How much you want to bet?

This is a horrible story, just breaking in the news. Murder and beheading on a Greyhound bus in western-central Canada.

Man beheaded on bus in Canada

UPDATE:

I guessed wrong. So, are we seeing beheading as a trend now, or is this just the work of some random madman?

TORONTO — Police on Friday identified the man who witnesses say stabbed and beheaded a passenger aboard a Greyhound bus traveling across the Canadian Prairies.

Sgt. Brian Edmonds said that 40-year-old Vince Weiguang Li, of Edmonton, Alberta, has been charged with second degree murder. Li is due to appear in court Friday.

The Canadian Press reported that the victim’s friends identified him as Tim McLean, a 22-year-old carnival worker. Authorities have not released his name and Edmonds would not confirm his identity. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

Uh, how on earth is this only second degree murder? The whacko got on the bus with a giant knife intending to kill someone. And then he did. He may have chosen the victim at random, but I’d say he had “malice aforethought”. I don’t like all these degrees of criminality. The guy killed someone on purpose, not by accident, and not in self defense. That’s murder. No degree.

Now let’s see if Li was an illegal alien.

PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, Man. — Shocked passengers aboard a Greyhound bus in Manitoba said the attack was incomprehensible.

One moment, the quiet man near the back of the bus was minding his own business.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, hadn’t talked to anyone around him, and seemed to pay no attention to the younger fellow sitting next to him, who was listening to music on headphones.

The next moment, witnesses said, the older man stood up, still quiet, and repeatedly stabbed then beheaded his seat-mate with a large hunting knife.

“We heard this blood-curdling scream and turned around, and the guy was standing up, stabbing this guy repeatedly, like 40 or 50 times,” Garnet Caton said Thursday from a hotel in Brandon, Man., where he and other passengers had been taken to rest.

“There was no rage or anything. He was like a robot, stabbing the guy.”

Caton said the bus stopped and everyone scrambled to get out while the attacker started methodically carving up the victim’s body, not paying attention to anyone else.

Caton and the driver shut the bus door from the outside while they waited for police to arrive.

“We put our bodies up against the door, waiting for him to come out ... and he went back and brought the head to the front and pretty much displayed it ... and dropped it on the ground in front of us,” Caton said.

“All very calmly. He was wearing sunglasses. It was no big deal to him.”

Fellow passenger Cody Olmstead from Kentville, N.S., also recalled the chilling scene.

“The guy came to the front of the door with buddy’s head in his hands, decapitated. He dropped the head and went back and started cutting the body back up,” Olmstead told Brandon radio station CKLQ.
...
One man was taken into custody after Mounties surrounded the vehicle.

PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, Man. - A portion of the Trans-Canada Highway remained closed Thursday morning as police continued to investigate an incident aboard a Greyhound bus.

Yellow tape surrounded the empty bus and RCMP officers remained on the scene, but they were saying little about what occurred on board the vehicle late Wednesday night.

Traffic was being rerouted onto a sideroad.

Several published reports earlier said a stabbing had occurred on the bus, with one unconfirmed report that someone had been decapitated.

The bus was carrying about 37 passengers and the driver to Winnipeg from Edmonton.

Police shut off a section of the east-bound Trans-Canada Highway, about 15 kilometres west of Portage la Prairie, ordering everyone away from the scene and rerouting traffic.

Day decries bus stabbing as one-of-a-kind in Canadian history

LEVIS, Que. — Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day is expressing shock at what he calls a “horrific” bus stabbing that he’s calling one-of-a-kind in Canadian history.  Day was reacting to what witnesses say was a savage knife attack on a Greyhound bus in Manitoba that resulted in a person being killed and later beheaded.  Day, in Levis, Que., for a summer planning session of Conservative MPs, says the full weight of the law must be brought to bear on the perpetrator. But he says such an incident is, thankfully, extremely rare - in fact he’s calling it “probably one-of-a-kind in Canadian history.”

Day says he wouldn’t even entertain the notion of registering knives as dangerous weapons, noting that millions of kitchen knives alone are likely sold each year.

The incident happened late Wednesday west of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, but a standoff between the attacker and police lasted into early Thursday.

The bus was traveling along the Trans-Canada Highway from Edmonton, Alberta, to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and was about 45 minutes from its destination when the attack occurred, said Greyhound spokeswoman Abby Wambaugh in Dallas, Texas.

Witnesses told Canadian TV that the attacker was wielding a butcher-type knife. They said the trucker who stopped provided wrenches and crowbars to several of the men, who were able to keep the suspect on the bus until police came. After the standoff, police took the man into custody.
...
“There was a blood-curdling scream. I was just reading my book, and all of a sudden I heard it,” said Garnet Caton, who was sitting in front of the two men. “It was like something between a dog howling and a baby crying, I guess you could say. I don’t think it will leave me for a while.”

Witness interview video here.

