The Art Of Blogging

As is typical of a Sunday morning, I spent the time catching up on visiting sites on our blog roll to see what everyone else is up to. Most of them I visit on a daily basis or go through their RSS feeds along with RSS feeds from the news world (we have an RSS feed here too, if you're interested - see the right sidebar and look for the little orange RSS button). There is just so much good stuff out there in the blogosphere and at news sites that it is much more convenient to browse the RSS feeds and select the stories and posts I want to read individually.

Anyway, I decided to check with Bill at INDC Journal to see if he had posted pictures of the pro-abortion rally last weekend. Not yet, but he promises they are coming soon. Another post on his site did catch my eye called "Confessions Of A Link Whore". Bill has only been blogging since January of this year like us and has some concerns about how to generate traffic and whether e-mailing other bloggers, posting comments at other blog sites is the way to go. My answer to Bill is simple, "Forget it. Just continue doing what you do and enjoy the ride."

Case in point: yours truly. Vilmar and I have been busy posting Moonbat insanities for only four months and occasionally we stir up a controversy with our political insight and general "give-a-shit" attitude. We've both been having fun with this and our readers and their comments are just icing on the cake. We thoroughly enjoy ALL of our readers, even the ones who hate our guts. We're not here for the applause or the heckling. As our mission statement at the top of the page states, we are here to change minds and help people think rationally. To make the world a better place (and the first bastard out there who starts singing "Koombayah" will definitely be shot).

INDC Journal is a totally excellent blog site and I highly recommend it. We all know the capital of Moonbattery is Washington, DC and here we have a man on the inside, taking pictures and posting them for us that provide hours of entertainment and give fine examples of "people whose brains have gone haywire". Bill recently posted an excellent photo pictorial of the new WWII Memorial that brought back fond memories for me. My dad was stationed at Andrews AFB during the late 1950's and this was my favorite time of year as Mom and Dad would take us out to the Tidal Basin where we would picnic under the Cherry trees as they blossomed, along with thousands of other Washingtonians every weekend. One of my happiest childhood memories.

So anyway, I started to thinking about blogging and decided to investigate further. My investigation led me to the Commissar at the Politburo Diktat whose post "Revolution - Beyond Instalanche" provided new insight and introduced me to a new term, "The Instalaunch", which evidently occurs when a blogger e-mails The Evil Glenn Reynolds (Puppy Blender) and His Evilness, who sits atop the TTLB Blogosphere Ecosystem, deigns to bless the blogger with a link from his massively popular blog site in Barad-dur atop Mt. Doom in Mordor.

Not to put too fine a point on it but if an "Instalaunch" from Reynolds can make or break a blogger, why not have a "KOSLaunch" for the evil, Leftist clone army of the Democratic Party. DailyKOS is ranked in the top 10 bloggers in the TTLB, so a blessing from this idiotic, stoopid, leftist, liberal ass-wipe, who only gained popularity because of a recent post, that was so outrageously in bad taste that he had to backtrack and remove it, should be almost worth as much as a Reynold's Instalaunch. At that point my brain started to fry and hallucinations set in - something that can happen to anyone who reads KOS or thinks about him very much. Time to change the subject before I melt down ....

So I thought, "Should I crawl, sniveling and whining before The Evil Tennessee Lawyer, begging for a pittance from the mighty lord?" - I crack myself up at times. The answer was an unequivocal "fuck it! - not no, but HELL NO!" Glenn Reynolds should be begging me to link to him, not the other way around. My writing is so much better than his and much more entertaining. I challenge the Instapundit to come up with anything as interesting as my posts here. .......... HAH! I knew he couldn't do it. I WIN! YAY!

So I tossed the idea of an Instalaunch into the circular file and decided to write this. For the record, most blog sites become popular because the authors are having fun. Case in point: we had been steadily climbing in popularity (not that I'm keeping score, mind you) averaging about 2000-3000 visitors a month (I know, Evil Glenn gets 100,000 per day but who gives a rat's ass). One day, just for giggles and fun I posted a poll about "Which Blogger Would You Want To Cover Your Ass In A Foxhole in Fallujah". All of a sudden the phone lines lit up and we had over 8,000 visitors during the three days of the poll. Then the lady bloggers wanted a shot so we had to have another poll entitled "Le Poll Femme Fatale" along the same lines, except for female bloggers. Once again, we had literally thousands of visitors during the poll. What's my point? It's easy, the bloggers in the poll (and ourselves) were having fun. None of us actually wanted to be stuck in a foxhole in Fallujah but it gave everyone a chance to participate and talk about the war in Iraq at the same time. Several of the "creme de la creme" of the blogging world (except Evil Glenn - who was not invited) participated and a good time was had by all. It was almost as good as sitting under the cherry trees in DC in springtime. That, to me, was better than an "Instalaunch" any day.

