Comments 140 | Have Your SaySameh El-Shahat argues that George W Bush has been the most under-rated president… ever.
So, the hot news now is Barack Obama.
Obama this, Obama that… Naturally, it is very laudable that the United States may have chosen to look beyond the issue of race and opted for a person purely on the merit of his character. But what will they find?
The usual hot air that Washington politicians seem to have made their own. Mr Obama is no different. We’re just too politically correct to say that the only thing refreshing about him is his colour. So we say he’s “bipartisan”, or he’s a “uniter”.
Whatever happened to leadership and honesty as presidential traits? I happen to believe that the only leader in the West to have these two admirable qualities in droves is the leader of the free world: George W Bush.
Yes, we’ve all heard the Bushisms and laughed at them but do you really think somebody supposedly that thick can make it to the top of the most sophisticated political system the world has ever seen?
No, and that is because Mr Bush is far cleverer than most of his predecessors. He may not have been a Rhodes Scholar, but he has the ability to reach out to his people and read them.
Take the Iraq war for example. OK, so he got us into Iraq in the first place. But for Pete’s sake, he’s the leader of the world’s only superpower. He needs to take decisions, even if sometimes they have nasty consequences - which is far better than we do in Europe, where we enjoy dithering not as a means to an end, but as an end in itself.
Something had to be done about Iraq and our government was all for attacking it too. So let’s not blame G.W. for the war.
And when things did go wrong in Iraq, and there were calls to pull out, Mr Bush just followed his own counsel and doubled his bet with the Surge.And he was right because Iraq is in a relatively better shape today than it ever was and Al Qa’eda is a shadow of its former self in that country.
This is a man who has the courage of his convictions.
Let’s not forget how Europe does wars.
Usually we wait and wait until the enemy starts attacking, then we let them win a bit, then we fight until we are tired, then we just call the US to come over to clean our mess.
That is what happened in WWI, WWII, and the Balkans.
Bush is just showing us what a bunch of dangerous ditherers we are and we hate him for it. Naturally.
And the Olympics. Bush said right from the beginning that he’s going to the opening ceremony because he saw the whole boycott thing as silly and counterproductive.
Compare that with Sarkozy who has changed his mind twice so far and to Gordon Brown who, well… err.
Not much leadership from Europe here, as usual, just doublespeak. Once again, it is to Bush that we look for leadership.
Bush may not have the slickness of his predecessor, but he is a man you can trust and who prefers to tell it like it is.
This is refreshing, and very scary for us who are used to our politicians always talking grandly about principles and hiding behind political mumbo-speak.
The fact is you guys hate Mr Bush because he is not a hypocrite and you are used to hypocrites as your leaders. We hate what we don’t understand.
Yes, yes, all you bleeding heart liberals are cringing out there. I can just hear you. But the fact is, Mr Bush has had to take some very tough decisions and the world needs people who can not only talk but also act tough and admit mistakes.
Of course you think Mr Obama is going to make a difference, but as I write this, he’s already giving all the signs of somebody who will say anything to get into power only to act in exactly the same way as the Washington clique he aims to replace!
Hating George W. Bush is not only dull and unoriginal, but it shows a complete lack of understanding of the world in which we live in.
You want liberty but you don’t want to defend it… right.
And for those of you who still don’t buy into what I’m saying, look at the Middle East. Bush single-handedly managed to unite the Arabs in their hate for him.
Given how difficult uniting the Arabs is, it takes a special man with special skills to achieve this. He is just the kind of man to bring about peace in that region!
“George W Bush may not have the slickness of his predecessor, but he is a man you can trust and who prefers to tell it like it is. “

A Man For All Seasons
AP and AOL (the worst of both worlds) just conducted their own little year-end poll to see who people thought was the bad guy of the year and who was the good guy. It turns out the bad guy winner and the good guy winner had something in common. Here is how they conducted the poll and the results ...
1. If you were asked to name a famous person to be the biggest villain of the year, whom would you choose?
* George W. Bush, 25 percent
* Osama bin Laden, 8 percent
* Saddam Hussein, 6 percent
* President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran, 5 percent
* Kim Jong Il, North Korean leader, 2 percent
* Donald Rumsfeld, 2 percent
* John Kerry, 1 percent
* Rosie O’Donnell, 1 percent
* Dick Cheney, 1 percent
* Hillary Clinton, 1 percent
2. If you were asked to name a famous person to be the biggest hero of the year, whom would you choose?* George W. Bush, 13 percent
* Soldiers/troops in Iraq, 6 percent
* Oprah Winfrey, 3 percent
* Barack Obama, 3 percent
* Jesus Christ, 3 percent
* Bono, 2 percent
* Angelina Jolie, 1 percent
* Al Gore, 1 percent
* Arnold Schwarzenegger, 1 percent
* Colin Powell, 1 percent

Dumb And Dumber At Yale
It turns out that George Bush had a higher cumulative grade average at Yale than John Kerry. Bush’s score for four years was 77, while Kerry’s was 76. Ted Kennedy’s score was 90 proof.