The names and/or pictures of the victim and the murderer have not been released yet as far as I can tell. But for identity of the murdering, beheading scumbag who did this, up in Canada about 150 miles northwest of Grand Forks North Dakota ... you know what my question is, and you have already reached the same conclusion I have.  Let’s see if we’re wrong for once.

gang kicked man unconscious while a girl rifled through his pockets.  (Am not posting the video)

The link below will have the stills and the video.  I did not watch the video and only looked at a couple of the still photos.

The awful thing is that this is not an isolated occurrence.

Plan on a visit to Britain anytime soon?  COME ARMED!  Better yet.  Stay Home!

Caught on CCTV: The moment a drunken gang kicked man unconscious while a girl rifled through his pockets

By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 10:32 AM on 30th July 2008

Sickening images released by police lay bare a horrific attack by a teenage gang who kicked a man unconscious on the ground as a woman rifled through his pockets for money.

The graphic images of the town centre attack show the group kicking and punching the 27-year-old repeatedly before Gemma Stafford, 18, is seen stealing cash and cigarettes.

CCTV captured the drunken gang laying into their victim. One of the assailants is filmed delivering a horrific running kick to his head as he lay motionless.

WARNING: This footage contains graphic violence

Stafford, the initial ringleader of the unprovoked assault in Rochdale town centre, was sentenced to 18 months in jail yesterday. The four other gang members were jailed for a total of 13 years and six months last month.

Bolton Crown Court heard the man was targeted as he walked through the town in the early hours of March 15 this year.

Ringleader: Gemma Stafford, 18
Gemma Stafford led the gang as she walked over and shook her hands in an aggressive manner. The group then surrounded him and two of the offenders punched him in the head.

He soon fell to the ground after being repeatedly punched and kicked by the five offenders and was knocked unconscious.

Stuart Shaw, 20, continued to kick him while Stafford rifled through his pockets and stole money and cigarettes, even turning him over to make sure she had checked everywhere.

Just for good measure, Shaw then took one last running kick at the victim’s head before they ran off, leaving him for dead.

When police arrived Stafford claimed she was an innocent bystander who was concerned about the victim. Shaw said he could not remember what had happened because he had drank so much.

The victim was taken to hospital but luckily only suffered minor injuries.

Stafford, of Hilltop Drive, Kirkholt, was sentenced to 18 months after pleading guilty to violent disorder and robbery. She received nine months for each offence to run consecutively.

A police officer said after the case: ‘The scenes on the CCTV are absolutely disgraceful. This girl thought she would juist help herself to this guy’s belongings as her mates gave him a good kicking.

‘He could have been dead or dying yet she could not give too hoots about him. His money and cigarettes wee more important. There’s just no such thing as the fairer sex these days.’

Last month, Shaw, of Bridge Street, Heywood, was sentenced at Bolton Crown Court to four years after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and violent disorder.

Andrew Harbourne, 19, of Clever Street, Burnley was sentenced to four years after pleading guilty to violent disorder and robbery.

Joshua McErlean, 19, of Bury Road, Rochdale was jailed for four years after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, robbery and violent disorder.

A 17-year-old boy was sentenced to 18 months youth detention after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, robbery and violent disorder.

There’s a bit more of the story at the link with photos.  I am not going to post the video or the still shots here.  I just can’t bring myself to go that far.
I don’t feel like a censor nor would I want that kind of responsibility.  But this shit (pardon me) is beyond the pale.
The punishment hahahaha, punishment?  Isn’t that at all.  These pieces of absolute worthless filth should get the very same treatment and more, that they dealt out to the victim here.

Oh joy

Less than 3 miles from where I grew up!

Gosh, the old neighborhood sure must have changed! Strip clubs! Robberies! Hispanics!! Where the hell did any of them come from??

Gunmen rob all-nude Nanuet club

guess they didn’t get much, huh? nyuk nyuk nyuk!!

Two armed men forced their way into an all-nude strip club yesterday morning, tied up employees and stole about $10,000 and jewelry, Clarkstown police said yesterday.

The masked men waited outside Stiletto’s Gentlemen’s Cabaret on Route 59 after the club closed between 3 and 3:30 a.m., police said. When one of the club’s employees went outside to smoke, the two men pointed guns at him and forcibly entered the building at 180 E. Route 59, near the Kohl’s strip mall, police said.

The men, pointing their handguns, forced three men and the female bartender to get down on the floor and told them they were looking for money, police said. They tied up two of the men and the woman. They forced the manager to open the safe, police said.

The men took the cash and the manager’s Rolex watch and chain, police said.

“This appears to have been planned out,” Detective Lt. Charles Delo said. “We believe whoever was responsible has done this type of robbery before.”

After the two robbers left the business, one Stiletto’s employee managed to get free from the binding and called police at 3:40 a.m.

“It took them a bit of time to get loose,” Delo said.

Investigators didn’t know whether the robbers drove off or, if they did, what type of car they used.

