victim stabbed 56 times and killer let out to attend event after two years. law and disorder

So ya think injustice rules in the USA with regard to the Criminal Justice System?
Ha.  Take a look at this bit of lunatic asylum thinking on the part of authorities here.

If you take the time to read the comments after the article at the link, you will see more evidence of how little public opinion and desire are thought of. And this isn’t new. It’s only the latest in a long line of outrages. And yet many here (on the left of course) still go on and on about the large number of citizens who are “incarcerated” in the USA.  Ignoring that many are not citizens at all. Still though ... this really does beat all.
Is it now okay to say, Only in England?  But then, that wouldn’t be entirely true either. Would it?

I will never, ever understand this kind of thing.

Tough justice? Killer who stabbed love rival 56 times is let out for wedding and a half marathon just two and a half years after being jailed

Karla Biddle, 34, jailed for seven years in 2009 after she killed her ex-fiancé’s new girlfriend
Friend of victim’s family: ‘They are struggling to cope as it is. To see pictures of her enjoying herself so soon after being sentenced for a brutal crime is devastating’

A killer who stabbed her love rival 56 times was at the centre of a prison investigation today after being photographed at a wedding and running a half-marathon.

Karla Biddle, now 34, was jailed for seven years in 2009 after she knifed her ex-fiancé’s new girlfriend Emma Bradshaw in a frenzied attack the previous year.

The family of Miss Bradshaw condemned the sentence earlier this month when it emerged that Biddle is due to be released from prison this week after serving just two years and eight months inside.

But the latest pictures are sure to pile fresh hurt on the grieving family.

They show a smiling Biddle posing in a pink party dress at a wedding in Co Sligo, Ireland, this September. The killer looks on as other guests enjoy a chocolate fountain.

Biddle has also been photographed grinning while running the Birmingham half marathon and joining a Race For Life charity run.

The prison service is now investigating whether Biddle, from Yardley, Birmingham, breached her licence by attending a wedding in the Irish Republic.

Prisoners are not normally given permission to travel overseas while on licence.

If she has been found to have breached the conditions of her licence she would be sent back to prison to continue serving her sentence.

After seeing photos of the killer at the wedding and running events a Prison Service spokesman said: ‘We do not comment on individual prisoners, but if prisoners breach their licence in any way, they will be subject to disciplinary proceedings and are likely to be moved to closed conditions.’

The victim’s devastated family said they were ‘disgusted’ by the photos.

Time To Sanitize The Gene Pool

Philanthropist Lady Nearly Killed By Falling Cart

Laughing 12 year old thugs dropped it 4 stories onto her head

The wealthy Manhattan real-estate agent who was hit by a shopping cart that police say was dropped four stories by two 12-year-olds as she was buying Halloween candy for underprivileged children will “in the best of cases” be in rehabilitation for months, her husband told the New York Post.

Marion Salmon Hedges has been in a medically-induced coma after she was struck in the head by the falling cart on Sunday while walking outside a Target store with her 13-year-old son in East Harlem, the paper reported.

“It’s still too early to tell with neurological issues,” he told the newspaper. “Every year on Halloween, 1,000 kids come to our block from less-privileged neighborhoods and we spend $500 to $600 on candy for them and that’s what she was doing—buying candy for those kids to do something nice for the community.”

The two young suspects were telling jokes and laughing with each other after they were taken into custody, police sources told the newspaper.

“They were just doing it for fun,” one law enforcement source said of the alleged crime.

The suspects were reportedly charged in Family Court with assault as juveniles.

The victim’s father-in-law, Michael Hedges, said prosecutors should “throw the book” at the two boys.

Hedges, a 47-year-old mother of two, works for Prudential Douglas Elliman. The New York Daily News reports that she is a volunteer at the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center and also very active in her church.

The pint-sized perps were smiling, telling jokes and laughing with each other after they were taken into custody, police sources told The Post. At one point, suspect Raymond Hernandez of Harlem started crying like a baby — but clearly only because he got caught, not because he felt any remorse for leaving the victim near death, the sources added.

“They were just doing it for fun,’’ one source said of the horrendous cart-pushing stunt late Sunday afternoon outside the Costco on East 116h Street in Manhattan.

The boys had been part of a group of hooligans tossing Slushees over the 3¹/2-foot high railing of a parking-level walkway outside Target earlier in the day, cops said. Hernandez and pal Jeovanni Rosario, also of Harlem, then allegedly moved on to shoving carts. The pair slammed one cart, and it got stuck on the railing, law-enforcement sources said.

A 14-year-old buddy urged the duo to give it up, but Hernandez was so determined to make sure it went over the edge that he allegedly pushed it again, and it went crashing down onto the 47-year-old mom-of-two as she stood at a kiosk to pay for parking outside Costco with her son, Dayton, the sources said.
They were nabbed after their friend told authorities what happened and police went building to building in their neighborhood looking for them.
...
The two young suspects were charged in Family Court with assault as juveniles. Friends of both boys’ families insisted they’re “good kids.”

“Good kids” my bunghole. Thug scum is more like it.