So to all you other bloggers out there, I say "live for the day, smell the cherry blossoms, write good stuff, post good pictures - and have fun". Remember that only ten years ago the blogosphere didn't even exist. Ten years from now there may be something even better.

In the meantime, I gotta run. There's some stoopid Moonbat butt out there to kick - and thanks to Emperor Misha, I got just the right size ClueBat&trade to do it with.

...... and I just gotta figure out how Evil Naughty Frank J can come up with TWO fan clubs. Don't get me started .....

Le Poll Femme Fatale

Kim du Toit won our first poll by a large margin as the blogger we would most want to cover our back if we were stuck in a foxhole in Fallujah. We hereby swear allegiance to the Imperial GunMeister (with Emperor Misha's approval of course).

Now. It's the ladies' turn. Same foxhole, same bombardment going on, same screaming ass-wipes yelling "Jihad", "Kill America", and "Where's my goat?" just over the ridge.

Which female blogger would you want to cover your back in that foxhole. Keep in mind that important criteria are: (a) armament, (b) nasty attitude and (c) a deeply psychotic mentality. Good looks and cooking skills count as bonus points only.

Three VERY IMPORTANT notes for all voters:

1- Voting this time is being limited to one vote per IP address. Ballot-stuffing is frowned upon (in other words, no Democrat poll this time - a fair Republican one)

2- Be careful with your comments - these ladies have husbands and boyfriends .... who own guns .... lots of guns .... did I mention that their significant others are heavily armed? You have been warned.

3- You may have noticed that one very important name is missing from the poll .... The Blogmother, Rachel Lucas. Rachel retired from the blog world in January (sigh). Evil Naughty Frank J claims to have kidnapped and killed her. We know different. Rachel was last seen at Dick Cheney's undisclosed location advising the Vice President on "policy matters". Rachel said she could tell us what those policy matters were but then she'd have to shoot us. Then she said she might just shoot us anyway. We ran away ...... (so there you have it) ---- we leave you with this picture of Rachel instead.

The Poll Is Closed

The Mrs. Du Toit Wins!

Update: It looks like Mrs. Du Toit has a comfortable lead at this point. The poll will close at midnight tonight so get your vote in now. We'll announce the winner tomorrow morning.

New Blogger Added To The BlogRoll

I got a really pleasant e-mail this afternoon from a new blog site called INDC Journal. We now have an inside spotter in the nation's capitol. Fearlessly keeping track (with pictures) of the chicanery going on inside the beltway. Check out the pictures of the "massive protest" at the Supreme Court today, where hearings are going on regarding the Gitmo prisoners. What a hoot!

The Official War Bloggers Directory

The War Blogger Yellow Pages are out, thanks to The Commissar. All neatly categorized. We have been filed under "Rants". I guess they must have been reading Vilmar since I'm so kind and sweet and loveable (mwah-hah-hah-ha-ha-ha). Along with us in the "Rants" catagory are Emperor Misha and DGCI. I'd say we're in pretty damned good company there.

It seems to me someone needs to come up with a Pink Pages listing of "Anti-War Bloggers". After all, we don't want to let the pussified, leftist ass-wipes of the opposition feel left out, do we? It might hurt their wittle feewings. Hmmmmmmmm ...............

Update: Naw, I can't bring myself to build a Pink Pages list. That would mean I would have to go read every one of those idiots' pages in order to categorize them and if I did that I would probably give up in exasperation and file them all under "SHIT-FER-BRAINS".

Member & Visitor Info

elcome to the Barking Moonbat Early Warning System. This blog was founded in January, 2004 by Allan Kelly. This post will hopefully explain the purpose of this blog and provide instructional information for visitors and registered members. I urge members and visitors to check this bulletin regularly for updates.

Who Am I: Allan is a professional database administrator and has worked in the Information Technology field for over 25 years. You may find more information about Allan in his personal web pages. You may e-mail from these e-mail links. Keep it pithy and do not send attachments unless you are a registered member. All e-mails from non-members with attachments will be deleted without reading.