In all fairness, it should be noted that The Skipper looked like this (see below) when he was in college during the same period (late Sixties) when these two “C students” were supposedly matriculating. Skipper, of course, had a 3.48 GPA, in addition to being much more handsome, debonair, suave, and alogether cool than these two Ivy-League goobers above (especially the lying sack of s**t on the left). In addition, the Skipper was in a much better school, The University Of Alabama (ROLL TIDE!) ....

Thought For The Day
Help me on this, folks. Am I the only one who can remember when the Russians hated our guts, called our President bad names, compared us to Fascists and promised to bury us? Am I the only one who can remember when the minority party in Congress supported the Administration for the good of the country and held their peace until the next election? Am I the only one who can remember when Hollywood made decent movies that made you feel good to be an American?
Pictured below are the former Head of the KGB and the former Governor of Texas. They’re sharing a really funny dirty joke one of them heard recently about Frenchmen and light bulbs. Meanwhile, back in the USA, Democrats are calling the man on the right below a “loser” and movie stars are comparing the same man to a Nazi leader. Things are sure getting a mite confusing out in Liberal-Land, ain’t they? It’s a good thing the former Communists in Russia can forgive and forget. You might say they learned how to get over it and just .... MOVE-ON ....
BWAH-HAH-HAH-HA-HA-HA-HA ....

Bulletin From The Road
I’m so proud of my little “TEMPERS”. You guys (and gal) are doing great! I see that even OldCatDude is getting into the act. Abso-freaking-lutely wonderful.
The long-ass drive from St. Louis to redneck-land in North Alabama yesterday (507 miles, eight hours) went quietly. The high point was seeing a bumper sticker in Paducah, KY that read “My Labrador Is Smarter Than Your Honor Student”. I liked that. The “Ill-Annoys” state police must have taken Saturday off, thank God. The Hemi just purred all the way from I-270 to I-64 to I-57 to I-24 to I-40 to I-65. At 85 mph, the 5.7 liter Hemi just barely turned over at 2400 RPM (7000 RPM redline).
I’m packing today. The computer equipment gets loaded up in the Jeep later today (I’m carrying all of it myself - don’t trust the movers) so this will be my last post for a week or two until I get everything re-assembled in my new home on the Misskaspippi River. Movers arrive tomorrow to start packing and loading on Tuesday and I’m outta here on Wednesday (another 507 mile drive).
You folks keep on keeping on. You’re in good hands with the temporary crew. I just hope I don’t have to shoot ‘em all when I return. Some of them are having way too much fun ....
I leave you with a little something to enjoy! This is what I got for my campaign contribution and hundreds of hours of work in the 2004 campaign .... well, actually I got a little more .... a President who doesn’t have shit fer brains. Click the image for the larger (8x10 - 1MB) version.