They were wild 12-year-olds from the projects perched four stories above her on an unguarded walkway, horsing around with a shopping cart. At about 5:40 p.m. Sunday, police said the boys suddenly hurled the cart over the railing — they later told cops they were unaware that Marion Salmon Hedges was in its path. [yeah right]
...
Over at the Washington Houses, there was sadness — but not much surprise — that one of the boys identified in court papers as Jeovanni R. was implicated in the cart attack.

“That boy is the baddest boy in the building,” said his former babysitter, who asked not to be named. “His mom used to say, ‘He’s gonna be my problem, that kid right there.’”

Neighbors said Jeovanni’s mom, Rosemary, used to make ends meet selling homemade food from a cart and now works nights. His stepdad is a bicycle messenger who was recently busted for selling drugs to a narc, they said. Neither was home when a reporter knocked at their door.

“There is screaming a lot” at the family home, a neighbor said. “Screaming and arguing.”
...
Jeovanni’s alleged accomplice was identified as Raymond H. He lives at the Clinton Houses.

“I know what he’s accused of,” a woman at the family home said through the door. Asked if Raymond was guilty, she answered, “He is not.”

“I don’t think he’d intentionally try to hurt anybody,” added neighbor Tyrone Thomas, 26, a security guard who described the suspect as a polite kid. It was probably a stupid dare, a little kid prank, he said.

But other neighbors said Raymond was a terror.

“He s always outside”, said one who declined to give her name. “Truthfully, he s a bad ass kid. He’s very disrespectful. He’s got a bad mouth for a kid 12-years old.”

Absolutely typical: my boy is an angel, he dint do nuttin!  But even in a community known for closing ranks against the police and the press and lying like hell, these charming young urchins were thug enough to elicit some stark remarks. Makes you wonder just how awful they really are.

Meanwhile Mrs. Hedges barely clings to life, and if she lives she might wind up a vegetable. Some thanks for trying to give back and help out, huh?

imageimage Now everyone stand in a circle, hold hands, sing Kumbayah, and blame the designers of the parking garage for not installing mil-spec tear-proof fencing over the openings, then blame the greedy Target corporation for not having an extra 1,000 security guards on site 24-7, and for not foreseeing such a thing and buying shopping carts made from Nerf foam. We certainly must agree that in no way shape or form can we ever hold these poor underprivileged children responsible for their own actions. Why, they had no idea of what they did AT ALL, which is why they thought is was still so funny hours later that they’d nearly killed a woman ( you KNOW they watched the cart fall and saw it hit her ). Why my goodness, we should also blame violent cartoons and video games for their attitude. And the TV show Jackass. And blame Bush, of course!

Like hell. Flog them bloody then set the little fuckers on fire in public and let them burn to death. Then throw the parents (if you can find them) in jail for a decade.

Rural Trailer Trash and Urban Ugliness: Two Tales Of Abuse

Four children were removed from what authorities described as a filthy Nebraska trailer home where a 3-year-old boy and his 5-year-old brother were kept in a wire dog kennel, police said Tuesday.

North Platte officers went to the home late Monday after receiving a call from someone asking that police check on the welfare of the children living there, police Lt. Rich Hoaglund said. When officers went inside, they were met with the stench of urine and found trash and animal feces throughout the home, Hoaglund said.

An officer soon found two boys, ages 3 and 5, in a 30-by-42-inch wire dog kennel.

“They had a small child’s mattress in there, and that’s where both kids were sleeping,” Hoaglund said. “The gate on that door was wired shut.”

The children’s mother, 22-year-old Ashly Clark, told officers she put her boys in the kennel at night to keep them from climbing out of the trailer through a window, Hoaglund said.

A couple — 25-year-old Bryson Eyten and 24-year-old Samantha Eyten — also lived in the trailer with their 8-year-old and 8-month-old children. Hoaglund said those children were not kept in the kennel. Hoaglund said that while the children were living in filthy conditions, there was no evidence to suggest they had been physically abused or were malnourished.

Clark, the Eytens and 20-year-old Lacy Beyer, who police said also lived in the trailer, were arrested Monday night and charged Tuesday with two counts of first-degree false imprisonment, two counts of felony child abuse and misdemeanor child abuse, based on the condition of the house. The children have been placed with state authorities.

Four young adults and four children living in a shit filled double wide, plus pets, with 2 of the kids locked into a dog cage to keep them from escaping. Pretty sick, or just really poor folk who are really bad at parenting and housekeeping being practical? I say psycho.

Meanwhile, back in Philadelphia, the Horror House investigation continues and more information comes to light about alleged ringleader Linda Weston, as her lawyers start trying to play the non copos mentos “she be crazy” card. Crazy like a fox, I’d say. Investigation has also turned up a suspicious death a couple of years ago at another house in Philly Weston was living at, and another one at a previous home in Virginia. Oh, and while the news services help the lawyers play the crazy game, court research shows that she only served 4 years for starving a man to death, the minimum sentence for the third-degree murder she was convicted of.