Mission Statement: I despise leftists, liberals, Democrats, Hollyweirdos, terrorists and anyone who demonstrates a complete lack of common sense. I support our troops (Allan served in the USAF). Most importantly, I try to help people whose brains are broken. Since their brains are broken, they have no way of knowing their brains are broken. I provide assistance in regaining mental stability if possible. In the case of the groups named above (that I despise) it is a herculean task but I persevere.

Reading Material: I provide reading material for visitors and members to help understand the purpose of this blog. Here are some of them ....

“What Is A Moonbat”

“Why Do Moonbats Bark”

“Memories Of 9/11”

“Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)”

Visitors & Members: For blog software, I use pMachine’s Expression Engine. This software allows me to restrict and control access to commenting and prevent spam. Visitors are free to read any of the posts and comments without registering or becoming a member. However, in order to leave comments you are required to register first.

Member Registration: Member registration is simple. In the top right of the sidebar, you click on the “Register” link and you are taken to a registration screen. You must enter a valid e-mail address and agree to the terms of use for this blog. Once your registration is submitted, the system sends a validation e-mail to the e-mail address you provided. You MUST reply to this e-mail before your membership can be activated. Once your membership is submitted and validated, you may login from the “Login” link in the top right sidebar. You must login before submitting comments. This site tracks users with cookies. As long as you don’t have cookies turned off in your browser, you can check “Auto Login On Future Visits” and the system will remember you each visit and you will not have to re-login every time. If you encounter any problems with the registration or login processes send an e-mail to Allan.

Member Avatars: I encourage our members to either select an avatar from our extensive avatar library or upload an avatar to your account. These avatars are displayed every time a member posts or comments. You may either select from our library of over 100 avatars or upload your own from the Member Profile page. Just click on “Your Account” in the top right sidebar after you login.

Blog Display & Links: This blog is optimized for browsers with a screen size of at least 1024x768. I recommend Firefox, Mozilla, Opera, Internet Explorer or Safari (in that order). Screen sizes smaller than the one recommended above may result in the posts section (left side) overlapping the informational links section (right sidebar). Posts may include links. Links to other pages are ALWAYS in bold green type. At the bottom of each post are the following: (1) name of the poster (with link to their profile page or e-mail address), (2) a link icon to the poster’s personal web pages, (3) the category of the post, (4) the date-time stamp of the post (Eastern Time), (5) a link to the trackback page which displays who linked to the story from other blogs, and (6) a “permalink” to the post which displays the post by itself in a separate window.

Search Engine: This blog incorporates Google’s Search Engine for quick access to specific topics. In the top right sidebar you will see the Search Engine input box. Simply enter the keywords you are looking for and select whether you wish to search the entire web or just within the Barking Moonbat Early Warning System web site. The BMEWS Search will look for your keywords in all published posts and comments on this blog. Use it to quickly find topics you are interested in. The posts and comments cover a wide range of topics.

Photo Gallery: In the right sidebar you will find a large “PHOTOS” icon which is a link to our photo galleries. I invite visitors and members to visit and comment on our pictures. Galleries cover several topics. Members are encouraged to send images for inclusion in the galleries. Contact Allan for assistance in submissions to the Galleries.

Guest Posts: Allan controls what gets posted here. Period. I post 99% of the material but I encourage members to submit guest posts. I reserve the right to edit or refuse content. Guest posts should be submitted via e-mail to Allan. I will let you know if I post it and if not, why.

Discussion Forums: This blog operates a forum for members and guests. There is a link on the main page under “Special Blog Features”. Guests may join in the discussion in selected “open” categories.

Commenting: Members are encouraged to comment on posts and engage in discussions with the authors and other members. At the bottom of each post is a link named “Comments” and a current count of all comments. Clicking on this link opens up a window with the post, all current comments and an editing window to submit your own comments. You may add certain HTML characteristics such as bold and underline to emphasize a point. I do not censor comments however I have one rule: do not engage in personal attacks on each other or the authors. That will bring down the wrath of BMEWS on your head. Smileys and emoticons are provided to enable you to enhance your comments with playful icons. Most importantly, the “Preview” button is your friend. Use it to view your comments before you click the “Submit” button. Once you submit your comment, it cannot be changed.

