducted from his annual leave but because of his religion the days off are set in stone.

Superintendent Simon Hawkins, of Hertfordshire Police, said: “While balancing operational needs, the force’s religion and beliefs policy gives all staff the choice of re-allocating the traditional Christian bank-holiday festivals to suit their personal faith.

“This has been very well received from a number of faith groups, including Muslim and Jewish.”

A spokesman for the Home Office confirmed the meeting with Pc Pardy.

He added: “The Government wants a police service that reflects the diverse communities it serves.

“It is down to individual forces to make reasonable adjustments to accommodate the religion or beliefs of individual officers, as far as operational requirements permit.”

There were 30,500 pagans in England and Wales in 2001, according to the Office of National Statistics.

Last year the Home Office introduced the pagan oath for use in the courts.

It is not known how many Pagan police officers and staff there are in the UK.

Another officer, Pc Andy Hill of Staffordshire Police, is a practising Wiccan, a pagan witch. He has founded Pagan Police Group UK, a website for pagan police officers and their families.

He said: “Wiccan has always been a bit of a taboo religion, there are lots of misconceptions around it. This is nothing to do with black magic or devil worshipping. It is working with nature for good.”

Muslims in the news. Again. This time told by judge hey, live here .. obey the rules here.

There’s something else going on here too and it’s perhaps a side issue.

This paragraph appears later in the article below.

Mr Rynja’s publishing company, Gibson Square Books, bought the rights to the novel after Random House dropped plans to publish it, fearing “acts of violence”. The American author had insisted that her book was respectful towards Islam and Mr Rynja said he felt that its publication was part of a liberal democracy.

So I was left wondering if it was Random House, UK that backed down, or was it Random House, USA?  Way it reads to me, looks to be the USA. If that’s true,
that is not a very good sign at all.  Is the religion of piss now dictating what books shall be published in MY country?
And hey folks, we already know there has been a play withdrawn and who knows what else.

What happened here in this story is that a publisher took a book and some muzzies didn’t want it published and so they tried to burn down his house.

One of the group already has a record as having tried to kill his father.  Oh the glory of the criminal system that he was out and walking free.

“If you choose to live in this country, you live by its rules.”
says the judge in case.

Three Islamic fundamentalists were jailed yesterday for an arson attack on a London publisher who planned to print an “offensive” book about the Prophet Muhammad.

From The Times
David Brown

July 8, 2009

The attack on the home of Martin Rynja has been compared to the campaign against the publication of Salmon Rushdie’s The Satanic Verses.

The door of Mr Rynja’s home was doused with diesel and set ablaze after it was discovered that he intended to publish Sherry Jones’s novel The Jewel of Medina, about the Prophet and his child bride.

The attack was led by Ali Beheshti, who was photographed three years ago at a London protest with his baby daughter dressed in a pink bonnet bearing the slogan “I love al-Qaeda

Undercover police followed Beheshti and the other attackers for several weeks and saw them monitoring the publisher and trying to avoid detection by changing their clothes.

Beheshti, 41, and Abrar Mirza, 23, admitted conspiracy to commit arson, being reckless as to whether life was endangered. Abbas Taj, 30, was convicted of the same offence at Croydon Crown Court in May.

Mrs Justice Rafferty, sitting at the Royal Courts of Justice, sentenced each of them to four and a half years in jail, saying: “If you choose to live in this country, you live by its rules.”

The judge described Mr Rynja as “a principled” man who had “exercised critical judgment on a literary work and stood up to be counted, knowing that publishing it put him at risk”.

Beheshti, unemployed, of Ilford; Taj, of Forest Gate; and Mirza, a mobile phone salesman of Walthamstow, all East London, planned to spend the night of the attack last September at the Regent’s Park Mosque as part of Ramadan. But shortly after they arrived at the mosque, they set out with “fire-making equipment” for the publisher’s home in Islington, North London.

Beheshti is a supporter of the convicted cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri, who is fighting extradition to the United States on terrorism charges, and took part in the demonstrations outside the Danish Embassy in London in 2006 over cartoons in overseas magazines. The protesters, who thought the cartoons disrespectful to Muhammad, brandished placards calling for the bombing of the United States and death to Jews and British soldiers in Iraq.

Beheshti, also known as Abu Jihad — meaning holy war — was pictured with his daughter and described her as “the youngest member of al-Qaeda” as protesters waved banners vowing to “Massacre those who insult Islam” and promising “Europe, your 9/11 will come!”

Pictures found on a computer at his home showed Beheshti holding a burning cross at a protest outside the US Embassy in May 2005. Other pictures showed him posing with a gun and a large sword. Beheshti, previously convicted of trying to murder his father, also set fire to his hands with petrol outside the US Embassy during the protest.

His daughter, Farisa, aged 4, is reported to be attending an Islamic school and living with her mother Hannah, a white middle-class British convert.

Andrew Hall, QC, said in mitigation for Beheshti that the arson attack was “an act of protest born of the publication of a book felt by him and other Muslims to be disrespectful, provocative and offensive.

“He wishes me to say now, publicly, that he considers his conduct to have been misguided, disproportionate and counter-productive,” he added.

The Jewel of Medina has yet to be published in Britain.

SOURCE

These people have no intention of living by the rules of any country they invade. In the case of converts who are native born, they are little more then traitors.

As for the statement; “ he considers his conduct to have been misguided, disproportionate and counter-productive “

Right.  Double speak for .... he’s damn sorry he got caught.

The Americans Who Risked Everything

Hello, and happy Independence Day to all you BMEWSd out there.

While casting about for something to post in honor of what could arguably be the last ‘Independence Day’ celebration under the Obammunista regime (seriously, we need regime change in the US of A NOW!), the best that I could find was this speech from Rush H. Limbaugh, Jr.