We obtained court documents obtained exclusively from the criminal courts of Philadelphia and they spell out the startling details of Linda Weston’s 1983 conviction in the starvation death of Bernardo Ramos.
...
The documents include a mix of handwritten and typed notes. One chilling sentence in the case review reads, “ The evidence clearly demonstrated that [Weston] was mentally able to supervise a household. She also appeared to be the ringleader of this conspiracy.”

The papers show why Weston served only four years in a third-degree murder conviction for killing Ramos, who was the boyfriend of her sister, Venus Weston. The records show in 1981 she locked Ramos in a closet for about two months. She fed him only four times and let him out on six or seven occasions.
When Ramos died, she wheeled him in a baby carriage to an abandoned house and dumped him.
...
The files show Weston likely spent two years locked up in a local jail and two more in state prison. On January 15th, 1987 , after serving just four years (her minimum sentence), Weston was paroled. The parole board ordered mandatory intensive supervision and out patient therapy for Linda Weston.
Weston was ordered to take psychotropic meds--drugs for mental illness--and stay out of trouble.

High-ranking sources are now confirming that investigators working on a special task force in this trail of terror are now looking into the death of a Philadelphia woman several years ago to determine if she died under any suspicious circumstances.

The incident several years ago happened in the Lawncrest section of Philadelphia where a woman was reportedly found dead in the basement of a home Weston shared with another suspect in this case.

The news service Reuters has obtained court records from the 1980s [the starvation murder trial] that show doctors believe current Philadelphia House of Horrors suspect Linda Weston was schizophrenic. In court testimony then, Dr. Gino Grosso diagnosed Weston says Reuters, based on a report issued by Judge John Geisz.

“The doctor had performed a psychiatric evaluation on Linda Weston and his report described the defendant as being a mentally retarded young adult suffering from intrinsic brain disease, mainly epilepsy,” Geisz wrote in 1986. “Dr. Grosso also diagnosed the defendant as a schizophrenic.”

The suspected ringleader of an alleged Social Security fraud scheme in which police say mentally disabled people were held captive in a basement may not completely understand the seriousness of the charges against her, her lawyer said Monday.
...
George S. Yacoubian Jr., a lawyer who represents Weston, said after the hearing that he has met with the woman and plans to do a more comprehensive interview to evaluate her mental state.

He declined to comment on if she had a history of mental issues, but said a competency examination would be a good idea.

“I don’t know if she understands what the allegations are,” Yacoubian said outside court.

Oh gag me. Watch, the po’ white trash in Nebraska will get the book thrown at them, while this not-white twisted murdering psychopath felon in Philly will get 6 months in the rubber room and a bottle of sunshine pills.

Oh, in case you were wondering about 3rd degree murder, WiseGeek explains:

Third degree murder is a legal concept that helps distinguish crimes involving the death of a victim by the intent or circumstances of the suspect. Depending on the court, third degree murder may be synonymous with second degree murder or with the charge of manslaughter. In regions that have third degree laws, the definition typically includes murder that occurred while the perpetrator had the intention of harming, though not killing, the victim, or when the perpetrator was intentionally acting with willful disregard for the victim’s life.

Many courts determine sentencing guidelines for crimes based on the severity of the damage caused and the intent of the perpetrator. By dividing a crime by degrees of severity, a court can narrow sentencing guidelines for judges and juries. First degree crimes are typically those that result in the stiffest punishments if proved; in some countries with the death penalty, first degree murder can result in execution.

First degree murder usually constitutes a premeditated murder, or one that involved particular brutality. Second and third degree murder as well as manslaughter cover gray areas of intent and action, leading to considerable confusion over definition. Many courts do not feature a third degree murder statute, preferring to divide homicidal crimes between second degree actions and manslaughter. The United States is one of the few countries that has a third degree murder statute, and even then only in a few states such as Pennsylvania and California.

In Pennsylvania, third degree murder is defined as any murder not covered by the limits of first and second degree crimes. This category often serves as a catch-all for murder crimes that do not adhere specifically to the guidelines for higher crimes, but do contain elements of malice or recklessness. In most regions that feature third degree laws, the definition includes either crimes that were intended to cause harm but not death, or crimes where willful recklessness resulted in death.

OWS mob says NO to redistribution

Occupy Wall Street protesters said yesterday that packs of brazen crooks entrepreneurs within their ranks have been robbing their fellow demonstrators blind, making off with redistributing pricey cameras, phones and laptops—and even a hefty bundle of donated cash and food.

Stealing Redistribution is our biggest problem at the moment,” said Nan Terrie, 18, a kitchen and legal-team volunteer from Fort Lauderdale.

Makes me proud to be an American. It’s gratifying to know that some Americans are still capable of engaging in the private redistribution of wealth. No government assistance required, or wanted.

“I had my Mac stolen redistributed—that was like $5,500. Every night, something else is gone redistributed. Last night, our entire [kitchen] budget for the day was stolen redistributed, so the first thing I had to do was . . . get the message out to our supporters that we needed food!”

First of all, how dare he/she/it have a $5500 Mac. I’ve never owned a Mac that cost more than $1200. Second, if they spent more time engaging in private enterprise, like these private redistributionists, whoever they are, they wouldn’t have to beg their supporters for food.

