Madness!

If you live in Colorado and have to serve on a jury, take plenty of comic books to read but leave your Bible at home. This message brought to you by the Colorado Supreme Court.

DENVER Mar 28, 2005 — The Colorado Supreme Court on Monday threw out the death penalty in a rape-and-murder case because jurors had studied Bible verses such as “eye for eye, tooth for tooth” during deliberations.

On a 3-2 vote, justices ordered Robert Harlan to serve life in prison without parole for kidnapping 25-year-old cocktail waitress Rhonda Maloney in 1994, raping her at gunpoint for two hours and then fatally shooting her.

The jurors in Harlan’s 1995 trial sentenced him to die, but defense lawyers discovered five of them had looked up Bible verses, copied them down and talked about them while deliberating a sentence behind closed doors.

The Supreme Court said “at least one juror in this case could have been influenced by these authoritative passages to vote for the death penalty when he or she may otherwise have voted for a life sentence.”

Guns, Cops, Criminals and Political Correctness

Hey, this is a great piece by John Lott.  Given that we’ve had three attacks by sick-os in the past several weeks, all using guns, we can expect that the gun grabbers on the left will be screaming for more gun restrictions.

Yet Mr. Lott makes some great observations.

The major factor determining success is the relative strengths and sizes of the criminal and officer. In particular, when officer strength and size requirements are reduced because of affirmative action, each one-percent increase in the number of female officers increases the number of assaults on police by 15 to 19 percent.

That’s what political correctness with police got you in Atlanta.

All three attacks took place in areas where gun possession by those who did the attack as well as civilians generally was already banned — so-called “gun-free safe zones.”

Yep, as he said, it’s like you putting a big sign in front of your house saying your home is a “gun-free zone.” How long before you’re cleaned out?  or killed?

He also found that:

when states passed right-to-carry laws, these attacks fell by 60 percent. Deaths and injuries from multiple-victim public shootings fell on average by 78 percent.

more than two million times each year that Americans use guns defensively are never discussed — even though this is five times as often as the 450,000 times that guns are used to commit crimes over the last couple of years.

This is good stuff.  Read it.

Another Reason For Mandatory Registration

Yep, here’s another reason why I believe HIV positive people need to be on a register like sex offenders and pedophiles.

Poor Canuckistani military guys.  Maybe as bit more saltpeter in their food is required.  It might keep them safer.

Equal Justice

Looks like the Mexican drug cartels like to use pits of acid to dissolve the bodies of those they kill.

We should do the same to those we catch.  Hell, too bad the Minutemen who will be patrolling the borders next month don’t have a few of these sitting around.  They can dump the illegals they catch in there.  Hell, maybe even those crooked Mexican cops and military who shoot at our side.

And No One Saw It Coming?

This is the monster that killed all those people in Minnesota.

Go here to read what The Smoking Gun has on him.

Go here for a really disturbing snapshot of what this punk was all about.

All the while, no one noticed anything wrong?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Well, I guess to have committed him would have been a violation of his “civil and human rights” which the ACLU would have sued someone for doing.  Can’t do a thing until they actually manifest violence.

The availability of all this glom and doom/Goth crap on the internet will result in even more incidents like this.
I wonder how many parents bothered to check where their kids go, what profiles they have, etc.?

Not many, eh?

Seriously, though, what should be done?

Pow-Wow The Indian Boy Goes Off The Rez

I can already hear the gun grabbers demanding stricter controls now.

Yet all that was needed was just ONE person at that school with a pistol and this would have been over with quickly.

Another kid goes wild and shoots up a school and his grandparents.

Total count?  10 dead. About 15 wounded.

What do you want to bet drugs or alcohol were involved?

A Poeme For Scott

With sincere apologies to John Masefield and his poem “Sea Fever” ....

I must go down to the bay again, to the place where I must die,
And all they ask is a tall tree and a rope to hang me by,
And of Laci’s kiss and Conor’s laugh I’ll never be partaking,
With a grim smile on my dead face, no more hearts will be a-breaking.

Monumental Occurrence

For the first (and probably) last time in the history of this blog, I have to agree with the Mad Mullahs in Iran and hereby give my seal of approval for their actions ....

Child Rapist, Murderer Hanged in Iran

PAKDASHT, Iran - A young man convicted of raping and murdering 16 boys was lashed 100 times, and then hanged Wednesday in front of a large, angry crowd who pelted him with stones and scuffled with police.