That’s right, this is father of the Rush we all know and love; or love to hate if you’re a liberal.

Face it, only liberals can engage in ‘hate’ speech or ‘racist’ speech. Conservatives don’t acknowledge the premise.

In these times, I pray I may live up to the examples of patriotism listed here…

Rare copy of the U.S. Declaration of Independence found gathering dust in BRITAIN’S National Archive

Hey ... How about this.  What a find.

Here’s some reader comments from The Mail.

Contrary to what many think, the declaration was not signed on July 4. The first public reading was on July 8. It was not engrossed until 7/19, and ordered to be signed. The signing did not start until Aug 2. Happy 233rd birthday!

- Marlene, Alexandria, VA, 02/7/2009 15:47

Please preserve that copy for us just in case ours goes missing. The idiots in Washington don’t seem to remember what it says or why it was written.

Declaration of Independence found gathering dust in BRITAIN’S National Archive

By Tom Kelly
Last updated at 4:45 PM on 02nd July 2009

An original first print of the United States Declaration of Independence has been discovered gathering dust in Britain after nearly 250 years.

The poster size proclamation, which is in perfect condition and is said to be worth £5million, is one of only 26 surviving initial copies of the document that changed the course of history.

It was found by complete chance by an American antiquarian bookseller carrying out unrelated research in the National Archives in Kew, West London.

The manuscript was hidden among files of correspondence from U.S. colonists that had been intercepted by the British in the 18th century.

The Declaration of Independence was mainly written by the U.S. Founding Father Thomas Jefferson, and is described by historians as ‘America’s birth certificate.’

It was adopted by the Continental Congress in 1776 which announced that the thirteen American colonies that were at war with Great Britain were now independent states, and no longer a part of the British Empire.

It includes the then extraordinary assertion: ‘We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal,’ which sent shockwaves through the hereditary European monarchies, and paved the way for the French Revolution 13 years later.

The document was finalised and approved in Philadelphia on July 4 1776 and the 200 first copies were made by printer John Dunlap that night and distributed throughout the colonies the following morning to be read aloud to the colonists and their militia.

It is not certain how the newly discovered copy came into British hands, but it is likely to have been captured by the Royal Navy during the American Revolutionary War which continued for seven years after the Declaration of Independence was signed.

The last discovery of a Dunlap print was at a flea market in 1989, and it sold at auction in 2000 for £4.94million.

Despite its value, the National Archives said it will not be selling the print, although it might be loaned to former foes in the U.S.

‘The Americans are very excited by it,’ said a spokesman.

‘We do often loan out our key documents and I’m sure if an American institution wanted to borrow it, we would consider lending it to them.

‘It’s amazing that it has been lying here for so long undetected. It just shows how many documents we have.’

Edward Hampshire, the diplomatic and colonial specialist at the National Archives, said it was an incredibly exciting find.

‘It is likely that only around 200 of these were ever printed, so uncovering a new one nearly 250 years later is extremely rare, especially one in such good condition’.

The National Archives already has two other copies of the Declaration of Independence, one of which it keeps on display.

The Declaration was signed by 56 delegates from the colonies including two future presidents, Jefferson and John Adams, prompting church bells to ring over Philadelphia.

In the U.S. July 4 is marked by a public holiday, known as Independence Day.

Cuba Condemns Honduran Coup…

Cuba condemns Honduras coup as “criminal, brutal”
Sun Jun 28, 2009 6:48pm EDT

HAVANA (Reuters) - Cuba on Sunday condemned the military coup in Honduras as “criminal, brutal” and demanded the immediate return to office of deposed leftist President Manuel Zelaya.
The Honduran army ousted Zelaya and exiled him on Sunday in Central America’s first military coup since the Cold War, after he upset the military by proposing an extension of his four-year term in office.

“I denounce the criminal, brutal character of this coup,” Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez told a news conference in Havana.

Zelaya is viewed by Cuba’s communist leadership as a leftist ally and former Cuban leader Fidel Castro had expressed backing for his efforts to hold an unofficial public vote on Sunday to gauge support for his plan to hold a November referendum on allowing presidential re-election.

“This coup has removed a legitimate and constitutional government simply for wanting to carry out a consultation ... in Honduras there is only one constitutional government, one constitutional president who should return immediately without conditions to the palace,” Rodriguez said.

The Cuban foreign minister also denounced what he called the violent treatment by Honduran troops of several foreign ambassadors in Tegucigalpa, specifically those of Cuba and Venezuela.

Earlier, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Honduran soldiers took away the Cuban ambassador and left the Venezuelan ambassador on the side of a road after beating him during the coup. The Cuban ambassador was later released.

Rodriguez said the Cuban, Venezuelan and Nicaraguan ambassadors in Tegucigalpa had been seeking to give diplomatic shelter to Zelaya’s Foreign Minister Patricia Rodas when a band of Honduran soldiers, their faces hooded, had tried to take her away. He said he was extremely concerned for her safety.

Chavez on Sunday put troops on alert over the coup in Honduras and said he would respond militarily if his envoy to the Central American country was kidnapped or killed.

Rodriguez said there were 84 people, including diplomats, women and children, at the Cuban embassy in Tegucigalpa and said Cuba was “ready to defend the integrity of our embassy”.

(Reporting by Marc Frank, Editing by Pascal Fletcher and Philip Barbara)

I’m sorry but Cuba has and the Castro’s have lost the ability to judge anything as criminal and Brutal.. everything points that while military rule may be bad, considering the currently ousted Honduran President was aligned with Chavez and Castro, anything is better then him staying in power.....