One robber was described as Hispanic, 25 to 35 years old, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and 200 pounds, wearing dark clothing, black boots, a ski mask and brown gloves. He held a silver handgun, police said.

The second gunman was described as Hispanic, 25 to 35 years old, about 200 pounds and wearing a dark, fleece, hooded sweatshirt and carrying a black automatic handgun, police said.

Detectives were checking for possible surveillance videos from Stiletto and nearby businesses.

Back in the day my brother used to work right across the street. So how did I find out about this? I read it on a blog, written by a guy who lives in Vermont. Ain’t the internet just wonderful?

LADY FINED $600.00 FOR USING THE WRONG COLOR TRASH BAG.  JOKE?  NO. NOT AT ALL.

The fine was revoked but ......

Trader is fined £300 by council for using black bin bags instead of grey
Story from:  The Daily Mail, England

Nicole Rosbrook was fined for using the wrong coloured bin bags
Customers shopping for clothes at the Charli boutique watched in amazement when two uniformed men marched in and threatened staff with criminal prosecution.

Their crime? Putting out rubbish in the wrong-coloured bin bags.

Council officers announced that the shop in Muswell Hill, North London, would be fined £300 after using black bags because they had run out of the grey version issued by the local authority.

The designer store had been waiting since July 1 for a delivery of new bags, but by the 17th staff decided they would have to put their rotting rubbish out in four standard black bags - a decision which cost them £75 per bag.

Owner Sangita Ibrahim, 47, said: ‘The shop was really busy and they came in here like the Gestapo.

‘Staff were told they would face criminal prosecution and receive a criminal record for the bags. I felt like I was going to be frogmarched away.’

Colleague Nicole Rosbrook said: ‘The two men actually went through the bags, leaving them open and rubbish strewn over the pavement.’

Manager Dora Panagi, 41, added: ‘Muswell Hill has a real pest problem and we had food in the bags in the stock room.

‘We had been waiting two weeks for these grey bags to be delivered so we could put it out.

‘It started to smell terrible so we put it in four black bags and put two of the grey council bags on top so that they would know it was our rubbish and take it.

‘When I came in the next day there was rubbish all over the pavement and I thought that foxes had got to it.

‘Then in walked these two guys looking like policemen with all the badges and the way they dealt with it was horrific.

One said there had been a criminal offence and I didn’t know what he was talking about. My knees were shaking.

She said that when customers tried to intervene they were brushed aside by the officials.

‘Funnily enough the next morning after that happened the bags were finally delivered.’

A Haringey Council spokesman said: ‘We are working very hard with residents to stop people abusing the trade waste collection by using it for their rubbish.

Trade waste is left out in specific bags to ensure we provide paying traders with an efficient service.

The rubbish was clearly not in the correct bags and looked like the many fly-tipping bags our traders find dumped in their waste.

‘Consequently the notice was lawfully issued by our fly-tipping patrol who followed proper procedures.

‘Having investigated the situation with our contractors who collect trade waste and supply the trade waste bags, we will be contacting the shop to arrange cancelling the enforcement notice in this case.’

Council staff at a rubbish tip are to wear head cameras so they can record bad behaviour by members of the public.
Poole Council in Dorset said the move was designed to protect its staff at the Nuffield Household Waste and Recycling Centre after recent cases of abuse and aggression.

4-inch key fob gun used to shoot clubber ‘in row over girls’.

So, the lovely Mr. Henry (see his ugly face on the link) points this tiny gun at some other misfit and BANG. He fires the thing.
The other bleeds because he’s been hit and has a boo-boo and goes to a hosp. to have a bullet removed from his shoulder.
You folks clear on that?

BUT ... the jury .... oh hell.  That’s why I posted this. You read it. Dumb as a box of rox. Just like ours.

Pictured: The terrifying 4-inch key fob gun used to shoot clubber ‘in row over girls’

By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 12:32 PM on 25th July 2008

At first glance it looks like any other keyring used for automatically unlocking car doors.

But this innocent-looking key fob hides a deadly purpose.

Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand it is actually a double-barrelled gun capable of wounding and even killing a man.

The terrifying new escalation of Britain’s gun culture was revealed in a landmark court case in which a clubber who shot a man with the weapon was jailed for nine years.
image

Marcus Henry, 27, fired the double barrelled weapon - which is small enough to fit in the palm of the hand- after being accused of showing ‘disrespect’ in a bar.

Victim Yaw Darko Kwakye, 24, was hit from just three yards and needed surgery to remove a single bullet from his shoulder.

Marcus Henry was jailed today for shooting a man with the key fob gun
Detectives from the City of London Police are now using the unusual weapon for training purposes - but believe there are at least 100 in circulation.

The gun was originally made in Bulgaria as a lifejacket flare gun but criminals have adapted them to fire .25 calibre bullets.

DS Dave Carter said: ‘They are very dangerous weapons, arguably more dangerous than your average handgun because to the casual glance they look like something different.’