Mohammed Bijeh, 23, confessed in court to raping and murdering the children, between March and September 2004. Iranian media have said Bijeh burned the bodies of his victims, all boys between 8 and 15.

Bijeh was sentenced to one death sentence for each murder he confessed and 100 lashes of the whip for the rapes.

After the flogging, a rope was put around Bijeh’s neck and attached to a hook on a crane. The crane’s arm jerked upward and Bijeh’s body dangled, drawing applause from the crowd.

Barbarous? Not in my opinion, but that’s just me. I could be wrong. In view of the nature of the crimes, I agree with the penalty. Of course, even in Iran, they have Barking Moonbat liberals ....

But Dariush Mehraban said public hangings only promote violence.

“Many criminals have been hanged, but offenses have never reduced. It’s an ugly scene that a human being is hanged even if he has committed many crimes. Revenge is not the solution,” said Merhraban, who watched the hanging.

Mehraban would be right at home in Massachusetts or California or in the ACLU offices. Personally, I think we need to start doling out this kind of punishment (for this kind of crime) here. It’s not “cruel and unusual punishment” as far as I’m concerned. It’s a damned good deterrent.

Breaking News!

Bernard Ebbers Guilty on All Counts

NEW YORK, March 15, Washington Post—Former WorldCom Inc. chief executive Bernard J. Ebbers was found guilty of conspiracy, securities fraud and making false filings with regulators for his role in a massive accounting fraud that led to the downfall of the nation’s second largest telecommunications firm, costing millions of investors billions of dollars.

The jury of seven women and five men held Ebbers, 63, responsible for filings that boosted WorldCom’s reported earnings and hid the fact that its business was deteriorating for nearly two years. WorldCom filed for bankruptcy protection in July 2002, later announcing it had uncovered $11 billion in fraudulent accounting entries.

The jury has been deliberating since March 5. I bet he gets more than five months house arrest, don’t you? It looks like several decades in the slammer with Big Bubba for a roommate. Of course, if the Democrats were in power, he’d simply buy them off, get a Presidential Pardon and retire to the south of France. As for WorldCom, they merged with MCI which was eventually bought by Verizon. Got all that?

More Bad News For Atlanta

Last night a DeKalb County policeman arrested a murder suspect, handcuffed him and placed him in the back of the patrol car .... minutes later the suspect had wriggled the cuffs from behind his back to the front and pulled out a concealed gun and started firing. Fortunately, another cop saw the suspect firing at the cop and offed him. Dead, that is. The first officer is under investigation for poor search techniques.

To make matters worse, Tom Dass-hole is joining a law firm there.

It never rains but it pours in Atlanta. Sometimes it seems this city has nothing but bad luck. Why else do you think the Braves play there?

For You Pink Floyd Fans

The song titled, “Careful with that axe, Eugene”, takes on significantly different meaning when viewed in this light.

And Brits say they banned guns to reduce crimes? Man is a violent creature.  Take away the guns and he will use a knife.  Take away the knife and he will use a bow and arrow.  Take away the bow and arrow and he will use an axe.  Take away the axe and he’ll use a shovel.  Take away the shovel and he’ll use a rock.  Take away the rock and he’ll use a stick.  Take away the stick and he’ll use his hands.

You get the picture?

The Continuing Saga In Atlanta

By now most of you are sick of reading/hearing/seeing reports of that asshole Nichols who shot the judge and four others before being caught.

Now it appears the people watching the video cameras were asleep at the wheel and the cops were looking for a car that was sitting in the court building’s parking lot.

Heads will roll on this, I am sure.

But other than the political correctness that everyone will run to defend---such as a female going into a changing room alone so the prisoner could change clothes or a female escorting said prisoner with no back up or assistance---the solution will be that to fix this Atlanta will say they need lots more cops.  And then hire all women so they can put 4 women on every criminal instead of making police work a man’s job---as it should be.  This crap will happen over and over, without end, until we take serious action, not assigning more women to the situation.

Here’s what I want to know and so far have heard nor read anyone else mention it:  if the reason prisoners change from shackles, cuffs and prison garb to a suit is to keep a jury from being “prejudiced” against that person, then why are they being put into fancy suits and ties if not to try and persuade PREJUDICE the jury into thinking they are “normal, law abiding people who are innocent until proven guilty?”

Why is it prejudicing a jury one way but not the other?

Hmmmmm?!?!?!?!

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