Bad Behavior: I try to run an open forum here and welcome all kinds of creatures. However, there are occasionally those who misbehave or offend other members with comments. I do not censor member comments but I do ask that members remain civil .. and do not piss off Allan. First-time offenders will be placed on probationary status and all comments must be approved by Allan before being displayed. Persistent offenders will find their membership cancelled. Outright troublemakers will find their IP address banned and they will not even be able to view the blog site. I generally try to talk to offenders first before resorting to these measures but everyone should be aware of one thing: it’s my blog and I own it, I built it, I control it .. I only have a small amount of patience. Piss me off at your own peril.

Copyright Information: All content on this blog site is copyrighted by Allan (BMEWS LLC). I do not mind if you grab images or quote our posts. All I ask is that you provide a link back to the site and attribute the work to me. I operate under the same rules for images or posts I use here from other sites. Please share but give credit. It’s only fair.

Miscellaneous: Right below the blog logo, you see famous quotes randomly displayed. Members are encouraged to send quotes to include. At the very bottom of the page, left section is an informational display about who is currently logged-in and reading (members only) as well as statistics about blog performance and usage.

Any questions not answered here may be resolved by simply sending an e-mail to Allan. I hope you enjoy the blog. If not, feel free to start your own blog or just fuck off and die.

I thank all of you for visiting. I hope you enjoy your visit here and decide to participate in the ongoing discussions in the comments. Free exchange of ideas is the true strength of the blogosphere.

More Blinks

Blinks are blog links to other blog sites we find interesting and sometimes ...... unusual.

Just when you thought it was safe to surf the web again .... she appears.

Frank J. has a special offer on the new IMAO Martyr Gun.

Scrappleface is reporting on foreign leaders who support Bush. Laughing gas alert!

This kind of crap makes me grind my teeth.

Daily Pundit is reporting that Al Qaeda's next target will be the BBC. Excellent choice, guys. May we help?

Bill Whittle posts another epic. Damn! This guy is good.

Emperor Misha takes a ClueBat&trade to illegal immigrants and the "fisk" is in. Everybody lay low until Misha calms down. Which could be never. Hehe ....

Educational site How Stuff Works examines Rocket Propelled Grenades. Cool!

Thanks to Allah, we found out that Al Jazeera has a poll on their web site where you can vote on whether Spain should withdraw its troops from Iraq. Just thought you might like to know.

The Alliance Of Free Blogs has a new Precision Guided Humor Assignment: President Kerry, The First 100 Days. Bloggers are invited to post on their blog sites a piece describing what it would be like. I have an answer in three words: The End Times. Maybe Vilmar will take up the challenge. I have my own essay to finish.

Finally, this is "food for thought".

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY: I was born and the war to liberate Iraq began. About half a century elapsed between the two, of course.

Microsoft’s Dirty Tricks

If you're a computer geek, by now you know about SCO's (Santa Cruz Operation) lawsuits against ALL Linux users and distributors, claiming Linux code has "stolen" pieces of Unix (which SCO currently holds the patent and royalties to). SCO's sales have been disappearing lately and the lawsuits are nothing more than an attempt to destroy Linux and gain their business back. The fact of the matter is the lawsuits are entirely frivolous and SCO knows it. Linux was developed, and is continuing development, by independent programmers and is much better than Unix because of that community of excellent free-thinking developers.

A few months ago, SCO was almost out of money and it was thought the company would have to abandon their lawsuits. Then suddenly, an investment company poured $50 million into SCO's coffers, enabling them to keep fighting this ridiculous battle that is gaining them the animosity and hatred of every Linux user in the world.

I love Linux because it is Open-Source and it is free. On top of that it is a real operating system that rarely breaks. The Open Source community around the world has supported Linux and thousands of programmers have put time and effort into making it better. So much better, in fact, that it has become a direct threat to "The Evil Empire", Microsoft.

Speaking of Microsoft and the evil Borg Empire that Bill Gates has built (Resistance is futile! Prepare to be assimilated!), it turns out that guess who (Microsoft) introduced the investment company to SCO and almost certainly encouraged them to invest in SCO.

I know I complain about the radical Muslims trying to take over the world by violence but the Evil Empire in Redmond, WA is even more insidious. They already control the majority of the desktop computers in the world with a cheap, shoddy, lame excuse for an operating system (Windoze) that has more security holes than swiss cheese, but they WANT IT ALL!

Microsoft, along with the Democrats, is the ENEMY WITHIN. Support Linux or be prepared to suffer Blue Screens Of Death forever!