Redistribution: the politically-correct word for ‘theft.’ grin

Hang Them. Hang Them Now.

I don’t even know where to begin with this story. It’s a horrible tale of depravity, and it gets worse by the hour as more facts come to light. There are creatures that walk among us, passing as fellow humans, that embody pure evil. A quick death is too gentle a punishment for them, but that’s all we can do.

4 Kept In Dungeon For Years For Their Social Security Checks

the ringleader and her assistants, arrested

One of four mentally handicapped people found chained in a Philadelphia basement over the weekend was reported missing in 2005, but the case was closed by police, myFOXphilly.com reported Monday.

The woman found in the basement was identified by myFOXphilly.com as 29-year-old Tamara Breeden. Her family reported her missing in 2005. A Philadelphia detective closed her case last year even though she had not been found. The other three victims were between the ages of 29 and 41. All four victims were said to have the mental capacity of 10-year-olds, making it difficult for authorities to identify them and notify their families.

Three of four of the victims say they were abused and kept captive by the woman charged with kidnapping and falsely imprisoning them.

Knowles was shackled to a boiler and says he was hit by one of the two men arrested with Weston, who’s jailed and can’t be reached for comment.

Dozens of pieces of identification and power of attorney documents were also discovered, indicating a possible wide-ranging fraud scheme, police said Monday.

Investigators are still processing the documents and reaching out to authorities in multiple jurisdictions while they try to find the family of one of the victims rescued Saturday from what police called deplorable conditions, Lt. Ray Evers told The Associated Press.

Evers said Weston is suspected of running a long-standing fraud operation. Authorities say Weston and two other suspects may have been holding the four people found in the basement hostage and collecting their disability checks.

“Without a doubt, this is just the beginning of this investigation,” Evers said.

The victims were rescued from the basement of the northeast Philadelphia apartment building on Saturday after the landlord shined a flashlight behind a steel door that had been chained shut.

The space was too small for an adult to stand up straight and reeked of waste from the buckets the victims used to relieve themselves, according to police.

Four mentally disabled people and three dogs in a shit filled 15x15 cell in a basement. Filth encrusted, on the edge of starvation, and beaten severely repeatedly. And they’d been that way for years. YEARS. Kept so long that the cases were closed on some of them. So that these sick bastards could collect their disability checks. What, is there NO COOPERATION in government? Was all that Patriot Act stuff just smoke and mirrors? HOW HARD CAN IT BE to find these people if their checks are still being issued and cashed each month???

And the story gets worse by the hour.

PHILADELPHIA - Fox 29 has learned Philadelphia horror house suspect Linda Weston might have abused as many as four mentally challenged people for 11 years.

Weston and two others face numerous charges after the four people were found in a sub-basement in a Northeast Philadelphia house on Saturday. Some were reportedly in chains.

Fox 29’s Dave Kinchen says his source believes suspect Linda Ann Weston abused the four mentally challenged people for the 11-year period, holding them as hostages and allegedly stealing their social security checks.

And who is this Weston woman? Why, my goodness, she’s a jailbird, who served 8 years in the can for starving some other man to death!

The ringleader of a gang charged with chaining four malnourished mentally disabled adults in a basement previously served eight years for starving someone to death, it has been revealed.

It’s coming to light that this crew of psychopaths may be part of a larger ring. Let’s hope that this case cracks that egg wide open. From what I can glean, this bunch had moved their prisoners from Texas to Florida, and then north to Philly only 2 weeks ago.

Linda Ann Weston, 51, the alleged ringleader behind the Philiadelphia ‘house of horror chain dungeon,’ was convicted of starving Bernardo Ramos 25, to death after he refused to support her sister’s unborn child, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Police believe the trio may have been part of an interstate conspiracy to obtain the government support checks of mentally disabled people.

The alleged ringleader, Linda Ann Weston, 51, previously served eight years in prison for starving Bernardo Ramos, 25, to death after he refused to support her sister’s unborn child, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Weston’s boyfriend, Thomas Gregory, 47, and homeless man Eddie Wright, 49, were also arrested Sunday. Each suspect was charged with criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, kidnapping, and other related charges.

Late Sunday night, Gregory and Wright were arraigned and held on $2.5 million bail each, while Weston was still being processed, WPVI-TV reported.

Police say they expect more charges to be filed as they continue investigating the trio’s scheme that they believe stretches back at least a year and reaches as far as Florida and Texas.

There is some good news though. ANOTHER missing person has been located, a 15 year old girl kidnapped in Florida. And whaddya know, the suspect is THE SON of one of the three arrested. In other words, kidnapping people and imprisoning them to collect their disability checks IS A FAMILY BUSINESS, with the added thrill of torture and probably sexual abuse thrown in for shits and giggles.

Missing Florida Girl Connected To Horror Case
A 15-year-old girl reported missing in Florida has been found in Northeast Philadelphia. According to Philly.com, Benita Rodriguez was located Monday by police. The girl was last seen at her Palm Beach, Fla., home on July 4th. A Florida television station is reporting that Rodriguez was last seen with the son of one of the suspects in the ongoing house of horrors case here in Philadelphia, Gregory Thomas Jr. Three people have been arrested in that case, including Gregory Thomas Sr.