Henry denied he was the gunman but was convicted of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a prohibited weapon and unlawful wounding.

image

A jury acquitted him of both attempted murder and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

(see I don’t understand that. he fired the damn gun right? he used gun control to hit his target. so how could they acquit him on the wounding charge?)

Judge Christopher Moss QC told Henry it was lucky his victim had not been killed.

He added: ‘To this day you continue to deny your guilt in this matter.

‘These offences must attract severe prison sentences. Not only did you have the firearm in your possession, it had ammunition loaded into it and you in fact wounded another by firing it at him.’

The Old Bailey heard how Henry and his friend had clashed with the victim’s group inside the Departure Lounge in Crutched Friars Street in the City of London.

Henry was seen chatting to Mr Darko Kwakye’s girlfriend Christine Bennett shortly before the club closed at 4am on December 16 last year.

Prosecutor Mark Heywood told jurors: “There appears to have been a confrontation between the two of them with Darko Kwakye saying ‘you can’t go for other people’s girls. That’s disrespectful’.”

Punches were thrown by Mr Darko Kwakye before the two groups separated.

But Henry waited outside by his friend’s Lexus for the victim and his friends to leave the club and the pair squared up once more.

Mr Heywood said: “Henry was seen to have his hand near his waistband on a number of occasions and was heard to say ‘look how many of you there are, there’s only two of us.

‘He then brought his hand out and in to a straight arm firing position and then aimed in the direction of Mr Darko Kwakye and the others.

‘There was a lot of movement and between two and four sounds like shots.’ The victim’s group at first scattered but then returned to attack the car as Henry and his friend sped away.

‘Mr Darko Kwakye had in fact been hit in the right shoulder, but he didn’t realise it,’ said Mr Heywood.

‘He went down the street and got in to a car with two others. He realised as he was travelling away there was blood on his shirt and a bullet hole. He was in pain and realised what had happened.’ Miss Bennett took the victim to Newham General Hospital where the bullet was removed, the wound was treated and he was released.

Mr Heywood told the jury: ‘In these days of heightened security, particularly in our capital city, if someone wants to carry a weapon it must be concealed

Don’t set dogs on criminals with allergies, police told.  latest example of “namby pamby” policing

Yeah, there’s a lot I can say but I’ll leave that up to the rest of ya.. Besides which, I have a tendency to curse a lot over stupid stuff like this.
Not as bad as what I say to my computer but that’s something else.

batbatbat

Police dog handlers will have to consider whether criminals have allergies or a fear of dogs before conducting searches in what has been described as the latest example of “namby pamby” policing.

By Gordon Rayner
Last Updated: 11:15PM BST 21 Jul 2008

Guidelines being drawn up by senior officers will tell dog handlers they should “avoid offending” people with phobias of animals when dogs are used in drug raids and other investigations.

The rules have been produced amid fears that suspects with medical conditions triggered by the presence of dogs, such as asthma, may file costly compensation claims against the police if they suffer an allergy or panic attack during a police raid.

Dog handlers have also been told to take “cultural sensitivities” into account, though reports that dogs would be required to wear specially-designed boots on their paws during searches of mosques and Muslim homes have been flatly denied.

The plans have been ridiculed in the respected force magazine Police Review, with one columnist citing it as the latest diktat from “the polite police”.

The anonymous sergeant writes: “The traditional shout of ‘stand still or I’ll set the dog on you’ will presumably have to become ‘excuse me, my police dog is quite hairy and might cause alarm as he sinks his fangs into his right thigh. Is that all right with you?’

“The whole point of police dogs is to frighten people rigid, at least those who have just committed a crime and would otherwise make a clean getaway. They should have considered the mental trauma and possible allergic reaction caused by 60lbs of foaming Alsatian clamping its teeth to their extremities before embarking on their criminal escapade.”

A serving dog handler, who asked not to be named, said: “I have never heard anything so ridiculous. What’s next? Sparing people custody because they have a fear of enclosed spaces?

“This is just another example of namby pamby policing laid down by people who haven’t been on the beat in years.”

PC Mike Dermody, a former dog handler with Greater Manchester Police, was among those dismissing the need for guidelines, saying: “I have never encountered an incident where we have offended someone. If there is a person with an allergy, we will put them in one room while we search the rest of the house.”

And PC David Heaps, a dog handling trainer at Derbyshire Constabulary, said dog handlers were already “mindful not to cause offence”.

The controversy arose after Peter Vaughan, the Association of Chief Police Officers’ adviser on dogs, said: “The draft guidelines outline a general principle that forces should consider what steps can be taken to avoid offending people during operations.

“This might include different categories of people such as those with a fear of dogs, for example or asthma sufferers who may be sensitive to dog hair.”

Mr Vaughan, deputy chief constable of South Wales Police, insisted, however, that “in all operations effective policing will take primacy”, meaning dog handlers would not have to take possible allergies into account when tackling violent criminals, for example.

vicious mob attack on police officers

Now see, here again the police who I generally support handled this all wrong.
Pepper spray?  Spray?  NO-NO guys.