Don’t Panic

On a whim I decided to tinker with the site's feng-shui today. I've wanted to experiment with different styles for some time. I made a few minor changes a couple of weeks ago and I was pleased (so was our Benevolent Dictator). I decided today to go one step further and do a total makeover on the logo and banner. For the last several hours you may have seen some strange things in the banner (Elvis, Big Foot, UFO's, Jimmy Hoffa). Some of it was pretty funny and some of it was downright ugly. All in all, it was fun.

In the end I decided to follow the main rule I adhere to at work: Keep It Simple, Stupid! Or KISS, for short (Don't tell Gene Simmons).

I decided I wanted the page to load fast so I took out the chopper. Our logo was reduced to "Batty" whom we feed daily (he already ate up all the dog food, cat food .... then ate the dog and the cat!). We couldn't bear to part with him. Besides he'd probably chew our legs off if we tried to dump him.

After some experimentation I managed to move the title and mission statement to the side of the logo. All that was left was a suitable background. I figured the large images we had been using had to go to make pages load faster. I settled on a very tasteful, dark bluish-gray marble that looks almost like it could fit on a British lord's dining table. Cheerio, eh what?

So, whaddya think?

Thank You

Holy Moley, Batman! I just looked at the date and realized we have been blogging here for two whole months. We have had over 5,100 visitors from 112 countries around the world (where the hell is Togo?). We have moved up the TTLB Ecosphere listings to the point where we're in place #460 (from #8000 when we started). Our current BlogShares stock rating is showing a P/E ration of $13.53 and our stock is "currently undervalued".

Why are we telling you this? Because we want to thank you all. The people who agree with us and the people who come here to attack us. It's all part and parcel of speaking your mind in the blogosphere. We thank and appreciate every one of you. We hope we have provided education and entertainment, facts and fun, truth and fiction, and most importantly a chance for you to broaden your mind and speak out on issues, whether you agree with us or not.

I know it sounds hokey but this is your blog as much as it is ours. And a very special thanks to those who submitted essays to our 9-11 contest. The final judging will begin next week. Stay tuned. Don't touch that dial. We'll be right here.

Y'all come back now, y'hear?

Outage Explained

We apologize if you lost our signal between 10:00 and 11:00am EST this morning. Everything is cool again. Our hosting service, Hosting Matters was performing scheduled maintenance. We knew about this in advance, thanks to the good folks at HM but forgot to pass it along. So blame us for not telling you.

Not all servers are back up at HM yet but they should all be back on-line by mid-afternoon. We're alive and still mad at Barking Moonbats. We're even protected against the ramblings of OldCatMan. So there!

Now, for an interesting story. Why did the servers go down? We're glad you asked. A few weeks ago, the Network Operations Center (NOC) at HM was broken into and some hard disks stolen. The hardware was quickly recovered and the burglars were taken into police custody thanks to quick work by the security personnel at HM and the NOC. Note: we are almost certain the "perps" were agents for the Democratic Underground so we've sent them to Gitmo for interrogation (and torture).

Rather than sit back and hope it didn't happen again, the outstanding folks at HM decided to take unilateral, pre-emptive actions and to plan an outage to move all servers into specially prepared steel cages with massive locks. During the interim all servers were guarded by an angry former US Marine with a baseball bat 24/7. DAMN! That's good service.

Anyway, today was the day to move the servers into protective isolation. All servers had to be powered down and physically moved into the cages. Now, everything is coming back on-line and we're protected against evil-doers. Reports are that Superman and Captain America are now in charge of security. Aquaman applied but was turned down because of a "fishy" background report. Frank J was heartbroken when he found out about that, since he is a long-time fan of "web-foot".

Does this action by Hosting Matters sound familiar - and a good thing ("unilateral" - "pre-emptive strike" - "protect against evil-doers")? If it does, vote Bush/Cheney in November.

And you other bloggers who are running on miserable, inferior hosting companies (who probably have ties to France, Al Qaeda and MoveOn.org), all we can say is "NYAH-NYA-NA-NA-NAHH". You silly people will have to face the evil-doers alone, unguarded while we kick back in safety and clean our guns for the next round.

Blinks

Blinks are "blog links" to other bloggers whom we approve of. Most of the stuff we dig up here we find on our own but occasionally some other team scoops us on an interesting item. Here is the most recent list:

There's a new kid in town: International Society For Demeaning Liberals. WIth a name like that, it can't miss. Go visit and encourage this kind of behavior.