Thomas and two others are facing a host of charges, including holding four mentally challenged people hostage in the basement of a Philadelphia apartment building. Before moving here on Oct. 3, the suspects had lived in Florida.
...
Near the West Palm Beach home they had lived in before coming here, neighbors say they would see the alleged victims with bruises or other injuries. But they didn’t think the people they lived with had caused them.

The homeowner says Weston had several disabled children living with her in the home. The homeowner also says the suspects left $50,000 worth of damage when they were evicted in June.

This story gets more complex by the days. Police are still finding out new facts, new evidence and new twists in this alleged Social Security scam and creepy kidnapping of mentally-challenged people.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey says the case likely goes well beyond the four victims found. It could include as many as 50 more, for whom documents have been found in Weston’s possession. Some may be missing. Some may have died and been dumped somewhere.

The four victims were found Saturday by the landlord. They were locked in the sub-basement of the Tacony apartment building. On Monday, police gave the media its first inside that building’s “dungeon” basement, where the four were kept for 10 days. One of them was chained to a rusty old boiler.

Reporters noted the lack of light, the lack of fresh air, and that the bucket that had been used by the four as a bathroom had not been emptied or moved.

“It’s inhumane. It’s terrible. And for someone to do that to another human being is very, very disturbing,” Ramsey said outside the building. “… There is some indication that, as law enforcement or human services or some … government agency got close, they would move and change location. So that, literally, could keep this going on for – well, it did, for years. We just don’t know how long some of these individuals have been with her: one individual, sometime earlier this year; another, maybe as long as five or six years.”

50 others? Going on for years? Neighbors who saw the abused and never said a word? This is just the tip of the iceberg. There have to be more people involved than just these 3. How many thousands of other missing are being held as slaves, or worse, so that some sick creeps can steal their pitiful checks? Is there some kind of national network of psychopaths? An Idiot’s Guide To Dungeons For Fun & Profit? A slaver’s union? How is it that our super duty all-knowing government continues to send out checks for these missing people, but no red lights go off when those checks get cashed?

And how is it that you can starve a man to death for revenge and only get 8 years in jail? That’s murder by torture, and should carry the death penalty or at least life imprisonment.

More links in the comments section, and those links have plenty of pictures and videos. This is beyond appalling. I don’t know how to respond, but it involves pitchforks, torches, and bayonets.

I must be reading this wrong

Drug Smugglers Dig Tunnels Under AZ metered parking spaces

DHS solution: remove the parking meters

In the latest innovation uncovered by law enforcement, smugglers in the border town of Nogales, Arizona were bringing drugs into the U.S. for the cost of a quarter.

The parking meters on International Street, which hugs the border fence in Nogales, cost 25 cents. Smugglers in Mexico tunneled under the fence and under the metered parking spaces, and then carefully cut neat rectangles out of the pavement. Their confederates on the U.S. side would park false-bottomed vehicles in the spaces above the holes, feed the meters, and then wait while the underground smugglers stuffed their cars full of drugs from below.

In all, U.S. Border Patrol agents found 16 tunnels leading to the 18 metered parking spaces on International Street. The pavement is now riddled with neat, symmetrical patches.

The city, advised by Homeland Security, has agreed to remove the parking meters. Nogales stands to lose $8,500 annually in parking revenue, plus the cost of citations.

Yeah, that’ll fix things just fine.

Eric, the bus is coming for you

Issa: Holder was briefed on Fast & Furious

Emails show White House was in the know ages ago

Holder: my dog ate my homework I don’t read all my briefings

Pretty much proof that he flat out lied to a congressional investigation. Or else he’s utterly incompetent. Or both!

CBS News: Documents reveal that Holder received briefing on Fast & Furious in July 2010

image

“ ... straw purchasers are responsible for the purchase of 1,500 firearms that were then supplied to Mexican drug trafficking cartels.”
No code words or euphemisms there. Nice and specific. And yet Eric Holder, upon discovering that 1,500 guns had been “supplied” to Mexican drug cartels in an operation managed by the ATF, apparently didn’t demand a full explanation. Fancy that.

Go read the story at Hot Air if you’d like.

As we’ve said from the very beginning, this goes all the way to the top. ALL THE WAY. Guess Obama’s “under the radar” plan to subvert the Second kind of blew up on him. Or would that be “backfired” if we stick with the bus terminology?

As far as I’m concerned, this is a major major felony concocted, run by, and screwed up by, the entire top of the DOJ/DHS pyramid. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Fast & Furious: High Crimes & Misdemeanors that should topple a government

Media reaction: Yawn. No story here. So, how about those Yankees?

This is objectively the most important political and legal story in America right now.

But despite the revelations from of documents and testimony obtained by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and repeated calls for full disclosure from senators and congressmen, mainstream media organizations have done everything in their power to bury the scandal. This can only be viewed as a partisan media’s attempt to protect a criminal executive branch.

The Gunwalker conspiracy is the kind of story that journalists dream of breaking their entire careers. It is now in the palms of their hands: a story in which they can make a difference, take down the evil and corrupt, and ensure justice is served.