THE ONLY WAY IN WHICH TO HANDLE A MOB, IS TO EXTERMINATE IT!

You’d only have to kill a couple dozen using real weapons.  That’s live ammo in case ya forgot.  Anybody bitches about that, you turn your weapons on the trouble makers also.  That’s how you clear a violent mob.  Bang-Bang ur graveyard dead.  Problem solved in seconds.  No paperwork, no lawyers, no civil right groups sticking their noses in.  Those who do, repeat all the above.

Take a peek at the town center where this happened.  This isn’t some inner city ghetto.

Police officer bitten in vicious mob attack ... after asking girl to pick up a piece of litter

Last updated at 4:01 PM on 18th July 2008

Two policemen who were attacked by a 30-strong mob were today recovering from their injuries - with one receiving hospital treatment for a bite wound.

The feral attack was launched after the officers asked a teenager to pick up some litter she had dropped.

One of the policemen required hospital treatment after the attack in Northend, Croydon, South London on Wednesday afternoon.

North End, Croydon, south London: Two officers were set on by a mob, some wearing school uniform, after they asked a teenage girl to pick up a fast-food wrapper she had dropped

Police said that when patrolling officers asked the girl to pick up a piece of litter she did so - but then immediately dropped it.

When they asked her to pick it up again, a friend with the girl reacted aggressively.

A group of up to 30 teenagers and adults gathered around the officers and attacked them. One officer was bitten.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the officers, aged 34 and 29, were now on sick leave suffering from bruising and knee injuries.

A 15-year-old girl was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault. She has been released on police bail.

Two men aged 34 and 38, both from nearby South Norwood, were arrested yesterday on suspicion of assault and violent disorder.

Shopkeepers in the area told today of their horror at the level of violence used against the officers.

T-Mobile phone store manager Shil Mehta said that just before turning on the police the two girls had been fighting each other.

Trouble spot: Shopkeepers in the area told today of their horror at the level of violence used against the officer

‘The attack happened right outside our shop,’ he said. ‘I saw two girls fighting. The officers tried to stop the girls, who were about 15 years old and both were wearing school uniforms, but then they turned on the police.

‘When one of the policemen tried to restrain one of the girls a crowd started to develop around them. I think he was trying to put handcuffs on the girl.

‘There were about 30 people in the crowd at this stage, of all ages. A couple of men aged in their 30s were screaming at the police to let go of the girls.

‘I don’t think they knew the girls, but just saw the police wrestling with them and had a go at the police because they thought they were being heavy-handed.

‘Then one of these men lunged at the officer holding the girl, from behind. I think he tried to punch him in the head - he definitely took a swing. Then the girl tried to run away.

‘At that point the other policeman got his baton out and pepper spray. They managed to get hold of the girl again but by this stage the crowd was huge. I would say about 70 or 80 people were now in the street watching.

‘One of the policemen pinned the girl on the ground because she was maniacally trying to fight him.

‘That’s when the police back-up arrived. There were three or four riot vans, three police cars and two unmarked cars.’

Mr Mehta added: ‘Using batons and pepper spray they managed to disperse the crowd but I have never seen anything like it.

‘I don’t know what happened just before the two girls started fighting. It seemed like the police were already talking to them before they started fighting each other.

‘Then as the police were dealing with them, two blokes waded in and made things a hundred times worse.

‘It really is a sad state of affairs when police are being attacked in a shopping high street in broad daylight. No one is safe, it seems.’

Inspector Simon Ellingham said officers were examining CCTV footage.

Schoolgirl, 12, questioned by police for trying on nail polish (hey. she was wrong but)

Is it me because I’m now an old goat so far over the hill he can’t even see where he’s been?
Or are kids today really dumber in spite of the tech age?

First, I really do think the cops and manager and guard were a bit over the top. Wouldn’t one have been enuff?  The kid wasn’t a criminal really she wasn’t.
Simply non thinking and maybe yeah, a bit stupid.  Honestly people, I really do not think that she thought what she did was wrong.  And that’s a different problem altogether IMHO.

And least you think it’s just Brit kids, no-no.  My wife used to work as a supervisor in K-Mart many, many yrs ago.  Boy did she bring home stories of what customers used to do.  Not just the shoplifters and baddies.  But folks who thought there was nothing wrong in tearing open packages in spite of open displays, and women opening a lipstick package and putting a smear on their lips to see what the color might look like, and then if not liking it simply putting it on the counter and picking up another they found that they did like.  And these weren’t usually teens, surprising

So here finally is the story.

By Caroline Gammell
Last Updated: 11:40AM BST 18/07/2008

A 12-year grammar school girl was held by police for more than an hour and questioned on suspicion of shoplifting after trying on nail polish on one finger in a shop.
Hannah Gilbert painted one fingernail in the peach coloured Revlon varnish at a branch of Boots in Folkestone, Kent, after failing to find a suitable tester.