Allah has a very amusing take on Martha Stewart.

Emperor Misha gives us a piece of his mind on gang rapists in Australia. His majesty is very angry.

The folks at Democrats Give Conservatives Indigestion have discovered actual Liberals sneaking onto their site. Yeah, we get them here too, along with weirdos of all shapes and sizes. My advice: dont' scare them off as you can have endless hours of fun picking on them and watching them whine.

Case in point, Frank J at IMAO is into Episode V of "The Great Limey Smackdown". The "limey" is getting nastier and nastier but Frank holds his own. Frank even provides an e-mail link to "The Limey" so everyone can join in. Go ahead - it's fun. I'm still waiting to see how Frank would handle an attack by "Le Frenchie".

Speaking of France, The Dissident Frogman (one of the good guys who is stranded in that miserable excuse for a country) has decided to enter the political fray over "separation of church and state" in France. If you think we have problems with this issue in America get a load of what happens when an intelligent, conservative Frenchman (no that's not an oxymoron - there a few good guys over there) slices and dices the French government's recent actions. Good read.

The "Commisar" over at The Politburo Diktat has listened to the comments from prisoners who have been released from Guantanamo and has decided that President Bush really does not know how to run a proper gulag. He recommends adding torture, starvation and beatings to the current schedule at Camp X-Ray, which includes free medical treatment, current movie viewings, playing football and astronomy classes.

Pstupidonymous reminds us that March 5 was the Tenth Anniversary Of Spam (not the good kind in a can but the bad kind in our e-mail boxes). Has it only been ten years since we were introduced to this wonderful marketing tool?

At Samizdata they're trying to figure out California's latest propositions on the ballot to manage the HUGE deficit there. It seems the voters in California passed three new measures that (a) borrows more money to pay off the current deficit (Prop 57), (b) promises not to borrow any more money (Prog 58), then (c) borrows another $12.3 billion for education (Prop 55). All I can say is: only in California.

And finally, NZ at The Truth Laid Bear is getting a little concerned about the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq. It seems the CPA has published several guidelines on the web for the upcoming Iraqi democracy. Bear finds more than a few inconsistencies. Hmmmmm ....

Update: NZ says the CPA site is very informative and recommends it. It also seems the CPA is already planning for its withdrawal in June. Go read it!

Nybbles And Bits

Just a few brief notes for Sunday:

Just a reminder that there are only two weeks left for you to submit your entry for the "9-11 Memories" contest.

This was a life changing event for many people in the US and passage of time seems to point to an ever increasing loss of outrage over what happened. Have you just swept it under the rug and go on hoping it won't happen again? If so, we have a Moonbat trophy for you and Al Qaeda is just waiting to spring their next little surprise on us as soon as we forget and let our guard down.

We must never forget until the last terrorist is either captured or killed! And whereas this contest is not meant to inflame nor enrage, it is meant to try and get people to think about where they were, what they were doing, and what they were thinking that week. Here is your chance to demonstrate your writing skills by writing about what you know - how it felt. As an added bonus, you get a chance to win a prize and send your support to our troops in Iraq.

So, hurry up and get busy. Pause to think about that day. Roll it around in your mind. Then send us your story. If your memory is failing you, go read the entries that have already been submitted. America is only as safe as we want it to be!
We've added a new poll on the sidebar. It's called the "Passion Poll". Here's your chance to express your opinion of Mel Gibson's "The Passion Of The Christ". Cast your vote and let us know how you feel. Check all that apply!
We've also added some new links in the sidebar to help you stay informed about your government. Check them out. In addition to all the other excellent links to government web sites, we've added a "special" government link for all the dope-smoking, smelly, anti-war protesting hippies out there. It's a link to America's Job Search. It's obvious these toe-jam sniffing idiots have way too much free time on their hands and we feel that if we can help them find gainful employment the fresh air and exercise may clear up their heads. Plus, as an added bonus they will have enough money to buy soap and may eventually learn how to take a bath and act rational. We can only hope. The only other alternative is THE BULLDOZER OF DOOM&trade.
Finally, the folks over at DGCI have the "bottom line" on all the money we haven't spent on NASA over the years. Interesting figures. It's amazing what NASA has accomplished on their budget. It's quite an impressive ROI if you think about it.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.