Instead of reporting, however, they are complicit. They have chosen to acquiesce to a clear and obvious evil, an aberration of our most basic values. They are no longer watchdogs, but docile sheep.

Soylndra scam? Scandal? Crime? Crony money laundering scheme? Just plain stupid investment? Never fear, Obama will do it all over again, TWICE AS HARD.

I guess that pesky Solyndra scandal won’t be deterring the corrupt president from doling out more of your money. Why should Solyndra stop him? It’s not as if many in the media are even reporting it.

Facing a Friday deadline, the Energy Department has approved two loan guarantees worth more than $1billion for solar energy projects in Nevada and Arizona.

Energy Secretary Steven Chu said the department has completed a $737 million loan guarantee to Tonopah Solar Energy for a 110 megawatt solar tower in Nevada, and a $337 million guarantee for Mesquite Solar 1 to develop a 150 megawatt solar plant in Arizona.

The loans were approved under the same program that paid for a $535 million loan to Solyndra Inc., a now-bankrupt solar panel maker that has become a rallying cry for Republican critics of the Obama administration’s green energy program.

I’m pretty close to giving up here. “All the news that fits ... our agenda” has never been more true.

Flush the government. Send all the reporters to jail. No textbooks allowed in schools that were written less than 40 years ago. It’s long past the 9th inning IMO.

Another unenforced law

Here’s a link to a story I saw in the MD paper I just linked to for the stink bug post.

Ospreys are raptors, fish hunting birds that live along the coast. For many years their numbers have been in steep decline, placing them on the Endangered Species list for most of my lifetime. In the past two decades they have started making a comeback up and and down the Atlantic coast, and are seen by many people as a bellwether of environmental pollution levels.  Their decline was a strong factor in the whole DDT ban thing. Although ospreys are off of the ES list now, it is still a significant federal offense - a $15,000 fine minimum - to hunt, disturb, trap., poison, or molest these birds or their nests.

40 years of human assistance has also helped these birds get their population back up to somewhere near it ought to be. People get together up and down the coast to build nest platforms for them and sometimes even set aside low impact “osprey zone” areas. Ospreys do not live here all year; they fly to South America for the winter. Once outside the USA they are no longer protected.

There has been a pair of breeding ospreys out at the end of a pier in Anne Arundel County for more than half a decade now, watched over and written about by author Janie Suss.

The female osprey, Olive, was recently shot. Dead. On purpose. By two boys with BB guns. For shits and giggles. The male got away, but this year’s clutch of eggs was lost. Caught in the act by the author, the boys - who knew about ospreys and even knew these two birds by name - confessed. She called the police and had them arrested. Last week all 5 charges against the youths were dropped.

Read more about it here, or break the news softly to your children if you are one of the many parents who has read Oscar and Olive Osprey to your children.

As the osprey head south this year, we say goodbye forever to one special bird: Olive Osprey.

Like many of her species, she was shot. Not over Cuba or the Dominican Republic, where fish farmers consider osprey birds of prey. Olive was shot as she sat on her eggs in her nest in Southern Anne Arundel County, where she had been welcomed and had gained celebrity.

Her killers were neighborhood boys.

The Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 prohibits such killings, and imposes a maximum penalty of $15,000 and 6 months in jail for each offense, even though they are misdemeanors ... and such penalties have been handed out in the recent past.

Ok, maybe you can’t fine children thousands of dollars for birdicide or put them on the chain gang, but they shouldn’t have walked off scott-free. Fine the parents perhaps? Something. Why bother to have laws if they aren’t going to be enforced? Heck, the EPA agents are armed. What on earth for, if not for things like this?

Moonbats stole Moon rock!

You just can’t make this stuff up:

A long-lost, highly valuable Moon rock brought back from the Apollo 17 mission has turned up in the files of Bill Clinton.

The rock was one of 50 presented to each state, and was given to Arkansas while the ex-president was governor. The rock, worth millions of dollars, had been missing since at least 1980 until an archivist found it in old gubernatorial papers. Bobby Roberts, director of the Central Arkansas Library System, told Reuters the archivist opened a box previously archived as “Arkansas flag plaque.” The rock and a state flag were originally affixed to the plaque, but the rock had fallen off and the plaque had been misplaced.

“The moon rock, which is in a plastic container, had fallen off the plaque,” Roberts said, explaining that the rock was at the bottom of the box. “The archivist immediately knew what he had discovered.”

Hmmm, 1980. If my memory serves, Clinton was the poster ‘Boy Governor’ in 1979. I remember because GEO magazine had him as a feature story. I was a freshman at college then. GEO made him sound like God’s gift to Arkansas. So he stole it during his first year as governor. Interesting.

Source.

No doubt Sandy Berger sneaked it out in his socks.

D’oh!!!

The Brothers Grimm Griff

Robber shoots himself while trying to pull handgun

LANCASTER CO (PA)—A Lancaster County man shot himself in the leg while trying to pull a handgun on his victim during a robbery, deputies say.