She was caught by a security guard, questioned by three police officers who checked for criminal records and detained until her parents came to collect her and pay for the polish.

Barry and Cheryl Gilbert said they were read their rights and told their daughter could be forcibly restrained because she was over the age of 10 - even though she had made no attempt to escape.

They criticised the treatment as “heavy-handed” and demanded that the police apologise.

Mrs Gilbert said: “Hannah was scared and crying. The whole approach was very heavy handed.

“I find it incredibly hard to believe this was the most serious incident going on for the police.

“Frankly, this country has gone crazy. This is the sort of thing that just makes me want to pack our bags and leave as soon as Hannah’s finishing her schooling.”

The incident happened earlier this month during a trip to the town centre. Miss Gilbert, who lives 10 miles away in St Mary’s Bay, had only been allowed shopping on her own once before.

The Folkestone School for Girls’ pupil said: “I went into the shop and saw a nail polish which I thought looked alright.

“There were no testers so I put a tiny bit on my thumbnail. The security guard walked up behind me and said I had to pay for it or it would be theft.

“I was really scared. I had no money on me so he said I had to come into the office. “

Mrs Gilbert, a 46-year-old nurse, said: “She was kept for an hour in a small office with the security guard and a manager and the police were called.

“The security guard who caught her was grinning like he had caught a big fish. It was ridiculous.

“At first there were three officers there and when we got there it was just one. The officer told us our rights and that they had the power to forcibly restrain Hannah as she was over the age of 10 - it was completely over the top.

“One officer even told me that if I didn’t pay they would take Hannah in a police van to Folkestone Police station and charge her with theft.

“She’s not the kind of child to do something like that. And who was looking after the shop if the security guard was with my daughter? I would have thought that left them more open to crime.”

Mr and Mrs Gilbert paid the £6.29 price of the polish and pledged never to return to the shop.

A Boots spokesman said: “During the recent event at our Folkestone store we worked with Miss Gilbert and subsequent local law enforcement to ensure an effective resolution was met.

“Mrs Gilbert’s daughter remained on the premises until she was able to be released safely into the care of her parents.

“These safety measures are in place to ensure our customers have a continued safe shopping environment.”

A Kent police spokeswoman said: “Police were called to a store on Sandgate Road in Folkestone by the mother of a 12-year-old girl who had been stopped by shop security.

“No crime was reported and no further action has been taken.”

Just call me Sparky

Man cut power because he ‘enjoyed sparks’

A 27-year-old Avondale Arizona man has been arrested on suspicion of causing a massive power outage last summer in Goodyear’s Estrella community.

The outage knocked out power to nearly 4,000 homes for 19 hours June 18, 2007, when Goodyear’s high reached 115 degrees.

David Limas was arrested July 7 in Avondale at a house on Locus Lane, just east of Central Avenue. Police said they delayed announcing the arrest to allow for additional investigation. The said they think the suspect acted alone.

According to police, officers arrested the suspect on a tip from the public. He reportedly told investigators he cut down the pole because he enjoyed the sparks it made.

Police said Limas was on probation in connection with a May 2006 burglary and copper theft arrest at the time of the outage. He faces one felony count each of arson and aggravated criminal damage.

Roll Over, Bark, and Beg:  From web site, Fred on Everything. A MUST READ!

There isn’t a thing I can add here.  This guy has it nailed right.  Check out his writings.  He’s good!

Oh god. There is no hope.

The other day I glanced at the web site of the Lake Chapala Society, a social club of sorts for expats around Mexico’s Lake Chapala, an hour south of Guadalajara (where I live). Clicking on “Safety,” I found a long list of reasons why you should never, ever use a firearm to protect your home and family. No. See, you might miss, or be scared, or the intruders might take it away and shoot you, and they might be all mad and hurt you when all they wanted was your television. No, the best thing is to let them do what they want, and then maybe they won’t do anything bad to you.

This supposedly was written by a retired cop but, if so, he (or quite possible she, judging by the tone) doesn’t sound like any cop I have known, which is whole lots.. Anyway, his, her, or its advice, is “Leave the guns to people who are trained and prepared to use them.” Which he says he is.

Nuts. To begin with, cops usually know little about guns. They get a bit of training in the police academy, and then once or twice a year go to the range to fire a couple of magazines. Being actually good with a pistol requires putting tens of thousands of rounds downrange. Street shooting, which is what cops do in the unlikely event that they do any shooting at all, requires training of the sort offered by IPSC or, years back, Jeff Cooper and Chuck Taylor.

A few cops will learn on their own. When I went to shoot at the NRA range on Waples Mill Road in northern Virginia, I saw an occasional dedicated cop. But police departments don’t engage in real training because it costs a lot, takes a lot of time, and just isn’t worth it. The average cop never fires his weapon in line of duty. It serves chiefly as a badge of authority.