Ultimatum For George Bush And The Republican Party
All right, Mr. President. It’s time to put our cards on the table here. I’m also calling in a few markers I’m holding. You remember me, don’t you? The guy who worked tirelessly last year to get you re-elected? The guy who, with his buddy Vilmar, did everything in our power with the power of this blog to make sure you stayed in Washington to finish the job you started four years ago? Remember us? Well, you better. Because we’re more than a little bit pissed at you and the Republican Party right now. Why? Because you’re giving our freaking country away, that’s why!
As Vilmar said below, scurrying off to Mexico and sucking up to Vicente Fox while Fox’s own government literally forces its poverty-stricken people to illegally migrate north across the border into America and even goes so far as to publish a government guide for illegal migrants to assist them in breaking our laws. And you call this man our friend? Bullshit, Tex! I’m sick and tired of this crap and I want it to stop right now. Do you hear me? I’ll shout if necessary, dammit! Stop these leeches from crowding across the borders illegally or else this blog will hound your ass all the way until 2008 and if your Republican buddies in Congress decide to do nothing about the illegal immigrants, their ass can be driven out of office.
I hope you’re paying attention because this is no idle threat. I mean what I say, Mr. President. I will use this blog and everything in my power to defeat anyone in political office who does not get with the program and enforce our immigration laws. There will be no amnesty program, got that? I don’t care how poor the Mexicans are. There are too many legal ways for them to enter our country for this to continue.
Why are you condoning a criminal act, Mr. President? That’s right. You are turning a blind eye to hundreds of thousands of criminal acts every year as these people flood across our borders. By doing so, you are aiding and abetting criminals in the act of committing crimes against America. In my book, that makes you a criminal too, Mr. President .... ex post facto. Granting amnesty to these criminals, already in our country, is an abomination and a slap in the face to our legal system. Why not just grant a general amnesty to all criminals currently in the country. Why not put Charles Manson and all the rest back on the street again? Isn’t that basically what you and Senor Fox are trying to do? I’m sorry, but I can’t let you two pull the wool over my eyes that easily. This is personal ....
On December 14 of last year, I was on my way home from work in the late afternoon when I pulled up at a stop light. Before I knew what had happened, my vehicle was smashed from behind and I was knocked unconscious. According to the accident report, I was hit by a drunken Hispanic man (blood alcohol level - .11, which is .03 over the legal limit). Also, according to the accident report, this man had no drivers license, no social security card, no place of employment and no automobile insurance. He was arrested but later released on bond, whereupon he disappeared. My vehicle, a $40,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (less than three years old with only 30,000 miles on it) was totally demolished and my insurance company, GEICO, had to replace the vehicle under my collision coverage. Attempts by GEICO to track down the hispanic driver who hit me were fruitless, according to them. I also incurred nearly $3,000 in medical bills for myself. In summary: not only was this man illegally in my country but he was driving illegally without a license or insurance and was driving under the influence. In addition, if he was working (according to the local police), he was working for strictly cash and paying absolutely no taxes. So let me see .... after breaking one law to get in to this country (a police investigation later revealed he was an illegal alien from Guatemala who had crossed over through Mexico), what did he do? He broke one .. two .. three .. four .. five more laws and caused $43,000 worth of damage as well as personal injury to a legal citizen of this country.
AND YOU WANT TO GIVE THIS FUCKER AMNESTY?
DAMMIT, MR. PRESIDENT! Get your head on straight! This is no laughing matter. I voted for you, I contributed to your campaign, I worked tirelessly for the Republican ticket. I DEMAND accountability. You have already seen that myself and all the other Conservative bloggers can be the best friend you could have. We can also be your worst nightmare. It’s your call ....

Hmmmmm, This Might Be Interesting
Any numerologists out there?
Many of us are familiar with the rule of 72, right? Basically in the investment world it means that when 72 is divided by another number, the result of that equation is a number representing the number of years it will be for a quantity to double.
Now Michael Barone is shining a different light on the number 72.
It’s the number of years between truly great and monumental presidents.
Start with Washington. Add 72 and you get Lincoln. Add 72 more and you get Roosevelt. 72 more? GWB.
Hmmmm, very interesting.
Oh, and the number 72? It’s about equal to a lifetime. So we are three lifetimes away from Washington.

Liberals Have Got To Be Seething (Part 1)
Well, another paper joins the ranks of those allowing editorials actually admitting that President Bush’s foreign policy may be right and is yielding results. Cowboy, eh?
Read the latest from the Chicago Tribune. (you may need to register. Go here for codes to get in.)
Successes in:
Afghanistan
Iraq
Libya
Egypt
Saudi Arabia
Lebanon
Syria
PLO
What do they all have in common? Ragheads! Goat fornicating, Islam loving sheetheads. All beginning to get in line.
The leftist America-haters are going apoplectic on seeing all this taking place. Meanwhile, some newspapers FINALLY get it.
Excuse me while I gloat.

Quote Of The Day
“It’s strange for me to say it, but this process of change has started because of the American invasion of Iraq. I was cynical about Iraq. But when I saw the Iraqi people voting three weeks ago, eight million of them, it was the start of a new Arab world . The Syrian people, the Egyptian people, all say that something is changing. The Berlin Wall has fallen. We can see it.”
-- Lebanon’s paramount Druze leader Walid Jumblatt
What are the chances that Democrats and Leftists will finally admit that George W. Bush knows what he is doing and might be turning the world into a better place?
Go read this and then decide.

Billboards?
A couple of weeks back mention was made of an effort to plaster billboards in Hollywood with a message from President Bush thanking them for helping him win.
Needless to say, Hollywood is not pleased.
If you want to see what they look like and want to contribute, click here.
And yes, they have been put up. I saw a picture at some news site but can no longer find it. If you have one of an actual billboard in Hollywood, let me know and I will post it.
Thanks to Oldcatman, here’s a picture of one erected.

Four More Years
It’s official. As of noon today, George W. Bush was sworn in as President of the United States. Thank God!

“There is only one force of history that can break the reign of hatred and resentment and expose the pretensions of tyrants, and reward the hopes of the decent and tolerant, and that is the force of human freedom.”
“All who live in tyranny and hopelessness can know: The United States will not ignore your oppression, or excuse your oppressors. When you stand for your liberty, we will stand with you.”
“Across the generations we have proclaimed the imperative of self-government, because no one is fit to be a master, and no one deserves to be a slave.”
“America will not pretend that jailed dissidents prefer their chains, or that women welcome humiliation and servitude, or that any human being aspires to live at the mercy of bullies.”

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.
- Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
- Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