The shooting happened at 5267 Pleasant Plains Road around 11:30 a.m. Upon the arrival of deputies, Darick Mcgriff, 22, was found at his house, 3707 Fork Hill Road, with an apparent gunshot wound to the leg. He was there with his brother Joel McGriff, 26. About 100 yard away, other officers met a robbery victim.

After a detailed investigation it was determined that Darick and Joel McGriff approached the victim on Pleasant Plains Road and went around to the side of the house with him, according to a release from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. Darick McGriff then demanded that the victim give him the property in his pockets. Darick McGriff took a quantity of cash from the victim and demanded additional property. Darick McGriff then attempted to pull a handgun from his pocket and accidentally shot himself in the leg.

Both the McGriff’s fled the scene. Both have been charged with armed robbery. Darick McGriff was also charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

The victim was uninjured during the incident, and both McGriff brothers remain incarcerated awaiting a bond hearing.

I think he’d better sue the gun company right quick. Pesky pistols, always going off when you yank them by the trigger. Product liability!!!

Better Late Than Never

Georgia Executes Inmate Troy Davis

Georgia executed Troy Davis on Wednesday night for the murder of an off-duty police officer, a crime he denied committing right to the end as supporters around the world mourned and declared that an innocent man was put to death.

...

Davis was declared dead at 11:08 p.m. The lethal injection began about 15 minutes earlier, after the Supreme Court rejected an 11th-hour request for a stay.

“Justice has been served for Officer Mark MacPhail and his family,” state Attorney General Sam Olens said in a statement.

...

Hundreds of thousands of people signed petitions on Davis’ behalf, and prominent supporters included an ex-president and an ex-FBI director, liberals and conservatives. His attorneys said seven of nine key witnesses against him disputed all or parts of their testimony, but state and federal judges repeatedly ruled against him—three times on Wednesday alone.

...

Davis’ supporters staged vigils in the U.S. and Europe, declaring “I am Troy Davis” on signs, T-shirts and the Internet. Some tried increasingly frenzied measures, urging prison workers to stay home and even posting a judge’s phone number online, hoping people will press him to put a stop to the lethal injection. President Barack Obama deflected calls for him to get involved.

“They say death row; we say hell no!” protesters shouted outside the Jackson prison before Davis was executed. In Washington, a crowd outside the Supreme Court yelled the same chant.

I am not familiar with the details of this case at all, but if what Ann Coulter writes about it is even reasonably accurate, they had him dead to rights.

It’s nearly impossible to receive a death sentence these days—unless you do something completely crazy like shoot a cop in full view of dozens of witnesses in a Burger King parking lot, only a few hours after shooting at a passing car while exiting a party.

That’s what Troy Davis did in August 1989. Davis is the media’s current baby seal of death row.

After a two-week trial with 34 witnesses for the state and six witnesses for the defense, the jury of seven blacks and five whites took less than two hours to convict Davis of Officer Mark MacPhail’s murder, as well as various other crimes. Two days later, the jury sentenced Davis to death.

Now, a brisk 22 years after Davis murdered Officer MacPhail, his sentence will finally be administered this week—barring any more of the legal shenanigans that have kept taxpayers on the hook for Davis’ room and board for the past two decades.

It has been claimed—in The New York Times and Time magazine, for example—that there was no “physical evidence” connecting Davis to the crimes that night.

Davis pulled out a gun and shot two strangers in public. What “physical evidence” were they expecting? No houses were broken into, no cars stolen, no rapes or fistfights accompanied the shootings. Where exactly would you look for DNA? And to prove what?

I suppose it would be nice if the shell casings from both shootings that night matched. Oh wait—they did. That’s “physical evidence.”

Now the media claim that seven of the nine witnesses against Davis at trial have recanted.

First of all, the state presented 34 witnesses against Davis—not nine—which should give you some idea of how punctilious the media are about their facts in death penalty cases.

I guess the news story quoted here, from Fox News, is their liberal bias shining through, what with them being all “fair and balanced”. 34 witnesses not 9? Oh, uh huh, “key” witnesses ... more important than the other ones ... and the “key” part is decided by whom? Riiiiiight. Crivens, the guy’s own friends saw him do it and testified as much. And the shell casings from both shootings matched. And Davis himself disallowed the recant testimony of 2 of those waffling witnesses!

I think this may be another case of blacks being above the law because they are black, and therefore allowed to get away with anything (like OJ) because other blacks were mistreated in the past. Therefore even arresting one is raaaaaacist. Um, no, that’s not how it works.  But wait! Hold on a second!

With death penalty opponents so fixated on Davis’ race—he’s black—it ought to be noted that all the above witnesses are themselves African-American. The first man Davis shot in the car that night was African-American.

Now that makes a whole new kettle of fish, doesn’t it? Or does it? Black guy commits a crime against another black guy, a whole passel of black people witness it and testify, and the jury who convicts him is more than half black. Guess we’ve got to put the Race Card back in the deck until next time. Ah, if only it was Oprah Winfrey pointing all this out, instead of lily white fish belly pale Ann Coulter. Then it would all be Ok, right?

One For Peiper

Peiper is on vacation, so I’ll make a few posts on his behalf. This one is right up his alley.