Smith (I’ll call him or her) implies further that no one who isn’t a cop knows how to use a pistol. He needs to get out more. In the small-town South of my boyhood, everybody had guns. We used them for hunting, for shooting varmints, and for plinking. My father gave me my first rifle when I was eleven in Athens, Alabama. In high school in Virginia, the first day of deer season was a school holiday because the teachers knew they boys would all be in the woods. When I was fifteen, friends and I often went to the dump in Colonial Beach at night to snap-shoot rats.

I later went to a federal fire-arms school at Parris Island in South Carolina. You may have heard of it. So did hundreds of thousands of other kids. The emphasis was on deadly force. At Camp Lejeune we did fire-and-maneuver with live ammo. (Also flamethrowers and 3.5” rocket launchers, though I do not recommend these for home defense.) If Smith were to check the number of men who have gone through the Army or Marines, he would find that very large numbers of people have had training in the use of firearms.

But what I dislike most about Smith’s advice is his advocacy of helpless passivity. It embodies a profound change in American attitudes, which once favored self-reliance. Now it’s reliance on the group. Don’t take primary responsibility for your defense. No, that would be violent, or scary, or macho, and all. No, let the criminals do whatever they want with you, rely on their merciful natures, and call 911 if you survive.

This is exactly what Smith advocates. If I were a criminal, I would love this guy.

His advice is bad. He says, correctly enough, that most intruders want chiefly to steal things. Think a little. At two a.m., you hear a noise and turn on the lights. You find two guys with knives. You can now identify them. They have knives. Focus on this point. Knives, and you can identify them. Do you see where this leads?

If they leave you alive, you will call the cops immediately after they leave. They know this. If they tie you up, well, you are tied up in the presence of two career criminals with knives. This may work for Smith, but I’ll pass. It just isn’t optimal. If they leave you conscious and tied, you will begin shrieking for the neighbors as soon as they leave. The neighbors will call the cops—and you can identify the intruders.

In the real world, criminals are not always interested only in your television. They will accept such side benefits as offer. This engenders fascinating situations. They discover your daughter of sixteen in her bedroom. “Hey, little girl, you’re real cute. Let’s get a better look. Take those pajamas off.” You get to watch. They may or may not choose to leave witnesses.

If you think these things don’t happen, regularly, you have never been a policeman in a big city. A friend of mine, a Chicago cop, tells of arriving at the scene of a break-in. The intruders had beaten the man unconscious and, among other things they did to her, bitten the woman’s nipples off. Literally.

I remember going one night to a hospital with a DC cop to interview a rape victim of fifteen. She was screaming, sobbing, choking, the doctors trying to sedate her. Messed up for life. Smith is right: Don’t have a firearm in the house. It might make them mad. They just want your TV, see.

In Virginia to get a concealed-carry permit, you attend a mandatory class on how to use a pistol. One of the instructors when I did it was a (very competent) female agent of the FBI. She talked to the class, some of whom were women, about rape. She made the obvious point that very few women have the slightest chance of fending off a two-hundred pound deviate perhaps armed with a knife. A small concealed-hammer revolver, fired maybe through a coat pocket, can easily be handled by a woman of ninety pounds. Studies show that a rapist who has been shot several times loses ardor. We’re talking way beyond Viagra.

What is true of intruders is that they don’t want a firefight. When you rack a round into the chamber of a semi-auto, the sound is unmistakable and means only one thing: Someone is preparing to fire. You have to want a television very badly to go against someone who audibly is planning to kill you and audibly has the means.

You can do as Smith wants—let them do it, whatever it is, and then call a qualified professional. Or you can shoot the sons of bitches. Your choice. I don’t care.

100% Certain, no room for misinterpretation, HONOR KILLING in Georgia

It’s here people. We’ve known about it, talked about it, and watched the press try to pretend it was something else. Not this time. No wiggle room at all, all “t"s crossed and “i"s dotted.

Muslim father in Georgia USA kills own daughter to protect “family honor”

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. (MyFOX Atlanta) – A Clayton County man was behind bars Sunday, accused of killing his own daughter.  Police said the father was angry because he felt his daughter was disgracing the family.

Investigators said 54-year-old Chaudhry Rashad was so outraged at his daughter, Sandela Kanwal, and her plans for divorce that he killed her after a heated argument at the family’s home.  Investigators said Rashad confessed to strangling the 25-year-old woman.
...
Rashad was taken to the Clayton County jail.  Police said they interviewed Rashad and he said he killed his daughter as a matter of honor, because he felt her plans for divorce would have disgraced the family.
...
Police said the victim had been in an arranged marriage and hadn’t seen her husband, who lives in Chicago, for months.

So much for assimilation. So much for living in the land of the free. Religon of Peace My Ass. Rope. Rock. Swimming pool full of pig’s blood. Slippery Slopetm ingress ramp. Some assembly required.

And you’re damn right one more bad apple spoils the whole bunch baby. Unless the next item on the news is about enormous islamic rallies in Detroit, Brookyn, and other izzy population centers with tens of thousands of them screaming and freaking out and decrying this, then the tar brush is miles wide and the subjects deserve a thick new application.

Meanwhile in Germany, another one of these murders has caused the folks to debate (!!!) whether moosie immigrants can assimilate. Duh. Hey Klaus, that debate should last about 1/8 of a second. Nein!! No, they can not. No, they will not. Especially when your culture bends over backwards to accommodate their every little whim and complaint. Nobody assimilates if they don’t have to. See England, Dog Paws, Covering Thereof so as not to give offense.

Nothing to see here, move along

A bomb rests in Brooklyn

A bomb-laden van found on a Brooklyn street by a car thief was wired to detonate by remote control, and had likely been sitting there for more than five months, sources said yesterday.

Investigators believe the homemade explosives found Thursday night in the Ford Econoline belonged to Yung Tang, 39, a Chinese national. He has been behind bars since he was caught Jan. 29 in Wallingford, Conn., with nearly identical bombs in his Mazda MPV minivan.

“Based on the manner in which the materials inside the van were constructed, it’s possibly linked to an individual in custody in Connecticut,” said one source.

Also found in the MPV were two silencers, four hollow-point bullets and two radio-controlled detonators.

Yikes. A carbomb, ready to go, just parked there for nearly half a year.

Sources said the homemade bombs inside the Econoline - made of Styrofoam cups, 10-ounce water bottles, cans of WD-40 and five-gallon jugs filled with gasoline - were rigged to go off via a remote car-door opener.

Doesn’t sound like much of a bomb, but it would probably burn pretty well.

A thief who broke into the vehicle as it was parked on 53rd Street near Second Avenue saw the explosives, then drove the van from the mostly residential block to a remote location near the waterfront. The thief, who has an arrest record, then phoned a cop he knew from a previous run-in with the law.
...
The car thief was not expected to be charged.

How about that? There may not be much honor amongst thieves, but this one at least had a lick of common sense. Yeah, let him go this time; he did the neighborhood a favor.

Once in a great while, things do turn out right.

Detectives investigating the horrific murder of two .  (stabbed 243 times)

Right on the front page this morning and scary too.  This’ll be conversation and worry till the sick bastard is caught.  At which time his rights of course will be held sacred (and he knows it) and some shrink will declare him cured after a few years when it will all start again.
That’s my jaundiced view anyway.

French students stabbing: Burglary clue to murder
By Murray Wardrop
Last Updated: 7:45AM BST 04/07/2008

Detectives investigating the horrific murder of two French students at a London flat are examining the theory the stabbing was linked to a previous burglary.

Exchange students Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez, both 23, were stabbed 243 times, tied up, gagged and burnt in one of the most “frenzied, brutal and horrific” murders ever investigated by Scotland Yard.

The pair, described as “two of the brightest students of their generation”, were tortured in an attack that may have lasted for several hours at the flat in New Cross, south-east London.

They were then doused in an accelerant and the bedsit was firebombed in an attempt to hide the evidence.

French students’ murderer has probably killed before
By Duncan Gardham
Last Updated: 5:47PM BST 03/07/2008

The murderer of the two French students is a psychopathic serial killer who has almost certainly struck before and will probably strike again, according to a criminal psychologist.
Dr David Nias, an expert in criminal profiling, said the killer probably knew his victims, planned their murder in detail and tortured them before death.

He added: “The killer will have planned the murders in meticulous detail and rehearsed it many times in his head because part of the fantasy is in the build up.

“What immediately comes to mind is that he would have done this before. Usually the killings would start in a much more gradual way and then there would be a snowball effect in which the murders become more and more extreme. The awful thing about it is that once the killings start, they continue and become more gruesome.”

Well it’s about time

Texas Jury Clears Joe Horn

A Texas man who shot and killed two men he suspected of burglarizing his neighbor’s home cleared in the shootings Monday by a grand jury.

Joe Horn, 61, shot the two men in November after he saw them crawling out the windows of a neighbor’s house in the Houston suburb of Pasadena.

Horn called 911 and told the dispatcher he had a shotgun and was going to kill the men. The dispatcher pleaded with him not to go outside, but Horn confronted the men with a 12-gauge shotgun and shot both in the back.

“The message we’re trying to send today is the criminal justice system works,” Harris County District Attorney Kenneth Magidson said.

Horn’s attorney, Tom Lambright, has said his client believed the two men had broken into his neighbor’s home and that he shot them only when they came into his yard and threatened him.

The suspected burglars, Hernando Riascos Torres, 38, and Diego Ortiz, 30, were unemployed illegal immigrants from Colombia. Torres was deported to Colombia in 1999 after a 1994 cocaine-related conviction.

Sorry you had to go through all of this Joe.