Traveler Plague Spreads Across Britian

Dale Farm gypsies start up ‘illegal’ new site

TRAVELLERS from the illegal Dale Farm site are setting up a new camp 60 miles away in Luton.

At least 20 caravans have been taken to a picturesque park in the Bedfordshire town — and travellers said up to 40 more would soon arrive.

Council chiefs in Luton said they had started eviction procedures — as the travellers continued to fight moves to evict them from the Dale Farm site in Basildon, Essex.

One of the movers warned: “There’ll be 40 more caravans coming from Dale Farm. We have nowhere else to go.”

Caravans began arriving at Stockwood Park, a 100-hectare site near the M1, on Monday evening. One man was allegedly seen pulling up in a mobile home and using boltcutters to break a lock on park gates.

Cars dropped off caravans in the park before heading off to pick up more, locals said.

One [local resident] called police but said it took an hour for officers to show up.

The resident said: “We don’t want Dale Farm’s problems here. The police and council should have responded quicker to stop them getting on the land.”

Here we go again. The worthless Plod hamstrung by PC, and outnumbered by the violent, slave holding scum and their git, take their bloody time before showing up and doing nothing.

Travellers at the new camp — 60 miles from the Dale Farm site at Basildon, Essex — were unrepentant yesterday as their kids played happily in the park.

On Monday the High Court granted the Dale Farm families an 11th-hour reprieve, banning bailiffs from clearing the barricaded camp until Friday.

Irish traveller Flint Devons, 29, who lived at Dale Farm for seven years, said the threat of eviction had made him ill.

He said: “I moved to Luton rather than wait for the bailiffs because my health was suffering.

I can end your suffering, mate. Somebody pass me that SMLE and it will all be over in just a second. With a bit of luck I can stop the whole lot of you from suffering too.

Stockwood Park, near M1 junction 10, has a rugby club, football pitches, 18-hole golf course, riding stables and children’s play area.

Luton Borough Council yesterday began legal action to remove the travellers from the park.

A spokesman said: “The council was made aware of the encampment and immediately started the standard legal procedure for eviction. We expect to move them on very soon.”

Good luck with that. They’re here to stay, so you can kiss all those local amenities goodbye. Best to move the horses now before they’re stolen or turned into stew.

you can not steal your property from the thief who took it, victim is advised

Darn, where’s the time go?  Need more. Like another month. At least.

You’ll recall the posts with regard to how a person’s home ain’t their castle these days.  Welcome to 21st century Britain, where apparently some ppl of some small authority, don’t think his stolen bike is his either.  Nope.  It’s the property of the thief.  Think I’m kidding?
Here. Take a look.

Bungling police tell victim of bike thief ‘you can’t take it back, the crook could sue you’ ... and then let thief escape

Cyclist spotted his stolen bicycle in the High Street after it was stolen from his shed

Police botch CCTV operation to catch robber

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

A cyclist whose bike was stolen was flabbergasted when bungling police stopped him from taking it back - and then let the thief ride off on it.

Simon Turner, 48, spotted his bicycle chained up on a busy high street as he shopped with his six-year-old son, Giles.

But after he approached a Police Community Support Officer in his home town of Maidenhead he was told not to break the lock and retrieve his stolen bike.

The PCSO told him it was not his property and the crook would be able to sue him if he took it.

Mr Turner was told police would monitor the area using CCTV and catch the criminal.

But the next day he heard the thief had slipped through their fingers and had walked off with his bike for a second time.

Two men, who could not be identified, had unlocked the bicycle and taken it away from the high street in Maidenhead, Berkshire.

Mr Turner said: ‘I’m absolutely appalled. The worst thing was, when we found the bike, we had to explain to Giles why we had to leave it and let the thief get it.

‘He was scared that maybe his bike would be stolen as well.’

The black and burgundy Universal bicycle - which was stolen from his shed in early August - had cost him £55 second hand, and he had made various improvements.

When he saw it chained up outside a McDonald’s in the town centre later that month, he even offered the PCSO £5 to pay to replace the lock so that he could get his bike back. But he was advised that the thief could sue for damage.

He said: ‘I gave details of a hidden technical modification. She looked and there it was, clearly proving it was my bike.

‘I said I’d go home and get some tools and remove it but they said we couldn’t remove the bike.

‘They said, “you’ll be damaging the lock and it’s not your property”.

‘The PCSO was taking advice from another officer over the phone and was just as incredulous as I was.’

Mr Turner, who runs a home tuition company, then had to sit back and wait while the police allowed the thief to get away.

‘I was tempted to hang around and see who came to take it back but I was with my son and it wouldn’t have been practical,’ added Mr Turner, who lives with wife Anu in Maidenhead.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: ‘The PCSO was acting on the advice of a colleague and we’ve yet to establish exactly what happened.

‘However, it does appear the incorrect advice was given to her and there were other steps that could have been taken at the time.

‘We’d like to apologise for this mistake and reassure the gentleman concerned that we are doing all we can to track down the person or people who stole his bicycle.’

The Citizens Advice Bureau advises that police can seize goods if they have reasonable grounds for believing they have been obtained illegally, or are evidence in relation to an offence.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
